After lecturers were sacked following the last strike, curent masters students of the school were made lecturers, these young guys do as they like.

My younger sister is doing a holiday job as we speak so she can meet up the demands of the sorting.
Lakuli it's finished

I recently wondered how state universities pass NUC accreditation test, schools like EKSU, KSU ought not to pass. But i discovered that the vast majority of these state universities are paid tens of millions by their state goverments to deceive NUC's visiting teams. Towards the NUC visit eLibraries that were not functional start functioning, libraries are stocked with borrowed books, faculty offices are stocked, laboratory equipments are borrowed and worst of all manipulation of academic staff list.
Education › The Worst Three Federal, State And Private Universities In Nigeria by HigherEd(op):
1) Federal

University Of Abuja: University of Abuja has been trailed by series of challenges in the recent past from the emergence of cultism to poor academic experience. Students and Alumni of this University repeatedly complain about the terrible student experience...

2) State

Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology:
LAUTECH is a university popular for all the wrong reasons. Embroiled in an age long ownership tussle, today it's more or less an orphaned organization. With over six months salaries owed her workers, the University has become a shadow of itself. It unarguably has the most unstable academic calendar of any university in Nigeria. Many of Lautech's students have found their way to neighbouring universities like Bowen as the university continues in lengthy industrial actions due to the irresponsibility of her owners.

3) Private

Madonna University: Many folks who attend(ed) Madonna University are convinced it is the worst university to be. They tell of tales of oppression, systemic abuse and poor living conditions despite being a private institution. As Madonna's folks continue to do huge damage to the reputation of the school, they never forget to ring out the name "Aunty Philo". Whoever she is, i hope she knows she has the intense hatred of " Madonnians" as they see her as the express definition of everything wrong with Madonna.

"Her" is not just for humans, it's used for institutions & countries too.
I didn't say otherwise. I meant 'her' would have been better since the topic referenced institution/students and not objects. Now since humans, institutions and objects are all nouns then 'its' and 'her' are both very much correct... But people here don't like to be referred as 'it' so i understand your initial objection. But it doesn't mean the title was wrong either.

Isn't it supposed to be "her students" instead of "its students"?

Even I am confused.
"Her" sounds more appropriate when referring to humans. However "its" is a possessive pronoun and is still correct. But i would rather let the title be as Premium times(the source) puts it.

“Before I came in, we had some people that came in 2002 and some of them just got their results last two years. Even up till date, like 90 per cent of them have not received their certificates,” said Julius Adeoye, a 500-level student of the Department of Literature and English.
What the Hell!

Now i know there's just only one good state university in Nigeria - KWASU. The rest are next to thrash.
Education › How Lagos State University Is Killing The Dreams Of Its Students - Premium Times by HigherEd(op): 10:41pm On Aug 28, 2018
On a grey, cloudy afternoon in March, a dozen students at the Anthony campus of the Lagos State University (LASU) huddled around a notice board. Pasted on the board, propped against a wooden bench on the floor, were the final year results of two departments – the 2003/04 and 2007/08 batches of students in Mass Communication and Economics Departments respectively.

But the late release of the results, now a tradition at the School of Part Time (otherwise known as LASU External System) established in 2002, is just one of the myriad problems students in the institution face.
A protracted delay in issuing certificates to graduates, non-issuance of identity cards to students, and delay in payment of lecturers’ remuneration have ensured that the school continues to churn out young people who are already frustrated with the system.
“Before I came in, we had some people that came in 2002 and some of them just got their results last two years. Even up till date, like 90 per cent of them have not received their certificates,” said Julius Adeoye, a 500-level student of the Department of Literature and English.

“LASU is a good university but the structure is bad,” added Mr. Adeoye, who had spent seven years studying a five-year course.

With 10 satellite campuses spread across the state – eight on the mainland and two on the island – and a student population of more than 70,000; the LASU authorities have paid just a passing interest in students’ affairs at the External System.
And the absence of a well coordinated and united student body have meant the students find it difficult to present a common front and confront the university management.
“We have the Ojo (main campus) having the concentration of the management while the external system, which is like the power house where they generate more money, is not taken care of.

