Christianity Etc › Ecwa's Press Release Over The Non - Release Of Leah Sharibu by HigherEd(op): 11:35am On Apr 03, 2018
A PRESS RELEASE BY THE ECWA PRESIDENT – REV DR JEREMIAH M. GADO – ON THE NON RELEASE OF MISS LEAH SHARIBU WHO WAS ABDUCTED BY BOKO HARAM ALONGSIDE OTHER STUDENTS IN DAPCHI, YOBE STATE, NIGERIA

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) salutes the courage, doggedness, and faith of Leah Sharibu who was abducted by Boko Haram in Dapchi alongside other students of her secondary school. Leah is a member of ECWA in Dapchi. She is the only Christian girl among the abductees. She has not been released because she refused to denounce her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as a Christian.

We in ECWA are thankful that the Federal Government negotiated the release of all the abductees including Leah. We are also very happy that 104 of the girls plus two other victims have been released as at Wednesday, March 21, 2018 and are in safe hands. However, we are very surprised and sad that the Boko Haram abductors have refused to release Leah Sharibu simply because she is a Christian and would not give up her Christian faith for her release.

We call on the Federal Government and all its agencies to ensure the immediate release of Leah Sharibu who is a member of ECWA without any conditions. Leah is a law abiding Nigerian who is at liberty to practice her Christian profession to the fullest.
We condemn in strong terms any attempt to forcefully convert anyone from one religion to another. As a church we continue to pray for her release and the release of all abducted Nigerians.

Your daughter is either studying medicine or law. But with usual courses Bowen falls between 650 - 720

How come the undisputed number one private uni ranks 7th on fee scale. It is four times cheaper than some other universities yet arguably better. People should learn to appreciate what's good.
I just finished checking the website of the number one federal uni in Nigeria and I was disappointed at what I saw. The site looks like the average Nigerian hustle blog and yet the FG subsidizes undergrads of that uni with hundreds of thousand per year. Nigerans and crowd mentality are truly like 5 & 6.
99% of Nigerian Universities have trashy websites.
UI, UNN, Unilorin, ABU, Uniport alongside all Federal universities have trashy websites. UNN tried though, with a quite informative website but awful graphics still.

Babcock, Bells, Crawford, ABUAD have super awful websites and zero 'official' presence on social media-too poor for private universities!

AUN, Elizade, Landmark, Covenant are the only four universities with well updated websites, no broken links and heavy 'official' presence on SM.

This is the definitive list of the most expensive universities to attend in Nigeria. The table is expectedly filled up by private universities.

Over the past five years we've seen a lot of changes in the tuition price of most private universities with the likes of Madonna, Bowen, Igbinedion which used to be the most expensive, stabilizing fees majorly due to very stiff competition from existing competitors and NUC's licensing of other private universities.

Ironically, the most expensive private universities are enjoying a good number of enrollments which the cheaper private universities aren't getting. This is because for a private university to enjoy enrollment and thrive it must either offer Luxury based education or become a centre of academic excellence.

Luxury based university education is easier and cheaper to fund. The aim would be to attract students from rich homes and once admitted they would easily sustain the academic and social life of the university.

Research based private universities are harder to acheive because they must keep fees low enough to attract the intelligent talents from the middle class and keep the fees high enough to sustain the university. They must also have a strong financial base which would help fund the academia. By HigherEd

1) African University of Science and Technology
Fees: N3,150,000.00 - 5,781,000.00

*Offers Post Graduate courses only

research findings in U.I college of medicine alone dwarfs that's of all research findings in 2/3 of Nigerian universities!
Lol research findings grin grin
By the way what trumpet is covenant blowing exactly. When/if covenant decides to blow trumpet, you would be hearing it on channels or reading it on punch. Certainly not just their website or nairaland.

Out of all the pastors in Nigeria the only one I have respect for is TB Joshua. The rest are just exploiting Nigerians
Yen yen yen how many pastors do u know in Nigeria? If u like be a pagan or christian that's your own concern. I am only telling you that you don't know half of what any pastor does. And they aren't even obligated to tell you.

Keep quiet oga. Was it criticism that birthed the Christ Against Drug Abuse Min(CADAM). Just in this my area in Ojodu Berger there is a house for rehabilitating Drug Addicts. Fully funded by RCCG. And they've been doing that for long now. In fact they have other branches everywhere.

That Oyedepo that you folks talk about anyhow actively funds 15 NGOs in Nigeria apart from his own DOF. If this people tell you half of what they do you would be surprised.

