The American government could technically arrest him in their embassy as he is deemed to be on American Soil, they can also repatriate him o if they so desire.
Politics › Re: Money Laundering - Will The Real Abubakar Atiku, Please Stand Up by hercules07: 10:04am On Nov 24, 2010
Atiku and GEJ are the same thing, one is in power now, the one is trying to get into power, an Atiku presidency will be looting galore, a GEJ presidency will be both looting galore and insecurity everywhere. I want Atiku to win the primaries in the PDP so that GEJ can sabotage him in the general elections. I still prefer Buhari to all of them, after Buhari lets have Ribadu or Fashola or any other credible person the East can throw up ( please dont mention Amaechi oooooooo).

Even the google guys can not and will not claim to be fathers of the internet, do you know the import of that claim? They can claim to be Kings of search (note that they are an advertising agency) not even fathers of search as somebody laid the foundation for them to build on.

I do not deny that Emeagwali is brilliant, my problem with him is the fact that he is being lauded for something he is not. If you checked that link I gave you, there is another Nigerian studying under that Olutokun, only wished I had the same opportunity.

Why dont we take it further and say that the man who discovered silicon is also a father of the internet, when someone is described as the father of something, he must have done a lot to make such a thing happen, as I have always said, Radia Perlman is the mother of the internet ( she gave us STP and link state protocols and so many other stuff), our Emeagwali has no patents to his name, did not write any of the protocols and he takes adulation for being called what he is not, that my dear guys is fraud, he has had opportunities to set the record straight. Radia Perlman has over 50 patents yet she does not go about trumpeting her achievements, infact, I am sure a lot of people outside the technical world do not know her. Please do a google search on Tunde Olukotun and his Niagara Processor, this is a man we should be proud of. This link will help you http://www-hydra.stanford.edu/~kunle/ .

I used to have a minimal amount of respect for the pastor, now that has vanished, the last time I checked Erastus na Christian, Cecilia na Christian, Obasanjo na Christian, have you seen Akala in church, the guy does more than pastors when he is in church. The guy should take his divisive message elsewhere jare. The religion you practise guides your personal life when it comes to governance, most of the guys throw away their religion. Buhari is less corrupt than all the Christian leaders we have had.

When the Ibadans set out to conquer the Ekitis and Ijeshas, they will have passed through your Ife, do you think your people stood up to the Ibadans, infact in the Yoruba Civil war, you guys had to call on Ilorin to help you. You call Samuel Johnson; an eye witness and representative of the British Government to the peace talks a lay historian (he witnessed the wahala live)? He was part of those who settled the wahala and for your information, he was not an Ibadan man. I can raise up my hand and say there were times the ibadans were bested but they always came back stronger, why do you want to push an agenda that every tom, dick and harry knows holds no water. Ife was not strong militarily to withstand the Ibadans and your village was on the path to the East consequently your puny army could not have withstood the Ibadan forces. Thank your stars for the Egba/Ijebus and the Ekitis that were formenting trouble at the same time, your sorry little village would have been our training pitch.

@ShangoThor

We know most of these traditional rulers are just in it for their pockets, the only one I can still try to accommodate is the Oba of Lagos who seems to have the interest of his people at heart, left to me, their position should all be annulled.

@tpia

The magic of lagos can not be replicated elsewhere because most of those leaders are in it for their selfish interest and the people are to pauperized to mount any challenge against tyranny, add in the mix our religious and traditional rulers being self centered and you have bad governance. Tinubu we know is not the most honest person, but, he has the interest of the people at heart, that is why we are getting the little we are getting in lagos

The argument has been civil up till now, do not let it degenerate to name calling; coerced means the colonial master threatening him (ask the ijebus what happened when they rose up against the colonial masters), you say your Ooni can not be coerced, yet he was chased into the bush with his people three times. You can not change yoruba history with your revisionism.
Please answer this question, who signed the treaties on behalf of the yorubas with the English when they came calling?
Politics › Re: Ooni Preaches Unity Among Yoruba Leaders For Yorubaland's Development by hercules07: 1:33pm On Nov 14, 2010
The alaafin stand up for Ooni pe kilo shele, lai lai, the Ooni is the Chief priest not the spiritual head, the alaafin represents the gods, or is the pope greater than Jesus Christ, if the Queen of England had come in the 19th century and early part of 20th, the alaafin will not stand up unless coerced. All these your stories na fabrication, you think the Ibadans will allow an Ooni their enemy of less than 10 years ago to disrespect the Alaafin. You are telling me the praise of the Ooni, look for that of the alaafin, he is ekeji orisa, your ooni worships him.
Politics › Re: Ooni Preaches Unity Among Yoruba Leaders For Yorubaland's Development by hercules07: 9:37am On Nov 14, 2010
Ooni is not the spiritual head of the yorubas, that belongs to the Alaafin, stop getting it mixed, the Alaafin is considered Ekeji Orisa, he represents the gods to the Yorubas. An Oba who chooses sides is a useless one, what an Oba should do is to bless all of the contenders and pray that God will be with them c'est finis and admonish them to do what is right for the people when they get there. You say ooni is not pro omisore, what brought about their differences (afterall they were all chummy chummy abi Omisore no settle?)