“And the reason is because in a conventional university, we have the student union, but in the external system, LASU management has been trying to subdue the body of students who are trying to fight for the benefit of the students. That is why we are having some of these problems,” said Mr. Adeoye, a member of the Students Representative Council.
Perhaps, one of the most worrying things for the students is the non-issuance of student identity cards by the management.
According to the students, some of them have come under severe police harassment and brutality due to their inability to “identify” themselves when accosted by the officers.
“In fact, they arrest some of our students and they take them for (bus) conductors because they don’t have student identity cards to show that they are students of LASU.

“That is why some of the departments have started to produce ID cards for their students because we’ve had issues whereby some of our students will stay for like a week in the police station,” Mr. Adeoye said.
The LASU School of Part Time was established to help solve the problem of manpower requirements of the state among other objectives, according to the institution.
In addition, it aimed to take education nearer and closer to the people of Lagos State through its multi-campus status in line with the Edict establishing it.
A lot of the graduates – who refer to themselves as ‘out gone students’ because “they do not have proofs of being graduates” – say it is difficult retaining their jobs after graduation, not to talk of getting new ones.

One of them who identified himself simply as Tobi said that he was “politely” asked to leave by his former employer when he failed to tender any testimonial eight years after he said he was a part-time student.
“My employer thought I’d been lying to him all these years because he had really supported and encouraged me during my programme,” said Tobi, who finished from the Jibowu campus last year.

“I couldn’t even present to him a ‘To whom it may concern’ from the school. He was disappointed,” he added.
The university, which prides itself as the “preferred university of excellence with cutting edge research,” has a history of delaying, or outright failure in some cases, in payment of lecturers’ remuneration across all its campuses.

Premium Times investigations reveal that the school pays lecturers N38,000 (after a N2,000 tax deduction) per course.
Furthermore, a lecturer must not exceed teaching two courses in a particular campus and a total of four courses in all the campuses.
Lecturers are also ‘forbidden’ from selling course handouts or collecting money under any guise from the students.

“If you are unlucky to have just one course, it means you will be paid N38,000 in four months,” said a student leader at the Jibowu campus..
As a result, the lecturers play their aces – seize students’ examination papers until they are paid.
Ade Alabi (not his real name) is a lecturer in one of the campuses and he describes the challenges he faces as “numerous.”
“The very first one is that there is no proper package, arrangement for lecturers.
“For lecturers to come over to the school, he or she will be hanging around. No special place that we could call an office, for us to relax after teaching the students,” says Mr. Alabi.

When asked if he’d ever withheld students’ results to press home his demands, Mr. Alabi responds:
“Students’ results? Of course, that’s gonna be now. In a situation whereby a lecturer is not paid, how will you expect the lecturer to submit the result of the student? He or she is not gonna do that.”
“In a situation you are expecting your cheque, and you need money for so many things, you are not paid. Definitely, the only avenue you hold them to
ransom is to seize the result which in one way or the other affect the students.”

The lecturers who are either teaching full time or handling just one course are always the worst hit; the current semester began last September and is still unfinished as at April.

“We are still awaiting cheques of close to two semesters now,” Mr. Alabi says.
Serial graft such as the recent allegations of embezzlement of N3bn by the institution’s senior staff is to blame for the crisis in the External System and has led to the freezing of the account in question; the lecturers say they were told by school authorities.
“It is a transfer of aggression that is affecting the students and the lecturers at the same time,” said another lecturer who did not want to be named.

A statement on the institution’s website stated that the School of Part Time was established to operate the various part-time programs approved by the University Senate in its various campuses with the relationship between the School and staff being purely contractual, and the expectation that its operations would not be truncated by “strikes knock-outs.”
‘We are struggling’
However, the university management says they are “struggling” to manage the spate of problems.
In September last, after series of students’ protests at the main campus in Ojo over the alleged high-handedness of Professor Lateef Hussein, the then Vice Chancellor (VC); Professor John Obafunwa was appointed as his replacement.
Sola Fosudo of LASU’s Media and Information unit said the problems at the External System should be blamed on all the past vice chancellors.

