A student in the department of banking and finance from the Continual Education Center has won the debate competition organised by FPA press club in conjunction with inside Fedpolad media on Wednesday.

The programme was sponsored by Prophet Dr Emmanuel Arole, the general overseer of Christ chosen ministry in Ado Ekiti, also by the CEO; Voice Air Media Nigeria and OBAKAY MOBILE AND TV SERVICES.

Intelligentsia 2019 was a program hosted by the press club together with inside Fedpoload media.

The program started around 4:55 pm and in attendance was the Dean of student affairs, Sub Dean of student affairs, the SUG president among other executives, the Assogov representative, the Ascoss president, the school cadet, Miss Ekiti, Miss Tourism and the Nigeria students.

After a brief word from the sub dean of student affairs, there was a lecture from the Founder of "kids n teens"

There were 8 contestant for the debate, TOPIC: "NOT TOO YOUNG TO RULE". At the end of the debate competition where seven contestants support the motion and one contestant oppose the motion.
In which at the end, Miss A kin add Omowumi Faith came first with 13points , San Mohammed and Jegede omolara came out with 11.5 point each placing them in the second position.

After giving them another two minute to justify there points SAN Mohammed with 13.5 point emerged the second position and Jegede Omolara third position.
A phone was presented to Second position by the Students union representative on behalf of the SUG president has sponsored by OBAKAY DATA SERVICES and the first position was presented with the token of five(5) thousand Naira by Miss Tourism as sponsored by Prophet Dr Emmanuel Arole and Voice Air Media Nigeria, Mr Olorungbotemi Tunde bright.

The debate ended at 7: 20 pm.

Nigeria dominate Women’s Wrestling in African Nigeria’s Odunayo Adekuoroye has been named the best female wrestler at the 2019 African Senior Wrestling Championships in Hammamet, Tunisia received by VAM News following her impressive showing on her way to successfully defending the gold medal she won a year ago in Port Harcourt.

The 2017 world silver-medalist and back-to-back Commonwealth champion made light work of her Cameroonian opponent Esoombe Tiako, winning their 57kg final in just 29 sec via pinfall to record her 5th African title.

VAM News reports that On her way to final, Adekuoroye overpowered Jeannette Sambou (Senegal) 4-0 via pinfall before taking out Chaimaa Aouissi (Algeria) 12-0 via technical superiority to move into the semi finals.

In the last four, she also recorded another superiority win, outclassing home favourite Dorssaf Gharssi 10-0. The 25-year-old’s award crowned a great day for Team Nigeria who emerged overall winners of Women’s Wrestling at the Championships with 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Team Nigeria once again reigned supreme in Women Wrestling at the 2019 African Senior Wrestling Championships in Hammamet, Tunisia, claiming 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in 10 categories. Blessing Oborududu (68kg) recorded her 9th consecutive African title after overcoming Anta Sabou of Senegal 10-0 (via superiority).

Such was the dominance of the Bayelsa State-born athlete that she did not concede a single point in three bouts on her way to another gold medal. Overall, Team Nigeria won Women’s Wrestling at the Championships with 195 points ahead of 2nd placed Tunisia with 177 points, while Egypt finished 3rd with 160points.

A survivor of depression and suicide contemplation, Emmanuel Oluwasayomi Ahmadu, popularly known as Mr Voiceover, who is an international award winning graduating student of University of Benin, has charged those passing through difficult situation to remain calm and forget suicide thoughts, stressing that suicide can never be a solution to current predicament.

According to him, “It may be a family member, friend, therapist, member of the clergy, teacher, family doctor, coach, or an experienced counselor at the end of a helpline. Find someone you trust and let them know how bad things are. Don’t let fear, shame, or embarrassment prevent you from seeking help. And if the first person you reach out to doesn’t seem to understand, try someone else. Just talking about how you got to this point in your life can release a lot of the pressure that’s building up and help you find a way to cope.”

He further revealed his plans and that of his Non-Governmental Organization, Mr Voiceover Mentorship Initiative to organize Community Mental Health Awareness And Sensitization Programme in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria in order to share his inspiring stories and motivate depressed youth, while urging government, well-meaning Nigerians and organizations to support his vision on reducing the rate of suicide in Nigeria, by 50 percent.

It was a bitter Friday for Abiodun Joshua a ND II part time student in the department of computer science as he was stabbed in the chest by Yetunde Akintade Bolajoko, a fellow student in the department of business administration and management in the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti on Friday.

According to one of the victim course mate who spoke to inside Fedpolad, an online based media explained that Troubled started when a little misunderstanding ensued between them(joshua and yetunde) , Joshua was said to have insulted yetunde parents in an argument, Yetunde out of anger went inside her room brought out a knife and stabbed Joshua in the chest.

