You have to first prove that it was money that was in the van. It's not Tinubu that will prove that but the petitioners will present their proof that it was actually money in the van. That's a tough one.
Your cleverness by half would amount to nothing. I bet you have severally seen the EFCC use terms such as "reasonably suspected to have bla bla bla" in its baseless and reckless prosecution of perceived yahoo boys. When the time comes, you would sit back and understand what "reasonably suspected" means.

Just shut up, you disgusting pig. Trying to play smart when you're actually only fooling yourself.

More like escaping with his closest valuables to a liquid asset. Interpol probably confisticated his Dubai immobile asset (cars, cash, house, furnitures etc). He can't also travel with so much cash (more than $10k) as that will be seized at the airport.

We haven't heard about the other criminal (Otunba cash) that was arrested by interpol in Turkey. He must have been locked up in an underground cell somewhere in Ankara or Instanbul or probably extradited to Denmark or the US and in solitary confinement.
Shut up. So he doesn't have mad BTC piled up? He doesn't have money in Nigerian bank accounts and proxy accounts? You kids are just sad ignoramuses.

Tell that to Akpabio who stole over N300billion as governor, squandered more on thousands of girls and women and is now rewarded with a ministerial position. I bet your wife and sisters would be eyeing him even now.. Waiting for him to snap a finger before they open wide.

You fake moralists and retarded hypocrites wouldn't talk about people like that. You are obsessed with yahoo boys. The joke is on your dumb asses. .

There's a reason Davido has remained the No.1 trending Nigerian musician for many years. The boy understands marketing. He is a boss. He stays in the news. Stays relevant. Stays on top.

A boss he is.

There's a lot to learn from him, marketing wise.

In Nigeria they will arrest you first then they will try find out ur crime after...
Na so. That's why I can burst a bottle on the head of any bastard that comes near me to commend the EFCC or any of our useless security agencies. Filled with very corrupt incompetent, lawless and wicked animals ALL recruited via nepotism. They operate without intelligence and common sense. It's just annoying.

After parading people who were arbitrarily arrested without evidence, the idiotic EFCC spokesman would always put out a statement that ends with the following obnoxious sentence: "the suspect(s) will be charged to court after investigation is completed"! So you know you've not concluded investigation but you're quick to arrest and parade?

This country is a joke.

From the write up of the efcc, they have no case against this guy.
Its seem to be a case of a person being asked for settlement at the airport, he does not perform, they then decide to "show" him asking him to prove his source of income. Obviously he travels with his wristwatches and the then decide to play on sentiments of poor Nigerians by displaying his watches and pasting the value.
True. Compare the nonsense EFCC press statement to the FBI's when Invictus Obi was arrested. See how detailed the FBI's statement was, tying Obi to SPECIFIC offences.

But here is our primitive and incompetent EFCC talking about suspicion, 'volunteering' information, 'recovering' wristwatches, and charging to court AFTER investigation is concluded! Are you not supposed to investigate first before arresting? Very backward people. It's very clear that Mompha would easily get off the hook if it gets to the court. The best bet is to allow the Interpol take him and try him abroad if they have concrete evidence against him.

This looks like a decoy because arrested in nigeria n charge is a way better than foreign nations where exact judgement will be giving to him.

I think he is very smart dudes. Nigerian justice system is a joke so far you are influential and rich
That is the only plausible explanation I can think of. It's clear the EFCC has no case. It has to be a decoy to prevent him from facing judgement in the foreign country where he is probably wanted.

The only other explanation is that this disgusting fool (I really dislike this particular idiot called Mompha) must have stepped on powerful toes in Nigeria. The fool na expert for chopping people money. Maybe he chopped the wrong one and now it's payback time.

See the way everyone is commending the arrest of Mompha but i bet you, If he was arrested without the collaboration of the Interpol a lot of Nigerians, especially those on this forum would have gone on an online outrage telling the EFCC to release him and go after corrupt politicians instead. This shows that Nigerians are the biggest hypocrites in the world. let's learn to support our public systems with the hope that one day we would finally get it right.
Shut up. The Interpol and other foreign investigative agencies do their INVESTIGATION and go after suspects after getting actionable evidence. The EFCC on the other hand would just arrest people indiscriminately based on mere suspicion, with no evidence, no complainant, and no real investigation.. The end result is that many innocent people are made to suffer for no reason.

Don't support nonsense. Things must be done the right way. That's how institutions should function.

I wonder why no one is taking the EFCC on ...easily 10bn can be made from their mistake

Honestly I don't think EFCC has the capacity to win an average smart criminal

Arrest u ,send u to prison for few months n force u to take plea or just make sure u stay few extra months in prison

What if someone endures all that ,sue them for billions ...its our money they would use to pay ooh
Well. Nobody in this useless country's recent history (let's say from 1999 till date), to the best of my knowledge, has ever successfully sued the government for any amount - for any injustice, got a favorable judgement and monetary award, and successfully received the monetary compensation from the government as ordered by the court. Anyone with facts to the contrary can prove me wrong.

Nigeria is a dysfunctional and deeply flawed country. We're worse than a zoo, and our people and institutions are worse than the most primitive animals. It's a Banana Republic we have here where anything goes.

Law enforcement is incompetent and skewed. The whole structure and system of criminal justice is a sad joke. Nothing at all to write home about.

PoliticalWitch:
Japan also has, as a result of its lack of resources, a strongly developed industrial sector that massively exports. As a result they are rich.

Japanese people also pay their taxes, and their power bills on time. And because they are so reliant on their industries for revenue, they have no choice but to make sure things work,

Nigeria? All we do is export raw materials since 1960. Raw materials like oil, palm oil, groundnut, cocoa, cotton, etc...whose prices we do not control, and most of the time the prices are too low to allow us earn something sensible. The oil that is our main earner now....we need it above $100 at worst before we can even assume we are earning a lot of money.

Plus, even if we managed our resources well, and so on, the thing is, building such a train in Nigeria means that NRC would be charging high fees to maintain it. It costs N48000 in Japan for a 7 day ticket. Would you pay that money?

Here in Nigerian, we don't pay taxes, we don't pay our light bills..and the bills are abysmally low. Any attempt to increase taxes is met with 'they are opressing us'. Meanwhile, our exports don't bring us enough money to live on. And we have to take loans. And we keep on voiting the same old corrupt people every time, and at the end of the day...what do you expect.

But overall, if we want bullet trains in Nigeria....we better be prepared to pay higher taxes, higher power bills and pay for train tickets of N7000 a day. You get that money?
Let our expressways and highways be pothole-free and crater-free for starters. We will be very satisfied with long road trips. We can worry about long haul rail transport later.

And by the way, let us judiciously utilise our meagre petro-dollar revenues first. The masses would gladly pay more taxes when the signs of good governance, frugality of government officials and overall equity are plain to see. I think it's nauseating to talk about taxes in a climate of such pervasive and disgusting corruption, wastage and so forth. When every daft fool in government is prancing about in long convoys and splurging thousands/million dollars on their girlfriends, you want me to pay more tax. I rather the entire country and everyone in it burns to ashes. Nonsense.
