Etumgbe: no time to read all the write up but all i know is that you should do THEM NO HARMI agree completely that the anointed of God, great or small, minister or follower must not be done harm in order not to incur the wrath of God. However, I must say that it is our narrowing it down to only the leaders or ministers that is more of danger to both these leaders and their followers because it encourages cover up of unrighteousness. When we see a leader on the way to hell because of his/her incongruencies to the word of God and leading the people towards such errors too, and we say, "touch not my anointed", so refuse to redirect them, we are guilty of recruiting more souls into the kingdom of hell. I am more scared of the condemning message to those whom God appoints as watchmen (Ezk. 3 and 33) to warn the people when they fail to warn, than the curse of ministers who want to claim immunity and hide under a scripture verse for complete disregard to the word of God. |
musKeeto: For those unwilling to go through such a brilliant post, i'll do my best to highlight some pertinent points..Your conclusion, "... What's worse is those who claim to truly believe in the faith see this, see the hypocrisy of their own pastors and fellow members.. BUT SAY NOTHING!! How can you comfortably worship God in the same "house" with people who clearly do not have any respect for your "Lord"? Doesn't that make you a hypocrite too?!! - Kails, NL 2013." I'll say, "Man must whack na. As my people go say, "na bizinez'". A lot of these psychophants depend on these same ministers for their daily bread and butter o. How do you expect them to 'criticize' the very source of their sustenance!!! ![]() |
Hey Bobs, when are they introducing e-payment for charity. I'll want to put up an application. There are some charitable things I could do with a few millions of Naira. |
therealMcCain: Please read the entire write up before you crucify me….While I do not intend to take you up on your submissions, somehow, I wonder why in the mention of the case of Eli and his sons, you refused to tell us that Samuel, a mere 12 year old Temple attendant was the one God used to warn Eli of impending doom. You also neglected the fact that Eli's house as well as the army of Israel perished because noone, particularly, Eli, as the High Priest, who held the paramount responsibility, rebuked the sins of the erring sons. |
This is why Christianity is in big crises in Africa, despite the huge followership we have attending churches. There are many more who worship their man-made gods than those who worship the true God. The question at hand now is not how to judge Ese for her sin, neither is it how to judge the man of God. The question craving attention right now is what is the right way forward for the two culprits to heal and be restored and how to secure the sheep from future straying from God. Let's focus on that and stop trying to either villify or justify one against the other. |
;DWhat a specimen!!! I'love love him placed in a zoo where we could all see him live! |
Infomizer: Well argued. What we both propose is impossible in our present society. Both in the more religious (roman catholic dominance) and not religious (communist era) past, society has failed. Reasoning works well in an ideal society but since we don't av dat, I den mentiond dat religion may be part of d solution provided folks abhor bigotry and tolerate reasoning(logic). Humans have the predilection to resort to an atavistic savagery & that may explain why there's always a judas in every 12.To me, this is why society fails, not because of reasoning as you opine.Let the believer respect/tolerate the unbeliever & vice versa & let both parties shatter the practice of impunity. This should work, but it won't since it is not possible given our nature.I have nothing aganst your opinion. I was only trying to tell us that nothing ultimately works without doing it right. Even reason has failed 'modernized' societies as we can see in the imbroglio besetting western societies currently, so I will rather we practice our faith right. If the believer refuses to tolerate reason, what can he do? The world is presently ruled by people who believe in reason and not necessarily religous people. That is why Pres. Biya can overrule and ban some religious organizations with impunity. Let the religious people too get their acts together. Give to Caesar what is his and to God, what is His. This, I believe is your conclusion too. |
Goshen360: The people that fell, are they Christians? After they fell, did that change anything or they still went ahead to carry out their evil intentions to betray\arrest Christ? They weren't Christians and like I said, you will never find Christians in scriptures falling not nothing. They (Christians) are the carrier of the anointing, they don't fall like crazy! Why don't the men of God themselves that claims to carry this anointing upon them also fall - they should be the one falling since they are the ones the anointing is coming upon first. All people Jesus delivered, were possessed and could do anything like falling into fire, cutting themselves, harm themselves - such is not said of Christians.Pls read Matt. 17:6 and Jn. 18:6, you will find specific examples of 'Christians' falling under the anointing. Also, when men of God encounter higher levels of anointing in others they also fall. I have seen it happen often. |