Inside Fedpolad couldn't ascertain what led to the misunderstanding to the extent he (joshua) was stabbed.

When Inside Fedpolad visited the hospital in which the victim is being treated, Joshua was in a very deep pain as he could barely move his body as at the time of our Admin(Akin) visitation to confirm the authenticity of the report. Inside Fedpolad learnt the case is an "attempt to murder".

Yetunde (the alleged) had since fled town after she learnt the trouble she had brought upon herself. The alleged student parents was reported to be aware of their child misdeeds but are afraid to show up for the fear of being arrested according to the information gathered.

Inside Fedpolad learnt the sum of three hundred thousand naira #300,000.00 has since been spent on Joshua health conditions.

The class governor of computer science NDII confirmed the incidenct in a phone conversation with Inside Fedpolad as he claimed he had paid Joshua a visitation In the hospital where he is receiving treatment at the Ekiti state teaching hospital in Adebayo and thanking God for his life as he's responding to treatment.

Inside Fedpolad learnt the school management have been briefed concerning the incident.

Inside Fedpolad, an online base media attention has been drawn to a false misleading information trending on social media concerning one olanrewaju Olabode having lost his NYSC certificate. The information is fake.

The information reads "If anybody knows Akinbode Olarenwaju Olatibamidele from lagos state LGA abule egba . He graduated from federal polytechnic Ado ekiti. He served in kastina State, 2017/2018 Corp member, if any one knows him should pls ask him to call on 08032887904"

" His NYSC Certificate was lost but found. Pls share this message until it reach the owner. Thanks"

According to the student, Akinbode explained that the information is fake as he is still a current student in the institution and that was as at last year. Akinbode posted the news on Voice Air Media Nigeria informing the public to shun the information.

Inside Fedpolad media had initially posted it on its page that the information is false but still surprised the false information is still going on viral.

In a bid to share facts and not rumour, we made a call through to the said founder who identified herself as kikelomo, she explained that the issue has been resolved.

We finally reach a conclusion that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, A producer of men.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, the Senatorial Candidate of PDP as the winner of Ondo South Senatorial Election.

Tofowomo was declared winner of the election after scoring 81, 892 votes to defeat his closest rival, the incumbent Senator, Yele Omogunwa of the ruling APC who polled 55, 610 votes.

The result was announced by INEC Returning Officer, professor Kayode Onifade in charge of Ondo South Senatorial Election in Ondo State after the Senatorial supplementary election held on Saturday was concluded.

VoiceAirMedia Recall that two weeks ago, INEC declared the Ondo South Senatorial election inconclusive on the excuse that the margin of win by the candidate of the PDP was less down 28, 300 of the total number of registered voters in the affected units where elections did not hold or were cancelled.
Tofowomo had initially polled 79, 036 to defeat incumbent Senator Omogunwa who scored 51, 993, with vote margins of 27, 036 when the election was declared inconclusive.

Meanwhile, the senator-elect has thanked the good people of Ondo South for his election, describing his victory as an act of God enveloped by Favour.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has dragged the Federal and state governments to the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja over alleged attacks on journalists and bloggers.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, the SERAP Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, said the group is suing the government for what it described as “the frequent and repressive application of the Cybercrime Act to harass, intimidate, arbitrarily arrest, detain, and unfairly prosecute anyone found publishing views or facts perceived to be critical of the government at the federal and state levels and government officials.”

In the suit number ECW/CCJ/APP/09/19 filed by its Solicitor Femi Falana last week at the ECOWAS Court, SERAP argued that: “The Federal Government and several state governments and their agents have trampled on the rights to freedom of expression and information of bloggers, journalists, activists, and social media users through the repressive use and implementation of the vaguely worded provisions of the Cybercrime Act.”

SERAP stressed that the idea of democracy is that the people are encouraged to express their criticisms of elected government officials, with the expectation that it will improve the process of government.

In cases of alleged defamation of government officials, the group believes sanctions should “not be so large as to exert a chilling effect on freedom of opinion, expression and media freedom; penal sanctions, in particular imprisonment, should never be applied”.

1. A declaration that the provisions of the Cybercrime (Prohibition Prevention, etc) Act 2015 are entirely inconsistent and incompatible with international human rights standards and infringe on the rights to the freedom of expression, information and opinion guaranteed under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

3. A declaration that the continuing use and application by the Defendant and its agents and several states in Nigeria of the Cybercrime is illegal and unlawful, as it amounts to breaches of obligations to respect, protect, promote and fulfil the rights to freedom of expression and information and media freedom.

