HealthRe: Why Do Most Nigerian Men Develop A Pot Belly Stomach So Early? by ianSweet(op): 8:45pm On Oct 19, 2016
BeeBeeOoh:
That's carelessness & laziness on the men's part, because as a man when your stomach starts protruding you ought to know that your body is getting outta shape but, instead of hitting the gym nor exercise regularly they we will resort to hit more bottles of beer & plates of isi ewu or ugba at beer palour. As a man, I can't tell my wife to look like Beyonce nor Genevieve for me while I look like her father nor carry 6months undeliverable pregnancy about. it's uncalled for. As a matter of fact, I don't joke with exercise at all, whenever I wake up in the morning I do my 100 press-ups(count down), 50 push-ups & 50 sit-ups and whenever I look at the mirror I love who I see there.

I promised myself that I can't watch beer impregnate me or other wise.
100 press ups? shocked dats cool. U must be superfit. I wish i could do so much. Am really tripping. kiss

Really? Shuu! So a super rich dude will be turned down for a super fit dude? U can lie o! Are u related to Lai Mohammed?
Plzzzz, not all of us are gold diggers. Not all ladies believe in a man's wealth. What happened to my own brain and hands?
I cannot marry a rich man with a pot belly. Are there no rich men who are physically fit? Why should i settle for less when i myself go on so much dieting to stay fit?
Physically fit men will also perform their 'manly duty' (u know what i mean) better. So why marry a rich man who cannot satisfy u?

See what i mean. U made mention of married men ordering their wives to pound yam for them to eat at night ba?
Which kind of woman will be serving her husband swallow food at night before bed? Pounded yam for that matter. Only an illiterate or ignorant wife who has no sense of proper nutrition and diet will do such.
For me i think improper meals lead to pot belly stomachs more than beer or lack of going 2d gym (i may be wrong though)
And what if the lazy man insists that he must eat pounded yam or swallow every night? You know how some men can take littlr issues like this to the extreme.
You cannot force someone to stay fit my sister.
I also think i will disagree with u, i believe that no matter the drink you take or improper diet, if you work out extremely hard, it can supplement for all these.
There is no way a man that hits the gym regularly can develop a pot belly even though he drinks a lot or does not have a proper diet.

But seriously this thing is really annoying. I think we the ladies might share some blame in this because we do not encourage or chastise them on these things. We act like it doesn't matter and before you know it, your hubby has developed a 'pregnancy', a baby he will never deliver.

HealthWhy Do Most Nigerian Men Develop A Pot Belly Stomach So Early? by ianSweet(op): 7:04pm On Oct 19, 2016
Yes, many Nigerian women develop a pot belly stomach too as soon as they start getting pregnant and giving birth. A good reason for that.

What i don't really understand is why you find many Nigerian men with protruding stomachs, the most annoying part is seeing young men who are just in their thirties and some not even yet married with such protruding bellies. Do you guys get pregnant and deliver babies too? I mean how hard is it to go to the gym regularly and ensure you keep fit?
Some stark lazy ones, once they just get married, they start ordering their wives to pound yam for them every night, eating and boozing carelessly without control.

I am not excusing our women on this too, all am saying is that women have good reasons why they loose their shape after marriage, but men have no goddamn excuse.

All the Edo speaking towns have been systematically demarcated into Edo state. Infact Ondo lost Sobe to Edo state because the town spoke an Edo-ish language, while Edo lost Imeri to Ondo for being a Yoruba speaking town. As it stands today if more demarcation was to be done on language basis, Edo state will be the one to lose more settlements to Ondo and not the other way round.
As for Ikales and Ilajes what else are they if not Yoruba? that you met one or two of them saying they are not does not mean anything. Moreso, they might have said that in an environment where the anti Yoruba sentiments are very high to protect themselves.
Their towns are Ayetoro, Mahin, Igbokoda, Atijere, Shabomi, Obe Nla, Olotu, Idogun, Ugbo Nla, Oroto, Alagbon etc. All Yoruba. Infact the Ikales and Ilajes are the people the ijaws of Ondo are mixed with linguistically and culturally, that makes them not fully Ijaw.
U are right, but there are still some edo speaking towns left in Akoko LGAs. Find out, i have met people from these places, they even answer Edo names, just that i have forgotten the name of the towns.
What abt the itsekiri communities that were carved into Ondo state?

