Image123:You are right. Sorry for the inaccuracies. I must have mixed it up somewhere. |
mmsen:If they pressure me to pay tithe today would they compel me to come the following Sunday? There are numerous churches in Nigeria that don't believe in Tithing ee.g The Apostolic church(I think), Celebration Church etc. Go there and stop disturbing us |
The level of insincerity in Nigeria is too much. Both the political leaders and followers of Nigeria are of the same element. It is strange how RCCG ordained 3,604 pastors but Remi Tinubu was singled out for attacks. Some even made ridiculous and scripturally unfounded comments about her being incapable of ordination for marrying a Muslim. They would rather ostracise all of our women married to non Muslims. But there is nowhere in scripture where it says women married unbelievers should ostracised. The great Maria Woodworth Ether, the grandmother of Modern day Pentecostalism was divorced three times and infact married unbelievers in some of her marriages yet she did great exploits for Christ. Cities bowed at her message of Christ. Aimee Semple McPherson(Founder of Foursquare gospel church), Kathryn Kuhlman were not perfect either. In fact Kuhlman's earliest marriage was out of God's will. Yet she stands today as one of the few women who stirred America for Jesus. Please stop being Advocates of the devil, whatever great works the lord has started in the Tinubu family should be supported. mmsen:The $16 billion your govt(obj era) wasted in a so called bid to improve electricity alone is far more than the financial worth of many churches put together. We pay compulsory tax to our govt to improve our living standards and economy. We pay voluntary tax to church to advance the cause of christ. Govt chops our money. Instead of us to revolt against govt we do sai baba! And love up to our oppressors. Then we turn to ask how money given to religious houses didn't tar roads, build airports lol. Now let me do a little analogy for you once again ![]() Let us make Aregbesola the manager of Winners Chapel resources for four years and make Oyedepo the head of Osun state for the same period. After four years I'm sure winners chapel under aregbe would be broke and Osun under Oyedepo would be flourishing. As a wise man once said "you either collapse your office to your small size or you raise it your big size. Pls attack the right people and leave churches out of your nonsense." The problem of Nigeria is not the lack of money or resources but lack of leaders with vision and drive. When you see some churches do strange exploits it is not the money that brought it forth but the vision and drive for their mandate. As long as their vision and drive lives they would continue to succeed! |
meobizy:Be shaking your head, please shake it lightly so it doesn't drop because you would still need to do more head shaking in the future! The people who dropped money for it don't know you and are not accountable to you for money they worked for. If they like they can build a 1 billion seater church and it would still be none of your business. Go work for your money and when you are done kindly build whatever you desire.. |
If the quality of people governing our churches were able to govern our nation then Nigeria might just be glorious. Enenche: Medical doctor became pastor Adeboye: First class Mathematician abandoned academia for the clergy Oyedepo: Architect turn pastor Olukoya: First class scientist turn pastor Faith Oyedepo: First class graduate turn pastor Kumuyi: First class graduate turn pastor And the list goes on... Yet you wonder why the Churches are growing in leaps and bound yet the nation is struggling. It seems the best of the best of university graduates are manning the churches while those with dubious qualifications are manning the govt, yet some thoughtless, senseless and directionless people would attack pastors for doing what pastors are meant to do - grow the church! They aren't meant to grow your economy or your education sector but the mandate of the church(whatever that means to them) When they build universities they build the best! Majority of them don't take loans despite having a less rigid source of income yet they complete projects in record time. Most of their 'cities' are electrified 24/7. Many of them are now building huge sustainable cities for their members. Show me anyone in your presidency with the Adminstrative prowress of Oyedepo, or anyone in your National assembly with the Integrity of Kumuyi. But no keep blaming churches for your troubles! Let's see where that would take you all eventually. Congratulations to Dunamis! Lalasticlala here is the source https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1430413790435821&id=444807728996437 |
Asour:In Nigeria, Covenant is the best! |
CodeTemplar: ![]() |
Bobby4090:You are funny. There are numerous folks in CU with over 300 in utme(especially engineering) Covenant is now a top destination for some of the brainiest kids from schools like Presco, Ambassadors college, Loyola, Faith Academy.. CU, abuad, babcock are viable options for parents who don't want to travel their kids out. |
This is what every affluent person ought to start doing rather than the masses asking Oyedepo to run blanket free education for everyone. Today, Jim Ovia sponsores 10 people completely for free at Covenant and another 10 in Ashesi. Even the so called middle class people should also sponsor poor folks in govt unis before attacking churches. One man/organization can establish a university but one man/organization can never fund it alone. Congratulations to Galadima Isreal. Welcome to Hebron! CodeTemplar:When he grads with 5.0 they would say "bring him to OAU he will get 3rd class". With the admission stats in CU now it is safe to say we arguably recruit some of the topmost candidates in this country.. ![]()

