Sanwaolu would emerge APC candidate, but that's where it ends. The Lagos electorate would most likely follow Ambode to whatever party he goes to. In the event he doesn't run then pdp would still cruise to victory under Agbaje or Otedola. I promiseyou Ambode would give sanwaolu a gap of nothing less than 300,000 voters in the 2019 elections.

What qualifies these universities as eco friendly? How do they manage wastes, control pollution and curb degradation of the ecosystem in general? Unilag has a top notch waste management and recycling system that has been going on for years, I expected to see it listed up there. Instead op, is showing us structures. It is very obvious you don't know what eco friendly is all about
75% of private universities manage waste better than unilag. One or two also recycle waste, Unilag doesn't have significant green space either. The noise level at unilag is way higher than any other private university i have ever been. Any other point?

Donald3d: While I commend these schools ,when I saw "eco friendly" I was expecting to see schools that use Windpower to generate electricity and electric buses as shuttle buses.
Kudos anyway, make dem no say I be bad belle
I think we all obviously know we don't have that...

Eco - friendly means "least harmful to the environment". The metric ranges from green campus to low carbon footprint and renewable sources of energy... But green campus is a justifiable metric in measuring ecological sustainability in the absense of the others.

As a matter of fact renewable energy and low carbon footprint are remedial means to correct the harm already done by humans. But nature in its untampered form is already as eco-friendly as it can get, therefore green space is still the most fundamental metric that justifies an eco - friendly environment. This is the reason why we go on aggressive tree planting as a basic way to ensure environmental sustainability even in developed countries. So the purpose of this post is to encourage universities who are doing the basic things before we move into applied effort to mitigate harm already done.

So whether its a man planting a new tree, a kid picking plastic for recycling, or a student ditching car for bicycles they are all on the same side.

I hope i answered your objections as best as i could.
Science/Technology › What You Need To Know About Computer Village In Otigba, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria by HigherEd(op): 12:30am On Sep 24, 2018
Computer Village is the largest information and communication technology accessory market in Africa located in Otigba, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

It sits on land originally planned by the Lagos State Government to be a residential area. Today, despite her many challenges it serves as the largest marketplace for tech gadgets in Nigeria. Much of Computer Village troubles range from theft to sale of counterfeit or unlicensed products and a government bent on relocating it, regardless, the economic impact is undisputable.

According to a former minister, Computer village generates about $2 billion annually; the community also generates over 60 million naira in levies for the Ikeja metropolitan area.

A quick visit to computer village would leave you astonished as to the hundreds of young adults working across different layers of the service sectors. Some are marketers feeding the technicians with customers needing gadget repairs and equally feeding the sellers with buyers.

It's an amazing ecosystem! However don't be fooled, you could easily get your hands burnt in computer village. Many today have sour tales of purchase gone wrong. Numerous times, the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has had to raid the community. Personally, I have also had my own fair share of awry experiences at Computer Village, but today isn't the time for story telling.

As His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode reemphasized the Government's age long stance to relocate Computer Village to Kantagora in Abule Egba area of the State, the news has been greeted with nostalgia in Lagos. Some are of the opinion the state should retain her initial master plan designating the area as a residential place, while others especially in the business community think computer village in her present community could be transformed and remodeled into a hive of innovation and a hub for tech startups.

Today, in the business community a number of strategic meetings are taking place to see if the current Computer Village can be salvaged. This is important because much of the growth of computer village has been fueled by creativity, spontaneity and deregulation. In contrast today, Silicon valley, California is home to the world's leading tech companies such as Apple, HP, Adobe, Twitter, Facebook etc. Silicon Valley has enriched her metropolitan area so much so that the combination of San Jose, Santa Clara and southern bay's GDP of $235 billion is nearly equal to Ireland's entire GDP of $238 Billion. Silicon Valley is also home to 74 billionaires in USD. A combination of Apple and Facebook employ about 44,000 people.

Can the Computer Village of Otigba community become Nigeria's Silicon Valley?

Whatever the outcome may become in the near future, one thing is clear, individuals working in Computer Village are averse to the idea of relocating to Kantagora. It is in fact unclear whether the Computer Village we know can be replicated elsewhere. Whatever the case, if it survives it would be a product of a deliberate attempt to save it by the Government and private sector. Its impact will be phenomenal!

..Omisore is the biggest winner in all this simply because both APC and PDP would come begging. If he knows what he is doing, he can negotiate himsrlf into future success. Anyone he backs fully at this point may win the election.

APC does not want to lose this Osun election because it is too close to 2019 and might cause a dangerous chain reaction in the south west, particularly Lagos and Oyo who have the biggest electorates in SW, whom are very unpredictable. Plus Oyo is quite dissatisfied with APC.

Interestingly, the result outcome for today also benefits Ambode. The federal APC has been rattled by this result and would intensify pressure on Tinubu not to cause any fraca that may threaten Lagos for Buhari. Although the fear is unnecessary, as Lagosians are good at dissociating federal and gubernatorial elections.

