Clearly you are a very sensitive boy with esteem issues. Where is the insult? I have not insulted anyone however if you are too sensitive to deal with robust responses you are in the wrong place. You quoted me first and I gave a firm response. I do not even understand why you interjected yourself into my path.

Kai, me a boy, see insult ooooo. Nairaland is a public forum, we can all comment on threads but we need to do it maturely, statements such as meaningless arguments and calling someone you have never met a boy is insultive, my response was even based on the fact that I have seen several of Ajanlekoko's posts and I knew he was referring to the SWF, I even qualified my statement. Please take it easy, you are taking this exchange too far.

There is a hatred for Northerners in the South, anything anti north gains traction easily. The oil allocation wahala will not exist if the regulatory agencies were on their toes.

I hope those who say Adenuga is about Glo can read this. I have heard about Mike Adenuga far back 1991. People don't even know that he is an oil magnate, making billions even before Glo.

I have been to all three of his platforms, the guy is making serious money off oil, the Nigerian government needs to make money off all these awardees.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Incredible! American Senator Debates For 13 Hours! by hercules07: 5:54am On Mar 08, 2013
pro01: Filibuster, or is that not what it is called? It's permissible in the US Senate, but I'm not sure whther the rules permit or forbid it in Nigeria's National Assembly. I can imagine the Senate President (or indeed any other disgruntled senator) calling you to order if you attempt to filibuster (for a merely 20 minutes sef) to prevent the passage of bill and whatnot.

In any case, we do not have sufficient number of intelligent people in the Senate to debate on any meaningful matter for close to one hour, let alone 13 hours. Although they can share money for 48 hours non-stop.

First time we are in agreement.

Sincere 9gerian: There was salary increase for all civil servants between 2009 and 2010.

Both academic and non-academic staff of all federal higher institutions got salary increase. SSANU, NASU, NAAT got salary increase of 53.37% in 2009, after which they called off strike action
http://www.nigerianmuse.com/20091106035352zg/nm-projects/higher-education-in-nigeria/ssanu-nasu-naat-get-53-37-salary-increase-unions-call-off-strike-indefinitely/

ASUU also got 52% salary increase in 2009
http://allafrica.com/stories/200910230710.html

Youth corpers got over 50% increase in their allowances in 2011 or thereabout

Medical doctors and other health workers (nurses, pharmacists, etc) got about 50% salary increase in 2010

Teachers (of Unity Colleges) got about 25% salary increase in 2010

All federal civil servants benefitted from the increase in minimum wage to N18,000 in 2011

These are ones I can remember and the weight of all these increases reflected in the recurrent expenditure of the 2010 and 2011 budget

How much was the budget in 2007 compared to now?

Dudu_Negro:

palm oil was produced all over the south and in commercial quantity. there were plenty igbos in lagos like i said, they just were not shop owners. if there were not many then sir ojukwu wiuld not have been successful as he was transporting back and forth.

let me tell you what drove you to lagos after the war. prior to and during the war a lot of igbos were sent out of lagos in what the western leaders believed to be ungratefullness and insults. the jubilation and cheering of igbos to the face of their hosts occurred across the country. remember that some of you had properties in lagos.

after the war a refugee situation resulted. there were far too many igbos at home than the land could support and so you attempted to go back where you previously had footprints. your return and access was limited and reposession of your properties were denied. this was the case everywhere except west. you had unlimited access in west and a full reposession of the properties left behind. this acted as an incentive for people who could not get full rights of return in north and portharcourt to head to lagos. each onethat settled in ended up pulling many more from village to come to lagos and each of the new sets also acted as recruiting agents for those still in village. so your settlement in lagos has nothing to do with indigenization or 20pound policy. west gave you a life support and safetynet that other regions denied to you.

Dudu why are you educating these guys, the ones that will heed your words are not on Nairaland, these ones are the die hard tribalists who see the yoruba man as his enemy.

YOU LIE when you say the complex was built by the govt, which govt?... Yes I know trade fair is within the complex but the actual COMPLEX actually called Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPAMDA) was collectively built by SPARE PARTS DEALERS. The land it was built on "like I heard" was leased for 99 years, go ahead and subpoena using FOI bill and see for yourself.

