NASS Roof Leakage Will End Soon, Says Construction Firm





The construction firm handling the renovation of the National Assembly Complex, Visible Construction Limited, has assured that the leaking points on the roof of the complex will be a thing of the past.



The assurance from the construction firm was given on Wednesday by the Project Engineer, Tajudeen Olanipekun, in reaction to social media report on leakages at some points on the White House segment of the complex occasioned by rainfall last week Thursday and Tuesday this week.




Recall that the 9th National Assembly had as a result of the dilapidated condition of the complex over the years, appropriated N30billion to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in 2021 fiscal year for comprehensive renovation of the parliament building.

Visible Construction won the contract and commenced work in April last year while temporary Chambers were provided for both the Senate and the House of Representatives pending the completion of the renovation works.



But, reacting to report of recent roof leakage at the National Assembly Complex, Engineer Olanipekun said his firm was on top of the situation as specialised chemicals for the affected expansion joints on the roof will soon be applied.



He said all the roofs of the complex both at the White House and adjourning structures, have been thoroughly checked for discovery of expansion joints requiring water tight chemicals that will prevent any form of leakage.



The chemical, he added, was already imported from United States of America but would be applied after the raining season this year.



“The report on roof leakage in National Assembly to us at Visible Construction is like marking script of a student still writing his or her examination.



“Renovation work on the entire complex is still being carried out by us. It is when we have finished the work that report on roof leakage can be written, which to us, would never happen as the problem would be thing of the past by the time it is handed over to FCDA that gave us the job.





“There should be no cause for alarm from any quarter as regards the project since Engineers from FCDA are also with us,” he said.



He added that containers of state-of-the-art furniture to be fixed at both Chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives have landed from America along with expatriates who would do the job, which according to him, would make the two chambers among the best in the world.

Preparations for Sallah became preparations for departure to Maiduguri at the briefest notice. Thus began my story which is something close to a travelogue, in the shadows of Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff”. Page XXVI. However, this book is more than a travelogue. It is deliberate, more profound and seriously treated to open people’s eyes to the nitty-gritty of the nation state. Indeed, this is a compendium, a collector’s item.
This is why the book is divided into sections, within fifteen broad chapters. Each chapter treats much broader issues that pertain to Nigeria, to the roles of individuals, army, civilians, all, to enable Nigeria grow or otherwise. Chapter one entitled Sad Tribute of a nation at war with itself, suddenly becomes a leeway into the core basis of the entire book. “A nation divided against itself cannot prosper”, page 1. This anathema or truism summarizes the nation called Nigeria. But the author is quick to stress the role of Britain, the colonial overlords, the responsibilities or lack of it played by Nigeria’s early leaders that resulted to the Nigeria of today. As you make your bed, so you shall lie on it, seems to be the author’s mantra concerning the state of the nation Nigeria, indeed the Nigeria of today.





On page 2, he makes it explicitly clear: “The country is blessed not just with natural resources, but the exploits of her people all over the world across all sectors, speak volumes of her massive human resource endowment”. With this, he goes into some remarkable offers and statements by previous leaders to lead Nigeria aright. What the author is saying invariably is that it is the errors of leaders past and present, that bred and keep breeding the terror of today. Yes, because “Despite hope by founding fathers since independence Nigeria’s journey to nationhood has been turbulent and tumultuous due largely to her internal contradictions and inability of the political players and other influential stakeholders to safely and adequately address their differences for a more united and prosperous country”. And so on and so forth. Page 4.


In chapter two, captured: New enemy, new challenge, the author is clear as to how the issue and the roles of army and indeed the military generally have pointed the way forward for Nigeria. A nation breeds the kind of military that tackles its numerous internal problems. Even then conflicts have been part and parcel of humanity over the years, but how has Nigeria tackled its own problems over time? Books have been written, ideas canvassed and espoused, but have these helped to suppress or prevent wars and crises? Ditto: World Wars I and II and the Nigerian civil war and others across the globe.