Dear All,

Info coming out from CU campus as regards this sex allegation case, says their stand is:

1. that the accused official should just continue with his daily duties and assignments, and stop bothering about responding to anybody.

2. that the ex-student in question who started all the whole public outcry on twitter has been discredited as a liar, with his leaked voice notes and the subsequent responses from the other two ladies involved in his saga.

3. that so, the alleged publicly circulated chat screenshots are not tenable as evidences under this discredited circumstances.

4. that anyone who alleges any misconduct should come out and speak up, with concrete and reliable evidences (audio, video, etc).

5. that all the public bashing, raising dust on social media and the online petitions, amount to nothing without concrete evidences.

6. that except concrete evidences are tendered, all allegations will just appear like foolishness and stupidity before MGT board and Papa (Oyedepo).

7. that until persons are courageous enough to step out with concrete evidences, the accused has no case to answer.

Thank you.

So, you guys are advised to either step out with concrete evidences, or stop raising unnecessary dust in the public domain; and better go and face your personal life and businesses. ... Lol!

Foreign schools are into business venture and since we compare ourselves to foreigners at every slight chance it will be fair we do what they do to survive.

To me the most pressing need of the system is blocking of leakages. Even of the business deliver trillions in profit leakages can still bring the system down.
You are very right, plus many universities even in the West are now being plagued by insufficient funding... Examples are ystralian unis whose funding is being pulled. I heard that of Irish too is being cut. Though ours in Africa is more severe. Therefore universities everywhere must find innovative ways to generate huge funding for themselves.

No, it is foolishness to face the message without looking at the messenger. That advise you just gave me led to the fall of man. Eve listened to the devil without considering the hidden motivations for mankind, Jesus was wiser, that yet the devil was not lying when he tempted Jesus with his authority over the earth he knew the motivation of the devil was to destroy man's last chance.

There are many of us that are aggrieved in the spirit about events in the Church. But we realise that Christianity was not founded on social media therefore its problems would not be resolved by it. For our own warfare is never carnal. Christian revival is always birthed in fervent intercession and not mockery of the Guides who hold the torch, however imperfect as they may be.
Education › Nigerian Universities Sell Bread And Bottle Water To Survive - MAUTECH VC by HigherEd(op): 1:37pm On Sep 19, 2018
MAUTECH VC says Nigerian Universities sell bread and bottle water to survive

The Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa State, Prof. Mohammed Kyari has described Nigerian Universities as business outlets.

The VC during an interview with Punch Nigerian universities are now selling bottled water and opening bakery to keep themselves running.

Kyari while responding to a question on whether Nigerian universities have been creative enough to survive the difficult environment stifled by poor funding said the universities cannot be creative when they don’t have the resources.

''How creative can they be and what else can they do? Nigerian Universities literally have become business outlets. Universities are selling table water, running bakeries and commercial bus services or guest house services. This is no way to run a university. It can never fund universities. The bottom line is that as long as universities are not sufficiently funded to do basic teaching and research, they cannot function.

''Creativity will be constrained because you cannot be creative when you don’t have the resources. Sometimes we switch off electricity because we can’t pay for electricity. There would be public electricity supply, but we’ll have to switch off simply because we cannot afford the cost. We require about N20m per month to maintain the university on the public power supply. But, whatever government gives me may be sufficient for only three months of the year, not for 12 months. So you have to be creative. But creativity is in how to run the university with limited resources'', he said.

Nigerian students are not receiving quality education- VC
Another Vice-Chancellor also took a swipe at the Nigerian University system and its effects on the Nigerian students education.

The Vice-Chancellor of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Prof Ibraheem Gbajabiamila recently admitted that Nigerian students are not receiving quality education.

The VC says this while speaking at the 70th anniversary of Anwar-ul-Islam College Agege on Thursday, September 6, 2018.

Speaking on the topic: ''Quality education and national development”, Gbajabiamila said Nigeria used to be a Mecca of sorts for other African countries seeking quality education, adding that the county had lost its glory to countries like Ghana, Tanzania and Gambia.

Thing is, the so called freedom of the West is a sham. You are only free when you reason and act according to their own norm... I dare say that Southern Nigeria is infact more unregulated/free than most of these western nations....

There is no freedom without religious freedom! And there are numerous christians in canada who don't even believe in homosexuality, and rightfully so. A person should have the right to speak for or against any sexual orientation without fear for repercussion. If tomorrow these people say sex with dogs is ok, then we all have to agree or we face their assault... Crazy

I believe the mass migration of muslims into western nations is to correct many errors. Many of these western countries in the next three decades would resemble asian muslim countries. They have rejected Christianity and would soon see the force called Islam. I'm so glad because Muslims are going to do a lot of brain resetting for all these hippish, christian bashing western nations. By the time islam is done with them they would understand the difference between Jesus and mohammed. It's just unfortunate some Christians might equall suffer...
