Christians set up banks, Muslims set up banks, heck, if I had money I will set up a sharia bank. As per non muslim non interest banks, are there blueprints out there? If there are let people put pressure on the CBN to allow that as well shikena. As per the schools, some things are not overt, how many christians will allow their children attend hammadiya higher institutions in naija, primary and secondary schools are being built along religious lines especially in lagos and christians will not attend those schools.

Excelling at sporting activities has nothing to do with your ethnicity, our brothers in the east dominate the national team because they have more people taking up the sport, we have had people from all over the country winning medals for the country, if we put in place proper sporting infrastructure, we will be dominating world sports.

In a sane society, subsidy should be removed, in a country like Nigeria, it will just bring anarchy.

The existing commercial and merchant banks are non Islamic interest taking entities, the banks you ask for are already in existence, if Christians feel so bad or even traditional adherents they should ask for their own types of banks too.
A lot of our banks do morning devotion, a lot of those schools make going to church services compulsory, we have not heard much about that from muslims, the Sharia banks will also sink or swim on their own as long as they operate according to the rules.
Fola Adeola has been running an ethical fund for some time, i will rather put my money with such a person than with born again Cecilia Ibru or Erastus Akingbola.
I do not give a rat behind about Boko Haram, I am Christian not a Muslim, the only thing I just like about them is they are exposing the inefficiency of our security forces and that might make GEJ do something about security, on a personal note, my step dad was a Muslim, attended Christian schools with Gani, married Christians and most of his children are christians, yet, the man lived and died as a muslim, we do not need to treat these banks as religious institutions the same way we are expected not to treat Covenant University as a religious institution.
Politics › Re: Akume Is Senate Minority Leader by hercules07: 4:20am On Jul 01, 2011
Ngige needs to be sat down and taught what the party he is representing stands for, he is a politician with a lot of support from his home state, what he needs to do is to form alliances that will help push projects down to his Anambra Senatorial district, fighting your party and the PDP over a position is not a wise thing to do, at times you lose some battles in order to win a war.
The expansion of ACN might even play into his hands as it is possible that when it is time to field an SE candidate for the presidency, he will be the chosen one, he needs to position himself within the party to become a power broker and he can only do this by bringing meaningful development to his state and by expanding the ACN in the South East, Tinubu can claim to be a godfather today because he has performed the feat in the SW and Edo.
Business › Re: Putting Sanusi's Islamic Banking In Perspective by hercules07: 3:51am On Jul 01, 2011
Why is there so much outcry about Islamic Banking ( started by Christians Joseph Sanusi and Soludo) and none against Christian Higher Institutions, most of the Private Higher Institutions we have are owned by Christians, what muslims did was just to establish their own, infact, it can be said that "higher" indoctrination can occur in these schools than in banks, if christians feel threatened by the Islamic banks, they should start their own Christian banks, lets see how many of them will adhere to Christian principles when it comes to banking .

Using books to learn the language does not mean you should use formal language, you are speaking the language like someone writing a formal letter, it is like learning the english language by writing very formally, please get another book, the one you are using is not good.

Apparently you are not getting my drift, if PHCN can not guarantee 24 hours power supply which will make me jettison my Generator, then they can not and should not increase the tariff, for feck sake, you must have a product to sell before you price it, Google had a product, Microsoft had a product, they did not come to the consumers saying okay we will give you Microsoft Word that will crash 12 times per day, when you pay us more, we will get more programmers that will make the software work better, your reasoning is faulty, let them get money from wherever to guarantee supply and then increase it, that is what most companies do, why should it be different from that of PHCN? Why will they use my money to set up their system, do they not have a plan? By the way if I pay 6000 a month for two weeks power, it comes to 17.8 Naira/Kwh. There should be a minimum service guarantee, you want to increase to 24 naira per kwh fine, availability should be 97%, increasing cost with availability at less than 30% (we have not had power for over a week now) is of no use to me, to whom much is given, much is expected.
The companies close to LASG power plant will be willing to pay even 40 Naira per kwh because they know availability is guaranteed, you can not preach capitalism without guarantees.

