And you felt it right to quote me? Na wa for naija but did I lie about biochemistry and Anatomy? Let us be sincere here. It is harsh for me to tell him to choose biochemistry, physiology or Anatomy? I wouldn't comment more than this. Just to dig in and find comment come off it
You told him to be careful that he is just a premed student and that he should not come back here to complain if he get shipped to anatomy or biochemistry just because he dropped his own opinion on the issue and you wanted to back up your claim or show how right you were. Edit off that post, stop being insensitive and over-protective of your words even when you yourself know it's harsh, wrong or just plainly stupid. I won't comment more than this too. When you joined this forum, you didn't join as a tutor or adviser; you joined as a mere aspirant. A confused one sef. Edit off the post. And you asked if it felt right to quote you? Like wtfhuh Don't let us derail this thread. I have said my piece. Won't reply again. Back to my MBBS chase.......

U said that you are in 100 level abi? Come on don't spill rubbish you are a pre-med student not a medical student yet. Don't complain they switched your course to biochemistry or Anatomy. Even Ebsu medicine is safer than UYO. I prefer to go to a school with 75 quota and above than going for one with 50. We must be watchful. Although I pray you will scale through
I know the post is not recent but whenever I make some searches on nairaland about MBBS and stuffs and come across this post, damn, I always feel somehow towards zeeknow3245. I think you should edit off this post....it's such a bad thing for someone with no admission yet into any school and who can only dream of gaining admission to study MBBS even in the least competitive schools in this country to say to an MBBS student. And then you added that he should pray they don't switch him to anatomy or biochemistry. That's harsh. Considering the fact that he said nothing bad. He only said what he has confirmed by being a student of the school.

.. people dey this life sha.

Yes, that's true. It is mostly used during Auction.
Yes. But this one I am talking about, as the auctioneer said "gone" like this, he mistakenly hit the vase to be sold with his hammer or whatever they use to hit the table when an item is sold. He didn't know the person holding it was directly behind him.....Vase broke into pieces..lol.

Lest I forget, I have to say that finding this thread today really made me happy. The way you write and include so many informations in your posts is mind-blowing and your attentiveness to questions is laudable. May God keep lifting you higher and continues to make things easier for you over there. And may the dream of someone like me to come to UK with my medical degree in years to come come to pass. Much love from this side sir.

yeah, as much as Pablo Escobar and cocaine is probably the 1st thing that comes to mind if someone says COLOMBIA, there is so much more to the country (Coffee, beautiful country, fantastic women, perfect weather, amazing food and diversity etc).

what brought me here is my desire to discover Colombia. the important question IS: why not Colombia/Medellin? i have lived in South America before (Brazil/Argentina) and love the way of life down here... the weather is perfect for me (spring all year long) and if i want the beach/Caribbean super hot weather, i can just drive to the coast.
You are the real "lifer"......Really, dictating how you want to live to life is the best thing and not let life dictate how you live to you.

bro, as much as many people look up to these people, this is not my cup of tea. furthermore, gringos who are into this type of things are not well viewed here because (to the locals) Pablo Escobar was a demon who murdered millions of innocent people. what he did for the poor is much less than the atrocities he committed.

but the hard reality is that, thanks to the Narcos serie and the wonderful city, Medellin has turned into a touristic hotspot. i once met a Korean dude here who told me the only reason he came to Colombia is because he fell in love with the narcos serie, and wanted to discover Medellin.

actually i once pass by the ruins of one of his old house in Guatape, who is next to a lake.... and even though the place has been burned down and bombed by police, you could still see the extravagant lifestyle of the dude. there was tunnel everywhere leading from the main house to a nightclub on the property and escape routes everywhere.

Pablo Escobar last known residence in Medellin was demolished a year ago (the building was a 10 floor building complex just for his family and security). the city believe it was a bad reminder of the evil that he was, and had to get rid of it. check below:

Lol. Gringo. You are really in Colombia. As for me, I just love anything that has to do with history. Really. Watching Narcos just made me fall in love with the history. Personally, I detest the man too, he was really a monster. But no vex oo, why Colombia? Was it for studies or what? What sector are you working in?

