The doctors should call off the strike o, Fashola should not give them any car, their salaries are enough to buy cars from inspired, why is the guy spoiling them now, okay me sef will join civil service and I must have free house, free health, free car and should have priority on BRT Lane.

I dey kampe o, man must move around for food now, I still stand by my assertion that the doctors are being pig headed, they should wait for their salaries to be paid before they embark on strike, as per the issue of their former chairman, let him go to the courts.
Politics › Re: Nigeria: Patients Groan As Federal Doctors Begin Sympathy Strike by hercules07: 11:31am On Mar 01, 2011
Where are those people defending doctors, how can Federal doctors go on sympathy strike when they are in charge of lives and they are not being owed, are they going to be paid for the one week they are off duty? People will notice that Governors who have other priorities are having issues with the demand of the doctors, Chime has other people he needs to cater to as well.
Politics › Re: Doctors - We Are Not Intimidated By Tinubu' by hercules07: 9:56am On Mar 01, 2011
@Texas

The passage of the budget is not in the hands of the governor, what if the house passed the bill in January and the governor specified march, will they not be up in arms, please lets reason properly on this.
The doctors are asking for a doctor who was sacked last year to be re-admitted when he is already contesting for a seat at the Oyo state house of assembly, he is meant to resign, why are they asking for his reinstatement and please why can he not go to court to ask for his rights.
Someone here has been saying stuff like doctors read all the time, there is no profession that does not require reading all the time, we can not treat doctors as special people, there is no allowance that is also not taxable, there is only a limit on how you can tax it based on the amount.
Texas, our doctors do PP more than any other people, they put in long hours, so does the guy working on a building, everybody puts in long hours, if they can not get their compensation from government, let them go out there and open their clinics shikena.
Politics › Re: Doctors - We Are Not Intimidated By Tinubu' by hercules07: 6:59pm On Feb 28, 2011
@Texas and Muzbo

I have explained in another thread why the agreement has not been implemented, the agreement was in 2010 and was not included in the 2010 budget, the agreement was included in the 2011 budget that has just been passed, the doctors will be paid the agree rate when next their salary is paid, if they are not paid then they have a reason to go on strike.
Texas why should doctors taxes be different from what others on comparable salaries earn?
On the issue of the sacked doctor, if he feels hard done by, he should go to the courts, I have gone to court to compel an employer to pay me what he owed.

There is a civil service law that states you resign your appointment when running for office, the guy should resign.
Politics › Re: Doctors - We Are Not Intimidated By Tinubu' by hercules07: 3:57pm On Feb 28, 2011
Dr I read your post, it is obvious you do not support Fashola's stance, so, the only other stance is for him to give in, I believe the death of the innocent people is on the doctors not on the government, Eko has explained the details of the agreement, the strike is about recalling a sacked doctor not even about money.
Politics › Re: Doctors - We Are Not Intimidated By Tinubu' by hercules07: 3:20pm On Feb 28, 2011
Dr Sleek

So Fashola should resolve the problem quickly by giving in to their demands, so, they wake up tomorrow and feel they are entitled to use BRT lanes, they go on strike and he listens to them abi, na so dem dey run government?
Politics › Re: Doctors - We Are Not Intimidated By Tinubu' by hercules07: 3:16pm On Feb 28, 2011

This is beneath you, we are doing a direct comparison between doctors in Ghana and those in Lagos, nobody is talking about the minimum wage, the impression we are being given is that Lagos state is not paying its doctors enough, a comparison was made to other countries with same revenue as Lagos state and so far, we have seen that our doctors are earning good salaries, compared to other civil servants and doctors from some other places.
Let the law of supply and demand take effect, let our doctors look for employment outside of government. They have refused to be sacked and are saying they will not allow the governor employ more doctors.
Politics › Re: Doctors - We Are Not Intimidated By Tinubu' by hercules07: 12:56pm On Feb 28, 2011

Maybe Fashola should go and bring Ghanaian doctors, afterall we have had them as teachers and there is this ECOWAS economic something that will allow them to work here, I am sure they will be eternally grateful to him.

Using your conversion rate, the doctors are still earning far less than their lagos counterparts, and I have not seen them holding their government to ransom

The people that use siren are from other states or police men or ambulance or military commanders who feel that they are not under Fashola, I have been with Fashola in a traffic situation and no siren was blown.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Evacuates About 500 Of Its Citizens From Libya by hercules07: 9:51am On Feb 28, 2011
It is a good thing that the Federal Government got the people out of that place, we must commend the President and the NEMA people, we should also ask how much was spent to get them out, afterall it was public money that was used. Our problem in Nigeria is not about taking easy decisions, our problem is our leaders do not have the political will to take decisions that will affect the elite.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Urges Fashola To Sack Striking Doctors by hercules07: 8:55pm On Feb 26, 2011
@Eko

The doctors are even saying that they will frustrate government's effort to employ more doctors, imagine the nonsense, let them go and open clinics if they feel they are up to it, comparing themselves to politicians, asking for politician's pay, I am sure if Indian doctors are offered the same thing with security and housing they will bite your finger off, what happened in IT should happen to doctors, we will just outsource their functions, haba, in a state where the needs are just too many, they are demanding for an arm and a leg.

