It is well. But you were just lucky there, you could have been booked. So truth is, it's better to live by the rules as someone said. The first two times I was let off did not mean it should be the norm. Cheers all round.
Yeah, LOL

Been careful since then

I'm just hearing this for the first time, can someone confirm please.

Do you actually board a train before buying ticket or you're supposed to buy ticket before boarding. I know the fine for being in a train without ticket is £100.

I also thought train stations have ticket machines that accepts cash.
In my own case, I was heading to Colchester from London Liv so I just tapped in (I asked one of the officers there and she said I dont need to buy a ticket)

Got on the ticket and was told i should have gotten one at the machine so i just bought it from the ticket guy

Ooh wow. Truly these occurrences are not enough to cast judgement or think you are targeted, to me I just believe they're doing their job and I don't take it personal. In all I give thanks to God because I have not had an adverse situation to complain about. I always buy my tickets before going to the station and whenever I notice I am not with y railcard, I always rush back to pick it up before continuing. I no want dem wahala cheesy cheesy cheesy

But all this time you have not said that you have dependants wink...you should divulge the full facts so we can advise you properly grin

On a serious note, yes it would not be possible to bring in dependants post spring in the care sector, however I believe care/support workers in the NHS are exempted so you could have that as your backup plan perhaps, although I'm pretty sure your plan A Tech role will come through.
I Can neither confirm nor deny grin

I pray Plan A comes through, next year will be very interesting smiley

Lol hustla, be calming down smiley Once you get a sponsored job (outside of care) above 38,700 (or 27k if it's a grad role) then you are on the standard work visa, dependants are allowed etc.
Healthcare/support roles (outside of the NHS) are not allowed any dependants regardless of salary
Mehn, this effectively kills the support role I had as backup plan in case everything else fails shocked

Means I have to either switch to the support role before April or just face my Tech as one and only backup plan

shocked grin

I have a railcard but the only times I've been specifically asked to present it had been at the instance of the black rail commercial team members.
.. And only white people have ever asked me for it so it goes both ways

Infact, the only time I made a mistake and didnt pay, it was a black guy and he explained what happened to me. Also told me i can get a refund

The truth is many don't know the level of impact now until implementation begins, lots of folks who think it's a good idea will have a change of mind soon. Many are going to be stranded, simple.
Abeg, can you explain what it means as of now?

If I get a tech job that pays 38,700, how does it apply to me?

If I get a healthcare / support role, how does it apply to me?

It’s not correct. ILR eligibility is calculated based on time that a person has worked in the UK, and their salary over the period and at the time of application. Number of employers is irrelevant.

I was starting to wonder when what he said came into place cis that will mean getting stuck with an employer for 5years

I don't think the 3 years counts towards ILR 5 years route with another employer

Those on student visas and post study are seen as new entrants into the labour market where new entrant rule applies. Salary threshold at 70% of 38700 which is 27k but only 3 years of COS
Hmmm, that's not bad at all..

3 years also isn't bad. During that time, one should be able to get a better paying role

Thought its blanket for everyone regardless of where they're coming from. One last Q, does it apply to those in Tech and maybe HR also?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by hustla(m): 9:34pm On Dec 10, 2023
Zahra29:
The uplift of the skilled worker salary threshold from £26,200 to £38,700 is significant– won’t that affect a large number of occupations?

The policy change means we are asking employers to focus on recruiting the brightest and best, those earning within the top half of the earnings spectrum for both their occupation and all skilled occupations.
Salary discounts for those towards the start of their careers will still exist, but it is right to focus on supporting a high-skilled, high-productivity, high-wage economy.
So how will they know who's just starting and what's the salary threshold for them?

Your response above doesnt look like a time frame.