On page 31, it is made clearer, “What was however unknown to or not noticed by many Nigerians was that while the arm forces of Nigeria and other security agencies were battling militancy in the Niger Delta, communal clashes, political thugs, armed bandits and other forms of criminal tendencies in the country, a deadly group was establishing its roots in North eastern Nigeria”. Thus, Boko Haram was born. Jibrin thus hits the nail on the head as he sets minds racing into the past.
In chapter three, we encounter a recurrent theme in the Boko Haram’s adventures in Nigeria. Entitled: The Chibok nightmare, the author opens it with a mind bogging quote. “Terrorists are masters of mind control”. This was the strategy they employed from the onset to upstage the scene and put Nigerians in a state of anomie, fear and disarray. It was then time for the military to act promptly and decisively. The abduction of the Chibok girls, the serious siege on Yobe and Bornu States set the nation and the entire military on edge. In the face of reckless and ceaseless bombings and killings in many parts of Nigeria by Boko Haram, the issue of the Chibok girls became a time to rise to the occasion. On page 39, “Clearly, 2014 was the year of Boko Haram… It also intensified its suicide attacks on major towns and villages in the country, including the federal capital Abuja… The Chibok abduction occurred the same day with another deadly attack on Nigeria’s capital, Abuja”. Thus, began the tortuous journey of these teenage school girls into the belly of Boko Haram.
Shouts of chei there’s God and so on, have since rented the air, yet, the girls are still in the dragnet of Boko Haram. For one thing, this book is provocative, bent on making history come alive, become renewed and topical in the annals of Nigeria.
In chapter four, we have the theme- The return of a ‘Seventh time loser’. With the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari, the tide suddenly changed for good. As soon as he appointed Lt. Gen. T.Y. Buratai, this brutish and no nonsense army general as a Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, he took the war straight to the home of Boko Haram. Jibrin, a close participant in this story is clear when he says that the emergence of Buhari after losing several times at the polls was a blessing in disguise. His coming into office thus became an albatross for terrorists in Nigeria. After tracing the history of Nigeria’s military since the colonial days, he gives unreserved credit to Buhari for his tenacity of purpose and prompt wisdom in tackling terrorism to its logical end.





