He also said that a thief should be called a thief and be treated as a thief not to use the corruption to paint it and confuse the masses. Also he stated that EFCC tackles financial crime (mismanagement), ICPC tackles corrupt practices and the NPF deals with stealing so calling stealing corruption is leaving everything to ICPC to deal with.Excellent! Can any smart alec here argue that this clarification does not make sense? |
theV0ice:The last paragraph of her article relied on her assumption that INEC's stated reason for postponing the elections were true. In the days after the postponement, it has become apparent that INEC merely sought to deflect attention from its own unreadiness and lack of preparation by shifting blames to the Military. It has become public knowledge that several cogent and verifiable factors were responsible for the postponement - poor rate of PVC distribution (with as much as 23 million PVCs still uncollected nationwide), poor level of training for ad-hoc staff on how to operate the card readers, lack of evidence to show that the card readers have been tested and would function flawlessly during the elections, inadequacy of election materials, etc. In light of the new evidence, I'm sure Chimamanda would hold a very different view now and would not express the same opinion indicated in the last paragraph of this article. |
agabusta:Hosts my foot. Are you giving me free land to build my house or are you accommodating me for free in your house or are you giving me free food or what exactly? This "hosts" nonsense is so condescending and annoying. |
free2ryhme:I guess you alone are the "majority" that has rejected Jonathan and accepted Buhari. Someone would just sit in his small room and decide what millions of people he has never met would do. So you have gone to Enugu or Benue or Taraba or even Ibadan to get the opinions of the "majority " in these places before arriving at your useless conclusion? You think Nigeria begins and ends in your small circle of like-minded family and friends? What a joker. |
This is one of the most objective and unbiased commentaries I have read in recent times on Nigeria's political situation. The fact remains that characters like Obasanjo and Tinubu cannot be held up as exemplars of integrity and conscientious leadership. They are rogues who are more corrupt and inept than Jonathan can ever be. Their views cannot be accorded any importance because they are mostly driven by personal interests and grievances, rather than by nationalistic motivations. Then again, I am forced to agree that the likes of Tinubu are necessary evils because they represent a strong (albeit corrupt and discreditable) opposition that is healthy for our democracy. |
Euckybaby:Go and watch Africa Magic or ping on BBM with your fellow bimbos if you are too intellectually lazy to read and understand this write-up. It is not compulsory to dabble into serious issues that you lack the capacity to comprehend. |
It's a sad reality of life that "success" is measured by the material things you have amassed. |
This football betting craze is spreading like wildfire these days. It's technically gambling, but at least it's more dignified than the regular Baba Ijebu lotto which is the real dirty game associated with riff-raff and area boys. The only way your sweet mother will lose interest in this thing is if she loses her first couple of bets. However, since you say your brother is an expert at it and hardly loses, then I guess she will play the same bets (games) as he does and ride on his luck to win. If she wins often enough, then I'm afraid she is stuck and there's nothing you can do about it. In fact, I predict that you would also join them sooner than later and even become more addicted to it than your brother and your mother put together. |
It's amazing how the unique calabar accent is so apparent in the text of this report. Even oyinbo reader go know say na calabar man write the story. |
They directed all Igbo living in Lagos to vote for APC candidates because they will protect their interest both in Lagos and Nigeria.Chai. I have really suffered in this world. Imagine the insult. Directed who? These hungry turncoats, after soiling their hands and mouths with amala and ewedu in Tinubu's Bourdillon manor, suddenly mustered the audacity to "direct" me to vote for the APC! As what? |
Emeka Offor is too rich and powerful. Moves about with truckloads of armed bodyguards and countless SUVs in his convoy. Multi billionaire without a doubt. Heard the story about how he ordered Flavour to cancel a show he had been booked for elsewhere to perform impromptu at his wedding to this girl last year or so. As an Anambra boy who knows the powers that be in his state, Flavour happily complied. Of course I am sure he was paid 3x his normal fee for that. |
juliusocean:Thank you VERY MUCH. |
Don't enter into a fight you can't win, Dickson. No need to resort to public bravado. Don't let your sycophants push you into a ditch.. . You would drown alone. Be wise. |
So freedom fighters like Asari and Tompolo are your biggest nightmare? You are not bothered about the unproductive parasites with a disproportionately large sense of entitlement in the North? You are not bothered by those who want power because they foolishly believe that power is their birth right (even though they contribute absolutely nothing to the national purse)? Sometimes I wonder how you people from this section of the country renowned for double-speak, hypocrisy, deceitfulness, and cowardice cope with yourselves. In spite of your self-proclaimed high level of education and 'sophistication', you have always enslaved yourselves to Northern masters for a mess of porridge. See how a so-called professor of law has enslaved himself to a barely literate cattle rearer with dubious credentials just to perpetuate the historical subservience of the west to the north. Is this not disgraceful? |
And these disgusting beasts are responsible for 90% of highway robberies across the south West (Lagos/Ibadan/Sagamu), South South (Benin Bypass), and Middle Belt (Lokoja/Abuja Expressway). Raping female travellers and maiming/killing without mercy. We need to start thinking of how to eliminate these animals from the entire South and confine them to their domain in the North. |