That score should definitely get you medicine in Ebonyi State University. Wishing you all best in medical school. I hope to read your success story while you are practicing abroad years from now. I actually like planning ahead just like you and that helped me a lot in life because I already know what to expect before getting there. But I made that mistake of not asking what life was like after university. I was discouraged the few times I tried to ask. That set me back from guys who started planning before they left school. Don't be discouraged by people who tell you that you will cross the bridge when you get there.
Thanks a lot sir.

Getting residency isn't as hard as you think. Nigerian trained doctors have been doing it for years, so your case shouldn't be different.

I like that you're planning out your future early. A little bit of advice: When you get into med school, try to get your hands on as many scholarships as you can. You can get as many as four awards if you know what you're doing...and that's a lot of money. I'm just telling you this so you can have an easy time in med school while saving up for the PLAB/UKMLA/USMLE exams. I know some people that paid for their exams this way.
I really appreciate this advice sir. That's exactly what I have planned sir. Get Scholarships and save money. Save money from housejob and nysc too. But most importantly, get in and pass out medical school first..lol. That one na the real wahala. I think with 305 in Jamb and application to Ebonyi State University, that I am one step in already. Just have to wait.

Once again, thank you sir.

Can you kindly quote me?, I haven't had the time to figure out the way mailing works on Nairaland.

Thanks.
Click on the person's moniker. I mean the person you want to mail and click on the part I circled in the pic. It's that simple. You can't see that person's email address. Nairaland will just notify the person that "so so so would like to send mail to you" and then the person will reply you and conversation starts from there. I hope this helps.

Getting residency anywhere in the world is not easy including in Nigeria. But people still get residency even in the UK. Apart from residency, there are other career paths like academics or research which are open to doctors as well.

No vex, like I said, I am usually overly curious. I am just getting ready to enter med school but I am just used to thinking ahead for my goals in life. I asked this to satisfy my curiosity as I always known about UK and plab long before I even decided to write exam for med school. This is just for me to set myself on a path and know what is waiting on ground for me.

I should not even be here. Lol. I don't have the qualifications yet but I am a highly ambitious guy with plans in place and I have been thinking about UK PLAB route after reading this whole thread from 1 - 62 and several Google searches and I would really like to go there when I finish medical school. But my problem is this:
Based on what bosses here have said and even people quora too, as a Nigerian Doctor going to UK, getting a residency placement is hardddd. Very harrdd and I have come to understand that many won't get it and it will probably be best to have Plan B. I understand with GMC license, I can work and earn decently even as a locum as you guys have said but can one do this for life? What are the positions open to one or options if one doesn't get into residency. Non training Doctors in UK, apart from making money, what have you guys been doing or plan on doing for career furthering? Also, is residency a must to make it in medicine abroad? I want residency but I want to have solid Plan B in case I don't get in as this doesn't depend on me but on UK itself. I would have gone for USMLE but I can't make money without getting matched into residency and I will be sponsoring myself. Just chip in what you think. Sorry this is long. I am still learning to squeeze few points into smaller space.

Baba, as you can see, I am not arguing or eager to disprove whatever it is you know. I am just saying what I have noticed. And mind you, it's not about when you got out, in fact, I have more say in this matter because I was in school in that 2013. In fact, I was in jss3 and I can tell you there was nothing like that. I remember junior schools were changed to middle school and our seniors in my own public school were moved to another school entirely blah blah blah. In fact, for that reason, instead of prefects being elected among the SSS3 students, it was selected among jss3 since our seniors had been moved. So I know what I am saying. I have been asking all the people I know that got out of Public school recently if they noticed 453 in their school including the primary students and they all have been saying no. But as I have said, I might be missing something.

