CodeTemplar:Yes when NUC calculated it, we discovered Unilag is subsidized by 500,000/Student/annum. And this is more reason govt should fund private universities because they know most of them can't make profit. |
Most Nigerians don't know that most Private Universities are not well funded. In fact even redeemers has been complaining of low funding of recent. Me just thinks it is sheer callousness to take money from the private sector(private uni included) and exclude private universities from those grants. You would understand the predicament when you realise that it takes the School fees of twelve Landmark students to pay one professor's annual salary in Landmark. |
I knew this battle for Tetfund was lost when a school like redeemers couldn't get her Visitor(Adeboye) to openly canvass for funding for private universities. Oyedepo has equally evaded from the issue too. Only Aare Afe Babalola alongside other non influential chancellors have been very vocal about the need for govt assistance. To get any result the Christian bloc might need to encourage the Islamic bloc to also join in aggressively campaigning for Tetfund. But even the Islamic unis timidly campaign for it. Maybe the two groups are afraid of the public backlash plus the Islamic universities might not have the will to even clamour because Prof Okebukola's recommendations for funding private universities would definitely favour Christian uni since they sit on top of most rankings. ABUJA-THE federal government has asked private universities in the country to seek ways of funding themselves, saying it would not look their directions in funding. The government’s response came on the heels of calls by proprietors of private universities for assistance in terms of funding. The position of the government came when deaf persons in the country appealed to the former to establish a special university similar to Gallaudet University, Washington, for them. Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah, who stated government’s position Thursday, in Abuja, while playing host to a delegation of the Association of Deaf People in Nigeria. Speaking at the occasion, Anwuka insisted that it was not the place of government to provide funding support to private universities in the country, insisting that proprietors of the private universities should be able to fund their institutions as the government would continue to provide a healthy and enabling environment for enhanced quality education delivery in Nigeria. The Minister while responding to demands by the delegation accompanied by the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said the government had made it known before now that providing a subvention to private universities could not be possible. He urged the association to tidy up and perfect every document with the National Universities Commission (NUC) to enable the government act quickly on their demands. He pledged the ministry’s support of the initiative while calling on the University of Wesley to encourage Nigerians who had studied abroad to return home. Earlier, in their mission statement, the team leader of the group under the aegis of Association for the Deaf, Dr Khadijat Rashid, said they were at the Federal Ministry of Education to appeal to the Federal Government to establish a special University for the Deaf, after Gallaudet University, Washington. Rashid explained that the special university would cater for over 17 million deaf people in the country. The delegation also sought the support of the Minister towards ensuring the approval of the proposed campus for the Deaf at the Wesley University in Nigeria. Dr Rashid, who is also the Dean, School of Education, Business and Human Services, Gallaudet University, Washington said the university was important to help the hearing impaired citizens experience university education. Dr Rashid had said many deaf people who were Nigerians were working with the Wesley University owned by the Methodist Church of Nigeria. He said:”We want the government of Nigeria to establish a deaf university in Nigeria that will help the over 17 million deaf citizens service their needs. “Wesley university owned by the Methodist church is not depending on federal government funds to open a campus for the deaf. The university has other funding sources. What we want from the government is approval of our programmes and students should be encouraged to come and study at the university. “We, therefore, seek the efforts and support of the ministry and the government of Nigeria to meet the yearnings of the special people in our nation.” Rashid appealed that the disability bill before the National Assembly be passed into law as it had been in the Senate for the past 15 years without any development to its passage. On his part, the Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede said the team had met with the board’s officials and that of the National Universities Commission, NUC, to fine-tune their demands. Oloyede who corroborated the association’s demand said there was a need for the Federal Government to renew its commitment in support for the centre for the deaf in the