Glamglam:I like that last question. I believe in the anointing of the Holy Spirit and that it could flow from a touch and result in many manifeststions like falling, being "smitten", laughing, crying, shivers in the brain and along the spine and so many others. I have experienced many of such, so I cannot say it's fake. But the main issue to consider is, 'What benefit is accrued from that "anointing"'? I ask so that we may be careful about some unnecessary show by men of God. I know of cases where men of God are annoyed and have complained when some people they lay hands on do not fall. Must you necessarily fall? Are some of these experiences not faked just to please the man of God only? Are some not due only to our emotional state of mind? The purposes of anointing, according to the bible is to break yoke or impart power and authority! Is there any of such achievement in that particular experience of laying on of hands? As far as I'm concerned, laying of hands without any significant spiritual effect is mere show. But when done by the leading of the Spirit, it achieves a purpose. |
Infomizer: I think we are much more religious than the westerners. Maybe not as religious as the orients, but definitely more religious than 'em.I like your reasoning. It is right to question religion and the Christian faith too with an open mind. Quoting you, "religion does not seem to be the solution to our problem." Yes, I agree with that. Merely substituting religion for reason only leads to failure and that is what we are presently witnessing. (Quoting you again) "Why will this country remain in shambles if millions of prayers are offered to the deity everyday (and much more on fridays and sundays)? Beats me folks!". The nation will remain in shambles if all we practice is reason or mere religion. The new Age of Reason developing in the western societies is not helping their issues. There are more dastardly crimes because people are told not to believe in deity or after life, the fear of which kept many under control in the past. That is what reason does to a decadent society. On the other hand too, religion without true practice of faith only leads to people believing that they are safe, as long as they attach themselves to a religious group. That is what fosters the cultism in all religions nowadays. Of course, even if you proclaim Christianity, but you believe more in your group than in your God and His true principles, you are just practicing cultism!!! ![]() Let me give you an example: Remember a group of Christians in Lagos whose pastor poured petrol on some members and lit them up? The members are still existing as a church and supporting their pastor who's now on death row, and who has shown no form of remorse or repentance over his actions. That is NOT Christianity, but cultism. |
ogaju007: that was true xtianity not the business model people run these days. Then, instead of asking for a proscription of Christianity, let's advocate for a return to the fundamentals of the true principles Christianity, relief from the shackles of charlattan ministers and full dependence on God and not on any man. The major problem with Christianity in Africa also exist in all spheres of African life and that is making gods out of our perceived leaders. The same problem exists in our socio-political and economic lives. We worship our mentors for material, mental and spiritual favors. You can see a comment here that says Biya should be live (sic) president. Why practice democracy then? Even if he is doing well today, what of if he changes tomorrow to be bad? How do you then undo the life presidency? See why we are in shackles? The problem is the African psyche, not religion. |
Lordlexy: @HOLY HOLLA. Bro, that pagan doesnot worth your responses. There's no point debating with a blood sucking cultist like him. My mum use to tell me how she lost many of her sibling cos grand pa was an idol worshipper. How little disobedient to whatever nonsense deity, will result to murder, and how they became so impoverish as a result of series of animal sacrifices to constantly appease the demons and lucifer called 'gods' which cost them quite a fortune, not to talk about the trauma they went through. Thank God for CHRIST JESUS AND HIS BLOOD that has permanently rescued us such slavery and misfortune. Thanks so much for that contribution. Sir, everyone is worth a loving, kind and honest response. It's left for them to listen. Jesus made the sacrifice for all of us and took bashings and insults just as we too take on Nairaland and still remain on focus and refuse to bite back. I could have been a pagan too, if I decided to look at my surroundings only and have not witnessed the power of God in action. I was a member of many pagan oriented groups in my school days too, until I had a rethink and discovered the Source of Life. We need to educate each other and I can tell you, I do learn a new thing or two from even the negative comments too. Your submission goes on to buttress the need to fizzle out the bad aspects of culture and embrace more benefitial aspects in other cultures. Isn't that what we also do when we embrace western science and technology? |
