Of course I have never believed the nonsensical talk that the Military is not adequately armed to prosecute a successful war against Boko Haram. The Military has been well armed and well funded by the current administration more than any other in Nigeria's history. Funding and arms isn't the problem. The problem is cowardice and incompetence. Pure and simple. Unfortunately Shekau is damn right. The crop of soldiers we have now in the armed forces are cowards who didn't bargain for this wahala when they were joining the armed forces through their corrupt connections and godfathers. They joined the Military merely for the prestige, money, bragging rights, and of course the opportunity to oppress bloody civilians. They did not expect and are not ready for the full blown war that Boko Haram now represents. Whole truth. |
Maybe Bola Tinubu has secured a Toronto Solution for him, who knows? Well, we will find out tomorrow. |
babadee1:My friend, there are too many fallacies in this submission of yours. Apart from shifting the burden of proof (by suggesting that Buhari does not need to prove that he attended secondary school), your suggestion that he could not have been employed by the military (an institution that, like all others in Nigeria has always been blighted by corruption, tribalism, and nepotism) is ridiculous, more so considering the period when Buhari enlisted. Besides, using the opinions of "experts" like Prof. Sagay to buttress your point is also fallacious as that does not constitute conclusive fact in any way. More so as other equally eminent constitutional lawyers (for example Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) and Mike Ozekhome (SAN) have separately stated that Buhari risks disqualification for failing to meet the REVISED requirements of INEC for the 2015 elections and onwards. Or will you argue that Prof. Sagay's opinion is more valid than other equally distinguished SANs such as Agbakoba? Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), said that General Muhammadu Buhari, |
babadee1:On the contrary, it is you who does not have sufficient understanding of the law. An affidavit is not a magical document that automatically ends all argument and renders all enquiry unnecessary. Instead, an affidavit is merely a signed document wherein a person makes a sworn statement concerning a specific matter. Buhari did not swear in his affidavit submitted to INEC that his certificates got missing or destroyed at some point. He swore that his certificates were in the possession of the Secretary of the Military Board. As you would know by now, earlier today, the Army High Command released a statement stating that it DOES NOT have Buhari's secondary school certificate (original or photocopy) in its possession. What does that tell you? Buhari's case is even more complicated than I reckoned. Not only is he unqualified to contest for ANY electoral position in the land (let alone the presidency), he also evidently committed the criminal offence of perjury by lying under oath! The onus is not on the PDP to prove that Buhari does not have a certificate. The onus is on the PDP to (1) simply tender evidence indicating that Buhari did not fulfil the requirements of the law (by appending a copy of his qualification to his INEC form); and (2) Provide evidence (using Buhari's own affidavit and the Army's statement today) to show that Buhari lied under oath. Either way, it is really easy to throw this Buhari of a man under the bus. His case is extremely weak - to the point of ridiculousness. |
The truth is that, even though I prefer Jonathan to Buhari by a long shot, I am not happy with the way things are turning out. It is increasingly looking like a no-contest with only two possible outcomes - Jonathan's re-election or anarchy. This certificate saga has effectively ruled out the possibility of a full-fledged Buhari presidency. Even if he participates in and manages to win the election, it is a very easy task for Jonathan and the PDP to get the courts to disqualify Buhari, and render his candidacy and subsequent victory null and void - and the courts will be 100‰ right based on the clear stipulations of the law. In simple terms, if Buhari cannot show evidence that he attended a secondary school and obtained the requisite school leaving certificate, then he cannot triumph in any legal suit challenging his eligibility - let alone victory- in the election. It is really sad for Nigeria's democracy that this fundamentally unqualified candidate is the best that the main opposition party can put forward. I was looking forward to a keen contest based on issues, manifestos, ideas, and antecedents. Who would have thought that it will boil down to questions about a secondary school certificate that even the lowliest drunkards and never- do-wells have? If a supposed presidential candidate cannot show evidence of his secondary school certificate, then is that not a massive indictment of our entire political selection process? I can't believe how stupid the APC as a party is for putting itself in this ridiculous position. As a Democrat, I find this really worrying. They're making this too easy for Jonathan and the PDP. |
egift:I'm sorry to say, but this is an extremely daft submission. Even my 2 year old niece is smarter than this. Only your 'point' number 2 is worthy of my attention because the rest of your comment begs the question. Assuming but not conceding that Buhari's original credentials were "looted" during the coup that toppled his regime, WHAT ABOUT PHOTOCOPIES? Before you claim that there was nothing like photocopies in the 1960s, please note that the Photostat (c) and similar devices have been in existence since the late 1800s and early 1900s (see: www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photostat). How did he get into the Military without any evidence of secondary education and the required certification? Then again, assuming but not conceding that his certificates (and copies thereof) all disappeared mysteriously somehow, WHERE ARE BUHARI'S SECONDARY SCHOOL MATES? How come nobody has come forward to testify that he or she was Buhari's contemporary in the provincial secondary school he purportedly attended? Was he a solo student? Mr. Man, we prefer to deal with cold, hard facts - about the main issue at stake. Please face that squarely, not all these diversionary rants. Who is in possession of at least a photocopy (forget the original) of Buhari's high school leaving certificate? For how long will you people beat about the bush? |

Chutzpah .... One needs lots of it to achieve the 'impossible' in life. |
Fittingly, you fished out a picture of Ribadu in a 'mogbe modaran' pose with hands on his head to accompany the story. Very funny indeed. |
