Good morning my people. |

frank317:It's really sad... that's the genesis of Nigeria's problem. This misplaced priorities which their religious beliefs promotes has transcended into our political system and destroyed it totally. Look at who has been ruling Nigeria since independence, christians and Muslims...yet, we are poverty, corruption and evil capital of the world. This brainwashed lots will soon start campaigning that atheism is the problem of Nigeria, but they're the ones destroying the nation since independence...or are they still going to blame the ordinary freethinking folks? |
MuttleyLaff:Hey MuttleyLaff, tell us what religion is...Looks like you really have the right knowledge of it. |
I'm happy my people are waking up! |
Lol. The atheist doesn't have a name/moniker right? This one is still learning how to prophesy. Christ is bothered with encountering an atheist while his children hide from a tiny invisible virus. Misplaced priorities I guess! |
EngrOversabi:Lol... It's not that easy. |
DaddyGngeess:Sure... anything can happen, yet... |
CAPSLOCKED: I'm telling you o... Ant almost bit me this morning, but i shouted "Jesus Christ!" and God saved me from getting bitten by that ant. Who knows what would have happened if i was not quick enough to shout my God's name... that ant would have bitten me. Praise God!!! God will never allow ant or anything to bite me or any other person in Jesus name!!! And the Amens will start flowing in!!! |
Many of us might be familiar about Boiling Frog Syndrome. A frog is swimming in the lukewarm waters inside the kettle. There is fire beneath the kettle and the water is slowly getting warmer. Frogs have this inbuilt tendency to adjust the temperature accordingly with the environment. So as the water keeps getting hotter, the frog also keeps adjusting its temperature. Finally, when the water starts boiling the frog cannot take it anymore. It wants to jump out but it cannot as it has used up all its energy in adjusting with the water temperature. It remains trapped helplessly in the container and dies. Similarly, during this age—from twenty to twenty-nine—you will be testing waters. You will be swimming in many lukewarm water kettles like relationship, ambition, career, work etc. The decisions you take during this period will change your whole life drastically like snowball effect. So if you realise you are in a toxic relationship, let go of it. If you know that your passion lies in some other job, apply for it and leave this job. If you want to start your company, try looking at the opportunities. The downside of this age-period is that this is the first comfort zone you will encounter in your life. And there’s a high chance you might get addicted to it. Don’t get addicted to the warmth or don’t convince yourself to get adjusted with the waters. You will only kill the enthusiasm inside you. And it will be too late when the realization strikes you. Before-30 is the only time when you can truly experiment. It is the only time when you have energy and time to leap freely and try different things that excite you. This is the best time to know lot of life lessons with minimal damage. Learn from every mistake you make and every hardship you face during teenage years. When people take advantage of you, when your relationship is strained, learn from it or when you lost your temper and spoiled your friendship, learn from them. At this age, the loss and amount of heartbreak is fairly less. At 30, you cannot afford to be overly harsh on someone during silly arguments or let people take advantage of you or let your relationship break into pieces. The loss will be severe. Don't let go of your 20s. It's the only time you'll get to travel, to experiment, to follow your dreams, to meet new people, to see new things , to learn something new, to fall in love, to see how wonderful life is and not be bothered about a robotic existence. Don't let go of your 20s. It's the only time you'll truly live. —Varun Agarwal from QUORA. |
Mbataku96:When i first saw your topic, i thought you actually wanted to learn, but then someone pointed out something to me here, and i listened to him. The simple truth though is that you should be seeking for reasons to believe there is a God, not the other way round... because I am 100% certain your belief in God was as a result of indoctrination from when you were a child like most religious enthusiasts in this part of the world. From your comments here, obviously you are out to ridicule rather than to seek. The first rule of thumb when seeking for new knowledge is to keep an open mind, and forget about everything you think you know prior to the journey. From my experiences here on nairaland, one of your colleagues here called @southniyikaye when questioned thoroughly by me even categorically had to lie that one of the ways he confirmed God exists as a christian when he grew up was that God saved him from a snake... The other one called @shadeyinka simply employed a diversionary tactics, his way of avoiding simple questions...and when i decided to ask him specific questions, he had nothing to say and ran away. The other one @aadoiza wanted to make a joke of me, i also asked him simple questions... again he ran away... The other one called @elated77 or something was using lightning as his proof of God's existence, I simply told him he is just on nairaland to make a fôol of himself...he has been running around since then, raving like a lunatic and cursing me in the name of Yahweh... Only @shadeyinka is the christian