PapaBrowne:
I am tired of the stupidity that runs on Nairaland.
The shortest man in that picture(the lion of Bourdillion) is the key partner in this project. He was Governor of Lagos for 8 years while Jonathan was Governor of Bayelsa for 1 and 1/2 years. I want you to show me what Tinubu did in his 8 years as governor of Lagos asides accumulating the wealth of the ordinary citizens.
About what Jonathan has done as president- I can show you numerous things scattered all over the country which are unprecedented in Nigeria's history.
Bill Clinton surely must have noticed that the Murtala Mohammed Airport has improved considerably since Jonathan came on board. He probably also read about the signing off of the power sector to private companies and he knows that that is good news for Nigerians. His foundation is very interested in Food security and has noticed the renewed efforts at improving Agriculture as pursued by Adesina the Agric Minister.

Fashola is doing pretty well but anytime I'm in Lagos, the city doesn't look like one which has expended about 3 trillion Naira over the last 6 years.
Lagos is a very small patch of Land and the equivalent of some local governments in some states. 3 Trillion should build world class infrastructure of the type you see in many asian countries. But all I see is a 50km dual carraige road in Lekki that is taking 8 years to complete and then a good number of repaired roads accross the city-- roads that were built in the days Lagos was capital. The new projects been built are taking forever to complete and dont seem like they would see the light of day anytime soon. Some should please show me new real time infrastructure projects that Fashola has complted in 6 years as Governor of Nigeria's richest state whose infrastructure has already been built by the Federal Government.

I dont want to derail the topic. I am proud of this moment in history. Lagos needs Eko Atlantic to stand shoulders amonst its peers worldwide. I am proud of the city and wish so bad for it to be completed on time. Happy also to see Jonathan, Tinubu and Fashola in the same picture put aside partisanship to support development.

Can you provide proof for the 3 trillion? GEJ has had far more than that and there is nothing to show for it.

No bro. Its is the other way round. There's no way I would try to use an event of today to justify an event of 7 years ago. You only use the past to justify the present and not the other way round. My grouse with Saharareporters is their bid to use the purported Jonathan action to justify Fashola's purported action. By the way, I am a big fan of Fashola.

They are not using it to justify anything, Fashola did not pay for Kardashian visit, he is not that frivolous.

Genbuhari should change his name to abacha, the only credit Abacha can take relates to infrastructure and the economy, apart from that, he was a killer and too paranoid.

Please cut all the major salaries and allowances that our leaders are enjoying, the money they are looting as well, fix the refineries, then come back to us and we can talk about the fuel subsidy.

joeyfire: OP -God bless you for this topic. Obj's so called privatisation is one of the biggest heists in living history.

A shameful scenario where the government of the day overrides already weakened state institutions to sell the idea of the government being unable to manage its assets and sells those assets to its top figures and their friends. By first undervaluing them and then giving them away for almost nothing OBJ's regime stripped nigerians of their heritage.

I will never agree that govt is incapable of managing its businesses, infrastructure and assets without private hands. I am old enough to remember seeing in the late 80's federal ministry of works teams fixing federal roads in lagos. What went wrong and are we saying that we gave up on accountability and service delivery in public service?

My brother the thing tire me o, what we need is deregulation and proper competition for those public companies, we also need the public companies to be better managed.

And you ought to be shot in the nuts for the rubbish you're typing. How is Ajimobi the traveller better than Akala? At least Akala stayed in the state to work. Ajimobi and his wife travel abroad EVERY WEEK on state funds, with all the estacodes and everything. You think we will forget? How about all the demolitions without actually doing any real construction, just making empty promises in the media? Don't worry, 2015 will soon come, and you will know that Oyo State people prefer the worst PDP governor to the best ACN can offer. Yeyenatu!

Ajimobi is far better than Akala, Akala did nothing tangible in Oyo state.

Prove me wrong bros.

You are meant to prove your assertion, but let me start with Igbos owning Lagos, that one is a wrong, the Yorubas own it, it's like Shaquille is rich but the person who signs his cheque is wealthy, Igbos contribute to Lagos, but the Yorubas have got Political and Economic power, also where Igbos dominate in Lagos the Yorubas are also active, for every Ladipo there is Owode Onirin and if you guys leave today, others will just fill the space (by the way, can you help tell your brothers at Ladipo to get genuine power steering pump smiley ) Your assertion that the east is more developed ( I believe you mean SE, if you have included the SS THEN YOU ARE CORRECT), GDP says otherwise, companies in each zone says otherwise, indices such as roads, number of schools say otherwise, remember that your SE is much smaller than the SW, so, all the roads in Enugu, Owerri and Umuahia might just add up to the roads in Ibadan, the people in both zones are equally poor, from uturu to mbaise to Aba and so on.

tintingz: you are confusin yourself. . .if pagans doesn't believe in satan...why do yoruba pagans call on ''esu''(eshu) or you dont know what esu is?

Esu is not satan or lucifer, bishop Ajayi Crowther searched for a word to call the devil and settled on esu, esu is meant to be a mischievous person not a wicked one, the Yorubas have no concept of the devil.

You dont get it do you? The Prime Minister Balewa was corrupt but the President Azikwe who's Ibo wasnt corrupt.

The Premier of the North and West were corrupt but the other 2 Ibo premiers were not corrupt

Of all the Ministers in the cabinet it was Okotie Eboh a non Ibo who was corrupt none of the numerous Ibo ministers were corrupt.