I am disappointed, I thought you were a progressive, a man takes a stand that is right and you call that sulking? If the courts declare GEJ the true winner, he will definitely congratulate him and go back to the council of state, you guys ask for our leaders to do the right things yet when someone does what is ethical, you start blaming him because you do not like him, inasmuch as I despise GEJ and his PDP, I can still give props to Goje of Gombe and maybe grudgingly Amaechi on Education, we need to learn to remove sentiments, it is much better that Buhari stays away as the meetings are met to be conducted in an amiable environment not with bad belle vibes flowing right and center.

I pay far more for electricity, I am paying PHCN 15.6 Naira /KWh for the paltry electricity I get and over 20,000 a month for generating my own electricity, now you are asking that PHCN should bill me over 20 Naira/Kwh for paltry electricity while I will still be paying over 15000 a month for generating my own electricity, does that make sense to you? Your total cost of electricity is far cheaper than mine as you have not factored in the cost of fueling generators, let PHCN improve on supply and I will be ready to pay the 20 naira per Kwh, how can you ask for us to pay more for a utility that is meaningless to us, what do I do with 2 hours of electricity at home per day or two to three days without power at work?
Let the electricity sector be deregulated, that way I can sign up with a company that will provide me with 24 hours electricity at appropriate pricing (be it 24 Naira or whatever).
I am not too sure that the cost of electricity will be higher than that of US anyway, I am sure the gas is subsidized, there was a story of Shell promising to generate at less than 10 Naira, it only wanted to be paid in dollars or oil.

Apparently you are not used to PHCN, the rate on their meter is about 9 or 10 Naira, add all their maintenance stuff to it, then they now give you a consumption that is not commensurate with your usage, they call it estimated billing, if you like shout from here till tomorrow, you are paying that bill, in the complex where my company is, we use prepaid meter from the complex owners and we pay 15.6Naira/Kwh, now, this is not the complex guys profiteering, it is the PHCN bill that is passed to us with maybe 1Naira profit for the complex owners. I am even lucky, my partner pays close to 12K a month and he is also on estimated billing.
PHCN should first of all introduce prepaid meters, then improve on their services before increase in tariff.

In the last month I probably had power for about a week and I was billed #6,000 Naira, this month I have not had light for weeks, cumulatively, I can say I have light for about 96 hours and I am expecting another hefty bill, can you please tell me how much you pay per month for 24 hours electricity.

The two groups are taking up arms against constituted authority, no matter their motivation, they are the same, they are both killing innocent people and are undermining the country, most of the VAT in Nigeria is generated from Lagos, should Lagosian too take up arms?
Buhari remains a man of integrity and if GEJ had just 10% of this man's integrity, Nigeria will be a better place.

The problems with our politicians is that while trying to do something good, they commit several heinous crimes, she has so many allegations against her that there is no way she will not be blackmailed, the PIB is not a personal thing, if Allison is not appointed let someone else who is clean take up the fight and make sure that it is passed, as far as I am concerned, she is incompetent.

What is all this nonsense about local content policy, if she is not appointed, get someone else to finish off the job, abi GEJ is against the local content policy? All the president needs to do is to instruct whoever is appointed to finish up the local content policy stuff with 30 days or get sacked shikena. We need to build institutions not strong people (na obama talk am).

What comes first, proper supply of electricity or hike in tariff, why are they punishing us in order to attract foreign investors? I have not had electricity for over a week, yet my bill will come at the end of the month. Our Government needs to stump up the cash to revamp the power sector first before they increase tariff, MTN provided service before giving us killing bills, the funny thing is if there is constant electricity, Nigerians will not grumble too much about the tariff (initially sha o).

Investors are becoming worried because of kidnapping, Boko Haram, Mend, OPC and MASSOB, investors do not want to put their monies in economies that are run by gangsters.