“They are responsible for the backlog of unissued results and certificates as well as students’ identity cards,” Mr. Fosudo said in an interview with Premium Times.
“I am aware that the new VC (Prof Obafunwa) has been signing certificates in his office, in his car, in his house,” he added.
Mr. Fosudo also said that they have been having meetings with some students from the External System and that they are trying “to correct the errors of the past.”
“In the next two months, if these issues persist, then you can come and query us.”
Mr. Adeoye and other students say they have prepared for a life of uncertainty after graduation, if the problems are not nipped in the bud.
“Some of our parents sold family lands to send us to school in the hope of after the result, you get a good job, and you buy them lands or maybe houses… But you enter for a programme of five years and you are spending seven years, and you don’t have results,” said Mr. Adeoye.
"It doesn’t make sense that you will spend seven years in an institution and you graduate and you cannot get a result. This is my seventh year and I’m not sure I will get my results in the next three years.”

Sounding confident of his accomplishment, Director of Studies, Starfield College, Fagba, Iju, Mr. Eigbe said every year, the school has a project tagged Director’s Project, meant to produce students with 9As in the May/June WASSCE and also ensure they score above 300 in the UTME.

He said the academic project has yielded results, stating that in 2017 WASSCE, the college produced a student with 9A1s and for 2019 it has placed five students on academic diet to make 9As in the May/June WASSCE.

“Every year, we identify students and give them special attention and David was one of them. David belongs to the high-flying class. Students we put on special academic diet made 8As, 7As and 6As and Bs in the 2018 WASSCE. Our plan was to make ten 9As.

“When David was in SS2, we knew he will make 9A1s and we subjected him to high dose of studies. I have already known students that will make 9As in the May/June 2019 WASSCE
. When school resumes, we shall focus on them.
“Four years ago, Amechi made 8A1s and I told my teachers to work towards 9As. If the environment is right and with good teachers, the students will make 9As.
This is wrong! I can only imagine the amount of undue pressure on these young boys to perform. This is also not good for the psychology and confidence of the "inferior" students. Whatever level of effort is being impacted should be done equally to all students. You are to help them all unlock their potentials and not create an unhealthy elite group in the class...

And i hope you people realise that when you put too much pressure on this "elite group" coupled with expectations from home and they eventually come short of your expectation you would have created emotionally dysfunctional children......

50% of admitted students in Babcock, Covenant, Abuad are 15. He should do a change of course and apply to ABUAD. Getting a scholarship shouldn't be too hard for him....

Public universities don't admit students less than 16 while the private universities usually don't admit students above the age of 21 e.g CU, ABUAD. However, any university senate can easily lift that age restriction for exceptional cases. I'm surprised it wasn't done for this particular boy...

One Jet. And a jet is just a vehicle for transportation. If getting a perspnal car isn't wrong then getting a personal plane isn't wrong.

Universities are not investments but a ministry. Oyedepo is smarter than pouring money into schools for the purpose of profit... He used 30 billion naira to build landmark. That money is capable of building 9 big factories that can generate him and his family cool cash for life. All the factories/farms in Canaanland are owned by Covenant and serves as IGR for the uni. How many real business men do you see investing in university building? Dangote? Otedola? Elumelu? Adenuga?
If Oyedepo wanted to do business he could easily venture into Oil and Gas, Telecoms, Banking and Financial secor, Investment banking and not build Covenant university.
And no the universities are not for profit. It takes 12 Covenant student school fees to pay the annual salary of just one professor. The school has over 120 full time professors with 7000 students. Start doing the math and maybe you would understand universities are not for profit ventures.
If Oyedepo was into business even your Dangote would be a learner in terms of financial networth. But no he isn't!

I don't know how this çould even be possible when one of NUC's requirements for establishing private universities is to provide the Cert Of Occupancy of the land the university is meant to sit on. It seems the new trend is to use demolitions to target perceived opponents. This could only be political. Education › Oshun Ceramics Threatens Adeleke University With Destruction Of All Structures by HigherEd(op): 9:17pm On Aug 23, 2018
STRONG indication has emerged over the growing apprehension in Osun following the threat by a firm identified as Oshun Ceramics Industries Limited to demolish all the structures sited on the large expanse of land where Adeleke University, Ede is located, TribuneOnline authoritatively gathered.