On page 63, the book says “Like the armed forces, President Muhammadu Buhari’s trajectory is intrinsically linked to the history of Nigeria…” So when he became Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of Nigeria in 2015, it was critical he rooted hoodlums out of the land. And this, in other words, commences the next stage of this book.
In chapter five, and with the Eagle Square Declaration, President Buhari noted: “Boko Haram is a typical example of small fires causing large fires”. He made the military trigger ready with this critical observation. As he drove into the Eagle Square for his inauguration, keen on his mind was how to free Nigeria from the foyers of insecurity. Also he quickly responded that Boko Haram was not the only security issue bedeviling our country. On page 80, he was deeply troubled when he says: “We are going to erect and maintain efficient, disciplined people-friendly and well-compensated security forces within an over-all security architecture”. And so he set the ball rolling with immediate effect. As an
embedded reporter, Jibrin knows how to critically background each chapter in order to send the necessary message across to the reader. This is one of the reasons this book is a must read for all well-meaning peoples of the world, particularly Nigerians.
In chapter six, Buhari is now in the saddle of leadership. Buhari in his usual characteristic way did not immediately change service chiefs. But when he eventually did, it was not just phenomenal, it was most effectual. Before this decision he had ordered the military command to move deeper into the North East for more effective counter-insurgency. This done, on July 13, 2015, he promptly appointed new service chiefs with Lt. Gen. T.Y. Buratai taking over as the Chief of Army Staff. Henceforth, Buratai took over with full force, swinging into action. Without wasting time he shows he is a man of destiny. On page 87, Jibrin refers to him as a man whom some of his course mates simply refer to as a cat with nine lives. Or a rejected stone that became the head cornerstone. A native of Biu, in Bornu State, his appointment as the son of the soil offered him plenty elbow room to swim within a familiar terrain to uproot and destroy the strongholds of Boko Haram.
No doubt, he comes from a community of warriors when his own father was also a soldier. Enamoured by his background, Buratai dares where angels fear to go.
His appointment, alongside others, is well enumerated in this chapter and this leaves no one in doubt that Jibrin is a talented chronicler, a historian in all sense of the word. Indeed he is a crack reporter.
Since the book is divided into parts as well, part two of it opens with A New Sheriff. And who is this Sheriff, so revered and feared and respected? This is chapter seven-Soja go! Soja com! Barracks no go empty! It is not just a slogan; it is the way of the military. It shows that no position is permanent. And so on 16th of July, 2015, Buratai officially took over the mantle of leadership with changes here and there in the army cadre. Ndace also reveals his own family history of soldering as a career. No wonder therefore he feels at home with his call to duty as embedded defence correspondent.
All in all, the author embellishes this part and chapter with appropriate glossary pictures of his exploits and those of his principal and all the people that are involved in this crusade. It is a glorious section.
And “Where do you think we are going”? This is the title of chapter eight of the book. Starting with an epoch quote by General Baron De Jomini that states that “If a general desires to be a successful actor in the great drama of war, his first duty is to study carefully the theatre of operations so that he may see clearly the relative advantage and disadvantage it presents for himself and his enemies”. Bearing this in mind, Buratai did not waste time to head towards the core inner areas of the North East to see first-hand where and how to tackle the insurgents. He needed to understand the geography better. While doing this he took along the military and civilian personae that mattered to him in this patriotic assignment. That was how the journey ended at night in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital. This was when the Boko Haram upsurge was intense, indeed at its hottest peak, tormenting the public to no end.
In chapter nine, attention is now focused on Damaturu. Entitled Damaturu: Walking on a battleground, we see a Buratai who is battle ready; who has chosen to surprise everyone with his unannounced entry into the town. It was a big blow to the enemies of the state. For this reason the soldiers who had been out there in the cold were happy to receive the Chief of Army Staff with an open arm. Page 139, “A soldier who told me he had been in the North East for four years expressed his delight. This will really encourage us. When your number one officer visits you and stays with you, eats with you, there is nothing more than that”, the soldier said.
It was in the midst of all these that all marched through landmines. In chapter Ten, entitled marching on landmines, emphasis is on courage. Here Buratai serves as an example. The author notes that two days after being embedded his mind is made for the battles ahead. Not only that, he is imbued with renewed vigour and courage, Buratai is included as he also encourages others to fall in line.
Chapters eleven to the end, to twelve, thirteen through fifteen all hammer on the different places and locations where the battles were fought and won. The stories traverse the whole gamut of the North East, laying open the troubles on the way and tactics employed by Buratai and his team to rout out and destroy the last strongholds of the insurgents.
It was tough, rough and terrifying. Most especially the journeys through Maiduguri to Gamboru, Nigeria’s border with Chad, the terrain of the routes, the abnormality of the roads, further sent signals of how horrible the areas were. Yet the brevity of Buratai and his team became overriding in all these. In the end, his command overcame and it became duty call under General Buratai. The author notes, in the end, that it is good for every honest man, soldier or civilian to be called to duty just like Buratai was. That way, the nation will be saved, remain in safe hands, and peace and tranquility will return

The funny thing is that all these bag eggs misinterpreting prophets and pastors all in all denominations and God will judge them and fish them all out.

Let’s embrace love and unity and know that there is oneness in Christ.

Bawa's Suspension: Arewa Group Identifies Top Officials For Sanction

The Arewa Youth Comsultative Forum (AYCF) has commended President Bola Tinubu for the swiftness with which he suspended the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.

The AYCF, in a statement on Thursday, described Bawa as compromised saying his suspension was a reassurance from the current administration that it would not condone the widespread corruption that characterised the last administration.