Hahaha, an escape route for dumbness.
Well i decline to argue further. But it all remains that Abuja is the fastest growing city and urban area in Africa and among the fastest in the world, ahead of Lagos.
Within few decades from now, it will catch up with Lagos and eventually become the largest urban area in Africa and tax from Lagos state will still be continually used in developing Abuja and very soon neigbouring Nasarawa and Niger states.
Kano is a precolonial city. Ibadan has been a capital since pre independent times. Lagos has been a city for up to 100 years. Abuja is just about 20 years old and it is now dragging for 2nd largest urban area. Only God knows what another 20years of development will turn it to.
God bless Babangida for taking away capitalship from Lagos to Central Nigeria my sweet middlebelt region.
At least no omonile, owomida or agberos in Abuja to harass citizens. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Answer the questions and stop introducing extraneous "facts"

What is the population of Abuja can you provide a figure.
What is the source of the last picture you posted. Link please

At 5827846 registered voters ,Lagos state had the highest number of voters in the country,Kaduna had 3.3 million. I can see that your style is to just make wild and unsubstantiated assertions without bothering about their veracity.Truth is clearly an irrelevant inconvenience.
Most people who vote in Abuja are indigenes you claim. how do you know? Abuja had 0ver 800 000 registered voters in the last election you say MOST are indigenes for you to know that you must have evidence. By most do you mean 51% or 99% and crucially HOW DO YOU KNOW?
I was part of the Inec body who conducted the last elections in FCT, so i can tell u that.

Yes, Lagos had the highest numb of registered voters, but how many people came out to vote? About 1.3 million. Kano had more accredited voters than Lagos. Likewise Kaduna. So that is my point.

By the way what is the source of your post above. Does it not have a sourcehuh
. I have provided already THREE DIFFERENT SOURCES of Nigeria's largest cities by population.None of them rank Abuja second. NOT ONE.

The fact is of course there are variations with source based on their reference points but in no way is Abuja a bigger metropolis than Kano.

The logic of spillover and "unofficial" metropolis that you apply to Abuja applies likewise everywhere.

Population wise Abuja is NEVER our second city. How many people voted in Abuja during the last elections?
U are quoting 2006 census sources and u call it a source? For judging 2016? U can see from all records that Abuja remains the fastest growing urban area in Africa and among the fastest in the world, so i wonder how u will expect 2006 and 2016 population estimate to be any close.

The difference between Kano and Abuja urban explosion is that Kano's development is still within the same state but Abuja is rapidly spilling into Nasarawa and Niger states just like Lagos spilling into Ogun.

Read this link below, this is just one single satelite area of Abuja (Karu), and the population is already estimated at over 2million people. The reason why this does not reflect in Abuja urban population is because half of this Karu urban area is under Nasarawa state.

Talking about elections, many people go back to their states to register and vote. Why does Kano always have higher votes than Lagos? Even Kaduna is always higher than Lagos in elections. Does that mean Kaduna and Kano have more population than Lagos?
Places like Lagos and Abuja are artificial cities in a sense because the non indigenes always outnumber the indigenes there by a wide margin.
Most people who vote in FCT are the indigenes, this is why u see that the indigenes still produce the senators there even though contestants from settling groups are more than them.

U are right but that doesn't make the state any less a Yoruba state. The primary ethnic group is Yoruba. History taught us non-yoruba in came after Afonja allowed them.Do a statistics of d ethnic groups see which has a higher percentage.
What do u mean a yoruba state? Do u know that north-western states like Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa cannot be called hausa states? because there are other tribes there, you can only say the state is predominantly of a particular tribe or a multi-ethnic state.
Yorubas may be dominant in Kwara but they are not even up to 2/3 of the state's population, they are just slightly more than half.
And pls u will be very wrong to say Bariba, Busa and Nupes are settlers in Kwara state, they dominate the entire parts of Kwara north and parts of Ilorin, their landmass is even larger or equal to the yoruba land areas in the state. The yroubas just have a slightly larger population and greater language influence.
The deputy governor of Kwara is always from the other tribes. Mohammed Shaba Lafiagi a nupe man was once governor of Kwara state. Only Nupes and Baribas produce senatorship of Kwara north because there are no yorubas in Kwara north.

You are wrong, the ijaws in Ondo are not settlers. There are many Edo speaking communities in Akoko parts of Ondo state who speak Edoid languages and answer Edo names. Are they also settlers too? Ondo is a multi ethnic state.
Besides, some tribes like Ilaje and Ikale in the state reject to be identified as yorubas. I have met some ilajes and ask them if they are yoruba, they told me NO, that they are not yoruba but Ilaje.