Gov Kashim Shettima kept to his word and awarded the Jamb King Galadima Isreal Zakari scholarship to study Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Covenant University. The Govt has approved the payments of all the expenses for the five years duration of his study at the University. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2064781003532248&id=100000011044018 CodeTemplar TheVictorious

newjosboy:He once spoke at Oyedepo's birthday saying that he doesn't desire to live past 80s or something like that. |
Lol very funny rumour. So what would oyedepo do with winners chapel if he becomes rccg successor? Lalasticlala |
Oxford graduates about 700 first class every year. But in Nigeria it is a taboo for a uni to post even half of such result. I hope one day that the Nigerian system is simply stacked for one to fail... If you replicate the Oxford system in unilorin you would see 1000 first class from there. |
NPComplete:The issue of Funke Adejumo is an internal issue and should be left for true christians what to do as regards her. It concerns you not! People are free to disagree with whatever message they are against. However, it is dangerous precedence for a pastor to be censored by the govt because her message is unappealing to some charlatans. The question of doctrine and scriptural truth is 100% a church matter and that is why i would never subscribe to people(non christians)trying to hound her politically even if she is wrong. |
Two things that can ruin a minister: inordinate sexual lust and Greed for money. I wish Adelaja well, afterall even David found grace after so much errors and sins against God. But the only thing that annoys me is his desire to pull down Nigerian ministers that did him no wrong. Lalasticlala |
santricedupas:You are very wrong, leke isn't being tipped as a successor and everyone knows it.. Lalasticlala |
CharleyBright:Whether he has a successor or not the successor will have to wait till he goes to be with the lord. Adeboye's appointment as GO alongside Oyedepo, Kumuyi, Oyakhilome, Olukoya are till death. Secondly, ppl who said Adeboye would handover to Oyedepo are funny ![]() |
This is so sad. Too many corp members are dying this year... |
archymacho:Do you work with PPD CU or you were contracted |
SpoiltVirgin:I would suggest you do that if NECO is not going to come out before August ending.. However, before you do that call the admission office and ask if you could still change. Lastly, you should also attempt Landmark's post utme just in case CU doesn't walk out the way you intend. You still have an high chance of getting your computer science in landmark. This is because lmu would wait till NECO comes out before closing off their admissions. Wishing you the best! Cc Sammiejayh |
CodeTemplar:You have valid questions. I hope it's workable tho Nigeria needs it |
Covenant! We always repping now ![]() Jokes aside i have been to quite a number but CU, LMU and Elizade still does it for me. UI is very cool too Lalasticlala get in here o