The statement signed by AYCF's National President, Alhaji Yarima Shettima, also called for the total overhauling of the EFCC and the suspension of top officials of the agency including those considered as Bawa's alleged accomplices.

The group named Bawa's Chief of Staff, Hadiza Ibrahim Gamawa, and the Chairman, Monitoring Unit 1, Abuja, Shehu Ala, as those who needed to be thoroughly investigated.

On behalf of the youths of Northern Nigeria, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum wishes to express is deeply appreciation for the swift action taken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of suspending the widely believed compromised Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, indefinitely, and ordering thorough investigation of the activities of the agency under his watch.

The move by Mr President is a reassurance of his government's commitment to addressing the sceptre of endemic, widespread corruption and political avarice that characterised the eight-year tenure of previous administration attributable to a lack of application of relevant laws against corrupt practices among officials of the regime and the apparent compromise of the EFCC under Abdulrasheed Bawa.

While welcoming the federal government action against Bawa, we are also of the view that it needs to extend the measure to include a total overhaul of the EFCC to flush out remnants of Abdulrasheed Bawa's accomplices entrenched in top positions of the agency.

As we expect thorough investigations to expose and punish the extent of compromise and complicity of Bawa, it is equally expected that his major accomplices such as his Chief of Staff, Hadiza Ibrahim Gamawa, be suspended as well and subjected to investigation and subsequent prosecution.

There are incontrovertible facts that the children of the said Chief of Staff Gamawa who is married to a naval officer were trained in expensive foreign schools.

This inadvertently raises the question of the source of the funds used for such expensive training in addition to several assets owned by the said Gamawa.

With regards to the fate that befell Bawa, we consider it a bad lesson for the young generation of Nigerians. We categorically state that Bawa has been a huge disappointment for the young people of Nigeria who are supposed to be the natural claimants to the task of shaping the future of the Nigerian society.

Bawa himself apart from his incompetent handling of the EFCC boss has also acquired massive assets in unexplained and suspicious circumstances that need to be investigated.

He is also on record as having indulged in flamboyant lifestyle that involved expensive family trips abroad at will.
Other incontrovertible evidences around that Bawa is majorly responsible for all the damaging economic policies pursued by the former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele that had sunk the nation into deep crisis and brought about mass sufferings on innocent citizens.

While we once again hail the government action against corrupt practices and officers with corrupt tendencies, we pray that the likes of Bawa shall never again be entrusted with positions of responsibility only to end up letting down the youth constituency.

According to Rowland, Obasa stated this in his acceptance speech as a third-term speaker of the Lagos parliament and the inauguration of the 10th Lagos assembly on Tuesday that Lagos state parliament will pass new property, and business ownership laws in the state due to ethno-political and religious division that happened during the last 2023 general elections.On different occasions I have called him to condemn MC Olumo for his heinous act to a tribe he always choose to turn blind eyes to the truth.

In the presidential and governorship elections, particularly, many Igbos supported the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the LP for the state governorship election respectively.

In his words, he said "In my opinion I think Obasa should step down as the speaker because he has already proven that he is not a healer, he has no respect for the rule of law nor for our great investors from around the world and the entire Nigerian people. Rowland Okorie calls it a dangerous move that reminds the igbos about the abandoned properties tagged to properties belonging to igbos after the civil war. Igbos should really wake up. This move is dangerous and unacceptable.

Members of his cabinet should have proposed several youth empowerment programs that would create jobs and generate millions of naira for the country and the state, but he rather went this way and never attended any. In my thoughts one condition for the 3rd time in a row for Obasa speakers was agreeing to enact a law that would discriminate against the igbos.