How much was he paid for this stunt? |
Obinoscopy:I think that is the big issue here. Some people simply can't control or behave themselves when they have had one too many bottles. |
Bola Tinubu and the APC are running a fiefdom in Lagos; a quasi-totalitarian regime with no iota of democratic principles. I implore Lagosians to break this stranglehold in February. |
They should have organised the debate in Yoruba language. I'm sure Ambode would have have easily defeated Jimi if that had been the case. |
How many Nigerian girls in general are genuinely funny? Not many. They are mostly insipid and witless, which is why they prefer waiting on men to make them laugh. I believe that answers your question, @OP. |
This vertically challenged man does not impress me one bit. He should try harder. |
He gave her N500 and immediately she put the money in her Wallet, all the money she had made for the day disappeared? Does this rubbish make any sense? |
How can we be sure that he even has a WASC qualification. Has anybody seen the certificate? |
fr3do:You don't see US marines bullying, oppressing, and humiliating innocent civilians in the streets. That's why they are loved and supported by the generality of American citizens. Our soldiers in this Nigeria are mostly unprofessional brutes whose specialty is to oppress bloody civilians with koboko and frog jump punishments. How then do you expect civilians to support them? |
Some of the threads and comments one sees here are totally daft. How does the picture of a would-be coup plotter in a meeting with the president indicate that the man has a school certificate? He was in the military yes. But how did he get in? Is it not possible that he was recruited without possessing the minimum educational requirements? The key question remains: where is his certificate? If he has one, why has he not shown us? What secondary school did he attend? Why is this a difficult question to answer? These fanatical Buharists should stop beating about the bush and provide straightforward answers. |
When you cannot differentiate a bad dream from real life, then the hunger must be really really bad. |
gratiaeo:He is not forcing Obasanjo to love him, he is only trying to be on amicable terms with the man he has a sense of gratitude for - considering his role in making GEJ president. I think GEJ is just being too nice and too grateful. Let's not forget that someone also installed obj in office (IBB), and we all know that Obj hasn't shown him much gratitude till date. GEJ should learn to shun the old attention seeker and concentrate on more important things. . |
Mostly Yoruba and Abokki elements - apart from Oshiomole and the rogue Amaechi . That says a lot about how Buhari regards the good people of the South East, Niger Delta, and Middle Belt. |
Olufemiolaolu:And what is the relationship between cuteness and literacy (or illiteracy)? This is what logicians would refer to as a non-sequitur . Who is the real fool now? |
The story has too many holes in it. I don't think it is enough to discourage social media hook ups and all that. After all, most times when a guy meets a lady somewhere in real life, they are complete strangers the first time before they become lovers or friends sooner or later. The most important thing is to use one's good judgment at all times. Besides, if the story is true, then the main issue is not Facebook but actually the touch and follow jazz. I don't really know what to make of this touch and follow crap . The man touched you and you lost your senses and followed him? If that shit works, then no girl is safe no matter how careful she is since they all encounter total strangers at touching distance everyday - in markets, public transport, roads, etc. I guess any guy with touch and follow juju can simply touch any girl he fancies and she will lose her senses and follow him home. In that case, Facebook or social media in general has nothing to do with it. |
Prelude to the havoc they will wreak when Buhari loses the election. In 2011 they killed youth corpers and hundreds of other non-Muslim innocents. Who knows how many more would be killed this time. |
The people in that bus do not look like regular passengers. All I see are party supporters, aides, and security men. A stage-managed publicity stunt. |
drisatasarr:Maybe he meant N50, 000. That would certainly be achievable with the colossal revenues Lagos generates. If the FG can subsidise tertiary education in federal universities (which are still the best in standards in Nigeria), then a prosperous state like Lagos can and should do the same. |
MrTeymee:.. Which Lagos do you like the way it is..... Banana Island and Lekki Phase 1 or the likes of Ejigbo, Ikotun, or Okokomaiko? |
barcanista:So in essence, innocent people (including the likes of Ojukwu who were not part of the overthrown government) were hauled off to prison and unjustly detained for almost one full year merely on a whim? Just based on a sadistic dictator's arbitrary suspicion? Military regime or not, that can't be right. If that is the sort of "anti corruption war" that Buhari represents, then Nigeria can do without it. |
I can't fall for this crap cos I don't give money to a girl I've not slept with, except small small transport fare money or recharge cards about once or twice. I even tell them from day one that I don't like so called good or decent girls, that I prefer bad girls, so no need for decent girl pretence. That's the safest way to avoid rubbish by girls that think they are wise. Even if her entire family is in crisis, I simply can't help her with a dime unless I have been intimate with her. If we have been intimate and I enjoy everything she has to offer, then she can scam me to a reasonable degree, no problem. |
FastShipping:Lucky Dube (of blessed memory) : "they don't build no schools anymore, all they build is prison prison....they don't build no schools anymore, all they build is prison prison" . He must have had despots like Buhari in mind when he sang that classic song. In this day and age, Nigeria does not need more prisons. Nigeria needs more schools, more industries, more hospitals, more critical infrastructure to alleviate suffering, improve quality of life, reduce misery and desperation, and discourage recourse to criminality. In the end, that is the most effective way of fighting corruption. Mass imprisonment will not stop corruption or discourage crime; it will only make people's resolve stronger and deadlier. Jonathan is right on point. |
Flets:This is just beautiful. Unfortunately, the anti-GEJ jihadists would never be able to understand this excellent point. |