PAGAN 9JA:You obviously are in a position where you know only a little of the truth or you just want to be economical with it. Truth is always constant and absolute, or else you cannot call it truth. Go and read the histories of African and Roman slavery and revert to us. Not like you wrote. Slavery existed in almost all societies at a time or the other before the white man came to Africa. All societies have been brutal towards slaves. Europeans, Africans, Incas and others sacrificed their slaves and even legal children at times to satisfy their fetish beliefs. The Indians never allowed their caste system that distinguished slaves as outcasts to die, even till now. But you have your own perceived views different from these. Nothing I've written suggests that the "the only thing our forefathers did was sell slaves". There are many valuable contributions our forefathers made to society and I still appreciate them. One is respect and decorum, which are absent from your style, and you claim to be a legitimate African? You wrote: "To begin with, the industrial revolution and the white mans invasion where 2 very artificial simultaneous events that have disrupted the natural a=workings and ecosystems of things. I have every reason to believe that the established order was destroyed from the day of christiaity's conception. Ever since then. the world has known no peace." How is Christianity the introducer of that which took world peace? And the Industrial Revolution too? I now regret and wish my own forefathers brought that revolution. Would you like it if we returned to status qou ante? Well then, you can return to the traditional ways if you like. No-one has the right to stop you and there are still villages untouched by modernity where you can escape to. The ecosystems there are still favorable for you to swing from tree to tree like Tarzan. Did Jesus "... spread discord, hatred, genocide, destroy cultures, give birth to islam , etc...?"Another economy with the truth. He brought peace into my life, and into lives of many people I know, but for those who oppose Him or use His name vainly, He becomes a rock of offence. Obviously, when you wrote, "... THe one who tries to impose his truth upon another, will get buried under a series of lies", you did not envision yourself. The only reasons why I engaged these diatribes with you is to embolden those who are cowed by your brashness, tell the other side of the story which you dont want published and educate you, perhaps your soul will still be saved from judgement. This is the final lap. I have said enough for you to sleep over and think. |
PAGAN 9JA:YOU, and people like you, who disparage other peoples' views and bully them into silence with your modernized gnosticism which you regard as paganism or atheism, are my problem. The Egyptians started science, maths, astronomy and the rest. The westerners built on the foundations and gave us modernity, no matter how perverse it is. We should sift and take the good and dispose of the bad. But like Boko Haram, people like you sit there lazily and condemn everything not in line with your tradition, just because you have access to technology to express yourself. Does the world revolve around you? Does the world even know you? You'd better give your life to Jesus so you don't suffer poverty here on earth and repeat it in the hereafter. |
PAGAN 9JA:I'm narrow enough to think deep and widely. If you don't narrow down your focus and you decide to generalize, you will just see only the mess the world is in, and miss out on the true developments contributed by many others. Quoting you: "... YOu are too narrow to see the greater picture. DOn't you see how western Universities have now made us dependent on them and their models. TOday even a skilled man cannot get a decent job if he doesn't have a degree recognized from these foreign education councils. They have created a monopoly and made us dependant on them..." See what I mean? The whites are now to blame for your joblessness after school while their own scholars easily find white and blue collar jobs in their own country as well as in yours? Why would a skilled man not set up his own business to perform his skills rather than wait for paid employment? Are the westerners still running your school curriculum? Why not prepare a good and custom made one for yourself rather than blame those who taught you to draw up school programs? How were we independent in the days when our fathrers sold their own kith and kin into slavery in exchange for mirrors. If you were sold then, how much independence would you have? And why do you revert to the Jewish system of liberating slaves after the 7th year of Jubilee and claim it to be African? If it was, how come some families remain slaves all through their existence? I am from a royal family where history has it that my granny buried many slaves within his palace. It took the deliverance from the Blood of Jesus to set us free from the curses they rained on our generations. That's why I would rather be His slave now that He set me free. If you really want independence, come with me to the Lamb who was sacrificed once, and for ALL. Asians, Arabs, everyone, every tribe are getting wiser and seeking the Truth. Even if they are yet unserious, they have taken a first step to true independence. |