@evilspirit
The reason Union bank is not like GTB is because of the old and tired workers they have in there who long for the days when they had it easy, people who have refused to reinvent themselves, people who prefer the status quo.

There should be elections in Delta state because the rerun came after the amendment of the constitution, abi, GEJ no check with his peeps before the comment? I do not have a problem with the court ruling, it is the house that should have amended that rubbish clause in 1999.

Welcome to Nigerian doctors, the nurses took delivery, the first baby was born at Island Maternity and the doctors did not show up until the next morning, it was the sister on duty that took delivery, infact, the doctor that came early in the morning was considered incompetent by the sister, this was in 2004, the other two were born at private hospitals and the nurses did the bulk of the work, when it comes to delivery, midwives can do everything jare. It is only where there are complications that doctors must be around.
Also do not go around calling people liars, it reflects badly on you.

I acknowledge the importance of the medical field, afterall, my children were delivered in hospitals, where I have issues is when they seem to be holding the government to ransom, the packages described by Fashola is fair enough, why are doctors comparing themselves to politicians, we all know politicians are thieves, do doctors want to have the reputation of politicians?
Politics › Re: Tinubu Urges Fashola To Sack Striking Doctors by hercules07: 5:44pm On Feb 25, 2011

We are talking about lagos, the lagos budget per annum is $2billion dollars, that is comparable to Togo and Benin and not those countries you mentioned, if we were debating the amount being paid by the federal government, then we can use other countries, as it is, we are comparing lagos state to those countries, for your info, the salary of a doctor in Ghana as at 2003 was just under $800, I will look for the current figures.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Urges Fashola To Sack Striking Doctors by hercules07: 5:41pm On Feb 25, 2011
@deer,

The doctor in Ekiti might earn more because his state governor has decided to pay more to doctors, afterall teachers and infrastructure can go to hell, you also need to know that the Ekiti man might earn less but the cost of living is low, so when weighed he is still earning more, Fashola has tried meeting most of their demands (including tax reductions, haba, do you pay less tax than the next man in England?), the one that is grating is the issue of their former chairman, the guy should go to court for reinstatement, I have dragged a former employer to court before and won (stupid employer liquidated the firm and my money was lost), if little me can do that, a guy running for the House of Assembly in Oyo State (why did he not work in Oyo sef, he could prescribe bleaching treatment to oyato governor) should be able to afford lawyers, strike strike everytime, they should try working for themselves, they will hear wen.
The employer reserves the right to sack, the employee reserves the right to drag his employer to court shikena.

Are you trying to compare a trillion dollar economy to a 2 billion dollar economy? Please lets compare like for like, how much are doctors earning in the Government hospitals in Benin and Togo as their economy is similar to that of Lagos.

See your mouth, I am married with three kids and was in the labour room for each one, for your information, it is the nurses and sisters that deliver babies not the doctors, they only come in after the delivery, stay for five minutes and are out of the door. I repeat it that a doctor earning 200K a month in lagos should be comfortable, poorer states are able to pay CONMESS because that is all they do, they pay civil servants and share the rest, if that is what you want for Lagos, then goodluck to you.

Abeg Fashola should go and get doctors from Indian and Pakistan jare, even China, those ones will come for the CONTISS, are we going to spend all of the state's money paying the greedy doctors? Let them go and look for employment elsewhere, doctors that you will not meet on seat, they have PP in other clinics and do misdiagnose.
A doctor earning 200K a month will be very comfortable in Lagos, where are the herbalist jare make man pikin shack some serious agbo. Earning up to 700K a month is armed robber salary, the doctors are just telling us that they are in it for the money, their oath means nothing to them, awon aje lo ju onile.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Urges Fashola To Sack Striking Doctors by hercules07: 6:20pm On Feb 24, 2011
My take on this is very simple, let the doctors who want to earn more money go and work in private hospitals shikena, the Lagos state Government says it has also adjusted their tax regime for the doctors, so, the doctors have got increased salaries at lower tax, someone like me that earns little will pay more taxes than these doctors, abeg, they should sack all of them, they are a disgrace to their profession.
The doctors are even telling the Governor who not to sack, let their former chairman go to the courts if he feels he has been wrongly sacked.
