His competitor got Zlatan the best player in French league, Got Mikitaryan the best player in Bundesliga, Got Pogba the best player in Italian league and top 10 player in the world, Add a 75M striker, add 40M Matic add a 40M Lindelof add 30M Bailly
Take Mourinho talks to Manure thread. If you ask me, All this is just to catch up to Debruyne, Silva, Aguero and Sterling that Pep met in City. Martial is the only player of that calibre Mourinho met. . . but if you want to talk real work, talk about Conte who trounced Pep silly with less resources until the sheikhs shifted odds too much in his favour.

How much would Alexis be signed for compared to Morata? What he loses in transfer fee, he gains in wages. None of Ctys striker even if they buy Alexis will have a transfer fee greater than Batsuayi
Every club has salary structure. Pep does not work with such. If you pay Alexis £350k for example, you have to up Hazard, Kante and half the team to a commensurate amount that will cost hundreds of millions over the length of their contracts. This is why all fingers are not equal. The sheikhs are burning money on Pep.

The same club that cut other clubs fingers and added it to their 6foot fingers
Don't divert the argument to be about Chelsea, it's about odds being in Peps favour compared to competitors. His competitor will be begging upandan just to get Ross Barkley, Drinkwater or Zappacosta, Pep will tell his boss just get Sanchez without worrying about numbers.

In the last 3 windows Chelsea has spent $100M on their number 9 position alone for both Morata and Batsuayi.
Felipe Luis the starting Atletico left back that became a squad player was a decade ago.
David Luis that was bought for 40M and thrown on the bench now was also a decade ago
It was also a decade ago that Chelsea got bored and decided to buy Kante the PFA player of the year

Or was it a decade ag that Cortouis one of the top 5 keepers in the world was deputizing for Cech another top 5 keeper in the world?
Which of these players earn 1/2 of Sanchez salary?

These are all regular players and they were all replacements for players we sold for equal amounts. The amount we make from selling is what we use to buy eg sold Costa for 58m and bought Morata for same amount.

You got so desperate you named Courtois our young player who we sent on loan.

None of these players are franchise players or earn 1/2 if what Sanchez is looking for.

Sanchez meanwhile is one of the 3 best players in the league.

Take City attack of Aguero, Jesus and Sanchez for example. All 3 are better than our 1st choice Morata. That is, even the substitute of their substitute is better than our 1st choice.

We cannot afford to get players asking for £400k per week when our top boy is on £200k, and the 2nd top boy is on £150k.

All fingers are not equal.

Which Chelsea was it then that signed Shevchenko a balon dor and made him a squad player or signed Ballack captain of Bayern like its nothing to join Essien Lampard Makelele in midfield.

Or was it not Chelsea that signed Maniche just because Essien had a game suspension in the CL

Or which Chelsea will sign Felipe Luis athletico main left back as a backup full back or which Chelsea will have Cech and still have Cortouis or which team will have Rudiger Batsuayi Drinkwater all 30 to 40m players just to keep the bench warm or just drop 40m on David Luiz and bench him a season later.

One hearing you talk will think its some club that's rubbing pennies together not a club who dropped 60m on Morata and have a 30m as his backup
See, we are talking of Alexis Sanchez, you are busy talking about Batsuayi and Drinkwater.

Your only relevant examples are from a decade ago, and they were even Abramovic signings.

When Morata is injured, Conte will be asked to make hay with Batsuayi. When Jesus is injured, Pep will say even Aguero is not enough, he wants Sanchez ontop.

Do you realise Chelsea fans will not even dream of signing Sanchez? When Hazard is on £200k and Sanchez asks for £400k. But Pep will buy Sanchez like it's nothing just to put on City bench.

All fingers are not equal.

What odds in his favor?
Odds like the blasê signing of Alexis Sanchez like it's nothing, just cos his Brazil no9 is injured for a couple months.

This is a type of franchise player Chelsea can only hope to sign every 5 or 10 years that would ask for double the salary of our franchise player. . . . while Pep just wake up from sleep, yawn and make Alexis a mere squad player for City

raumdeuter:
That means Guardiola has to get Alexis this window. Aguero is a weak link that can't you can't depend on

His excuse is about finance. Pep has spent more than him by 74.8 million pounds. That money in the hands of Mourinho will get maybe a Van Dijk and still the problem is not solved. He can spend all he wants, but if he doesn't find a way to make his signings work, it'll be a waste of money.
That may be true but Pep met KDB, Silva, Aguero and Sterling on ground.

Who did Mourinho meet on ground in that class bracket? Martial arguably.