Amotolongbo:
Bro, i think I’ve got where you got it wrong.

Seems like you don’t really have public school students around you or you didn’t bother asking about their school system.

The private schools still practise the 6-3-3-4 system of Nigerian education while the 4-5-3-4 was only introduced to the public schools by Aregbesola.

Hope that answers your question right sir?
I swear I don't like to argue but I still think you are wrong. Let me ask, do you stay in Osun? Are you familiar with the public school system and can you say they really follow 4534? Cos let me tell you this

I went to a public primary school from 2005-2011 (6 years). Aregbe entered in 2010

For junior sec school, I went to IB for a year and did js1 there but came back to Osun State (Iwo to be precise) after a year and resumed at jss2. This is a Public school oo. It's was then we were given Aregbe clothes and school names were changed. I finished junior sec school at jss3 (so I spent 3 years) and did my junior waec. After that, I moved to a private school and did 3 years before waec in 2017 but I still had friends in public school that were my mates and did waec at the same time with me. And also, contrary to what you said, I am well familiar with publich school system here. I have friends that graduated after me and also junior siblings and they went to public schools all their lives. In fact, I still got a cousin living with us in SSS3. I am not trying to argue, just stating what I have observed which completely opposite of what people are saying here.
EducationRe: Osun Reverts To 6-3-3-4 Education System by HumanCalc: 1:27pm On Aug 13, 2020
Amotolongbo:
If you don’t know what it means, then you are not staying in Osun
I live in Osun. You can help explain though. It's why I said I don't understand what they are saying.

If 4534 means 4 years in primary, 5 years in Junior sec and 3 years in Senior sec, then I can boldly tell you that's not what we follow here. As I have said, kids spend 6 years in primary, 3 years in Junior sec after which they write this useless exam, Junior Waec. And then 3 years in Senior Sec and then write WAEC. I graduated not long from sec schl too so I know what I am saying. I might be missing something though.
EducationRe: Osun Reverts To 6-3-3-4 Education System by HumanCalc: 9:45am On Aug 13, 2020
But I don't know what they mean. I went to sec school in Osun and I still stay in Osun and I am sure we practice 6334 and not 4534. Kids spend 6 years in primary, 3 years in junior school and then 3 years in Senior Secondary School. So I don't know what this news mean. But I appreciate the fact that school uniforms are going back to how they were and other stupid rules that that bearded goat called Aregbe made. Tufiakwa.

Bro, even though my own problem is nowhere near yours coupled with the fact that I have a well-to-do brother ready to spend his last dime on me, I still feel terrible and depressed on some days just because things have not gone the way I have planned. In your free time, try and make plans for how you want to be successful in life and then chase it like a mad man. Don't let those yahoo boys with nice clothes and big cars distract you. Remember, they won't take care of your life for you.

Try and download Rainbow by Kacey Musgrave if you listen to music and read up the lyrics. With an earpiece, the song should make you feel good whenever you feel depressed. Love from this side.

I need maximum reply to this post abeg

I am probably just too ahead of myself but I can't help asking this abeg. I am not a medical student yet, although I think I stand a good chance. I have applied and all but still, anything can happen. But I like to plan ahead for things and I am already thinking of life as a medical student. From various things I have read about medical schools by medical students here, I understand I am going to be awfully busy and 24hours will be barely enough when the time comes (and here I am at home thinking of what to do with excessive time I have now..lol) but I can't imagine the thought of being dependent on my sponsor for the next 7 years. It's just so horrible to me. The expensive schools fees, the expensive and numerous books and then my own fine boy upkeep money, accomodation and feeding and other things. So here I am asking current and past medical students, is it ever going to be possible for me to hustle while in medical school to atleast make things easier on my sponsor and make my life eaiser. And also, what kind of hustle can I indulge myself in then that I will have time for. Have you yourself as a medical student done anything like this or seen any medical student hustle for money while in school. Btw, I am 20yrs Old. Thanks.
