omonnakoda:This happens because the yorubas in Lagos are united. If the other tribes in Lagos state unite and say they want to produce any political position in the state, they will and nothing anybody can do. Afterall the igbos themselves elected house of reps member there in Lagos. Are u aware that yorubas and Igbos contest senatorship in FCT? But since the Gbagyi indigenes in FCT are united, they still manage to elect their own. |
dreams77:Pls remove Kwara from that your list. Kwara is not part of the SouthWest, it belongs to the middlebelt and full of many tribes whose allegiance and existence is tied to Sokoto caliphate. |
shigothang:Oga, Nigerian constitution does not recognise tribal boundaries as a part of government functioning. As long as the constitution and government administration is concerned, there is nothing like yoruba land. Someone from Ekiti or Oyo is equally a settler in Lagos just as someone from Bauchi, Anambra, Katsina or Kwara is. Your failure to comprehend this is a representation of your stark ignorance and myopic mindset. |
comshots:Well, don't u think u may be wrong? Some people just wear it for fashion |
Nose rings are becoming quite common especially among entertainers and the funniest thing is that even guys are now joinning the trend. Can u yourself rock a nose ring? If you can't, can you date/marry someone who does?
|
SalomonKane:Whether u chauvinists like it or not, gender equality must come to stay in Africa, it's just a matter of time. |
lezznjr:But today, these Swiss and Greek counterparts have a more equal and progressive society than Nigeria. It's not a matter of who laughs first but who laughs last and who laughs better. And talking about confusion, who is more confused between them and us? Talking about lesbianism, what about other sexual practices like giving heads, blowjobs, anals, threeesomes e.t.c, did u learn these things from your fore-fathers? Hypocrisy of u African men is the reason why our continuent remain backwards, u guys should get a life. Gender equality must come and stay in Nigeria for good. |
Oh my, am crying already |
Young03:People like you are the reason why Africa will never progress. All these Nigerian men against gender equality should be ashamed of themselves, that is why we remain backwards as a nation. We have to learn from the civilized nations if we ever want to be developed like them. |
SalomonKane:This is usually the excuse that you chauvinistic men always use an excuse against women's right. What does a man go through that is more than the pains of labour? Anybody can go through anything gener irrespective. |
youngberry001:Why is my comment paining u na, are u a nupe man? |
sumborri:Taking his wife's advice would spell weakness? Male ego my foot. This is why Africa is backward. Why can't u African men use your useless male ego to develop the continent? |
This man juju strong sha. No doubt sha, he is a Nupe man. |
excess4luv: nelsonjj: Naughtysite: PerfectEsquire:See you guys, you people are just a bunch of ignorant lots and you people think all other Nigerians are cheap like you people who can sell your loved ones for money. Most of you have never lived or interracted with northern christians, if not you would know that these people are not capable of the kind of things you are accusing them of. Northern christians are the most unmaterialistic people in Nigeria. There is no amount of money you can give to most of them in order to buy their conscience like you people are accusing them of. These northern christians are the victims here and instead of you foolish southernerns to show them sympathy, u are claiming that they are a scam. This is why christians in Nigeria can never be united and we shall continue to be dominated by muslims. You southernerns make me sick. Fooools. |
Moreoffaith:Why must you talk like an ignorant person? These people are christians and not muslims. Northern christians go to school very well almost as equal as the south. Go to northern christian areas like Kaduna, Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe and u will see that it is very difficult to find their christian indigenes who are of school age that arr not in school. Dont sit down and conclude things about the north from your village in Anambra state. Chibok is a christian dominated LGA in Borno state. |
Why should she? |
KingOvoramwen1: KingOvoramwen1:Thanks for the compliments. |