Only U.I doesn't make noise, yet they are the best.
empty barrel makes the loudest noise.
So tell me how UI is better than CU. Is it by Strike, teaching or what exactly makes UI better than CU.
Academic Stability - CU wins
Teaching - CU wins
Research - CU wins
University Residency - CU is far better
Infrastructure - CU is way better

So how exactly is UI betterhuh

Sir, which priest are you talking about? Father Edeh of Madonna? Because I would still tip Godfrey Okoye Uni as far better than Madonna in the East. Intact I would pick Paul University or Coal city university above Madonna.

This guy are you really a graduate or you don't understand simple English? I cited some few quality research works and also told you that it's one of the metrics for ranking universities (in my previous post).....your mucus filled low brain does not understand that and tags it 'personal achievements' and still goes ahead to list research as a ranking criterion! Your low brain also does not understand that I named graduates of UNN (Dr Omalu) and ABU (prof Nok)...is prof Happi a graduate of Redeemer's university? Or prof Adebiyi dat of Covenant? I don't even want to go into discussing their works with a dumb brain dat wouldn't comprehend ..Go and check the past winners of Nigeria Prize for Science and Literature; there were no winners from 2011 to 2016 due to low quality research ... Ebola outbreak was in 2014....
You know nothing about university ranking; even the copy and paste from Google you still couldn't do it well, so pathetic.
You are a proper fool with a gutter throat.
What part of this does your porous brain not understand
You may do well to rely on webometrics because it is an academic ranking but the ultimate ranking system is ARWU, THE and QS.
. And no universities are NEVER judged or ranked on the research work of their graduates but of the university they work at because it is the student at their current place of work that would benefit from whatever research breakthroughs that they have. But I don't expect a slowpoke like you to understand because your village people must have buried your sense inside evil forest.

I have nothing to prove to low brains, you have no idea on how universities are rated and you come here to spew trash to mislead unsuspecting public...i only cited some great works (one of the criteria used in rating universities) of products of d universities you are calling garbage .....make a list of research works from those your so called 'Covenant Harvard' and let's compare....
Also list the criteria you used in arriving at your conclusion and let's compare it with international standard.
If you don't know how to research for quality information on the internet you can as well ask those who know to educate you rather than coming to public domain like this to display your ignorance.
Where you born with a brain defect or is your head filled with mucor that you cannot understand or comprehend my post... What is misleading about the fact that the unirank rank has nothing to do with academic relevance or are you simply trying to be foolish.
You keep mentioning "acheivements" of universities you know. I can tell you of Prof Christian Happi of redeemers university who developed the Ebola rapid testing kit which was used during the Ebola crisis of west africa, i can tell you of Professor Adebiyi of Covenant who developed the "Evolution proof" insecticide using computational biology. I can tell you about the CAVA projects of FUNAAB. But do we rate those universities in isolation of those singular projects - Absolutely Not!

Universities are ranked using metrics such as Research, Teaching, Citations, Internationalisation, Industry Income and Employability of Graduates.
So get your head informed before quoting me with ur useless comments.

Just try and read about the above mentioned works and the international awards they got and stop spewing rubbish ......
And I don't know what nonsense you are trying to prove. That one man's accolade can define an entire university's usefulness or relevance?

CU is coming up. But I don’t think it’s at Unilag’s level yet.

Sometimes the best way to argue is to present facts.

Standard of admission, quality of graduates, employment prospects, facilities, school environment and how conducive they are, plus academic offerings and R & D.

I don’t see CU beating Unilag in half of these. The Alumni’s of Unilag are also well placed.

At best CU is top 5 behind UI and OAU.
Lol guy seriously!
2016 research data on SCOPUS had Unilag turning out 325 quality research work for all its numerous programmes while Covenant released over 400 for just 32 programmes.... Admission-wise Covenant admits some of the best students from schools like Presco, LJC, Ambassadors college so in turn graduates very quality graduates. As regards facilities Unilag does not beat CU in any way

Can't you read? The writer did not only use the new admission policy of Jamb as an excuse for delay as it was put among many other reasons. Moreover, you can't compare the large volume of students admitted by UNILORIN to that of Kwasu and Convenant
What has volume got to do with anything. All you need to do is tabulate(with system) all your candidates and use a system to rank them by jamb and post jamb score. Apply waec criterion and other senate approved criteria and you have your system generated list. But no corruption would not let that work. All I'm saying is jamb is not to blame for anything. About 7 universities matriculated last year and were able to sort out all their caps issues. The remaining excuses are simply vain.