PAGAN 9JA:Another one of low pedigree who would not hesitate to boot his father up from an early morning sleep, calling someone idi-ot. Do you realize that's why nobody in his real senses would take Boko Haram seriously? They 'haram' western education but use its benefits. I wish you would go back to your small erosion devastated farm in the village and wear your swaddling clothes and stop being ungrateful for the privilege given to you by the God of the Christians. |
PAGAN 9JA:If I teach you to fish with hooks and nets and you later go to the pond trying to catch fish with your bare hands or a needle, is it that fishing is bad business, or my fault for teaching you my own workable style of fishing? Mind you, Asians too are turning into Christians fast!!! You may want to learn from them. |
Lordlexy: HolyHolla, God richly bless for this insight. Education was accessible by the Christian missionary who entered Africa. Left for them, Africa still would have remain in darkness. If I ever learn that any of these antichrists condemning the white man's religious ways wear Eurapean dresses, use European technology or even attend European oriented schools, I'll never take them serious again. |
PAGAN 9JA:I see you don't even have enough knowlege of your traditional religion, my dear. Not all shrines of Ogun, (Idiigun in some other cultures) do not accept human blood. The historical Ogun accepted palm wine, palm oil and dog meat, but when offended, often asks for human blood. His worshippers also petition him to spill blood of their perceived enemies. Why do you think hunters are afraid of him if he does not. Motor drivers still worship him today to prevent their blood from being spilled on the road by the iron they drive. I happen to come from a family where Ogun was worshipped long ago, and I know how he dealt treacherously with my grands. I'll rather be a slave of Jesus Christ who has elevated me beyond all such powers without asking for any fetish sacrifices. You are yet to learn enough of history too, claiming your forefathers were peaceful. Did you ever read about the internecene wars fought among African, and particularly, Nigerian tribes before the Europeans came? It was a veritable means of enslavement and their slaves were the first of those sold to the whites before they started to capture on their own. If your gods would not intervene to save us from the whites, then of what use were they? Even the "white slave masters" you referred to have now missed it and mixed it up. That's why their societies are declining into homosexuality, violence and waywardness. And you are there, "educating" people to follow their example and cut off the Living God who led them to greatness. You are one of the few who still do not realize that most of our traditional religions were secret cults in nature. They still are, or why would a novice be told to stay at home when Oro or Agemo is outing? Did you learn of the traditional religionists that killed about 100 policemen in Northern Nigeria recently? What are they called? Open religious society or cult? What have you achieved in life to claim that you contribute to society? If you were not there, how many would really miss you? When people like you are bereft of ideas, you resort to insults. There are many such like you insultive people who whenever they run out of ideas only show low pedigree on Nairaland. But I would rather be on same page with the ones who preach (even though, many still have so much difficulty in practicing) love and peace without demanding blood offerings than be with nobodies. |

PAGAN 9JA:In fact, I just asked your "lord Ogun", who is one of the principalities placed under my feet by the blood of Jesus, and he agrees that blood like yours would be appropriate. So, report immediately at the shrine for the disconnection of your head to appease your lord. |
PAGAN 9JA:Then we'll sacrifice you to Esu Odara or Esu Elegbata. Nigerian population will be less by one more of your unwanted types who have nothing to contribute to society. Your fore fathers did not thrive with those gods. They were left defenceless to the whims and whpis of the whites, whose God gave them prominence in the world. Go back to them and see if you will not fall victim of a local religious cult in need of human blood someday, soon. Try . |
He wrote: penny01502: The most wicked people i ever meet in life are christians, though i am a christian, my spirit detest christianity sometimes cos i dont see it as a true religion that fellow the foot steps of our lord Jesus Christ. I think Nigeria should do something like this. quote author=PAGAN 9JA] Reconvert to Traditional Religion of your ancestors. stop hating yourself for the faults of these foreign jews.[/quote]Perhaps he should have been sacrificed to Ogun at birth, so he won't have the chance to write this. |
Mr Aboki: Cameroon just took the very first step to emmancipation...And after 3 decades of ruling, I have Paul Biya's score card right here on my table: On education: 45%. There are still far too many uneducated in Cameroon. On corruption: 20%. His family members and friends are stinkinly rich because of corruption and he has often been personally accused of corruption without any real investigations into the matters. On Justice and Equity: 5%. This singular move of global ban on pentecostals makes him a dictator and unequitable. Even before now, his iron grip on power is the only reason he's still ruling till now. On Religion: 70%. Hitherto, he has been democratic about religion and even accomodating illegality. If he shuts down only churches that are operating illegaly, he gets 90%. But if he includes legally registered ones, he gets 30%... and Cameroon takes the biggest step towards doom!!! |