The ceramic firm, which is laying claim to the 120 acres of land around Loogun-Ogbenrin road part of which the institution is situated had already forwarded a letter to the management of Adeleke University over its proposed plan to pull down all the buildings and structures on the land.

A copy of the letter intimating the management of the university about the demolition obtained by our correspondent dated 30th July 2018 advised the university to vacate the land, maintaining that the ceramic firm was in possession of Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), affirming its ownership over the land.

The letter, which was copied Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye and the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2nd Mechanised Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo Barracks, Ojoo, Ibadan stated that “if you know you have built any structure in our land, kindly vacate the place immediately”.

It reads thus, “we are writing to notify you accordingly, that we have instructed Messrs J. Solat Nigeria to clear and demolish all the buildings and structures built on the 120 acres of land of the Oshun Ceramics Industries Limited. During the clearing of the land, the security agents (Army) and newspapers reporters will be present to rebuff any act of thuggery and report any incident in the media”.

But, the management of Adeleke University countered the claim of the firm over the ownership of the large expanse of land, contending that “the land upon which our institution is located, belongs to the university and as stated earlier, a statutory right of occupancy was issued in favour of Adeleke University by the Osun State government”.

In a letter of complaint written to the Osun State Commissioner of Police by the Registrar of the university, Mr Oyerinde Caleb Oyejola, the management of the institution maintained that “the university is aware that an alleged trespass which is a civil matter that can only be addressed in a court of competent jurisdiction and not on the desk of the Nigerian Army or press as claimed by Oshun Ceramics Industries Limited”.

ALSO READ: Police deploy 2,500 officers to tackle planned mayhem in Kwara
According to the letter, dated 8th, August, 2018, which was obtained by our correspondent in Osogbo, “the management of Adeleke University said “on the 30th of July, we received a letter from a company named Oshun Ceramics Industries Limited of their instruction engaging Messers J. Solat Nigeria Limited to unlawfully clear and demolish all buildings and structures built on our land, which is absolutely criminal”.

The letter reads, “the company made reference to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2nd Mechanised Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo Barracks, Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State, the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command, Osogbo and some other bodies in assisting them to carry out this unlawful act”.

When contacted on the development, the Vice Chancellor of Adeleke University, Professor Samuel Ekundayo Alao said there was no cause for alarm, pointing out that the claim being laid by the management of the firm over the land ownership was false, unsubstantiated and illegal.

Alao, who spoke during a telephone chat with the TribuneOnline on Tuesday said the land was given to the Adeleke family by the predecessor to the current Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, emphasising that Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) in possession of the university was issued by the state government

Nice.

But for every good work Ambode is doing, it reminds me of how dirty a place he's turned Lagos to.
What shall it profit Ambode if he reconstructs everything in Lagos but Lagos becomes very dirty and just awaits impending cholera outbreaks?
Ambo, did your village people come after your brain in this matter? Or do you or Tinubu have interest in VisionScape? Or are you just trying to spite Fashola for not backing your ambition initially? What has the masses got to do with that!

Fashola cleaned up Lagos and brought in a functional system of waste management using PSP operators. The private guys invested money to set up their companies. Instead of continuing with a working system, Ambode terminated their contracts just to bring in a company that has no capacity to handle waste in Lagos.

The PSP guys came every Saturday to pick up our trash from house to house but Ambode replaced global best practice with 2 waste bins that can't take wastes from 5 houses for a street of hundreds of residents. Now people dump their waste on the road or patronize aboki.s aka kongis who end up dumping them indiscriminately.

This is one reason I can never look for govt contracts or partner with them. No continuity in Nigeria and every new government ruins your investment without 'sending' you.

Another thing is the lack of transparency in his govt. Under Fashola, Lagos' budget was easily available online and one could easily cross-check with ongoing projects on ground. But Ambode has refused to reveal any information on cost of projects.
I guess this is what we get when Tinubu has a firm grip of Lagos governor. No wonder he kept fighting Fashola till date for wanting to do things the right way.
Please, we love the projects but we also want a cleaner and more transparent Lagos.
I have never taken ambode serious and i don't think i would ever will. Fashola is by far more intelligent than he would ever be..
