Hi, am interestd in going to Benue to buy yams for selling. How can u help in purchasing n selling in bulk? I'm looking to start with 20k hope it will be enough?
Emaachiile has said it all. You can't be directly involved with 20k. It's such a meagre sum. There are other ways you can be involved.

Business / Invest In Yam Marketing And Get Good Monthly Returns by hoyze24: 1:14pm On Sep 07, 2017
Investment as we all know is ths soul of money making. It's been stated on this platform countless times how lucrative agricultural produce marketing is. I couldn't agree less but it's however important to note that it's not a get rich quick business but it can surely pay some bills. Of all produce I've been involved in, yam is sure the most lucrative. The marketing process isn't so tedious, it's consumed by almost every category of people and it doesn't need to be stored for long periods before making good money on it. In one of my previous posts, I gave an overview of how anyone can be involved in the business, today I'll be dwelling on indirect marketing which is a form of investment. The season of massive harvest is just few weeks away. We want more people to be involved, hence we are calling for investment from the following categories of people:
People who do not have enough knowledge about the whole marketing process but wants to be involved.
Those with little or no time to travel and buy themselves.
Those disturbed about how to face the hassles involved in the marketplace.
Those with inadequate storage facilities.
People who have capital but not enough to go into the business proper.
Those willing to add more money to their accounts.
I've been in the business for quite sometime, so I think it's necessary to make it bigger and have more people involved. For this season, we will be dealing in yams from Benue state. Why Benue?
We have the best and biggest yam varieties like ugoja, pepa, fakinsa, hembakwese etc. These varieties are acceptable in all markets.
Cheapest yams are found in Benue. This is partly due to the large number of people involved in its cultivation. It's pride to own the largest tuber in Logo and Ukum.
It's no more news we are the largest yam producer in Nigeria and we also have the largest yam market in Zaki Biam, Ukum local government.
Are there difficulties associated with marketing Benue yams? Yes
Roads here are not so good, this reflects on the cost of transportation.
Some varieties of yams get spoilt easily, hence it's not advsable to store them for long periods.
Yams cut if not properly handled.
Is the ROI feasible? Yes! Continuous sales gives more profit than storage (which is prone to uncertainties).
What is required to be part of this?
We've had lots of scams on this platform, so anyone willing to invest will be mandated to sign a contract agreement.
I've had few people contact me as regards my previous posts on marketing. Please you're free to make your enquiries but ensure it's in line with the post. We can also help people willing to go into direct marketing. Do make your requests known as regard this. hoyze24 thanks for your advice, i will like you to educate on the appropriate time to apply chemicals and name of chemicals to use. just going into beans farming for the first time
thanks once again
You start chemical application from the flowering stage until pod formation. Make application routine. There are many chemicals available but best action seems to be the best I know of. it's expensive though.

Agriculture / Re: Advice On Tomatoes Business by hoyze24: 9:08am On Sep 05, 2017
Storage and processing are huge problems that have kept lots of farmers impoverished. You need to see how tomatoes waste here in katsina ala and kwande despite farmers begging people to buy, Same applies to yam during harvest. I hope we help ourselves soon enough.

Marketing directly is a cool option but it's uneasy for people currently on a job to be involved or one with no experience. I hope y'all are preparing for the yam season. I hope another big marketer emerges this season. It can only get better.

Agriculture / Re: Why Do We Rarely Talk About These Crops? by hoyze24: 9:59am On Sep 04, 2017
Production and marketing of crops like rice isn't as easy compared to yams due to high importation and inadequate standard local mills. Meanwhile, if you're preparing for the Benue yam marketing season. It's time we start talking.

I have plans to build a company that will be the largest marketer of agricultural produce in Africa and I'm working towards it. It's the new harvest season that's however top of the plan. We need to get more yams to the markets.

Do you supply on credit to your customers (market traders) in south-south and south-east on credit? Or is it strictly cash before supply ? If you do supply your customers on credit, how many days credit do you grant them to pay up their invoice? Also, do your customers honour their credit payment as at due date?
Expecting your response.
No! I sell in open markets in the south. They have a system such that you don't even get to know who bought the yams, all one gets is the money. I did sell to some individuals as well but payment was cash on delivery.