So just catching up to some of the players Pep met on ground alone will take severe investment.

Not holding brief for JM cos he thought he only needed 4 signings but that is the fact you are not considering.

Herrera has a few loose screws, carrick was offered a free one year extension to come stay on the hospital bed, Fellaini is injured and mctominwa isn't all that.

Matic and Pogba are our only 2 Sane midfield choices right now
True, he needs a 2nd Pogba, another B2B because all I'm seeing right now is no triangle for the midfield to build up play with. For Matic or Pogba to find Mata these days, they have to launch a 40 yard pass upfield. No cohesion at all between the 2 halves of the team.

bro you really have valid points but I disagree with your last paragraph.. mou used the formation to succed at inter and also at Madrid..using an effective no 10 in that same setup,I personally think that ozil revolutionised the modern day no 10,that's y I don't think there can ever b a better no 10 in that 4231 like ozil,at least for the time being...

now all these balls down to personnel being available,to properly utilise d 4231 position, your no 10 has to have that positional and spatial awareness, intelligent movement and of course good pass accuracy and decision making..nd ozil ticked all those boxes, that's y mou never really bothered him to track back cos he knew his potency in attack...but in the end I think that's what confused mou, thinking every other no 10 can b like ozil..

and yes I agree with your final point about him needing to switch to a 433
Good point, but Sneijder was never a no 10 in the sense of Ozil and Mata. He was one of a 3 man midfield, robust enough to get involved in the heart of midfield.

It was Ozil experience at RM that changed JM, and he seems to have lost his tactical ethos since then. The fact teams sat back for fear of Ronaldo allowing Real midfield to come closer to each other in the attack is not proof that he can make the 4-2-3-1 work efficiently.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Ibime(m): 10:45am On Dec 31, 2017
From what I saw yesterday, Utd team is split into 2 parts.

In the 4-2-3-1, the distance between the 4-2 and the 3-1 is too great, and there is no cohesion between those 2 halves of the team. It is everything I hate about 4-2-3-1, and we saw these chasms between attack and defence when Jose implemented this system at Chelsea. The team did not move as one unit.

It was basically get the ball to the front 4, they lose it, and then the back 6 are being counterattacked. And repeat cycle.

The whole team needs to move 10 yards further up the pitch to establish proper build-up between the back 6 and the front 4. Fullbacks should be allowed to join the attack, likewise the top 4 need to get involved in the build-up play. It is a feature of a Juan Mata midfield to see this big chasm of space between the 2 base midfielders and the AM. We had that at Chelsea for years. That's a tactical instability that comes with Juan Mata. He should be able to join the midfield 3 and involve himself in build-up play that will allow the rest of the team move 10 yards up the pitch. This is why I prefer 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1.

Mourinho has never mastered the 4-2-3-1 formation, and I don't see why he is insistent on playing it instead of the 4-3-3 that brought him the most success.

He has a 19 goal season under His belt already which is greater than all but 5 of Frank's season. He'll surpass Lamps Best of 27 goals in the next 2 years.

Also Let's be honest here bar Lamps, You've not had a player that has performed as consistently as Hazard has over the last 15-20 years(Attack wise). He is the most creative player you've had since Zola.
Interesting. I had Lampards 03/04 as a 20 goal season but the record books tell me 19. Look at the graphic below Sir to see the goals from 03/04 onward. All those seasons in his prime also came with 12 to 20 assists each. Not like Hazard where when he scored 19, his assist dropped to 6. Even when Lampard met Hazard in Chelsea, he still outproduced him from the DM position. Those last 3 seasons are from DM position.

If we limit comparison to what they did at Chelsea only, then Hazard is 2nd only to Lampard. If you consider their full career, then I add Ballack, Robben and Makelele to the list. I rate Hazard over Zola though, except 1996/97 season when Zola was on fire. Hazard knocked Zola out of my all-time Chelsea 11 in the last couple of years.

Oh Wow.

We are now back to the the defensive formation excuse for hazard. its like a cycle that we have to listen to over and over again.

When we won the league under conte and he was free off defensive duties and he performed well enough to score 16 league goals we all enjoyed it with the same defensive minded players but its a issue this season?

We have alternated between 343 and 352 this season and people still think there is a huge difference when its just one of the attackers tucking in midfield when we don't have the ball and 2 midfielders doing box to box duties supporting attach and defence.

They want us to believe it is laborious playing in a front 2 but want Morata to score every chance he gets while hazard can go 5 games without goals and assist. Ori gbogbo yin ti yi danu.
Hazard needs to step up simple. Alexis Sanchez who is supposed to be having a bad season has produced more than him.
