Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has called on the Nigeria Immigration Service to make the Nigeria Passport compulsory for all Nigerians, so as to effectively monitor the flow of migrants into the country.

Governor Akeredolu said those migrating into the country, especially through the land borders must be ascertained with the proper use of the national passport.


The Governor Spoke on Tuesday while playing host to the leadership of the state command of the Nigeria Immigration Service in his office.


The NIS team was led by its state comptroller, Mrs Eunice Ladi Aboyade - Yebovi.

The Commissioner briefed Journalists on various developmental strides of the Akeredolu led administration in the state from infrastructural development, being witnessed across the 18 LGAs, to health, social services, agro business, industrialisation among others, VAM report.
Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Donald Ojogo at a media chat with members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, held at the Press Centre, Adegbemile, Akure.

Mr. Ojogo said the media briefing would be regular, saying the people of the state needs to be updated on government programmes and policies.

On the N50Billion Bond:

The state spokesman said the bond is for capital projects.

Answering questions from newsmen at the interactive session held on Saturday the Information Commissioner noted that the #50billion bond had become imperative to enable government to pay contractors handling its various capital projects especially roads contractors.


He pointed out that the money from the capital market would not come to the purse of the state government but it would be spent directly on government’s projects.


Ojogo explained that Akeredolu would rather spend such huge bond on legacy projects that would impact positively on the lives of the citizenry instead of using same for any re-election bid.


“The governor didn’t take loan or bond to win his election in 2016, the people freely gave him their mandate, so he can’t take loan to do any reelection.


The Commissioner also took his time to clarify some other state issues such as the delay in conducting local government election and efforts being made by Akeredolu to bring aggrieved chieftains of the APC to his fold.


The State Spokesman promised that the state government would soon come up with actions on local government election and creation of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).


In a remark, the Ondo state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Adetona Aderoboye commended the information Commissioner for reviving the media interaction after about three years, urging him to sustain it on monthly and quarterly basis to help the state government in its information management.


Aderoboye who commended Governor Akeredolu for recently appointing two members of the Union as his key Aides, said journalists in the state were happy with the redeployment of Ojogo to the information ministry as a core professional.

Two Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students on Wednesday in Abuja engaged each other in a brawl over plans by the South African High Commission to sponsor some of them to the country.


President of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Bello Shagari, who led the group, was in company with the President of Students Union Government of the University of Abuja.


Acting South African High Commissioner, Bobby Moroe, after a meeting with the students’ leaders said his country was planning to engage Nigerian youth on a cultural exchange visit.


He said the motive behind the visit was to further tighten the existing relationship between Nigeria and South Africa.


Moroe noted that the trip would enable the NANS members to meet with their South African counterparts as part of measures to resolve attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.


However, later the legit President of NANS, Danielson Akpan, and other executive members stormed the South African High Commission and claimed to be the authentic representatives of students in Nigeria.

According to the governorship hopeful, the exercise of a collective will over the aspirations of many resulted in his emergence as the flagbearer of the Young Democratic Party for the Kogi State November 16, 2019 gubernatorial election.


Engr. Zakari reiterated once again that Kogi State is in dire need of good leadership and good governance and it has become imperative for the good people of Kogi State to collectively work together to achieve one main goal of taking Kogi State back from the current state for an improved situation.


The YDP Candidate also referenced that, due to the daunting challenge of leadership failure and tragic consequences of underdevelopment in Kogi State, his aspiration to become the next executive governor is to initiate a robust leadership, a sustainable policy thrust and institutional principles that will guarantee a total re-engineering of a purpose-driven governance and sustainable development in Kogi State.


He commended the delegates, state executives, stakeholders and the National Working Committee of his party, the Young Democratic Party for the hard work to keep the party afloat and remaining steadfast to ensure that the party is not hijacked by unscrupulous individuals who are only out for their personal gains.

THE National Association of Polytechnic Students NAPS has kicked against the #RevolutionNow movement spearheaded by the detained Sahara Reporters Publisher and activist-politician, Omoyele Sowore, saying it would never support any unconstitutional change of government.

“NAPS uses this medium to distance itself from the said revolution as being championed by Omoyele Sowore and his allies.


We believe in the pragmatic enthusiasm of seeking positive governance through peaceful protest but do not believe in the moral pedigree of Omoyele Sowore to lead such movement.


