There's no need sugar coating it,our economy isn't favourable to them. Nothing works in Nigeria. If not that Multichoice is a South African company,it would've folded up since, and we would've been stuck with just NTA,TVC,SILVERBIRD, CHANNELS,AIT, GALAXY,etc.

Good day to you all,let us talk about the electricity situation in our areas.

Here in Cele--Ijaniki LA. we hardly see light, and the power supply was intermittent since yesterday's afternoon, till now it has not been restored.

We can't even boast of 6 hours power supply in my area. During this lock-down, there should be power so as to make us stay indoor, listen to news, and be current with daily happenings.

Why is this country like this? Since 1960 till date we are still battling for a stable power supply.

Our leaders have failed us. Lovely people of Nairaland, how is it in your area?
It is terrible here in Iju Ishaga. The light went from bad to worse after the govt announced 2month free electricity. I don't know if that's the reason.

She opted in for this on going Big Brother Naija PepperDem season where she commended one of the most beautiful female housemate, Diane for speaking against Tacha who has been so saucy in the house from the start.

CeeC showed her support for Diane in the process, see what she wrote...

But I'm one who is intolerant of indecent exposure of the body, that's one thing I have against bbigbrother naija. You know this woman called Tacha is known for posting erotic and indecent content on her instagram, you still let her in the show. I know she has some powerful people behind her. All those people shouting for the show to be banned. I hope they remember that the organizers were queried for taking it to SA. Now that the show is on our soil, you won't imagine how much tax they're going to pay Lagos state. Directly or indirectly, they're going to profit from the show.
Politics / Re: BBNaija: Fani-Kayode Blasts MURIC For Demanding A Ban On Reality TV Show by HomeOfMe(f): 11:31pm On Jul 12, 2019
Despirado121:
Former Minister Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the petition written by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) calling for a ban on Big Brother Naija show.

On Friday, it was reported that MURIC wrote a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari calling on him to ensure that the airing of the 2019 edition of the reality television show, Big Brother Naija is put to a stop immediately.

The Muslim group,in a statement issued by Professor Ishaq Akintola, its Director, labelled the reality show as ‘immoral, dangerous and bohemian’, Fox Meek reports.

However, Fani-Kayode took to his official Twitter page to give a response to the petition written by the Muslim group while also accusing its Direc, Akintola of being addicted to the reality show.

“Sheik Akintola of MURIC wants @BBNaijafan banned ONLY because he is addicted to the show and each time he watches it he has a loud, explosive and uncontrollable orgasm and fires an accidental discharge into his pants. So much for being a pious and disciplined scholar and cleric,” Femi Fani-Kayode in a tweet on Friday said.

While also providing a 'solution', Fani-Kayode said; “The solution to the problem is not to ban @BBNaijafan but for Akintola to get help to break his addiction, stop watching the show and either turn the television off or change the channel! He should also get his wife to be a little bit more entertaining and adventurous in bed!.”

My dear NLders. Please your advice and guidance is needed once again. I lost a dear friend and colleague last Dec. He was involved in an accident with his wife (see previous link)https://www.nairaland.com/4914859/how-one-plan-funeral-close#74038218. Six months after the burial his family has refused to release the only child from the union to the young widow. All efforts to settle the matter within the family amounted to an exercise in futility. We have contacted the Min of women affairs in Benin but they haven't done anything yet. The lady who is yet to fully recover (bedridden) from the accident is really saddened by this development. Right now she has run out of ideas on where to seek help. Her current state of health isn't helping matters. Anyone with info on how to reunite mother and child kindly give your suggestions here.

PS. The child is only 2.
She should just focus on her health first. When she's fully recovered and gain back her strength and energy, then she can start fighting for her child's custody.

In a bid to achieve an all round success in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Dah Gbediga, president of the indigenous religions of Benin and other vodunsi practitioners have offered voodoo prayers for their national team who shocked Morocco on penalties in the round of 16, to record its first ever victory in the competition and advance to a quarter-final showdown with Senegal on Wednesday.

The voodoo priests sacrificed a goat and three sheep behind closed doors, after which Dah Gbediga emerged with his chest bared accompanied by a toothless priestess in her sixties who led the prayers in front of around a hundred followers. According to the worshippers, it was a "special ceremony to support the Squirrels".

Recoutning how he has been praying for the team before the tournament began, Dah Gbediga told AFP;

Science/Technology / Re: Elephants Thrive In Ogun’s Wild Forest by HomeOfMe(f): 4:18pm On Jul 06, 2019
actiondrilling:
The jungle was so thick that Emmanuel Olabode only found the elephants he was tracking when the great matriarch’s sniffing trunk reached out close enough to almost touch.