HOW TO HANDLE INSULTS Don't get angry because you're insulted. I was insulted by other pastors on National Tv for 7 years but I was too busy forging ahead and getting bigger. Someone asked if we should settle the fight; I said there was no fight. If one boxer enters the ring and there is no opponent, he will go home. A CALL FOR SPECIAL FUNDING FOR NIGERIA'S FLAGSHIP UNIVERSITIES The Times higher top 1000 ranking is no small feat as It would literally cost most Nigerian universities billions of naira to make such list. This means with far more funding, the university of ibadan might be able to do more than it does currently. A well funded UI would also feed virtually all universities in Nigeria with quality Phd holders and would easily rub off on other institutions. It is therefore recommended that the Nigerian government selects a total of six federal universities across the Nation. Each representing the best from their geopolitical zones and they should be given special funding to stand as Nigeria's flagship universities. We need to realise Nigeria can't fund all its universities to World Class. We need to pick 6(one from each region) flagship universities like the ivy leagues or C9 of China and fund it excessively like Ghana funds the university of Ghana, so that those universities can in turn help to solve some of our top most national problems. Those universities would be 1) Mandated to reduce their various enrollment sizes to NUC recommended capacities. 2) Encouraged to put more emphasis on postgraduate/research education. 3) Allowed to determine its fees in line with an agreed aggregate with FG(Not expensive but not outrageously low) 4) Encouraged to do away with Catchment policies and Elds consideration for undergraduate enrollment and staff recruitment. 5) Encouraged to remain comprehensive universities but with a degree of speciality in certain disciplines e.g UI for Medicine/Surgery, ABU for Military research, UNN for renewable energy. 6) Mandated to do away with ASUU 7) Encouraged to tap into industry partnership for more income. cool Encouraged to create an important metric that assess researchers relevance in Scopus and Thompson Reuters web of science and base staff promotion on it. 9) Excessively funded by govt. Recommendation would be to allocate additional funds of 25 billion per university. 10) Mandated to publish annual independent financial audit report by either PwC or KPMG which would be posted on the University website as done by many world class university. 11) Encouraged to have a strong and updated internet presence to boost visibility of the universities. UI and UNN websites looks like junk. 12) Encourage collaboration with research universities in developing nations and developed countries(dealing with issues pertaining to developing nations). This would also increase the chances of getting millions of dollars in grant from foreign organisations. 13) Individual FG ministeries should recommend research work to the university of choice as they deem fit. E.g Rice production in Nigeria with genetic modification(to carry b-carotene for vit A production) aimed at eradicating commonplace blindness in Northern Nigeria. In the event the project is too costly for govt or the university, the university having requisite facility, infrastructure, processes and international collaborations would be able to attract billions of dollars from generous foreign organisations. Case study; Oxford currently has a 5 bill USD grant from Gates foundation to develop C4 rice. 13) Govt set up an apolitical technical committee and assess the performance of these universities across their core mandate, research relevance, international outlook and rankings(especially Times and ARWU) So that would be 150 billion more for our flagship universities. Considering the fact that the Nigerian senate takes just about that amount as its annual budget then that shouldn't be too hard for Nigeria to afford. |
Comparing Other Highly Ranked African Institutions with UI University Of Capetown - South Africa University Of Makerere - Uganda University Of Ghana - Ghana University Of Witwatersrand - South Africa

In the above screenshot it can be seen why the University of Ibadan remains the best in Nigeria in terms of research output. However, when comparing on a more global scale, even the university of ibadan seems deficient. Especially in contrast with South African Universities(e.g University Of Capettown) of her size who churn out as much as 3000 research papers in one year. The likes of Harvard churn out well over 15,000 research publications in one single academic year. The following pictures would reveal just how fair the university of ibadan is fairing alongside other universities in Africa. The Times Higher datapoint reveals a bleak prospect for Nigerian universities as Nigeria's best university seems to be rated poorly on some important parameters. It is also important to note that with the poor rate of publications in other federal universities like Unilag and OAU, Nigeria might not see another federal university on top 1000 for the next five years. University Of Ibadan Times Higher Data Point (%)

According to this Scival tool which tracks all SCOPUS indexed research publications the University of Ibadan has the highest research output followed by OAU and then Covenant university 2017 Number of Academic Department University Of Ibadan - 66 OAU - 90 Covenant - 32 Highest Research Output From Nigeria University of Ibadan - 950 Obafemi Awolowo University - 550 Covenant University - 500 Highest Research Output/Department From Nigeria Covenant University - 500 ÷ 32 = 15 publi../dept UI - 950 ÷ 66 = 14 publications/department OAU - 550÷90 = 6 Publications/department