What a ridiculous thing to say are you including the parts of
Aba that has spilled into Port Harcourt or the parts of Warri that has spilled into the ocean or of Kaduna that spilled into the desert in your comparison
I gave you valid reasons and you are just typing nonsense here.
For instance, Kaduna city was designed to be Kaduna north and south LGAs but so much development of Kaduna has spilled into Chikun LGA, are we now going to say Chikun is no longer part of Kaduna urban area?
Many people know Warri city but dont know that half of warri urban area is not even in Warri LGAs, it has developed into other LGAs in another senatorial district.

Abuja is an artificial location, it was carved out of Niger and Nasarawa states. Most indigenes of FCT can apply for Niger, Nasarawa or even Kaduna state indigeneship and they will get it because these were their former states before FCT was created and the people share a common cultural boundary.
But even without adding Abuja urban areas in Niger and Nasarawa, Abuja in FCT will still go for the largest urban area in Nigeria after Lagos. There is still so much Land in FCT for Abuja to develop into e.g Kwali and Abaji LGAs which are still rural and very empty.

Port Harcourt as you can see isn't part of the Eastern states we all know. If the Yorubas in Kogi decide to go with Arewa, I wouldn't be surprised too. I think that's where your argument is valid.
Well, somehow yes, but it's not really about the geo-political influence. Take Taraba state for instance, Taraba is classified in the North-east but most Taraba people identify with the middlebelt region and identity. If not that the middlebelt regional identity is not strong enough, u will see that many parts of the northwest and north-east feel more attached to the North-central culturally.
Even among we the north-centrals, many of us choose to identify with the south than with Arewa or Hausa-fulani tag.
Talking about Port harcourt, what about Asaba? Asaba is in Delta state but they identify themselves as Igbos. Infact unlike Port harcourt which was formerly in the eastern region and under Igbo control, Asaba was never under the eastern region under Igbos, but still they identify more with the igbos.
Identity/Alliance in Nigeria, even though it was somehow defined by our colonial masters, but the indigenes of a particular place has the right to redefine it.

What abt ph? The issue is lagos has always bin a commercial city and no one can claim he built it to be a commercial city not even the govt. I have heard stories of those old grandpas and grandmas travelling to lagos by foot for various commercial activities. As a matter of fact lagos is a state and get state allocations just like every other states so what's stopping other places to develop like lagos if they want to.
Talking about ancient commercial cities, can you compare Lagos to Kano? Kano was even recorded by the whites to be a bustling pre-colonial commercial city. The Europeans met Kano as an international trading destination when they came to Nigeria.
Kano was a route for west africans travelling to Mecca for pilgrimages and people from northern parts of Africa, Arabs, Berbers, Sudanese and others came to Kano to trade, this is why Kano's slogan has always remained 'Centre of commerce', but you can see that Kano is still no match for Lagos because Lagos had a greater federal presence.
Kano almost has no federal presence at all. It was solely developed by trade and monthly allocation. Where you have Federal presence in the north is Kaduna and what you have in Kaduna is not up to half of Lagos but see how developed Kaduna is, now imagine Kaduna having as much development as Lagos and merging it with Kano, what do u think you will get?

Yes they very much are. Unless you do not include the parts of Abuja that has spilled into Niger and Nasarawa states because Abuja has massively developed into neighbouring Niger and Nasarawa states. The current population estimate for Abuja urban areas within FCT alone is about 4 million people, by the time you add the parts of Niger and Nasarawa, it's now higher.

The one that makes me laugh is when an igbo person asks if a Yoruba person is from Lagos, that why is he/she claiming Lagos. They forget that this is not about state created by some people, but about the Yoruba race itself. It's like asking why an Imo person is claiming Enugu. They are both of igbo land! When the igbos put up questions like this, it irks me.
I am not an igbo neither am i even from the south, but the truth is that the Nigerian constitution and administration does not recognize tribal boundaries. There is nothing like yoruba land, Hausa land, Fulani land or Ijaw land in the administrative definition of the Federal republic of Nigeria. Ethnic identities and Ethnic loyalities are personally defined based on interests.
Neither our states nor our geopolitical zones were carved tribally.
The people of Kwara state for instance even though they are predominantly yoruba, they can decide to claim that they want to answer Hausa or Arewa identity and no idiot has any right to stop them, on the other hand Ondo people can decide that they want to form a common identity and alliance with Edo people and reject yoruba identity and nobody can stop them.
See Port harcourt, in the past it used to be identified as an igbo city, but the indigenes of the city choose to denounce igbo identity.
The Nigerian constitution only recognises the local, state and federal governments, there are no tribal governments or ethnic boundaries recognized, as such there is nothing like Yoruba land recognized. This is why the Federal and state governments are superior to traditional rulers.

Abuja was not created to be a commercial zone or centre, it was created for Administration. If the FG wanted to commercialize the city, they know how to do it.