here who never resorted to insult in our discuss when he had nothing else to say... something obviously rare among christians all the christians in this forum. It seems like insulting people comes naturally to them, especially when they no longer can defend the lie, they turn to insults. So, here are questions for you: 1) - Have you found God? - Have you seen God? - Have you heard from God before in your entire life? If yes, how. - Have you felt God before in your entire life? - If you have felt God, what exactly did you feel? 2) - How did you find God? - What did he look like when you saw him? - What did he sound like when you heard him? - How did you realise what you are feeling was God? - how did you know who you saw was God? - how did you know the voice you heard was that of God? 3) - In what ways does God manifest himself in your life? - What is the most visible thing that is a direct resultant of your meeting with God? I'm sure you don't need a Bible to answer the above questions seeing as you claim that you know God exists and you have a personal relationship with him and his son called Jesus Christ. If you cannot answer the above questions, it's better you quit deceiving and filling your brain with imaginary fantasies. Regards!!! |

gensteejay:I'm telling you o... And those exaggerations are the selling point of the religion. |
Maximus69:Please continue to allow your mom to eat grass...it's okay. |
gensteejay:Thanks bro... Well, i think most people misconstrue what atheism actually means. Atheism is just a concept that denotes a state of mind, and that state of mind is unbelief is something that no evidence supports as being real... it's a no brainer. However, as you have said, i think if you dig deeper, you will get to find out some of the things that led to the creation of the various myths which people subscribe to today in form of religion. Most were out of boredom, others were because some people wanted to feel more special, while others wanted to lord themselves over others especially if politics of the day didn't favour them. 200yrs from today, some people might turn Nnamdi Kanu to a religious figure and propose a kind of religion after him citing that he is a prophet and that God sent him to liberate the Igbo people. Some of his deeds with the current government may be reduced to writing and then use heavy propaganda to grow the following. Those people 200yrs from today won't know otherwise, will not understand otherwise because they never got to know who the dude was during his lifetime... His followers may propagate whatever suits their agenda, and a religion is born... That's how it is... none of those figures you stated existed in the way they're being attributed for sure. You just have to pick up Catholic books on Saints and how they lived their lives, including what made them saint's; you will at least realise this. |
LordReed:Well, they are always the ones that run away in the end when they have nothing else to say in the end. |
Its a good thing you are beginning to ask questions @Mbataku96 I will now refer you to the thread I'm currently running on this Nairaland... Please kindly visit the thread and take your time to read through it... You will then make your own decisions afterwards. "Life is a game of perspectives. If you have more number of perspectives, you’re able to analyze, gauge, critique situations, and moments much better." As a religious adherent, you are stripped of this ability, forcing you to think one dimensional in other to continue towing the Ignorance line because it serves the religion better. People will believe that Mary got pregnant in the bible without sèxual intercourse because Goddidit spiritually. But, will the same people accept the same pregnancy if it was their wife/daughter that told them in this generation that God made them pregnant when asked? Religious beliefs turn you from rational to silly within seconds in same exact situation. Here is another variation: We all saw the news of snake swallowing money in one of the Federal Government departments. However, how many of us believed it? Zero! Why, because we all know it's not possible for snake to swallow million's of naira, it defies logic. However, same people that believes the above scenario is impossible will instantly believe same thing if it is recorded in the bible. When Jonah was swallowed by the alleged fish, the bible recorded he stayed there for 3days, enjoying himself in the belly of a fish inside the ocean for 3 days...and you know the funny thing, the same people who don't believe in the money swallowing snake believe this story with their full heart. When you try to confront them about this disparity, they will think you are berating them, and making fun of their IQ. But, how does a mentally stable person believe that a man will live 3 day's in the belly of a fish big enough to swallow a man? This is literally the stuff insane delusion is made of. This makes my heart ache. Religion has turned my people to môron's and fôolish, because that's it's end game. But the difficulty is in helping this people realise just how dumb they're becoming each day. Each day on this forum, I keep seeing more dumb posts inspired by religious beliefs and i weep. How can our nation progress when people are more obsessed with their imaginary god's than with actually making the effort it takes to build a nation? It's a pity, a very big pity...But, we must do our duty. We cannot allow imaginary god's and their followers, who are the majority to continue to have their way, lest our country plunges into the abyss of no return. Freedom from religion is what we preach because religion promotes zombiesm, lack of reasoning. |