General Buratai: A Sparse Speaker And Still This Legendary Character




It was difficult to convince some active-duty and retired military personnel to talk to them about the former Army Chief Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai. Meeting some of these serving officers in the barracks was like daring to enter the lion’s den to steal part of his prey. But even on dangerous terrain, I have done so several times in my job as a journalist. Soldiers are just ordinary folks like us. The difference is the brutal training they underwent to transform from civilians to war machines with the aim of defending a nation’s integrity.
Unless one hits on their beast of prey, these brothers in green uniforms and welding with weapons while standing in their boots in their solidly guts are frequently soft and gentle. Since I have been an investigative journalist with a focus on security reporting for many years, I am aware of the circumstances in which troops would wish to be featured in a story while discussing a sensitive issue. As a result, I gave them the normal assurances of anonymity in the spirit of journalism. And I stick by my commitment to these hapless soldiers who are confined within the barracks’ four walls.



Although they spoke well of the former Army chief, the fear of being witch-hunted by those who may not like their positions on General Buratai should be respected. As such, I have given my words not to mention them in my stories but their mouths have spoken many truths that makes the former COAS the envy of some comrades who lost the spirit of comradeship, which should continue for a lifetime as members of the war spirits.



One of the men who spoke with me described former Army Chief Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai as a cherub with eyes over all his wings and therefore, nothing would catch him off guard. ” He is gentle yet strong. I am not surprised that some of his colleagues are envious of his rising political status after retirement. I know some of these stories from your questions but you did not hear anything from me.” One of the Officers said.” You know what they always said, just act like you don’t know, “he added.

I think there should be a curriculum for retired generals and soldiers who are delving into politics after retirement. The unethical approaches and loss of comradeship is tiring the long-known military sayings from the regimented wombs. It was said that, when you have an enemy, he tags along with other enemies to discuss you. But in the end, they are all enemies of one another. As such, whatever they discussed about you in the closet, everything is made open by one of them in the final analysis.

One of them may have revealed the gathering of a few retired generals at the home of one of those hosting them to talk politics and how to keep the former army chief general Tukur Yusuf Buratai away from the Tinubu camp at the table where dirt was hatched on how to control the Tinubu administration in the coming days. Some of the former generals present at the conference, as well as the opponents, are entering politics on the wrong footings. I purposely chose not to reveal their names in this article, but we do have lists of them.

“They just got together and decided to do all in their power to keep former Army Chief Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai far away from the Tinubu administration. They also had big plans for a smear campaign against him. We must pay close attention to these politics and the flood of retired military personnel. I would like a scenario in which retired military commanders or any other uniformed individuals should be sent back to school to refresh their knowledge of civilian life before re-entering society. Concern is warranted given certain former officers’ actions and what is now going on in our nation with politicians and uniformed personnel.” An impeccable source revealed
Last Tuesday, we revealed efforts to discredit the former chief of the army, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, due to internal political conflicts and anticipations for the appointments the Tinubu government is expected to make in the coming days. Truth be told, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, as reserved as he was, was a crucial component of the security architecture and made a lasting impression on the Nigerian military, making him a legendary figure. It makes sense why he has been the target of those who believe they can erase his accomplishments by tearing him down.

Indeed, when a general treated his troops as his own children, as they said, they would accompany him into any valley to vanquish his foes. Because of this, nothing concerning the former Army Chief that occurred within or outside the barracks would escape his notice within a 24-hour period. I believe that his soldiers are still showing him thanks by doing this.

This is not the best of the season for the immediate past governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele as he has booted out yesterday and consequently arrested by DSS.


Sadly, his sack and arrest have been prophetically revealed last year by Prophet Kingsley Aitafo. In his prediction, he revealed that he will end his tenure in disarray and will be arrested and that if care is not taken he would spend a long time in detention



It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, CFR, from office with immediate effect.

This is a sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.

EXPOSED: Those trying to pit Buratai against Tinubu


When I received not just the news but the evidence as well that some retired generals, all of whom have held very senior command positions in the Nigerian military, are now up in arms against one of their own, former Army Chief, General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, for cheap political reasons, I wondered whether those characters have forgotten that the esprit de corps they were taught as cadets in the Nigerian Defence Academy does not stop even in retirement. It remains an integral part of military training and is aimed at encouraging and getting the best from one another.



