Well, thank God it wasn't too serious like that of Peace Mass Transit. RIP to the dead. |
quid:You are beginning to make it look like I am defending Buhari and again, I must state clearly that I am not his fan. But looking at what you posted, I am again standing with Buhari to condemn that move by the then government. In resonating the worldwide condemnation that trailed that state of emergency declaration which turned our military forces to rapists and murderers, raping and killing innocent citizens of Borno, I am also against Buhari's directive to the military to invade the Niger-Delta communities in the same fashion. Let us not be unnecessarily difficult. Buhari is a human being with emotions and sentiment just like me and you. |
Funny |
quid:I saw through everything and I must tell you that my feeling is that of ambivalence. First, mentioning the war results while appealing for peace is an indirect threat and that is quite sad. Nevertheless, I think reflecting on the disastrous impact of the 1967-1970 civil war is needed to remind everyone that war pays no one, and coming from someone who witnessed the gory details of that war, I stand with him on this one. I still beg our media practitioners to desist from twisting reports to incite the public against Buhari or any other person or group. |
quid:I am not a fan of Buhari neither am I comfortable with his style of governance. To put it clearly, I believe he is a misfit as president of this contraption called Nigeria. Bu what I am saying, and strongly too, is that Journalists should desist from heating up the polity with unnecessary mendacious reporting. The media is the mirror of any society through which decisions are made and opinions formed. Buhari was mischievously quoted out of context here and we must condemn it. |
Journalists are the major problem we have in this society with inciting headlines. How does his advise and plea for unity translate to WARNING ? Even those who weren't born during the war, knew how disastrous it was, and the president is being honest. |
Gbege day sleep. But could this be why Obama signed gay rights bill? #justThinking |
Please start from Barack Obama. |
Attention seeker |
Now we will hear it's not this Buhari just as they denied Aisha. SMH |
mamagee3:You just have to delete it |
Dhilariousdandy:I don't know the problem you have with Jehovah witness. I said the payment of tithe was an old testament instruction and you ran to scriptures that was even castigating those paying tithes in mints and disregarding more important things. Does it not show how desperate you are towards defending the indefensible? I am not a Jehovah Witness but doubt if you are better than any of them. |
Dhilariousdandy:The wrong interpretation of the bible is clearly the reason why there are so many churches and the problem keeps increasing instead of reducing. Our society may not recover from this mess occassioned by mischievous fake prophets brainwashing gullible miracle-seeking masses. |
Dhilariousdandy:So, old testament teachings and activities shouldn't be followed abi? Or we should follow them only when it suits us----------because tithing was only in the old and not in the new testament. |
Olabestonic001:You seem to be missing the point here. What we are saying is "simply write to communicate effectively". What is the need of writing in complex termes with unnecessary grandiloquence and lengthy details as if he is writing a textbook. It is the same reason Chris Okotie's sermon is usually ineffective because, like Soyinka, he makes everything very complex when there are better ways to communicate. |
I hope that is truly a ram oh? Because there is nothing these Fulani Herdsmen can't do |
FemiFimile:And who told you that? Find out where Solomon Arase came from. |
Nice article |
Horus:You shouldn't hate bloggers. You should only hate stupid and incompetent bloggers who took to blogging just to attract traffic with preposterous journalism, and everyone hate them. How can someone write an article that lacks facts, objectivity, precision and balance?----------and the next thing is to shamelessly insert a link. |
Ajibel:You may have to read books written by other world-class authors to understand why Soyinka's books are the least read and understood. Obahiagbon uses Latin just as Soyinka uses Yoruba (you will understand this if you have read his books) in both wrting and speaking---------get me right----there is nothing wrong with that, provided that your audience understand the coinage. To tell you the disrepute in using these confusing communication skill, most people acknowledge that Soyinka is a great writer but only few have "really" read his books. The same way people know that Obahiagbon is very intelligent but only listen to him just for comic relief. You must understand here that Obahiagbon has never said anything that is not in the books or meaningless. |
Olabestonic001:What you have just said in his defense is akin to justifying why a graduate of Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo can't speak English language. An effective writer/speaker should know when to draw the line so as not to obfuscate your target audience with lengthy unnecessary details and grandiloquence. There is a difference between speaking/writing to "inform, educate or entertain" and these should determine the choice of words. |
Ajibel:Then he should know when to draw the line. Obfuscating your audience with unnecessary grandiloquence is an ineffective communication skill. Speaking or writing to "inform" is not the same as doing so to educate or entertain. Effective communication is one that must be understood by your targeted audience without much stress. There is actually no difference between Soyinka, Chris Okotie and Hon. Patrick. |
What is journalism turning into, for God's sake? |
Social media!!!! What has the president's picture got to do with this article? |
This is one reason people dislike reading Soyinka's books. He likes writing in difficult context and full of unnecessary details. He only has to tell us that the uncultured attitude of cameramen in occasions is annoying. Simple! |
beautyoftheLord:There is "One Nigeria" only on paper. Believe the ONE NIGERIA scam and you can as well believe you can board a ship at the airport. |
It takes a greater altar to fight an altar. Oga, you have to do everything possible to save that your wife. If you allow her to die, that her statement "my only crime is marrying you" may hunt you for the rest of your life, because there is something you can do-----including killing the killer. We have to be violent to take our kingdom which has been under attack by force....Matthew 11:12 |
How much? |
blues20:An average non-Anioma Deltan does not see them as belonging to the same state. They don't share the same culture. The Anioma's speak Igbo and have the same culture. The Anioma people have a local government (Ogbaru LGA) in Anambra. Infact other Deltans are very angry that Asaba was chosen as the state capital. |
One of the greatest drawbacks of the creation of ANIOMA state is the lack of consensus by the ANIOMA people to either align with the Igbo or the South/South. I remember the ambivalence that greeted the emergence of Amb. Ralph when he became the president General of Ohaneze Ndigbo in 2008. |
tomakint:The power to freeze an account or confiscate any property by any commission is subject to the court's approval. In the instant case, I think the EFCC may have gotten the court order because the bank can't act without a verified court order. Any law enforcement agency can freeze an account but with a valid court order. |