country. He said that the establishment of a deaf centre in Ilorin for over 30 years needed to come alive for the deaf citizens to actualize their dreams. He added that after the establishment of the centres in Ilorin, funding had been stopped and this influenced the call for its resuscitation. Prof Oloyede added that the establishment of such centres in five other geopolitical zones of the country would go a long way in meeting their needs. According to him, there would be the need to establish and have signers in centres in the University of Maiduguri, University of Nigeria, University of Ibadan, University of Calabar and Bayero State University respectively. AnonyNymous:I remember a time someone I knew(An Anglican) went to redemption camp and stayed close to the alter and she confirmed seeing real fire burning on the Altar. She said some of the aides closeby tried to put it off by extinguisher but the extinguisher deflected until Adeboye said they should leave it. Now personally I grew up as an Orthodox ECWA boy and walking in the miraculous isn't exactly what they teach. But with my experience with the new generational ECWA pastors who seem to be more Pentecostal than pentecostals I saw strange things. I remember during a deliverance service in ECWA Agege some years ago. The prayer became intense and some of my friends started falling and some where screaming. I was terrified so I opened my eyes and thankfully I was able to evade a lady rotating towards me. But before I knew it as prayer became intense I saw a Bird fly over someone's head with a loud sound. I closed my eyes in shock, but to my greatest surprise it seemed I was the only one who heard. So I tell you friend there is more than meets the physical eyes in this world. |
What I don't get also is the phenomenal and abnormal growth of this Church and they've successfully replicated themselvess in other countries. There are now about 700 branches of rccg in UK. This is a country with 50,000 churches in general. In a short while a sizeable chunk of Churches in UK would be RCCG owned. And with all due respect to Pastor Adeboye whenever you go to redemption camp you just understand that there must be a power behind that kind of crowd other than Adeboye's capacity or charisma because Adeboye isn't a Motivational speaker neither is he the first to promise supernatural experience...therefore there must be a very intense power backing that ministry and I am certain it is the power of the Holy Spirit. If Christ tarries I pray his successor works in greater exploits.. Lalasticlala |

Celebrating IDAHOSA #6 (September 11, 1938-March 12, 1998) THOU SHALL NOT SUFFER A WITCH TO LIVE Exodus 22:18 By Leke Beecroft Benin as has been said earlier was formerly known as the 'City of Blood'. It would have been apt for it to also be known as the 'Land of Witches and Wizards'. Idahosa grew up in the midst of witchcraft and idolatry. His late father was utterly disappointed that Benson could not become the deity priest that he had desired while his Grandmum remained a fervent idolater till death. Some months after the dedication of The Faith Arena, then the largest Church Auditorium in the whole of Africa at Upper Adesuwa, GRA, Benin, by Archbishop, the news went round Nigeria, that witches from all over the globe had met in the State of Chicago in the USA and had decided to hold their first international conference. The venue was fixed as Benin City. The Chief Host, an academician of Bini Origin held a press conference and informed the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Benin as well as newspapers such as The Tribune, Sketch and Punch with arrogance that this first world conference hosting witches and wizards would hold in Benin. Church Gist. Soon enough Idahosa was informed and true to himself, in the next edition of 'Idahosa and You', a program of the Idahosa World Outreach, he said it could not be true as it was impossible. The press met Idahosa and asked what exactly was not possible and what were the consequences if any? 'Witches from the world could not come to Benin' insisted Benson, as he would 'kill them all'. The city became a buzz. The press characteristically returned to the Chief Host to inform him about Idahosa's response and he boasted 'Not even God can stop it'!. 'I am a wizard and I know the power we carry' he went on. The next day, all the headlines of the national dailies carried the story on their front pages. Idahosa was informed about the response of the Chief Wizard Host, that God can not stop the event from holding. 'Yes he is correct' said Archbishop Idahosa......... 'That is why I am here, God does not need to waste his time considering matters as trivial as stopping the conference of witches'. Again, Idahosa sought to know how many witches were expected in Benin. 9,800 of them, he was told. Church Gist. His house was visited by pressmen who came to advise him against the risk he was taking by challenging witches openly. 