Shocked by the childish activities of this shadowy group, the Kano Renaissance Group, a group I am privileged to lead, issued a strong statement yesterday warning these divisive characters to stop all the desperate shenanigans or get exposed and humiliated in the public space. The press statement reads as follows:



“The attention of Kano Renaissance Group has been drawn to series of nocturnal meetings being held by some retired military personnel, with the sole purpose of working out mechanisms to malign the person of former ambassador and Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Retd), and ensure he is reduced in esteem in the eyes of President Bola Tinubu and other well-meaning Nigerians.

“We are closely watching all the night meetings and other dastardly moves by various groups that are opposed to Buratai, whose real intention is to entangle President Tinubu. For them, since they are not qualified for any appointment, those who are eminently qualified should only get it if they can agree to grease their dirty palms at all times.



But what comes as even more shocking is the fact that none of the generals engaged in these dangerous efforts is an outstanding achiever, in the real sense of the word. They may have held very big offices in the past, with one of them serving as a one-term minister in the immediate past administration of President Buhari. But even he achieved practically nothing spectacular. Are they desperately doing all these so that General Buratai will not join the Tinubu administration and inadvertently shame them with another round of patriotic, spectacular achievements?


For those who may not know, or have forgotten, below is a reminder of the unprecedented strides recorded by General Buratai when he served as Chief of Army Staff, assuming office at a difficult time in the history of Nigeria when Boko Haram was almost overrunning the entire northeastern part of the country.
By 2015 when Muhammadu Buhari became President of the Nigerian federation and appointed General Tukur Yusufu Buratai as Army Chief, Boko Haram was governing a sizeable chunk of Nigerian territorial space, exactly the size of Belgium. But by December 2015, the new army chief had led from the front and ensured the initiative was seized from the Boko Haram insurgents. Barely five months into that appointment, attacks on soft and hard targets had reduced by 75 per cent, By June 2016, there was no attacks outside the North-East, unlike before when attacks were regular occurrences in Jos, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Suleja, Abuja, among others.
By July 2017, the incessant suicide bomb attacks had reduced by 90 per cent. The years 2017 and 2018 saw the virtual defeat of the terrorists. What brought about the intermittent setbacks were mainly inter-service competition (not conflict), lack of establishment of civil authorities in the recovered local government areas, low deployment of the Nigerian police in the North-East, uncoordinated government efforts and of course the resilience of the terrorists in regrouping, recruitment and re-arming. The evolution of new tactics, techniques and procedures in the counterinsurgency operations are major achievements. The Super Camp Maneuver Concept of operation, the Mobule Strike Teams, the production of the Ezugwu MRAP, the Motorcycle Battalion, the revival and operationalisation of the Special Forces Command, etc, are all initiatives borne out of the challenges of the counterinsurgency operations of that era.
In spite of these landmark achievements, if you ask General Buratai what were his major achievements as army chief, chances are he will mention extensive training of army personnel and human capacity building, which are the defining factors in true military professionalism. Courses were regularly conducted. Officers and soldiers were exposed in large numbers to foreign courses. The Nigerian Army will never be the same in terms of the quality of its officers and soldiers. They can compete and excel in all international military engagements. The Nigerian Army Resource Centre is one institution that transformed the army landscape in terms of human capacity building. It has since become a major source of pride for the army and the country as a whole.
Then came the Nigerian Army University located in Biu, as one of the foremost legacies of Buratai and indeed the Buhari Administration.
The five years stewardship of General Buratai as Army Chief saw to many exercises being established. Exercise is the best form of military professional training. The introduction of realistic training exercises were among the visionary legacies of General Buratai The exercises conducted during that time included HARBIN KUNAMA, CRICODILE SMILE, AYAM AKPATUMA, PYTHON DANCE-and SAHEL SANITY, all of which were both visionary and strategic. With the conduct of the exercises two major objectives were achieved. One was training of the Nigerian Army officers and soldiers in Tactics, Techniques and Procedures in internal security operations. Secondly, it also contributed to national security improvement where security challenges across the geopolitical zones of the country were addressed decisively. During the tenure of General Tukur Buratai, the IPOB and MEND amongst others were checkmated. This is in addition to several counter-insurgency operations. Bandits, kidnappers and violent separatists were also decisively dealt with and operating at best in the fringes.
Other achievements recorded during that period included medical evacuation abroad, upgrade of all Army Level 4 hospitals, general improvement of educational standard, increase in troops morale (though a few cases were politicized by unscrupulous politicians), massive barracks renovations, massive infrastructural development, massive lift capabilities, improved procurement for the Army, as well as standardisation of Army uniforms.
New institutions were also established, including the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Women Corps, Land Forces Simulation Centre, ST Foods, Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches and others that are too numerous to mention here.
Though toughness has become his defining feature right from childhood, General Buratai managed to balance it with diplomacy even when he was in active service. Under his stewardship, the Human Rights Desk was established, and incidences of military brutality were reduced to barest minimum. Many civilians attested to the fact that they always forgot the man was the Army Chief when in his presence. He exuded simplicity and humility at their very best.
These are just a mere tip of the iceberg. A space like this could take a fraction of the unprecedented achievements recorded in that golden era in the history of the Nigerian Army. Was Buratai a saint who did no wrong? Far from it, just as none of the persons point dirty fingers at him is a saint, or even half as one. Indeed, all of them have bequeathed a record of failure in all its ramifications while in service. Clearly they do not mean well towards President Tinubu, and the government will do well to beam its searchlight on their nefarious activities and be sure they also do not engage in subversive actions of any sort.
This columns hopes they see the futility of what they are doing, so as not to deprive this nation of the services of one of its very best.

