Time to start scrutinizing every flight that comes in from drc |
First of all I fault the title of this thread. You can't just pick a statement from a reverend of a church and tag it as CAN. That's just mischievous. Any statement from CAN national must be from the spokesperson of CAN. Every true pastor, reverend in Nigeria is a CAN member but you just can't pick their individual statements and make it into an endorsement of CAN... Secondly there is an iota of truth in what the pastor said. There as always been plans for islamic dominance in Nigeria since decades past which understandably has many Christians on edge. Islam is a religion that must be monitored closely. They've found a way into the constitution, currency and military thanks to docile Christians that lived in times past. But I'm finally happy that ppl are waking up.. |
Wait, wait, just wait! Now take a good look at the pics below, looks familiar? Let me refresh your memory... That is EVANS' wife and kids, remember Evans, the notorious kidnapper?erhe, na him family be that...thankio! The clueless lazy youth that did the power point presentation for "our dear president" used the picture of WIFE and CHILDREN of notorious kidnapper, EVANS to demonstrate "EDUCATION's CRY FOR HELP", at Federal Executive Council Retreat On Education at the STATE HOUSE days ago. They can't even stage a photo shoot for something like this? No one noticed?no verifications? I am sure Buhari is not even aware, of course how could he? Those ones there are not better than him sha... dalaman:Anyone who disagrees with 1,2,3 is not a christian to begin with. I don't care what rank or position the person possesses. And no, pope Francis espoused his own opinion which is not part of the dogma of catholism. If catholism were to deny Christ as the only way to heaven then they are not christian either. Simple... There is no difference between Son Of God and God himself. Its like saying "Segun is a son of human and Segun" is human. If you belief Christ is the son of God then you belief Christ is God himself. Christ is a component of the Godhead, he is a distinct person from Yahweh(the father) but he is God nonetheless. I like to explain it with the example of unicellular organism. An amoeba can replicate itself into two. The two are distinct but with the same genetic code. There is no dispute on how salvation can be obtained. |
In 2010 just prior to my WAEC examination I developed wichlow which was badly managed by General Hospital Orile as they gave me Augumentin which I later found out to be non responsive to gram positive organisms. After weeks of terribly swollen finger I was recommended for surgical operation. I went into the operating room and was giving an injection at my palm to numb the pain. And the surgery began. Midway to surgery the doctor said my finger would lose viability. He then asked my parent that he needed to cut the top part of the finger away. With tears I agreed and part of the finger was cut away. After praying to God for healing, instead I developed an infection. But while infected I discovered my finger was growing which should be impossible. Before long I started seeing the base of my nail growing again with surrounding tissue. Now it is well grown and my finger did not lose viability. The infection was also removed by a second surgery at an NNPC hospital. Praise be to God! |
dalaman:Why don't you start by mentioning those "sects that are as different as rislam is to Christianity. |
Very correct. What are the important tenets of Christianity? 1) Jesus is the Son of God and must be worshipped 2) The Bible contains the Word of God 3) There is no alternative way to Heaven except through Christ. And 99% of Christian ministries agree on this. The controversies remaining are usually centered on other things I call minor. Like prosperity preaching, tongue speaking, dress codes etc..... |
I just hope some of these private universities won't start closing down in some few years. The competition would just be too stiff... They are all competing to take a chunk of the middle and wealthy class in Nigeria which is just so small compared to the poor class. I really pity schools like Madonna, Ignidenion - they were the first and failed to make use of advantages of being the first. Now their enrollments has been reducing... I super pity people who graduated from PAMO, Edwin Clarke Uni, western delta uni, SAU, EasternPalm, chrisland uni, leadcity, kolalaide, tansian, oduduwa, bells uni, achievers you might just end up without an almamater in the next 10 years. NUC has just delivered a final nail to the coffin of some of these institutions who alreadybare struggling to get students. |
Almost 300 new universities could be created in Nigeria in the near future to help the west African country cope with its rapidly growing youth population, a senior state official has said. Abulrasheed Abubakar, executive secretary of Nigeria’s National Universities Commission, said that his organisation was processing 292 applications from institutions that hope to become private universities. If all are approved, it would almost treble the number of higher education institutions in Nigeria, which now stands at 163 for a population of almost 200 million, said Professor Abubakar. While many of those seeking accreditation are fairly small and specialist institutions, such as private medical schools and creative arts colleges, the new institutions will be vital in Nigeria’s plans to expand student numbers by 20 per cent over the next five years, Professor Abubakar said. Speaking at the annual conference of the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency, the former vice-chancellor of Bayero University said that a dire shortage of university places in Nigeria undermined the country’s political stability. Only 19 per cent of the 2 million students who applied to university were accepted last year, with about 30 per cent either going abroad or pursuing vocational studies, Professor Abubakar said. “This is a very serious situation – 1 million students do not get access to university not because they have failed their exams, but because the capacity [to admit them] is not there,” he explained. “It is a dangerous thing to have this