“She flapped her ears, blocking us to guard her family, then left in peace,” recalls Olabode. “It was extraordinary.”

The elusive elephants are just 100 kilometres from Lagos, Nigeria’s economic capital.

“They are scared of humans,” says Olabode, who leads the Forest Elephant Initiative, a conservation group in the Omo Forest, northeast of Lagos. “So they are active at night.”

Forest elephants are the shy relations of their larger savannah cousins and are experts at hiding; so skilled, in fact, very few in the city know about them.

The crowded concrete jungle of Lagos is better known for wild nightlife than nighttime wildlife.

“When people hear about the elephants, they do not believe it,” says Joy Adeosun, a government scientist working with Olabode.

“They are in shock,” adds Adeosun, fixing a motion-sensitive camera that has not only snapped elephants, but antelope, buffalo and chimpanzees too.

Omo, spreading across some 1,325 square kilometers of Ogun state, was protected as a government reserve nearly a century ago.

A UNESCO “biosphere reserve” of global importance, it is one of the last patches of pristine rainforest left in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s deforestation rates are among the highest in the world, according to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization.

“Chopping down trees is easy,” says Olabode, whose team of eight community rangers are overstretched.

“But if the forest goes, the whole ecosystem changes. The rains reduce, then the farms lose fertility. Everyone suffers.”

Half of the forest, a 650-square-kilometre area, is reserved for wildlife and logging is banned.

Researchers had feared only a handful of elephants were left. Then, in April 2018, the elephants burst out of the jungle.

Drivers slammed on their brakes as herds stampeded across a four-lane highway, with desperate mother elephants trying to smash central barriers for babies to cross, rangers said.

“They were looking for a new home,” Olabode explains, suggesting quarry blasts could have been the final straw.

Many were chased back, although some found a happy hideout even closer to the city.

Olabode now believes there could be a hundred elephants in Omo — but their remarkable survival is under threat like never before as their forest home is in danger.

Africa Nature Investors (ANI), a Nigerian conservation foundation, plans to develop eco-tourism to protect the forest.

“It will provide alternative employment,” says Filip Van Trier, a Belgian businessman brought up in Nigeria, outlining funding proposals he is heading for ANI, including tripling ranger numbers.

“But first we have to stop the logging.”

At dawn in Omo, monkey chatter echoes across misty treetops.

Then there is the echo of a gunshot, signalling that a hunter is in the forest. Soon after, the whine of chainsaws begins.

Both poachers and ivory dealers risk five years in prison — if laws were enforced.

In Omo, Olabode and his tiny team trek each day through the forests, trying to stop its destruction.

“If we let the forest go, people will say, ‘we should have protected the elephants’,” he says. “But by then, it will be too late.”

2019 Big Brother Naija Housemates, Omashola who was at the verge of been evicted from the big brother house escape eviction narrowly after his team won the first BBNaija games night.

Recall yesterday Big brother through the head of house disclosed that the housemates with the least BetNaija coin will be leaving the house on Sunday which will be the first eviction night of the game.

One will say Fortune has found Omashola who was at the skirt of losing his stay in the Big Brother house after the Warri born housemates teams won the games on Friday night giving him more of the Bet9ja coin.

The main open door for housemates who needed more coins like different housemates was to win the Bet 9ja Get Arena Friday Night Game. Being their first time of playing the game, Omashola and his group members turned out in flying hues and this earned them a trophy and an absolute total of 700 coins.

Omashola, Gedoni, Nelson and a couple of others figured out how to get more coins after their astounding performance at the Arena Friday Night Game.

Omashola who prior had 20 coins is currently on another level with an absolute number of 120 coins in the wake of winning the Bet 9ja Arena Game.

See more photos from the games below:

Sense in what you post, but sad thing is, if you post from now till next year. This same nigerian youths will never learn. Same people will still use all their precious time to watch the show; all their precious time to argue and post about it online; all their poor money to vote.

If Nigerias learn, we won't be in the same shiiit we're today. I already learnt that Nigerians don't change. That is why i don't waste my time again preaching on NL about bbn or soapy dance or every other thing. People will read your post, like it and still proceed immediately to that very bad thing you corrected them about.
Wise people like you will keep shouting but Nigerians can never change. That's just the sad truth.

As it has always been, so shall it continue to be. Nigerians will keep doing the wrong things, voting the wrong people, watching the wrong shows, hyping the wrong musics, hyping the wrong dances. Nigerians can't change.
Watching big brother Nigeria, big brother Africa or big brother Canada are just like watching any other reality show like Keeping up with the kardashians, survival Africa or American idol.
