I think it's a cultural thing. It must be the way things are in the culture they were brought up in, hence her calmness to the point of waiting for his return. They just happen to find themselves in America, were people won't understand this way of life. The guy probably knows people won't understand, that's why he's trying to make sure people don't know. The girl probably doesn't know, and thinks it's normal in America as well, hence her hesitence to draw attention. We used to have similar cultures here in Nigeria too. You'd physically discipline an erring spouse who refuses to take to correction by dialogue. This was all before the West came with their gender equality.

The other day they gave a woman 7 years for killing her husband. Her Defense Counsel even had the guts to argue that a lengthy sentence will jeopardize her profession as a lawyer. If it was a guy who killed his wife, the entire story would've radically changed. I heard no remarks on that.

Later Nigerian "feminists" will come out and be shouting "Gender Equality." They won't come out now, na when money don dey involved you go see them.

I saw such somewhere in Ikeja a few years back. They were sitting in the front sit of their car inside holdup, and suddenly the man started punching the woman on the face. She fought back when the man started moving the car after the warden had given us the sign. He almost crashed into another car trying to park. After he parked it was full on war between them. It got so bad that the woman opened the door and ran out of the car in the middle of the busy road. As she left, he held her dress and tore it. She ran down the road on bare feet wearing her shimmy, she almost got run over.


Why do Nigerians handle their business in public this way? When/if I get married, if my wife ever pisses me off to the extent that I feel like hitting her, I'll file for separation instantly, let alone fighting, even to the knowledge, of the public (not to talk of in public). Why the heck are you still married to a woman you feel like hitting? Doesn't that defeat the whole essence of being married?

People have various reasons for joining confraternities in Universities, but for most, it's just a phase in their lives and not a definition of who they are.

This was bearly 24 hours ago!!

I know of a 'converted' robber who once made a confession in my presence. He spoke of a robbery in which he and his partner gained access into the house of a young couple with a new-born baby. He took the baby from his cot and threatened to smash him on the wall if the couple didn't cooperate. They were slow in cooperation, so he smashed the baby on the wall. He died instantly. At that point, his mother lost her senses and held on to him screaming "kill me too!" The neighbors were alerted and they had to bail!!!

On a positive note, Suso's made first team. Gerrard's goal made me happy, not because we were leading with 10 men, but because Suso made it. Makes me really happy that we have a great young squad. Truth be told - we really don't need Harry!! Judging from last season, despite our awful form and players, and Dalglish's awful tactics and selections, we didn't do as bad as most people think. Last season was one of our best in the last decade, in terms of chances created and defense. We just had tough luck finishing...cross bar shots and saves...etc! The only difference between Liverpool's current squad and Arsenal's current squad is that they have a quality finisher. I hope Brendan can get us finishers.