Last Wednesday, I had to drive through a serious traffic hold up along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. At Isolo bus stop area, I was so pressed, I thought my car would have to take the flood, until got a better idea. I couldn't resist getting out of the car right there, parked on the right side of the middle expressway. I asked the spare parts sellers at the sidewalk for solution, but couldn't wait to get their slow feedback before I faced and pointed straight at other motorists along the road and did my thing. Felt so refreshed as I blindly and shamelessly re-entered the car and drove on. Why are there no public toilets, anyway? |
drake2005: Nigerians should pray I never become the president, I will close down every single church, mosque and worship centers. In fact, all religions banned. If you are caught praying/worshiping, you be shot to death. After one year, my government will assess the decree/ban to see if the change affected the nation positively or negatively. If negatively, the decree will be rescinded. However, If positively, the ban will continue. I say this because...RELIGION IS THE PROBLEM OF NIGERIA, AS WITH OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES.Your proposal sounds good enough, until we later on come to realize that what you are actually saying is that you are only playing dice with our lives. Trial and error things You should also agree that if you find out that you were wrong, we should tie you to the stakes of the executioner. Gbam! |
ebamma: ban all religion, the chinese leaders who are atheist, made china a global force and one of the richest countries on earth, but our bible wielding and koran reciting leaders have been stealing us blind since 1960The three main points you made are disagreeable. If you advocate banning of all religion, I'll equally add that we ban all forms of individual reasoning, then we can turn everyone into zombies. You are very wrong about China too. They are a religious society with various religious groups, particularly oriental religions and including Christians. Though, during the heat of the Revolution, Christian groups were proscribed except for state sanctioned Christian religion, Catholicism, Chinese government have now seen wisdom in allowing more flexibilty. Yet, it is a more glorious time for Chinese economy than during the Revolution. Even if there is no religion in Nigeria, our leaders will still "have been stealing us blind" (sic) as long as we remain corrupt, selfish, materialistic, tribalistic and hero-worshipping. Consider this: Great Britain and other western countries prospered under Christian forms of life, laws and style of living, but now, as they dismantle their values, their societies are being corrupted and the economies are collapsing. Note also that it was Christian pilgrims and adventurers that founded and built the U.S., which also is now collapsing after devaluing their Christian principles. I submit that it's not the problem of religion; it's our African psyche we need to change. |
babsomotde: I just dey lafff ooo. Well, Closing of Churches doesn't stop the spreading of gospel. Don't get me wrong. There are wolves in Sheep clothing. But winners and redeemed, I beg. Let always look for facts and hold unto the truth. Sick people need God to heal them. Drugs sometimes may not work. But not all sick people needs doctor. Abeg... make we leave the matter for mathias. You are quite right. That some are bad or wayward doesn't mean all should be banned. Though the government of Cameroon and their supporters see death to the churches, I see a development that will lead to a great revival, where the fake would fizzle out and the true worshippers would grow strong in the face of persecution... Separating the sheep from the goats, it is. |
kulyie: look away kePray, one day, you will not see a dangling python that would give you nightmares for a long time. |
Simple answer; because... there are hardly any public toilets where there are, they are not clean or decent enough particularly, MY POTTY DOESN'T FIT INTO MY TROUSER POCKETS and I could be mistaken for a thief and get lynched if I enter someone else's house. So, WAI or KAI, as man must weewee I've got to stand and do it by the roadsides at times till you build me nice, clean bathrooms on every street corner. |
mooregan: If u want to go that way, When person dey Army, e no de get businesses?? U pple don't think b4 talking.Sorry to have commented on your post. I didnt know you are one of those who cannot make a statement with decorum and decency. |
ITbomb: There is nowhere we are going to question everybody that gives us money unless it is obviously questionableHow then, is it not obviously questionable for an army officer, not a known industrialist or trader, to give donations of N9million and N2million? What is his annual salary and given the fact that he also has other responsibilities? Come on, no need to defend the defenceless except churches just want to encourage corruption. |