Furthermore, NAPS as a body subscribes to the usage of tenets of democracy in changing a democratically elected government not through usage of civil unrest”, the association said yesterday in a communique issued at the end of its 44th Senate Meeting and Pre-Convention held between August 2nd and 4th at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State. The communiqué was signed by Collins Ozele and Abdulmalik Usman, Chairman and Secretary of the Communiqué Drafting Committee respectively.


On insecurity, NAPS called on the federal government to be more vigorous in “checkmating decadence and criminal activities of bandits across the states that have tremendously put our lives at risk”.


The association also urged government to be diplomatic in handling issues on the Shi’ites Movement and implored the Federal Government “to respect court orders not peculiar only to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria IMN leaders but also the former National Security NSA and others in their category”.


While it frowned at the Federal Government’s “epileptic approach to the full implementation of the Degree Awarding status of the already selected Polytechnics while swiftly implementing same Status for College of Agriculture Zuru Kebbi State without putting into consideration alongside the earlier selected Polytechnics whose bills have spent almost a decade at the National Assembly”.

You may recall that Nigerian students as directed by the NANS leadership has been on the street in major cities of Nigeria in the last two weeks enforcing the picketing of South African businesses to draw global attention to the mindless killings of Nigerians and looting of their properties in South Africa.


Interestingly, the picketing exercise was peacefully carried out in the hope that the government of South Africa and her citizens would once and for all end all forms of attacks on citizens of other African nations.


Behold, the killings have continued and has even assumed a more dangerous dimension. This worsening development calls for a swift reaction.
Importantly, we want to call on Nigerians in South Africa to reconsider their stay in South Africa and return home.


Having gone through the first phase without any remorse or practical action to end xenophobic attacks in South Africa, we wish to announce that Nigerian students have decided to take on South Africans same way they are doing to our people.


We have seen the helplessness of the South African government in reining in their citizens and wish to condemn in unambiguous terms the continued pampering of those involved. Every nation has her own internal crisis hence no citizen of other nation should be sacrificed for criminal activities of South Africans or any other.


Since the economic prosperity of Nigerians can no longer be tolerated and their lives secured in South Africa, there's no need also to condone the continued flourishing of South African businesses and her citizens in Nigeria.


We therefore wish to officially ask all South African owned businesses in Nigeria to relocate in the next 7 days. We specifically want MULTICHOICE, MTN, STANBIC IBTC BANK, SHOPRITE and others to close their businesses in their own interest within 7 days commencing from today.

But to 27-year-old Lillian Mgbanwa, her dream to become a chartered accountant was cut short on Sunday by one Chukwuemeka Eze, who allegedly raped her and murdered her.

An Accountancy graduate of Nasarawa Polytechnic, late Lillian Mgbanwa was doing the mandatory National Youth Service at the St Gregory Missionary Secondary School, Amiri, Oru-East LGA, Imo State, when she met her untimely death in the hands of men suspected to be ritualists, operating from Mgbidi, Imo State.

Parading the only suspect so far arrested for the crime, Chukwuemeka Eze, at the Imo State Police Command, Owerri, the Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said that Eze’s arrest was part of the success of Operation Puff Adder recently launched nationwide by the Inspector General of Police.

According to him, “here is Chukwuemeka Eze, who murdered a ex- youth corps member, Lillian Mgbanwa, after raping her.”

Mba said: “on July 2, 2019, Eze, who pretended to be insane, deaf and dumb, took an android phone belonging to his prey to the shop of one Ahamefule Onyeka for charging.

Onyeka , who suspected Eze as he could not defend the calls coming into the phone, reported the development to the police in Oru West.

This suspect was arrested and he confessed that he took away the ex-corps member’s phone after raping her to death.”

However, our investigation reveals that late Mgbanwa was still serving her nation when she met her death.

A source close to Lillian’s youth corps colleagues said that she went to join her colleagues in Mgbidi on Saturday for their skill acquisition training in tailoring.

After the day’s training, she decided to sleep over as it was too late to return to her house.

It was alleged that on her way home, Eze, and his gang forcibly dragged her to their hideout where she was raped and murdered.

The source said they suspected that Lillian was killed for rituals as her killers harvested some vital organs from her body and completely severed her head from the body.