Let me crack another Joke. Jaja Wachuku a prominent Ibo minister in the cabinet resigned 12 hours to the January 15 1966 coup. How convenient

The coup obviously had a civilian side and that was occupied by the Igbo side of NCNC.

I do not understand what you meant that NPC and Akintola were running things. The national government was still a coalition of NPC and NCNC.

That was in name only, the NPC had the west through Akintola someone who hated Awo the same, hated the Igbos too, they could continue to use the NCNC as a front while Akintola's party checkmated NCNC in the west.

Not probably! That was exactly what Akintola had in mind after Zik went ahead to appoint Anieke despite the protest and resignations that followed. To Akintola, the Igbos were closing ranks and damning the consequences. And let's not forget that Kenneth Dike also protested the appointment and threatened to resign but he eventually didn't.

You are right, Kenneth Dike did not do well sha, he should have resigned, the outcry from the academicians was not even about ethnicity but about the issues surrounding anieke's qualifications.

Bros, I knew about the coalition formed between NCNC and AG. It was not just Okpara. Even the plan to quench the miserable life of Awolowo in Nigerian prisons in Bauchi was thwarted.

As for the case of “The Penkelemes Years: A memoir by Wole Soyinka, I shall not bother to read it because of the respect I have for Wole.

However, Dr Sylvester Anieke was no quark or fraud but caught in the usual tribal politics of Nigeria. If Dr Sylvester Anieke was Yoruba, this instance would not have arisen. Besides, what were the qualifications of Dr. Biabiaku(sp) who became VC of Unlig?

He was not what he claimed to be, he was not a quark but a fraud, Soyinka told it as it was; by the way the NCNC had no choice, its plans to conquer the west was thwarted by Akintola. Dr. Biobaku was probably appointed to balance things, remember the NPC and Akintola were running things and they both hated Igbo guts.

Wow!!! Did you write this form of Negro_ntns? You could not be more correct. It must be a coincidental aura.

I guess Prof. Eni Njoku was fraud too. Because it was the same band of tribal irredentists from Yoruba land that wanted VC of Unilag removed because the professor was not the son of soil. When Dr. Sylvester Anieke was a lecturer at UI, he was qualified and not a quark. The moment Dr Sylvester Anieke was elevated to the position of the chairman of the governing council of University of Ibadan, with another Igbo man as VC, his forged certificate was manufactured overnight. Thanks goodness I lived in Yoruba land. I do not fall for your deceit.

Actually he was relieved of his appointment, it was Zik who brought him back to UI, guess who was the VC of UI, yep an Igbo man whom many Yoruba lecturers promised to standby if he resigns due to the imposition of Anieke.

Negro nuts,

I shall not get into debate with you and naijababe over Dr Sylvester Anieke because I have grown to understand that any position, in Nigeria especially in Yoruba land, filled with non-Yoruba, the candidate or the person automatically becomes quark and unqualified in the eyes of Yoruba peeps. So the case of Dr Sylvester Anieke as the Chairman in Council (governing council) of University of Ibadan was no exception.

Bros go and read Wole Soyinka's Ibadan the penkelemes years, you will find the story of Anieke there, you will also find Okpara helping the AG when it dawned on him that the NPC were up to no good.

Politics / Re: Can You Vote Fashola For Nigeria President In 2015?? by hercules07: 10:38am On Feb 15, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: All those now basking in the EUPHORIA of who they'll vote or not vote for should remember that ONE MAN made it possible for people's vote to count in Nigeria.
That man is Goodluck Jonathan.

Those who think rigging of elections is impossible in Nigeria of today because of "people's awareness" should enquire about the ACN supervised MASSIVE rigging of the 2011 Lagos local council polls. The election tribunal have since nullified three of those elections (though the appeal tribunal reinstated two chairmen because the lower tribunal didn't give judgement within 30days or some other technicalities).

In essence, rigging is possible but one man said NO RIGGING at the national level. That man is Goodluck Jonathan.

This is just to remind those who feign SELECTIVE AMNESIA.

So we should thank a thief for not stealing.

Why aren't Nigerians flooding there, afterall they have 24/7 power?

Why would most Nigerians PREFER TO REMAIN IN NIGERIA than settle in Iran, even with their 24/7 power?

What are you talking about? These people are achieving despite sanctions and by the way, Iran is both a democracy and a theocracy.

The guy is just being emotional, if the Lagos state government were to take care of all beggars, where will it get money to take care of other citizens, what stops other states dumping their people on Lagos State, afterall, Lagos is a Father Christmas, until other states stand up to their duties, Lagos will continue to deport beggars, resources are finite and are required for so many functions that Lagos can not afford to spend its resources in a wayward manner (Lagos needs to improve on that aspect sha, too many leaks in the system).

yar adua let his wife take over

yar adua's cabal pretended he was alive when he wasn't
Till this day it has not be formally announced what was wrong with Yar Adua

Chime handed over
Chime told everyone he was going to be gone
chime handed over to the deputy
Enugu functioned
Enugu even expanded it's building projects
Chime told us in his own words he had nose cancer and was going through chemo but was an outpatient and didn't technically 'stay' at a hospital
Chime returned and resumed power

he did no crime in getting sick and yar adua did no crime in getting sick but the way the two handled it was the issue and Chime did well.