'Witches are not to be toiled with, be careful. Do not throw your life away, it is not compulsory to take up these challenges. You are already known by the power of God manifesting in your life. You don't have any point to prove ' they said. Idahosa responded: 'Those who take care do not take charge and those who take charge do not take care'. The Chief Host had also warned that Idahosa was a busybody, merely risking his life. When Idahosa insisted that there would be no witches conference in Benin, the media then asked if he was ready to tell the whole nation. They told him they intended to arrange a Tv program where he would meet face to face with the Chief 'wizard' to defend their individual positions. True to himself, he replied in the affirmative. Idahosa loved open confrontations. About a week later they were both on air in a live program. The moderator started by saying, 'Gentlemen, we don't want anybody to get hurt'. He then asked Idahosa's disputant, 'Chief Host, are you really sure you are bringing 9,800 witches from all over the world? The moderator got a resounding 'Yes'. He faced Idahosa 'Dr Idahosa, are you sure you are going to be able to stop this conference of wizards and witches? 'It is not that I am going to stop it, I have stopped it', replied the Archbishop now raising his voice. The moderator then told both of them: "Are you really ready? Because I am now going to grant you time to tell us how serious your position is and how strong the power of your God is". He beckoned on Idahosa and the Chief Host and both of them said they were ready. Quickly chipping in, Idahosa requested to be allowed to pray before the program ended as he intended to kill that day. Reluctantly, the moderator accepted. The Chief Host was unshaken. The wizard spoke first and for about 27 minutes, quoting copiously from the old testament of the Bible, sixth and seventh books of Moses, Egyptian hieroglyphics, British writings, Jewish scrolls, Indian Maharaja and other mystical books. As he ended, the moderator asked if Idahosa heard and again he said he did. 'What do you have to say?' Idahosa was asked. 'There is nothing to say. I said the proposed conference is cancelled'. How ? The moderator asked..... Archbishop then opened the Bible and read quickly some passages from Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy and some New Testament verses. He asked how many minutes he had left and was told 'just 5'. "Fine, it is time for somebody to report to his maker" he blurted rising up. There was pandemonium in the studio. With everyone watching, he turned to the self confessed wizard and chief host and asked : "I just need an answer from you and your life is hanging on your answer. A witch is not supposed to live and I intend to kill you now if you are one" At home and in the studio, viewers were glued to their screens and tension was palpable all around. "Now answer me and this large viewing audience in one or two words. Are you a wizard? Just answer, Yes or No? 'I am not' "What did you say because I am ready to pray" Idahosa prompted. 'I said, I am not a wizard' the frightened man replied. "Then there is no need to go on, stand up and leave the studio"! The Chief Host quickly walked out as sighs of relief filled the studio. The Christians among the TV crew smiled and kept giving each other the 'thumbs up' sign. Benson Idahosa began to fire in tongues........ Next morning, the Chief Host visited his office and even collected a Bible. He however still insisted to the Media that the conference would still hold in 7 days. The media returned to Idahosa to inform him. 'Is the conference still holding or not'? "No comments" Benson Idahosa responded "but if the conference still holds, I will burn my Bible. I say it is cancelled". On the day of the opening, there was no conference. The next day, Archbishop Idahosa travelled to Lagos to see the President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, a Muslim. "As you are very well aware, I told the whole nation that the conference of the witches would not hold in this country and you can see that it did not hold" 'Yes', replied the Military President. 'When I saw you and that fellow defending your beliefs and positions, I sent telex to all our embassies not to allow even one witch or wizard into Nigeria. They were all denied visas'. Lol nice try....there is no such thing as a Christian terrorist. Unless you can prove that the founders of Christianity inspired this act of violence through their written ordinance then it has no connection with Christianity. Note: No one blames Islam for muslims killing people since people of all religion kill people including Atheists. However what we are saying is that when a Muslim kills someone out of inspiration from Muhammed(founder of islam) then such a person must be accused of Islamic terrorism. If his act of murder is not traceable to the founder of Islam then he can't be accused of Islamic terrorism. |

