For all you know, the doctor might have gone there to certify dead bodies....maybe the woman and the baby were already dead while the grandma was taking the delivery, the fear might have caused the grandma to to eventually die when the doctor broke the news. He provided a link to what? so whatever DSS writes on its website is correct. do you know there is a law establishing DSS. please provide me a link to the code that empowers DSS to seize passports. and even if DSS is empowered to seize passports of people under their investigation, why should they be investigating somebody that committed financial crime? What then is the job of the EFCC? i used to think you apc guys were intelligent. i can now see you no nothing more than SAI BUHARI...such a shame. And for your information, court documents are public property. if it is the court that orders the seizure, it is no longer DSS but the court so i am still saying DSS cant seize passports. Moreso the court rarely orders seizure of passport for somebody under investigation because it constitute a serious infringement on their fundamental right to free movement

@ brabus, you dont have to keep learning through bad publicity. We are all nigerians and we understand perfectly. As a medical doctor in private practice, i come across something similar everyday. If a nursing home or all these traditional homes or even church maternity should refer a patient to the hospital, they will tell you point blank that they will collect a certain percentage. They collect as much as 50k on top caesarian section that the doctor did for 150k or less. The worst part is that these patients believe these people more than the hospital as at that time such that if you dont play along, they will move the patient elsewhere and when a hospital is growing, you need these referrrals. so in nigeria, if you dont do PR, you dont get contract. if you dont settle pastors running maternity homes, they dont bring their complicated labour cases to you. SO YOU KNEW FROM DAY ONE THE SISTER WANTED TO DEFRAUD THE SISTER. YOU COULD HAVE COLLECTED THE 19million naira and then settle the sister with like 100k for helping you to secure the business. the money should come from your profit and not by inflating the contract. THE FACT IS THAT YOU CONNIVED WITH THE SISTER TO INFLATE A CONTRACT BY AS much as 5 MILLION NAIRA FROM A PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL SWEATING TO MAKE A LIVING. THAT MY FRIEND IS WICKED. AND YOU HAVE SO MANY UNHAPPY CLIENTS. WHY NOW?

@ barcanista, thanks for the analysis. kindly disregard those that have nothing to contribute except shouting wailing wailers. But i disagree with you. naira actually depreciated against the dollar because of excessive speculation. As you know, due to the ban on 41 products importers from accessing forex at the official rate, they had to source it from the parallel market. The excessive demand for forex by these importers from the black market at first created a scarcity that pushed the dollar up temporarily. speculators then cashed on that and started hoarding dollars thinking the dollar will keep rising against the naira especially since the new govt has no concrete plan in place. i was almost caught up too. i was advised to change most of my daily sales to dollars and then deposit in my DOM account in speculation of a further weakening of the naira. therefore, the banks were flooded by speculators with dollar deposits and many of them under the disguise of importation are laundering the money abroad via transfer. so, by refusing to accept the dollars, the CBN is playing a very smart move aagainst speculators. many people are therefore caught with dollars which they cant transfer or even deposit except to convert it to naira. therefore, the economy is flooded with dollars and demand is less than supply so the dollar must come down.
IS IT SUSTAINABLE/
Yes but we will temporarily suffer in sacrifice for a prosperous naira. importers will be temporarily caught unaware. the CBN will only create a bereaucratic bottleneck that will make it difficult for anybody except importers to access forex. BVN is one of the them. money launderers that used to access forex and transfer via DOM account will be cut off by the bottleneck. speculators will not find it attractive to hoard dollars because unless they ggenuinely need the dollars, they wont be able to get value for it since they cant spend it locally, cant transfer and cant even deposit. what do you need a useless dollar for?
it is not easy to open domicilliary account in neigbouring countries like you suggested unless you are a citizen or permanent/legal resident so few will be able to divert import activities to the neigbouring countries. therefore, even without increasing local production of imported stuffs, the naira will still stabilise against the dollar at a favourable position cos the most damage done to the naira usually comes from speculators. once we only access just the dollar we need for importation, school fees and other legal business abroad, we will stop speculating with the naira .
Even if things are temporarily expensive, we youths should take up the challenge and start producing. you can start with toothpick for example cos it is part of the products banned from accessing forex officially. the bottomline is that if it will be sustainable we must support the CBN in this quest. this is the first policy of this govt/CBN that i support.

I am yoruba but so far I am very disappointed that this Govt is actively promoting ethnic marginalisation of Ndigbo. Igbo didn't vote for APC fine. A democratic Govt should by now make them see reason why they made a mistake by embracing them in his Govt. They said they want Biafra. You said no yet you are marginalising them in their own country. Obama made one of his opponent vice president and the other opponent became secretary of state. So far buhari has only be vindictive. Like it or not, he will divide nigeria faster than radio Biafra if he continues to play his arewa ethnic card.

to be honest, this is the first time I will quote anybody shouting wailing wailers. It is irritating. It makes you appear clueless. Please be creative. If buhari can't trust the ministers he is yet to appoint then it means he has personality problem. He can't curb excesses by stopping ministers from awarding contracts. Who will eventually monitor the contract? You make more money monitoring contract execution than awarding it. Contract money are paid in instalments based on recommendations of the monitors. The monitors can make life difficult for the contractor if they don't settle them cos without their recommendations no further money will be paid. All these talk talk from this administration is at best primitive. And to worsen the situation, the supporters keep shouting wailing wailers instead of constructive criticism. Very irritating

But wait.....Apc is setting up a political committe to probe money missing from NNPC. committe comprising of only APC governors. Not technocrat. Not forensic expert. Not even non partisan financial expert. What do I expect el rufai to say about jonathan? To exonerate him abi? The report of the committee is dead on arrival.
