We can clearly see why the country is in a mess...... LOL Nigeria won't get better anytime soon. If you elect a clown, you expect a circus. It seems the new rules for salary will apply to Healthcare workers too and there are rumors of cuts to number of dependents for Healthcare visas It will reduce migration to the levels they want but im not sure how NHS will cope when people start migrating elsewhere |

Wifeoflgbo: I was previously heavier at 90kilograms but I didn't look very big. He told me at the time that he liked it. And that he liked my body.
But recently I have lost weight. He told me I have done okay but to not gain anymore weight. But to lose more if I can. Even though I am feeling sick from lack of food. My medication is what keeps myle chubby. So I have to eat very little just to lose weight.
My husband is igbo and lives in Owerri and I am a white westerner. So maybe I am misunderstanding or the cultures are clashing here? The culture is different , We do not celebrate the wokeness and nonsense fat positivity that the West likes to do. I know women do not like the truth but the gym will make sense to go. Drag him along too and do the fitness journey together. Makes it more fun |

A long time now, refusals are no longer stamped on passports.
Cheers Mehn, it means times have changed as they never used to deny people back in 2021 I learnt they also have been denying student dependents a lot and they ask for way more proof for dependent applications How true is that? |

Goke7: It’s not common place anything, the stats released by govt shows it. Am talking from the data released and if you want to know there is another site that tells you company by company how many workers they sponsor within a year. That’s when you will know that many have the license but don’t sponsor. I’ve seen large companies with thousands of employees on their payroll that won’t sponsor more than 50 in a year. The salary requirement increases is definitely coming but again the health sector won’t be affected and we will blame people again for going that route ok oo |

Goke7: Are we going from health care to ice cream shop now, let me know o
That companies sign up to get license does not mean they will sponsor. Make Una no give people bp on top this sponsorship matter o
Hope you also realise that by the time they increase the salary requirement for skilled workers that again will reduce the ability of more companies to sponsor. Smell the coffee they say they want to reduce net migration and we are here encouraging people to gamble, Dey play and keep playing. You guys don’t know the damage Suella and gang has done I am just telling you its more commonplace than you think, stop trying to shift the goal post. If you are talking about companies with sponsorship that may not want to, NHS trusts also do it and some want to sponsor certain roles only. Monzo and Starling do the exact same thing The salary requirement has not been implemented yet so ... |

Goke7: How many companies outside the healthcare sector are sponsoring skilled workers?
Some of us are not realistic enough, from the current stats it clearly shows not many companies outside the healthcare sector sponsor skilled workers and that’s the only major pathway in this country. And from my current observation the number of companies outside the health sector that are sponsoring keeps reducing. Not true, as a matter of fact, lots of companies sponsor that arent in the healthcare sector sponsor. In actual fact, i have seen ice cream shops with sponsorship while browsing through As of 11th November, 2023, the figure for London was about 26,000. Means 2,000+ companies signed up to sponsor folks (i will check the exact figures to confirm) See, the thing about life is, you only see what you want to see

Ukliving: But why should it baffle you?
What if he realized that cybersecurity is not his passion? Or he genuinely wants to use care work visa as a stepping stone. I know someone who started with care work and transitioned into occupational therapy working for the NHS now and doesn't do bedside care anymore. Infact she got the OP role in the NHS just one year into her tier 2.
And for many, survival first especially when you have a spouse and children. Being a parent means you make sacrifices for the good of all.
He won't be doing it forever.
He can change career 100 times if he wants. Whew! OK |

justwise: My question is this.. if you studied a particular subject and applied for jobs with no success what do you do? Go back to school to get more certificate ? Go back to Nigeria to start looking for job? Thinking that you must work in the area you studied is outdated. Education gives you the exposure , the ability to make rational decisions.
Yes this may sound controversial but given the choice I will take health care sponsorship over PSW.
PSW should be avoided if you can, I will take it if that is the only option available. This means you failed to read my initial premise The guy in question left school after 1 year to switch to care worker COS. He did not finish or even attempt to apply for jobs in the chosen career area before switching. If it were a course like Intl Business and the like, its very understandable No one said not to switch to healthcare sponsorship if time is running out; not even attempting is what baffled me His life, his choices at the end of the day People will choose what they want depending on their risk appetite and how they perceive their strengths, ability to hold out / delayed gratification etc |

justwise: Your friend can swtich back to Cybersecurity when he settles with full right to live and work in this country, nobody pins him down to health care work for ever. He is thinking outside the box which is what education gives you. You studied Cybersecurity and you applied for jobs with no positive outcome then what? You keep waiting until your visa expires? dupyshoo: People just want to get into skilled worker visa immediately. I was practically begging someone to send me his CV. He was just interested in getting COS from a care home. This is someone that studied cybersecurity.
Also, I have spoken to a lot of students as we have huge no of students in my town. Some of them don't even have a clue what they are studying. They hire people to do their dissertation and course works. Are those people students?
However, some students are still trying their best though and I am certain their hard work will pay soon. 1000000000% facts Called up a friend some weeks back cos I didn't see him in class, Baba said he switched to care visa, from Cybersecurity Msc. I was shocked Told two people I wanted to start writing my dissertation and they literally made fun of me for not outsourcing it. Do you think people like that have actual plans after school? Just go to school, outsource class work, 0 certs, 0 internship, 0 experience from Nigeria. What do you expect? COS from care homes may be the only option Too many funny things I have seen in this UK waka abeg |

Goke7: I think you may be talking from your personal experience, on the contrary lots of folks just use the UK as a transition route. Their final destination is either the US or Canada, like Justwise said the longer processing time for Canada is a factor and many in the UK are just waiting for their PR application to fall through before taking off from the UK. 0 lies detected Out of all the guys we came in together, only one does not have a leg in Canada and that's cos he wants Australia. One even left to Yankee on visiting and never returned Most people just finish school, apply for the Canada PR as soon as they are on PSW and just wait it out. Before 2 yrs PSW is complete, them don port |