At the recently held Covenant University Alumni Eagle Summit which saw many Graduates of Covenant University coming "home" the Vice Chancellor of Covenant University Professor A.A. Atayero reeled out statistics on how Covenant University was fairing in the areas of Research, Teaching, Citations, Internationalisation and Industry Income. The Vice Chancellor opened his speech by thanking the Living Faith Church headed by Dr. David Oyedepo for their constant support of the university, before making a presentation on "The State of the University" to the University Alumni. The Vice Chancellor told the audience that Living Faith Church has been providing 300 million naira annually so Covenant university can have access to Data analytics(in addition to other financial grants) which allows CU to track her progress on many indicators and parameters. The Vice Chancellor explained why Covenant university didn't make the Top 1000 university for the Times ranking of 2017 but assured the audience that come 2018 Covenant is expected to blast through the top 1000 university ranking by Times Higher Education since CU has now surpassed both the prerequisite for ranking and now has over 1000 research work published and indexed on SCOPUS. Bishop Oyedepo briefing Covenant University Graduates on the State of Living Faith Church made it clear that the Church is waxing Stronger as the Church now has 23,000 Regular employees who take their pay from the church(and or its subsidiaries) Bishop also advised graduates of the university to be forthright about expunging bad eggs from their various business establishment if they need to, less their businesses may just crash out. He cited an example saying over 530 Pastors of Winners Chapel have either been sacked or resigned since the inception of the ministry. Bishop Oyedepo also admonished Graduates of the Institution to help fund many of the financially "challenged" students at the University saying he hopes to see a time when Graduates of the Institution would call to find out the number of students having challenges in paying their fees and would help them pay. Pointing to the fact that he himself has been paying for the fees of many students even before the Church started creating universities. He also said that the first 20 and 50 million ever used by for research at the university were personally funded by himself The Bishop also informed the Alumni group that two of the people he once sponsored through school are now Professors at Covenant University. At Prayer time, the Bishop called out the Co- Pilot of the Church Aircraft, a Graduate of Covenant who had equally escaped from the near plane crash of the Jet Conveying the Bishop which happened in September 2017 enroute Cyprus-Isreal and prayed for him never to witness such an horrifying event again in his career. As regards finances of the Covenant University Alumni Office Oyedepo said "I do not want to nurse an adult child, therefore I won't put a dime in it(the Alumni income). There are many Organizations my foundation pays salaries for and we have been doing that for over 15 years now but you have grown..." In conclusion the Bishop Prayed that he would live to see one of the Graduates of the university as President of Nigeria and that they should remember the son of who they are when they get there. He also said "I would be the happiest man if you reach where I could not reach and touch what I could not touch." The Bishop had earlier said that any Graduate of the University who failed to surpass him has failed. https://educationexplorersite./2018/03/15/bishop-oyedepo-winners-chapel-now-has-23000-regular-employees/ Lalasticlala DesyNer |
superhumanist:Amazingly, Christianity is a "senseless" faith led by senseless people in submission to a Senseless Savior. God forbid on Christ return that all He meets is a sensible church... No! For we walk by Faith and not by SIGHT. There is nothing sensible about Peter lunging out on that sea with the intention to walk on water. There is nothing sensible about Abraham believing his wife could give birth at such an advanced age. There is nothing sensible about Oyedepo engaging in a one year fast which resulted to nose bleeding but yet still continued... There is nothing sensible about a Missionary leaving the good life of Europe and crashing out at sea or dying of malaria. Yet more senseless ones kept coming even hearing others had perished! I am a SENSELESS Christian and I am Proud of my Senselessness. So you see man if you want to make any meaning of the Christian life you had better be senseless. |
Jaguntemmy:Tueh sule there are many reasons he could have used "had" 1) Member no longer resides in Germany or member probably now stays in naija 2) Winners Chapel now translates sermons on the internet and Domi radio- which I believe can be assessed anywhere in the world. 3) Member now worships with another Ministry now. 4)Winners now has 40 churches in Germany 5) Oyedepo probably wasn't paying so much attention on the tenses he was using. It is a Sermon not a Speech reading and ministers sometimes interchange words like 'Had' for 'have' or 'take' for 'took' |