Onijagidijagan:Yes u can. If Bini people are speaking, an Esan person can pick up many words but he may not understand everything, likewise an Afemai can pick up Esan words. Even among the Afemais they all dont understand each other, Owan people do not understand Etsako completely, but they can pick some words if they listen well, even within the Etsako people they dont speak the same thing, Auchi people will not understand many things from what Agenebode and Okpella speak. Even Agenebode and Okpella in the same Etsako east LGA have very strong differences and do not understand each other and they may even speak English with each other. I schooled in Edo state, the problem is that Edo people never had a central unifying dialect or lingua franca like the Yoruba speakers had Oyo dialect as the unifying dialect. This is the weakness of Edo, but there are so much similarities in their words even down to the Urhobos, Isokos, Itsekiris, Ikas and Ndokwas of Delta state, they have similar words as Edo descendants. |
Efikoroy:Now to answer your second question. I think the Benin kingdom was better documented by the Europeans than Oyo kingdom because Benin kingdom was closer to the coastal areas than Oyo kingdom which was further in the hinterlands. There is a kingdom called KWARARAFA in Taraba state and this kingdom was one of the greastest in West Africa and arguably among the greatest in Nigeria, but this kingdom did not receive much recognition by the Europeans due to it's location which was deep down in the rough topography of the middlebelt region, to know the greatness of the Kwararafa kingdom, most tribes from Benue, Kogi, Taraba, Nasarawa, Niger, Adamawa, Platean and Cross river states claim to originate from this kingdom, of which i am one. Do u know that many Edo traditions actually came from the white men? Not just Edo alone, many Niger deltans including ur own Efik people incorporated white cultural attires into your own cultural attires, e.g the Bowlers hat of Ijaws and Deltans, the white robes of Benin chiefs from European Reverend fathers e.t.c. So the Europeans had a greater contact with the coastal people than those of the hinter lands hence Edo getting better recognition than Oyo. |
KingOvoramwen1:U seem to be angered and u are commenting unnecesarily. That is not an intelligent way to answer this question. You started this thread well by enlightening us only for you to start this. Efikoroy:Now to answer your question. Edo may not be as populated as Yoruba because the Oyo empire conquered more people and territory than the Benin empire did and the Oyo people forced their language down on all their subjects and this is how the Oyo dialect of yoruba united all the other yoruba subgroups in Nigeria. Benin on the other hand used to believe that their language and cultures were sacred and superior and should never be spoken by their subjects and this was the greatest mistake the bini kingdom made, they never enforced their language on their subjects. Almost the whole of Edo state are descendants of Bini Kingdom, majority of Delta state ethnic groups also look up to Benin as their origin, many parts of Ondo and Rivers also look up to Edo as their origin, even Lagos too. Even the Onitsha people of Anambra state claim to have come from Benin and all these groups continued to pay their homage to Benin kingdom, many up to today. Imagine if all these Benin descendants had retained their original language or a form of Edo which served as a lingua franca just as Oyo serve as a lingua franca among all yorubas, they would have been identified and classified as one ethnic group by the colonial masters and would have been probably over 20 million people in 5 different states now. |
Onijagidijagan:When Ekiti people or Ikale people are talking Oshogbo or Ibadan people cannot understand. |
Am speechless |
Ok |
KillerBeauty:You have said the truth sis. I am not in anyway encouraging women to think inferiorly or depend on a man for survival but these so called African men as u say cannot withstand or cope with an independent minded woman. |
Splendid, am happy for her. May God deliver the hausa-fulani masses and their backward ways of reasoning. |
Gosh, his sons are damn hot and handsome. |
Clinton9000:LoL, yoruba muslims are classless |
Ok |
divinelove:No, u are the disaster that has happened. So u support Buhari who disgraced himself and all Nigerians internationally? Even a neanderthal or homo erectus from the stone age will not make a comment like Buhari did, which age do u yourself belong to? Better go back to the pre- stone age where your likes belong. |
Buhari is the worst thing to ever happen to the black race. |
nwakibie3:LOL, go the other room but no touch madam o, women are not smiling tonight o ............ ![]() |
Chubhie:LoL, no be small thing o |
