Ruud still has 2 years on his contract so he wont be as cheap as offering him free with a whooping £14m on a certain Torres.
Only Jose can do crazy stunts like that. He bought SWP for £21m and the young lad only manageed 10 premiership appearances in 38 games without scoring a goal.
SWP would have made it to Germany if he was still playing for Man City.

Rooney will command a 1st team shirt in any team does not mean he will bench Sheva or Henry or Etoo.
For instance, Reyes,Adebayor and Van Perise have paired with  Thierry Henry @ Arsenal. These players r not even as good as Wayne.
If Rooney joins Arsenal, He will pair with Henry and hence he has commanded a 1st team shirt. Got ma arguments?
If he joins Barcelona, Rijkaard will sell Guily or Maxi Lopez or even Larsson and play Rooney, Dinho and Etoo.
Ancellotti will bin Gillardino and even Vieri and use Rooney + Sheva combination.
Tell me any team in the world Rooney will not command a starting 11.

Rooney will bench Samuel Etoo.
Any good striker should bench Etoo @ Barcelona because the team is so good and will  always work for whatever out and out striker on display.
I believe Drogba or even Adebayor in Etoo's position at Barcelona will also score more than 25 goals in a season.
Ronaldinho,Deco and Messi makes it easy for Etoo to pop goals.

Talking about Arsenal. Can Rooney bench Henry? The answer is not a yes/no answer.
The Manager will have to change the formation of the team to accomodate the 2 talents.
A player like Henry will benefit so much from Rooney's strength and work rate and Rooney will also benefit from Henry's pace and sublime skills.


Remember Rooney is also an utility player that can drift left,right and centre. He also plays behind top strikers.
Rooney is world class and thatz why he is so special to his club and country.
Nobody will miss Lampard, Terry and Joe Cole the way the country will miss Rooney if he fails to make it to Germany.
Even Henry does not have the kind of Rooney's influence in the French Team.
France can still afford to do without Thierry and play Cisse, Saha and Trezeguet.

* This is the 1st time in 10 seasons that Wenger will make it beyond the Q-final stages of the Uefa Champions League.
  Rafa Benitez,Jose Mourinho and even Claudio Ranieri joined the Premiership after Wenger did and they all achieved this feat BEFORE Wenger.

*Wenger has never retained the Premiership title since he joined Arsenal in 1996 in spite of his famous 49 unbeaten run.
  Jose Mourinho achieved this in just 2 years of joining Chelsea without any unbeaten run.

*Wenger is yet to win the UCL since his 10 years @ Highbury.
 Rafa Benitez won it in his 1st season at Liverpool FC.

*Wenger has never won the treble in his career as a Manager.
 Jose Mourinho and Alex Ferguson have done so with style and grace.

I dunno when some Arsenal fans on Nairaland will stop being hypocrites.

Arsenal coming 4th on the table and losing a whooping 11 matches this season is a failure by Arsenal's own standards.
In this vein,Wenger wasn't outstanding as far as this season is concerned.
Wenger's team was second last season and came 4th this season. Was that an improvement?

I tipped Martin Jol above Wenger cos he fought to the very last day before he surrendered the 4th position to Arsenal.
The managers of the promoted teams were also immense especially Paul Jewell who took Wigan to the top ten. We all know how difficult it is to survive in the Premiership.

The ace Manager this season has to be Harry "Houdini" Redknapp.
How he managed to steer Portsmouth out of relegation has defied all known logics.
Portsmouth was as good as dead when Redknapp joined em as at Dec 2005 and he revived the team spirit by avoiding relegation with a match to spare. Thatz what i call brilliance.

Jose Mourinho wasn't too outstanding as far as i am concerned. He won the league no doubt but his performance last season was far better than this season. He lost just a match last season but he lost 5 matches this season. Its a bit disappointing.

Ferguson came 3rd last season and second this season so he is just ok but not outstanding.

Rafa Benitez deserves the best manager award cos he has turned Liverpool back to the force they were known to be.
Liverpool is now a team everyone fears silently. No team can just boast about beating Liverpool lately cos on their day,they can demolish any premiership team.

We all have to look at these factors and entities b4 saying Wenger this-Ferguson that.

Chelsea met United 4 times.
2 in the Premier League and the other 2 were Carling Cup S/Final 1st and 2nd legs
The 1st leg at Stamford Bridge ended a barren draw.
Lampard and Duff scored in the 2nd leg at OT.
So Gudjohnsen scored just 2 goals last season.

Gudjohnsen didn't score 3 against Man Utd last season. He only scored 2 goals against Utd.
That makes Hasselbaink the only striker to have done so.