Okonjo Iweala tried as the finance minister in the sense that she was a little bit forthright and dedicated to her job ( I actually gbadun Ezekwesili more sha), the debt forgiveness was not only down to her but to the President of the time, people seem to forget that Obasanjo for some reason is loved by these oyinbos, he has real clout. As per people's debt being forgiven, i believe Senegal had her debt forgiven some time ago because they joined the alliance against Iraq in the first war.

Not only have I been in Ife, but I have stayed there several times, one side of me is from Ilesha and before the new road was done, I always passed through Ife, infact, I used to stop in Ife for a few hours before proceeding to Ilesha, also, a younger brother got married in your ife as well and when I was much younger, I lived in ife for about a week, so dont go telling me that I have never been to ife.
Your Ooni should take a cue from the Oba of Lagos on how to help develop a place, if the people of Imo state could contribute to build an airport themselves, Ooni with his connections could have brought greater development to his people. The RCC where he is a shareholder handled the Ibadan - Ife - Ilesha road, that road did not last a year before it started giving way, please try driving on that road today, you will know the devil lives there.
I do not care for the traditional rulers as I feel they are leeches on the people, but your Ooni is the worst of the lot. Bola Ige was harassed in his Palace, he is insisting on Omisore being then next Governor of Osun state whether the people want him or not, his palace has turned to PDP office and the last election was massively rigged in Ife, we are the people on ground and we know what is happening.
He has always caused commotion in the State council of Obas, always insisting to be the permanent head when there are Obas who are more than his equals on the council ( abi you want to compare your Ooni to the Owa Obokun of Ijesha land, make I give you small history), when he was in Oyo state, it took the intervention of the Governor Sasaenia to quell the issue because the Alaafin was giving your Ooni some history lessons, please ask from your elders if you were not born then.

I do not care for any of the obas, I am just trying to correct some impressions. The present Ooni's case is even more galling as he is a destablising factor in his state, he is influential, yet, ife looks like a village. The Oba of Lagos has been of greater benefit to his state in less than 5 years than the Ooni in 30 years.

Chinua Achebe is a brilliant writer, there are other brilliant writers out there, only one writer can win it every year, I believe trends also play a part in the ability to win the prize, the core subjects in Chinua Achebe's masterpieces belong to the 50s and 60s (this takes nothing away from his brilliance).

Inasmuch as the Oyo mesi had serious powers, the Alaafin was second only to the gods, your Ooni is a total nonentity, it is where the King is that is his palace, abi no be when Obama dey inside the plane dem call am Air Force 1?
Look your Ooni was just a priest to the Alafin and in those days God born am well make hin no divine better thing for the land, na hin head go land for ground. Oduduwa is a mythical figure, the Yorubas migrated from somewhere probably Sudan or Egypt, met the aborigines, dealt with them and became their overlords, all those stories of somebody coming down from the heavens is BS. The owoni meaning you dont own it was born to a slave woman, you need to understand yoruba history that slaves who have given good service are favored (maybe his mother had serious bed moves), they rise to positions of authority but they can not usurp the powers of the omo ile.
The Basorun as I stated is very popular, infact, your Ooni is nothing compared to the him, in those days, spoils of war are divided into two, the Alaafin takes half, of the other half, the basorun takes fifty percent; of course your Ooni was also sending gifts else his head will be taken off.
The alaafin controlled the army, infact, in earlier times, the Alaafin went to war with the troops, it was when one Alaafin was killed that they decided that the Alaafin should not be going to war.
The culture of the Yorubas evolved, infact inheritance law was first changed by the Ibadans, they sought approval from the Alaafin who not only consented but decreed that it should be law everywhere.
The Alaafin is not only superior to your Ooni, all the Oyo chiefs are superior to him, they by force must be of royal blood, even the Owa Obokun sef was much higher than your Ooni, just live with it, it is the politics of the 20th century that elevated your Ooni, Sir Adesoji Aderemi ( by all accounts a good man) was elevated by Awolowo, the present Awobadan bi eni n wo oyo has just rubbished that legacy.

It is easy to prove who is right or wrong, who did the oyinbo people sign treaties with regarding the Yorubas, abi if your ooni was the oga patapata of the yorubas, they would have signed with him now, also, how come the fulanis did not have any design on Ife but marched against Oyo and destroyed that town, abeg forget the yarns of that your professor, even what you wrote in your professor kini kini's essay does not give the Ooni primacy over the Alaafin or that the Ibadans did not use your town as their footstool, you think your puny Ife would have stood in the way of the Ibadan army on their way to all their wars in Ijesha and Ekiti lands, why did yorubas try as much as possible to get back the real Oyo town from the Ilorin hordes, abeg go and put down that Professor's book jare and ask the fulanis who they considered the real king of the yorubas, do you even for a minute believe the yorubas originated from ife?
Your professor is telling us about Yoruba history in the 20th Century when our fathers can do a better job of doing that, abi 20th century no be 19xx, if not for awolowo who gave Adesoji Aderemi clout, who born the Ooni? Every time you wake up you should thank the Ibadans for stopping the Ilorin hordes in Oshogbo, else, you for be Aminu abi abubakar by now.

Ooni is not the father of yorubas, that distinction belongs to the Alaafin ( despite his bleached face), the Ooni title is a nonentity in yorubaland, I will concede that the Olubadan title was given just to have a recognised leader too, that one too na nonentity title (but it was held by men of valor sha o).