If you're making N100billion a day like they claimed they are, spare parts dealers build ASPAMDA complex in Lagos though I call it foolishness of the highest order, they should do the same...

They have BEST alternative because it's Lagos abi? Why is that? Is market no longer subject to demand and supply?

Why is the East a NO-NO? Aren't there businesses in the East? Besides, who said anything about the East? I said let them find other alternative. They said they're 150 of them in their union making this billions, if they're Igbos, since they control a good portion of the market, let them go to the east and build a better complex, spare parts dealers did it. Today, a good portion of spare parts dealers like motorcycles and their rest are from the east.

You do know that aspamda is within the trade fair complex and that complex was built by the government.

Next time you get caught by police for driving around during environmental sanitation hours, tell them you pay taxes and see where that excuse lands you.
Using your twisted logic, a tax paying company is well within its rights to dump waste material outside in plain sight because 'they pay taxes'.

Most of the time, these taxes don't even get anywhere near the Government.

Do not mind these guys, because we pay taxes, we will dump all of our responsibilities on the government, the traders are filth personified, the government needs to break up the cartels in that place, build appropriate structure and tax them appropriately, if the traders require LAWMA, let them approach LAWMA for their services.

Dede1: The governor of Lagos State exemplifies the decadence rooted in Nigerian system of education. How could a person with a SAN appended to his moronic name only think of ban or closure of certain activities in the state?

There is not doubt Ladipo Market generates revenue to Lagos State government therefore it is incumbent on the government of Lagos State to provide certain services such as collection of thrash and ensure clean environment at the market square.

I hope Fashola does not plan to run the so-called Eko Atlantic City in the manner everything is run in Lagos State. Clinton will be disappointed if Fashola or future governor of Lagos State goes Ladipo Market on Eko Atlantic City. I am not a batter but I had hedged my wedge that the so-called Eko Atlantic City will go the way of Ajegunle.

The complex where my office is situated also generates a lot of money for the state government yet, we do not wait for Fashola before keeping the environment tidy, the two sides are not blameless but the traders are filthy people and the market should be shut down, restructured and an arrangement between the market and the LAWMA should be ironed out, I am even more concerned about the fake spare parts sold there, that should be next item to be thrashed out.

Tolexander: Is he just waking up? Just because he has just declared his ambition to be the governor of anambra, that is when he now realised there is a need to make an agitation for his people.
Begging/urging seems not to have been the step he should have taken but tried mediating between the representatives of the market and the state government base on the request of the lagos state government.

There is even something more important to be done and that is the issue of fake spare parts, there is a need to develop a market around genuine parts, the environment issue is easier to deal with.

After you're done begging, isn't it time you start thinking of alternatives? When would we learn? For all those who had been losing market, as much as I feel pity for you, but I hate to say that if this have to happen to open your eyes, then good. Obu osisi nulu na aga ebgutu ya, kwulu, mmadu nulu na aga egbu ya, o walu ben Johnson...

The market is in Lagos, relocating elsewhere means someone else will take over, please tell your people to treat their environment better and while they are at it, bring in genuine parts.

Gabbysky: One thing is for sure, if the ACN-led govt of fashola continues like this, then they should bid 2015 farewell,
cos no right-thinking Lagosian would want to vote for another DICTATOR in the ACN to ruin their lives.
I am non-partisan and have been nursing the idea of another ACN gov after fashola honestly, but with the recent insensitive and inhumane
way he's handling the electorate that put him in office, hmm...
he's only trying to make it so easy for the PDP to win Lagos state; winners of election are decided by
voters not by structures.
Now if y'all think I'm joking just wait till 2015 then you'll know why Lagos would have so much visitors from all parts of the country then
and that Lagos is actually not a 'yoruba' state as he always claims.

God Bless Nigeria!

You think PDP winning Lagos will change the need to clean the city up? You guys make me laugh, do you expect Fashola to uphold illegalities?

He does not need a bloody state visit, he needs to go there to show he is on top of things, even a state visit can be scheduled in less than a week, the governor will gladly accommodate the President if he asks nicely, what is the big deal about going to see the governor of a state and his state, it is not as if the Maiduguri guys send the president.