problem of frustrated youths who are left out on the streets,” he added. Search our database of more than 3,000 global university jobs The shortage of student places is likely to become even more acute over the next few decades, with Nigeria’s population set to more than double to 399 million by 2050, making it the world’s third most populous country, Professor Abubakar said. To this end, Nigeria hopes to recruit and retain an extra 10,000 university lecturers by 2023, above the current total of 62,000 – about 30 per cent short of what is required. “In reality, we need about 88,000 academics to cater for our needs,” he said. Finding more places for students in public universities without being able to charge tuition fees would also be difficult as “you have to provide more staff, more facilities and more equipment”, added Professor Abubakar. “All public universities are virtually free, but universities are deprived because they are not properly funded,” he said, adding that he hoped that “somehow a loan or bursary scheme can be introduced which would allow universities to charge fees to parents of students who can afford to pay”. Meanwhile, creating more private universities would also help to alleviate what Professor Abubakar described as the overwhelming power of academic trade unions. “Calendars have become so unstable and unpredictable [because] when lecturers go on strike they can close universities for six months,” he said, adding that the recent 14 days of walkout over pensions at many UK as was mild in comparison. “When we saw these strikes in the UK, we just smiled,” he said..... https://www.timeshighereducation.com/news/hundreds-new-universities-planned-nigeria-demand-soars Lalasticlala |
This is essentially the same project with FUTA, NASDRA and KYUTECH months ago. However this one is intended to be launched from Landmark University provided they can put up the Ground Station and required Aerospace laboratories within the next 30 months. |
On Thursday 3rd of May, 2018, the management of Landmark University led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olanyanju hosted Assistant Professor George Maeda, the Coordinator, BIRD-4 Satellite Project in Japan and the Director, Center for Satellite Technology Development (CSTD) NASDRA, Dr. Spencer Onuh in a partnership meeting on launching the BIRD-4 Satellite in Landmark University. The Joint Global Multi-National Birds Satellite Project known as ‘BIRDS PROJECT’ is a cross border interdisciplinary satellite project for non-space fairing countries. The project which is supported by Japan is a two-year project which students shall design, develop and operate 5units of identical 1U CubeSats belonging to five participating countries and operated from 7 ground stations. The project is in four phases, three completed and the fourth about to kickoff. So far, the BIRDS I,II and III have been completed in twelve countries which are Japan, Nigeria, Ghana, Taiwan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Bhutan, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Nepal. However, the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA) has facilitated the partnership between LMU, KYUTECH and NASDRA to work on the BIRD-4 satellite project with Landmark University hosting the ground station as well as presenting some of her engineering students to be part of the project. While delivering his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju who acknowledged the collaboration between Landmark University and NASDRA as productive, appreciated the Agency ably led by its Director-General, Professor Sule Mohammed and most especially the Director Center for Satellite Technology Development (CSTD) Dr. Spencer Onuh for their roles in facilitating the availability of Assistant Professor Maeda for the meeting. Professor Olayanju who assured Professor Maeda that LMU will be committed to her part of the project added that the institution will leave no stone unturned till the set goal is achieved. The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that the project, when completed, would enhance the agrarian mandate of Landmark University, which in line with the Liberation mandate of the proprietor base, would provide a panacea to food insecurity thereby restoring the dignity of the black race. In his presentation, Professor Maeda from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan said a BIRD project will take 24 months to be completed and his visit is aimed at inviting Landmark University officially to be part of the project which is scheduled to kick off in October 2018. He spoke on the importance of having a space engineering laboratory in Landmark University; “To fully exploit space for National profit, it is necessary to design, build, test, and launch your own satellite,” he further enthused. Professor Maeda after his presentation saluted the commitment of Management for making Landmark University a world-class Institution by all standards, “I have been to many Universities in Africa and this is by far the best,” Professor Maeda added. https://lmu.edu.ng/lmu_news/lmu_partner_kyutech Lalasticlala

KingOfAmebo:Sorry to say but you are confused. You took a direct hit at Adeboye and claimed people worship him("#worshipGodnotpastor) because they call him daddy yet you fail to explain that the same thing you accused him of doing was done by Christ disciples. What sort of selective dissemination of information is that? compounded by your attempt at claiming Christ exempted biological fathers. I don't understand that verse and I know you don't understand it either so stop using it as an excuse to take hit at one pastor. At the end of the day you've only been successful at kick starting a debate and the opportunistic atheists have jumped on it as proof of how confused some Christians are. |