Bishop Oyedepo:"We've had A Member Who Flies In From Germany For Sunday Services" At time 40:00 to 41:00 Bishop Oyedepo talking to Graduates of Covenant University talked about the importance of Impact. He explained that without impact there was no way church members would leave Lagos where many other churches(which are very good) existed to come all the way to Ota where Canaanland is located. He cited an example of an individual who comes to worship at Canaanland all the way from Germany for Sunday service. According to the Bishop the individual flies in on Sunday morning and flies back at Sunday evening to start work on Monday(The Individual presumably owns a Private Jet) https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=2495s&v=XmjDMRNjkQs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmjDMRNjkQs |

I pity these European countries, they don't know what we in Africa know about Islam as a political ideology. At less than a Muslim population of 15% Sweden is already exhausted with Islam, they would understand Islam better when they consult with non Muslims in Africa and Asia. People in Africa, Asia and maybe USA understand Islam best because we have been on the receiving end of Islam's brutal force. With Islam in your country you have to be 100% awake or else they would have established an alternate govt in your 'secular' country with a blink of the eye and would even go further to subjugate or conquer you in your own country... This is the reason CAN is always very weary because when it comes to Muslims you really never know their motives. |

Sigh* the North can't be left to rot educationally like this. The southern people are becoming more exposed hence demanding greater leadership while the north is wallowing in poverty and Islamic fanaticism. The average Northerner doesn't know what an Ideal country should be like instead they have been dashed Islam and many of them think as long as they have Islam they are fine and content. But the whole of Nigeria can't be free until the North is freed from the shackles holding her down. And until the Northern people are completely mentally free from the perpetual slavery her elites have placed them in, we in the south can continue to scream in futility but Nigeria won't progress. |

Now this is a State with access to Federal Allocations, Igr from thousands of people and oil derivation saying fees are not sustainable at current levels. Yet someone would go and start trolling churches on top tithe that they don't pay. If Ondo can't successfully fund free education with all her resources then how do some of you expect same from churches who only receive free-will donations... And yes I think Ondo should subsidize fees for her indigenes. Let's leave fee raise for private universities who don't enjoy assess to Tetfund, subvention and the likes. My other advise would be for State governments to leave the business of university education and adopt private universities instead just like the US Fed govt does. Imagine Ondo adopting Elizade University alongside the owners which would help to crash out the fees at the university. The owners build the physical infrastructure while the State Govt can pay part of the recurrent wage bill. This would bring the tuition of Elizade drastically down for poor indigenes of Ondo. |
I would like to know if Islamic Private Universities are ideologically different from Public Universities in the North though(Especially North West) because at the end Al Qalam uni might just be the same as Unilorin. Akinbayo Wahab | 14:35 | 10.03.2018 Apart from the use of Hijab which is compulsory for all female students, here are five rules Islamic Universities expect their students to follow. Islamic universities are not quite many in Nigeria but there are two or three schools built on Islamic faith that stand out. Al-Hikmah University in Kwara state, Crescent University in Ogun and Al-Qalam University in Katsina are three prominent Islamic tertiary institutions in Nigeria. These schools like their Christian counterparts have rules that are designed for the students to guide and conform them to the teachings of Islam. This means that any student who wishes to study in these universities must be aware of the rules and regulations that guide students' conducts in the institutions. 5 conducts that could get you sanctioned at Islamic University » more Students of Al-Qalam University in Katsina writing exam (Pulse) Apart from the fact that every female Muslim student is expected to wear Hijab, here are five things Islamic universities won't accept from their students. 1. Organizing or attending parties As stated on the website of Al-Hikmat University, students of this school are not allowed to organise or attend a party either on campus off campus while the university is in session. 2. Unequally levelled Haircut. Also in Al-Hikmah university, male students are not allowed to wear any hairstyle that is not equally levelled. Such hairstyle as Galas, Obama, Tyson etc are not allowed in this institution. 3. Wearing Jeans and dark glasses Like some Christian universities, the Islamic University in Ilorin also prohibits its students from wearing Jeans dark glasses. 4. Wearing Tight-fitting dresses None of these universities allows their male and female students to wear tight-fitting and seen through dresses. Even lecturers are not are not exempted from this dress code policy. 5. Wearing flip-flop or slippers to lecture room Wearing of flip-flop and sandal at Crescent University is seriously frowned upon.