This guy must be smoking a particularly hard type of skunk. What nonsense. I agree he might be a great scholar and a man with unquestionable integrity, but this outrageous claim indicates that he is a misfit in this role and is clearly incompetent. I hate how Nigerians throw figures around carelessly and ignorantly. $3.2 trillion dollars or what, are you mad? That's about the entire budget of the world's richest country the United States! If the entire South Africa (plus the likes of Kenya, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe as 'jara') is put on sale today, I'm sure it will not cost up to that. Prof Nebo needs to return to the classroom and the president should appoint a person who knows what he is doing. Too bad they had to do away with Barth Nnaji. |
TheProfe:You seem to have an analytical mind.... Now, analyse this: Buhari lied under oath (affidavit) that his certificate was with the Military, which turned out to be a blatantly false claim refuted by the military authorities. In law, that is called perjury - a criminal offence that strips you of all integrity and confines you to jail. What do you have to say about that? |
0rex:My brother you don't get it. Many of you think that Buhari can wage a unilateral war against corruption and succeed in stamping it out. He cannot; nobody can at this point in time. It will be impossible for Buhari to go against the likes of Tinubu, Amaechi, Bukola Saraki, and the other corrupt thieves surrounding him now. Why? Even if Buhari attempts to do that, he will have to rely on institutional support - the law courts, the national assembly, the law enforcement agencies (EFCC and Co.). These institutions are filled with corrupt people who will be sympathetic to (and easily influenced by) these political gladiators. If Buhari decides to arrest Tinubu or anyone else, he will need the EFCC to build a water tight case and prosecute with incontrovertible evidence. He would need the courts to handle the cases diligently and dish out convictions and jail terms expeditiously. He would need members of the National Assembly to make laws and conduct hearings that support the fight against corruption. Unfortunately, assuming that Buhari is the no-nonsense anti-corruption freak that he claims to be, the same cannot be said about the other Nigerians that populate the crucial institutions required to fight corruption in a democracy. Buhari cannot simply order the arrest and indefinite detention of anyone he suspects of corruption. He would have to go through the same corrupt channels and institutions set up by law to deal with such issues. How then can he succeed? At best he will be another clueless figurehead president like Shagari who may not be personally corrupt but would sit in his office while his subordinates, civil servants, law enforcement officers, judges, legislators, and the others will continue to amass billions as usual. People need to understand this. If the so-called promise to fight corruption is the only selling point of Buhari's candidacy, then I'm afraid he has absolutely nothing to offer. |
Reference:And if the PDP continues in power (which shall be the case), then the man could very well be on his way to becoming the IGP. I say congratulations to him in advance. |
okotv:He has something much stronger. The Oba would do back flip from his palace right into the Atlantic Ocean by Bar Beach if he tries rubbish with Mbu. |
mrofficial:You're still not saying what they can or would do to him after strategising against him. I hope you are not insinuating anything diabolical. If it's jazz you're talking about, then you must know that AIG Mbu is over fortified and would withstand any spiritual onslaught. Okala mmadu okala mmuo. |
mrofficial:Strategise on how to kill him or remove him from his post or do what exactly? You people are renowned for making cowardly empty threats. The likes of Tinubu, Fashola, the owambe Oba of Lagos, and other rascally APC elements in Lagos have met their nemesis in AIG Mbu. The capable AIG would dismantle APC's exploitative regime in Lagos by ensuring a free and fair election that would be won by Jimi Agbaje. |
Jimi I know Jimi I trust Jimi I will follow. All hail the oncoming governor of Lagos State. |
Every hungry fool who collects daily stipends from Tinubu in Bourdillon would come online to claim 'political strategist'. Yimu. All your so-called reasons are baseless and unfounded. The elections were postponed mainly because INEC is not ready at this time, and the security agencies are not ready too. A significant number of registered voters have not collected their PVCs in the Southern part of the country. Ad-hoc INEC staff have not been trained on how to operate the card readers and other devices associated with the elections. INEC has not mapped out a plan on how to deploy men and materials to all designated polling centres in the country. These are legitimate reasons to postpone the election. . . . . more so when you consider the fact that previous elections had been held between March and April. Nobody in the PDP or presidency has talked about postponing the May 29 handover date, so why are you APC rascals unduly worked up? What sinister plans did you have in mind for February 14th? |
Soulcaine:Bumpkin. So what is your point (assuming you have any) , and how have you intelligently negated her opinion? |
samplegirl:Thank you for such brilliant observation. |
Nothing new here. None of these crooks spend Naira (I know that for a fact) . Amaechi and the rest of them spend thousands of dollars DAILY on frivolities (I'm not even adding the dollar cost of daily chartered jets from Port Harcourt to Abuja to Lagos, mobilisation fees, handouts to supporters, security men, etc). Even the lowest paid runs girl they sleep with goes home with at least $5,000 in the morning. That's why I get pissed off when gullible fools assume that this sort of guy represents "change" in any way. He and the other crooks in the APC are more corrupt than any other politician you can think of. |
This is a legend right here. RIP Sir. |
Kiss Daniel my boy. Woju o! Odikwa tight. Danced like a mad man to that jam throughout December. Hope he would keep up the tempo and not be a one hit wonder. |
After all, show business is about deceiving gullible people. |