And sadly, just as he stated, religious broadcaster and founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, Pat Robertson, who led the Christian Coalition and ran for president as a Republican, has died.
On Thursday, the Christian Broadcasting Network announced his death. No cause was given. He was 93.
Robertson’s enterprises also included Regent University, an evangelical Christian school in Virginia Beach; the American Center for Law and Justice, which defends the first amendment rights of religious people; and Operation Blessing, an international humanitarian organization.
But for more than half a century, Robertson was a familiar presence in American living rooms, known for his 700 Club television show, and in later years, his televised pronouncements of God’s judgment on America for everything from homosexuality to the teaching of evolution

Generals At War: How Sadique, Monguno’s Media Brokers Allegedly Approached Editors, Bloggers With Scripts To Disparage Buratai

I anticipated that this article could involve treading on some sensitive ground. But I am aware that standing up for the truth may also be heroism. Nigeria will be a better country when those with the proper minds stand up for the truth. When he arrived with the notion of a rekindled optimism, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held this position. Therefore, it is too early for those whose selfish interests aim to stifle government to make way for a better Nigeria.



Recent assaults by Sahara Reporters on the former head of the Army, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, have revealed more people and organizations with ill will toward the current leadership. Additionally, they are currently attempting to put the current president against the former army chief for their selfish political reasons.




While we continue to keep an eye on their activities, it is becoming more and more obvious that these elements will be exposed in their upcoming attempt to assassinate the character of the former Army Chief, whose political relevance in the new administration is giving them nightmares because their hired media shills have been exposed too.




It is evident that one of their leads, Hon. Kabiru Mohammed has been to Lagos to finalize a plan to pitch President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu against Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the former head of the army. a project allegedly supported by certain ex-comrades who became involved in politics and are starting to learn how to play the system by causing trouble and blackmailing people after hanging up their boots and looking for importance in the new administration.



This is happening as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s new government is systematically handpicking the best people to assist him in leading Nigeria ahead in the direction of a vision of renewed hope. Well-meaning Nigerians praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement of the appointments of his chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, and secretary to the government of the federal. Their tactics is to deny him the privilege of strategic thinking in appointing the best as he will.



