U know how much the money cost? Millions in naira just for CS that I do for 60K and people won't pay. And u know what? This man only had 5K and so if the doctor even want to find out the cause of the problem he can't cos the money is too small. If the doctor misdiagnose the patient now u will run back to the internet and start saying nigerian doctors couldn't diagnose a common ailment. With 5K. What u call a common ailment may need an MRI to diagnose which will cost more than a 100K. Stop deceiving yourself...these guys were fair on this family. Walk in2 st Nicholas hospital with such an emergency and u will deposit nothing less than 300K. Get this right...it cost money to save lives. Even if they will pay later once the hospital can't afford the treatment u can't blame them the same u can't blame the husband that couldn't afford more than 5K at that moment. Govt don't stock drugs for us. U don't pay ur tithe to hospital but to pastors and we still pay tax and our children school fees. So if u think health is important, give hospital grants, tax breaks etc. Until then don't blame me if I reject ur wife in labour cos of bill 2 Likes |

So it is not about the 25percent pf the deposit. For ur infrmation, some cases require investigations b4 u even start treatment. Assuming they want to check the electrolytes and creatinine of this woman with ultasound scan and ECG and lipid profile. U are already talking about money in excess of 25K. Assuming they have to send it to a nearby laboratory to do it, don't u think they will pay 4 it? So in that situation, they should use their salaries to take care of it abi? frosbel: Pal, if you were my brother and the doctor who refused to treat this woman, I will disown you , honestly.if you can do half of what I've done for patient in my practise as a doctor, u will be fulfilled my brother and that is despite the fact that I reject a lot of patients. I am not God and I don't pretend to be one. Let me tell u a story. They brought in a man with heamorragic stroke to my hospital unconscious two weeks ago, cos of the need for CT scan, I took the patient immediately in our hospital ambulance, gave a detailed referral note and accompanied it with an experience nurse and referred to LASUTH. They rejected the patient cos of lack of bed space in the emergency ward and we said they should admit in ICU but they insisted we must deposit 350K first. The family only had 40K and they refused. After like 5hrs the patient died infront of the A and E at lasuth and the family used the 40k to transport him to the east. So even Govt hospital in Nigeria reject patient cos of deposit. The man I am talking about is yet to be buried so if u don't understand how the system works in Nigeria keep salivating in ur hallucination that a doctor is wicked cos he demanded for deposit 1 Like |

frosbel: Any doctor who refuses to attend to an emergency life threatening medical situation because of common 20k Naira has no business being a doctor, he should be fired and prosecuted.this man go and sleep. So if the 20K is meant to buy blood the doctor should keep attending to patient without having the neccessary to save life. I will rather tell them to take the patient elsewhere if I can't help. The 20K may be needed for drugs. You should be ashamed of ur country self. So u think 20K is what is needed to save life in an emergency situation? They are even demanding for such a meagre amount and u are running mouth. Check most US hospitals. It cost an average of 10K in dollars per day in ICU. That over a million naira. Look...stop expecting doctors to treat u for free even in emergencies unless the Govt or the insurance is willing to cover the back of the doctor in case of default. People are owing me millions in fees and I dare not owe pharmacist that supply me drugs. After the death of ur twin how much did u pay them for their effort? Rather u will be blaming them that it was because they started treatment late meaning u didn't want to pay and cos they don't have mortuary they will allow u to go at loss to them and next time u think they won't rather demand for deposit than risk it again. @frobel. Rather you are the one not getting the point. Doctors are not trained to act on emotions. A life must be saved? How do u know? For all u care, that woman may need an emergency tranfusion with blood that you may have to buy from the bank with 30k. So the doctor should dip his hand in the pocket and pay. And he may even want to do that but for how many people? The woman may need an emergency surgery that u need to call another specialist to come and do. So u will give the specialist stories that they are yet to pay? A life must be saved but doctors are not under the illussion they can help everybody so don't blame them if they can't save a life due to something beyond their power. For ur information, a thousand lives need to be saved not just a life per day in our different hospitals so how many of them do u want to do charity for. We are the one on ground and we are telling u what is happening you are still saying a life must be saved. U think u have more human feelings than I do? Think again |

Nigerians will never see the issue as it is. If u are blaming the doctors and the hospital, this problem will always occur and it can be anybody. Private hospitals don't just wake up to start collecting deposits. I have operated several people without deposit and they will never pay afterwards. The only time u can get money is when the issue is still hot...the moment u finish treating them, they will not pay and if you don't allow them to go they will call u wicked. For ur information, I started my hospital with a bank loan, I pay exhorbitant fees from lawma to nepa to ministry not to talk of staff, drugs, equpments, consumables. I have patients yet I was accumulating debts cos I don't collect deposit. Medicine is not charity. It cost a lot of money to save lives. Ask people that travel abroad for medicare, they pay in millions. We only get to hear of cases like this once it has happened but the ones the doctor did without collecting deposit and who eventually didn't pay none of u will hear. Until nigerians start to be reasonable and faithful, if I know that after treating you you will pay my bills why won't I do so? Assuming this hospital treated that woman without deposit and she still ends up dying, they may not pay again. So who bear the cost of the money spent. As long as nigerians assume that health is charity and doctors should work for free we will continue to travel out before we get good medicare 6 Likes |

Stop posting on ur thread unneccessarily. 90percent of people following ur thread are not interested in ur word of wisdom. We are following u to see beautiful designs. Each time u post I rush down here thinking u have posted a new design only to start reading daily nuggets. Learn how to post only when u have a good design to post or when u are relpying a query. There is a guy called iheboreke on this forum. He post very wonderful designs and each time he post I know it must be a new design. If u keep posting things that are not relevant to this topic it will eventually become boring and people won't follow u. This thread can last for several years if u post only quality designs. I will call u this week to book an appointment on my project |

What is the fuss with graduates applying for dangote's job as drivers all about? To be honest with you, this will not make news in america. Colonel sanders started kentucky fried chicken by moving from door to door with his chicken recipe. Havard schooled Bill Gate started microsoft in a garage. The most important success stories in america started from the garages. Why is it so convenient for doctors, lawyers of nigerian origin to go to america and be sweeping streets in cold weather but when they do it back home it becomes an abberation. Americans are proud to do dirty jobs and be considered hardworking and let us imbibe such spirit here. That a graduate started as driver doesn't mean he won't end up as MD later. We should rather be happy that more nigerians are beginning to take hardwork as priority no matter what name u call the work. Wether driver, cleaners. This is the spirit that built america. Can u send me some prototype designs. And if I want to bring you on site for the design how much will u take? For the design and for coming to see it yourself on site |