You don't need God to be nice to your fellow human beings. The simple rule of thumb is to not do to another what yourself will detest if done to you... it's as simple as that. - Before you steal from another, you already know that if the same act is done to you, you will not be happy. Hence, you will also love to protect what you stole so that another person doesn't steal it from you too. - Same thing applies to sleeping with anothers partner. You wouldn't like for someone else to sleep with yours. - Same thing applies to coveting another's gift. - etc. Morality is basic, and you don't need a God to know it or follow it. If someone needs a god to be a good/moral person, then that person must be a very evil person, because they're being good for a reason: to please their god/make his/her everlasting life. What this means simply is that without this god in your life, you will be immoral and vile. So as a religious person, the question you should be asking yourself is, do i have the capacity to be good without a god? Or I'm i as a religious person good because it is what is commanded in my religious book? Everyone was born free, and religious beliefs are acquired. The person who needs god to be a good person is just faking it for a reward===>heaven/paradise/whatever. Hence you hear things like " it's because of god...", "If not for God eeh, i will not...", "Just doing it for God, not you...", etc. Already, persons who use those types of sentences are immoral persons, because they have told you exactly why they're doing what they're doing...cuz of God. You can only then begin to imagine what they will do when this god is not in the picture. In all my interactions as a person, one of the few things that stops people from being good to others is still their belief in same god's. Because the moment you side with one god, you are forced to see others through the bias of your own religious beliefs and practices. Be careful of people being good to you because of God/god, they are not moral. Being good because of a god is immoral in itself. Regards!!! |
Maximus69:You are welcome. |
Maximus69:The fact is that stealing is bad, it doesn't matter who did/does it. It doesn't matter how it is disguised. As for your question @bolded, take a look around you. Despite the fact that Nigeria ganged up against Igbo's during the civil war, has it stopped Igbo people from living everywhere in Nigeria and trying to make ends meet? Has the stealing of our resources made black people stop visiting European countries or patronising their products/services? The answer is typical No. The only take away from it all is "Lesson learned." You learn how to make sure noone steals from you again. If you are planning on revenge for an act done to you 300yrs ago, then of course everyone will confirm that you are vengeance sociopath...as they say about vengeance, dig two graves before you embark on such mission! Always know the meaning of words before you use it so that you don't speak from an ignorant perspective: racism /ˈreɪsɪz(ə)m/ noun prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. |
Maximus69:@bolded, you refer to my comments in the wrong manner, which in turn makes your understanding of same comments skewed from the beginning. Saying that some white people left their homeland to come here and steal our resources is fact. It has nothing to do with racism and politics. It is something that happened and well documented, so i don't know why you would even start thinking it is racist. Then again, it goes to show how poor your understanding of things are. Secondly, millions of non-believers in the world have shown that we don't need god to be who you are... You even said children are not born with bias, then you again said they were born with: - "WISDOM JUSTICE POWER and LOVE" This are exactly the concepts that create bias. Your bible has explicitly shown that Yahweh is full on high with the highest form of bigotry and prejudice. Yahweh is erratic, biased, nepotic and grandmaster of favouritism. It's not surprising though that his followers will subscribe to the same traits. However, all those who don't subscribe to religious doctrines regain their lost self, and start being humans...which means recognising that humans come first while subscribing to god's means the subscribers start exhibiting the traits of their god in no distance time. History has shown time and again what humans do with the religious beliefs they subscribe to. |

onlyinJESUS:Please explain? |
The bible was written by men at a time when women weren't seen to be equal with men... that's putting it casually anyway. Just a few cases of women in power in history...most of them, through the men too. Women of this days can't even begin to imagine the suffering our ancestors(women) suffered to grant them the freedom they enjoy today. |
stabilizer:You are a deceitful blogger/journalist... Why not put out the news exactly as you saw it than parlaying to mischief headlines and rewritten news body? |
Why is Warner Bros still dishing out 2D animation movies? With the way they have perfected 2D Animation films, one will think the logical progression will be 3D next at least, but they reserved that for their games alone. Can it be cost or something? |
Maximus69:Good for you... leave your mom to be eating grass okay... It's a wonderful experience and good sight to behold. |