The rumour making the round is already making some former service chiefs fall over themselves with a sinister mind of working for themselves or their preferred persons against any choice they feared President Tinubu may make, which is contrary to their plans of holding the government’s jugulars. The Tinubu’s administration is yet to make the announcement of who makes the ministerial lists but names running the rumour mill over the possibility of bringing former Army Chief Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai is already unsettling former military Generals under the Buhari administration.


General Monguno and Ex- Air Chief Sadique Abubakar were mentioned as already fighting General Tukur Yusuf Buratai for whatever was left unfinished while in the army or for mere ego that they feared he possessed an intimidating record to stand taller in the next move by the president.


Recall that long ago, while Buratai was in charge of the Nigerian Army, attempts were made to undermine his successes in repositioning the security architecture. Emmanuel Onwubiko, the Coordinator of HURIWA, claims that moles have been put in the Army whose actions are intended to undermine General Buratai’s efforts to combat terrorism, particularly in the northeastern region of Nigeria.
Onwubiko’s statement reads: “There is no gainsaying the fact that the transformation of the Nigerian Army rapidly manifested under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff; Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), who was proactive in the war against terrorism despite efforts by moles and saboteurs embedded within the Army who were derailing the objectives of the counter Terror War and the efforts for the respect for fundamental human rights.”


Onwubiko suggested that perhaps those who haven’t been persuaded by the remarkable transformational measures devised to reposition the Nigerian Army for successful counter-insurgency battles and maintain military-civilian relationship practices are either bad historians or have poor memory retention.


He claims that recently, as part of the celebrations for the 2020 Nigerian Army Day and its corporate social responsibility, the newly constructed Camp Delta Force Quick Reaction Base was commissioned to improve the readiness of the military to respond quickly to terrorist activities in the communities. This was done in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
He said that the tremendous accomplishments that helped the Nigerian Army rise to the position of leadership in the security community would not have been possible without the devotion and selfless service of the previous Army Chief. This did not sit well with other groups, who, as Onwubiko noted, had hired spies to blame for the victories that had a direct bearing on the fighting in the northeast and, by extension, the northwest of Nigeria.



According to reports, the tainted relationship between the former Army Chief Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai and the outgoing NSA General Monguno retired was a continuation of the feud that began between the late Chief of Staff to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Abba Kyari, and the outgoing NSA General Monguno retired. The article further stated that given the present political situation, outgoing NSA General Monguno has reaffirmed his commitment to preventing any influence or appointments for former Army Chief Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai inside the Tinubu government.


Additionally, it was learned that the outgoing NSA went above and above to compile a long list of supposed events that took place during General Buratai’s heyday as COAS in an effort to discredit and denigrate him in the public eye. Even though it was revealed that the former Air Chief Sadique Abubakar was behind recent attacks by Sahara Reporters on the personality of the former Army Chief, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, it is rumored that General Monguno may not be the only person seeking General Buratai’s downfall in the unfolding political relevance of the former Army Chief.


“From late yesterday to this morning, I received calls from some of my editor colleagues, including SR itself, about an approach made to them to publish a well-scripted damaging story on the former Army Chief, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, alleging that he secretly helped PDP during the last presidential election that Asiwaju won,” said the editor who expressed his thoughts on the misguided attempt to smear Buratai’s name. I think they’re playing a game here to pitch the current administration against the old Army Chief, who is already starting to matter politically under the Bola Tinubu-led administration.


It was gathered that on Hon. Kabiru Mohammed was being used in media campaigns against the former Army Chief for at least two years now. He was said to be presently in Lagos in the pursuit of the dastardly assignment.
We also gathered that General Monguno (rtd0 is doing an executive summary of all the alleged infractions, which he plans to present to President Tinubu later this week. Hon. Kabiru will then ensure regular publication of snippets in the social and mainstream media – all with a view to damaging the reputation of the General and stopping his good relationship with the new administration.