sKeetz:My point was simple, Christianity wasn't intended to be practiced the way you see it today. Secondly, to nullify that your dictionary definition because it was weak. People could list it as a religion but you can't define it better than its adherent. To some, they practice religion. Good for them. To others we see it as a relationship. Dictionaries, Philosophies cannot define Christianity - they simply dont have the capacity to do so. I understand your obsession with placing us in that your little box called religion though. From there it is easier for you to deal with us or launch your attacks lol As per your usual rantings against God I have nothing much to say. When you've burnt in Hell fire for a hundred years the devil or his demons may be benevolent enough to answer your questions or protest. And yes, I belief that the Jewish Carpenter died so I could live. And my children and children's children would belief in that carpenter just like myself and my wife.. |
sKeetz:I disagree 1000% with whatever dictionary defined the "Religion" you just posted here. What your definition really ascribes to is Theism or Deification not Religion Now To Religion "There is no scholarly consensus over what precisely constitutes a religion. It may be defined as a cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, world views, texts, sanctified places, prophesies, ethics, or organizations, that claims to relate humanity to supernatural, transcendental, or spiritual elements." - Excerpt from Wikipedia Now I do agree with the bolded part of the wikipedia excerpt because to some, Christianity is about a patterned way of worship, sanctified places, routinous behaviour. It is about going to church on a particular day at a particular time, reading hymn. Following well rigid ordinances like don't clap, don't dance, chants and all - that is the kind of Christianity that is dangerous, that is the kind of Christianity that I alongside others who disown religion are fighting against... We understand that people can actually be in that system for years and actually not be born again. Not knowing who Jesus is or what matter to his heart... They are good at keeping rules and can hide away inner most lustful desires that can come blasting out later. True Christianity is in knowing a saviour who loves and cherishes you deeply willing to die for you. And that love just drives you like someone that is high. You would read about Him from the bible and from other authors voraciously, you would worship effortlessly and be moved with tears, you won't fear him at all even though you know he has absolute power and could kill you with a move of a finger. In another way it is like an Orphan lost at birth, now destitute and ravaged by hunger, he finally finds his father. The father is so excited, the son is so excited, they just want to be in each others arms. This is why the bible says that with every soul won to Christ there is a resounding celebration in Heaven. The Angels know what it means to God and that's why they celebrate. The true Christian experience is undescribable with words. It is better experienced. And when you experience it you would know the difference between religion and relationship... Selah |
sKeetz:First of all, Christianity is not a religion but a relationship between earthly children and their heavenly father. And in every family, the way father relates to A is different with the way he relates with B. God created us to be unique in our own ways and peculiar in our purpose. He stressed this point in the new testament with the analogy of a body system where the eyes must understand that it is different from the nose. Though the eyes and nose are different in functions but important nonetheless. Now the problem with Christians is that we fail to understand Christianity beyond our own individuality and personal relationship with Jesus. For example God commissioned John G Lake a great apostle of God to heal the sick. And in the midst of deadly outbreaks it was reported how mighty God used brother Lake. However, John G Lake believed that a Christian must never use medication even if it means death. And on that I humbly disagree with Lake. Because it was the same God who commissioned Lake for the healing ministry that also commissioned Ben Carson for medical science. And Carson also testified of how many times God intervened in his medical practice to help save patients. Towards the 1900s God began to raise Ministers against Witchcraft because at that time witchcraft ruled many parts of Nigeria. The likes of Ayo Babalola, Idahosa and many others took that battle out and were seriously pushed back by forces of darkness. In the next few decades the new generation of Christians would laugh and mock the stories of witchcraft and how they were confronted by ministers. Why? Because the battle was already won. Prior to the 1980s Churches were poor to the point that CAC begged FG to take over her schools because it could no longer cater for them. It was so terrible RCCG founder instructed RCCG never to own schools. Pastorate was a job families never wanted for their kids because it meant a life of poverty. Tags like "church rat" didn't just become a Nigerian parlance. It was to let you know that even a rat inside church was really unfortunate than the rat that were opportuned to live in houses. Then soon men like David Oyedepo rose in the 80s and was proclaiming his ministry would have private jets, lol this was a man eating cerelac with his wife. Oyedepo in one occasion hid away from NYSC camp because his pastor friend had spent his whole preaching time to diss him at Camp for his prosperity message. Which by the way was not even showing in his life. Today I study and I conclude that the move against witchcraft, the prosperity revival are all strategic moves of God for a time and season. Many wonderful heaven bound Christians would refute this and this makes it look as though Christianity is confusing but it is not! |
1 Corinthians 4:15 For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. |

laribari:Another issue. Nigerians hate criticism and like lord over people with whatever small power they get. It happens in churches, mosques, governance and even here on nairaland. Instead of taking criticism and feedbacks in good faith and be resolute they start reacting emotionally... |
Fynestboi:And Facebook and IG don't create groups exclusively for Muslims while leaving that of others open for slur and attacks. That is one of many things that makes nairaland truly Nigerian, because anything Nigerian always have kleg. We go dey manage am sha till a better forum comes around.