4. An order directing the Defendant to immediately repeal and/or amend the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act 2015 in line with Nigerian obligations under international human rights law.

5. An order directing the Defendant and/or its agents and several states of Nigeria to provide effective remedies and reparation, including adequate compensation, restitution, satisfaction or guarantees of non-repetition that the Honourable Court may deem fit to grant to human rights defenders, activists bloggers, journalists and other online and off-line media practitioners that have been harassed, intimidated, unlawfully arrested, detained, and unfairly prosecuted by the Defendant.

6. Such Further orders the Honorable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstances of this suit.

The National Association of Kwara state students, National Headquarters, the umbrella embodied with the welfarism of about 1.6 million Kwara state students studying home and abroad has noticed over time the nonchalant attitude of Kwara state government, led by Alh. Abdulfatah Ahmed on students welfarism.

Recall that the Governor pronounced before all media houses and the public in general that he will immediately release 50 Million naira out of the approved 100 Million naira for 2018 bursary award. The money that is being release in bit of 25M, 5M, etc showing that students education is not a priority of this government.

Because of the outcome of the recent general elections conducted, the Kwara state government has lost interest on the welfarism of students thereby stopping the ongoing bursary disbursement as the scholarship board refused to continue payment in college of education Ilorin claiming insufficient available fund, an indication to the leadership that the government has withdrawn the earlier released money.

On this note, we give the government latest 1 PM today, Thur 28th Feb, 2019 to make available fund to the scholarship board for the continuation of bursary payment in college of education Ilorin or be ready to accommodate thousand students in government house, locking all ministries and blocking all major roads. Thirty-four-year-old House of Representatives candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo State, Tajudeen Adefisoye, known as ‘Small Alhaji’ may have emerged as the youngest member of the House of Representatives in the ninth assembly.

Many Ad- hoc staff, including National Youth Service Corps members engaged for Saturday’s botched election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were stranded across Ogun State, lamenting that they were abandoned since Friday after the election was postponed by INEC.

One of the corps member, who identified himself as Azeez, said: “I was surprised when they said we should be here a day before the election. They brought us here from Sango Ota on Friday to INEC office in Ipokia local government around 5pm.”

He said: “There was no water, no welfarism, low security; no Bed even a mats for us to sleep. We had to struggle to sleeps in a car, on the floor outside the INEC office, and we have been stranded here because we learned the election has been postponed around 3am on Saturday.

“Another Corp members, identified as Bright laments on the poor leadership of INEC in the local government, says, there is no INEC official to talk to us about the development, no security and going out of this place is risky, we had to sleep outside in cold on the ground, we are no longer interested in this next level.”

State coordinator urges calm
Also reacting, In a statement by her Ipokia Local government LGI, Mrs Eze , the state coordinator said: “My beloved corps members, I salute your commitment to the national service of ensuring credible elections in Ogun State. I appreciate the hardships and sacrifices you all made. Please dont be offended.
We just finished a meeting at lNEC Headquarters and all hands are on deck to ensure that those who have not received their training allowances will be paid.
Other difficulties experienced are being addressed. Generally things will certainly be better next weekend. Please keep on the patriotic spirit. You know your welfare is paramount. We will do everything possible to ensure your welfare. Dont hesitate to call me if the need arises.

S’West PDP tackles INEC
Meanwhile, the South West Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned the last-minute postponement of the election, saying it confirms the unpreparedness of the INEC for the election.
In a statement by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, said: “We take due cognizance of the last minute postponement of the presidential and national assembly elections by INEC based on a flimsy excuse of logistics crisis, particularly in view of the numerous declarations of its preparedness to prosecute the elections on the dates previously fixed by it.
“This development, however, puts a lie to INEC’s numerous grandstanding and pointedly confirms its unpreparedness to conduct a nationwide election, an intention consistent with the desires of the APC, which if executed would have immediately created a political crisis in our nation.
“This sloppiness must stop and INEC must be prepared to discharge its allocated responsibilities firmly on the new dates fixed for the elections.

Afenifere chieftain flays INEC chairman
Also chiding the INEC chairman, an Afenifere chieftain, Senator Femi Okunrounmu has accused the INEC Chairman, Prof. Yakubu of working for the ruling APC to foist President Muhammadu Buhari on Nigerians.

Vanguard in Abeokuta on the postponement of the elections.
Okunrounmu alleged: “The APC leaders are the ones that forced him into the situation, where we have to have the election cancelled few hours before going to polls.
“We should blame INEC squarely because if INEC had been straight forward, and an organization with integrity, all these will never have happened.
“All the factors that led to the postponement would never have happened.
