hensben:Mikel had no problem technically, infact his ball control was excellent. His main problem was speed of his passes were too slow, his pressing was lacklustre, and his tendency to escort players running through on our goal. Bakayoko is more like Ramires with size. |
Look at this Bakayoko today. Passing atrocious. First goal, look at his passing to dash Spain the penalty. Second time he got the ball in 5 yards of space, he took 2 seconds to trap and turn with the berth of a trailer. He was dispossessed, Umtiti picked up the pieces and tried to run through and was dispossessed leading to 2nd goal. 2 touches of the ball later, Bakayoko received the ball on the left side of midfield, again took 2 seconds to trap and turn and play a lousy pass that the opposition nearly got to first. It was a routine ball that you expect the average midfielder to trap, turn and pass in 1 second with no danger whatsoever, yet he nearly turned it into a drama with his clumsiness. Basically, this is a guy not to be trusted with the ball with anyone within 5 yards of him or he might lose it on the half turn. He makes only 40 passes per game for Monaco, almost all of them by dropping to receive from the centre backs with no one within 20 yards of him. In other words, all 40 passes are in comfortable positions but as soon as he steps up 10 yards further up the pitch, he gets dispossessed easily. A midfielder receiving the ball from centre backs within 30 yards of his goal should be making 60-70 passes if you combine those centre backs passes with regular midfield passes. This is a ninja who makes very few passes in the thick of the midfield action because he knows he lacks the technique not to lose the ball there. Davidgenius abi GeniusDavid please mind your hyperbole and stop feeding us false info comparing this clown to Yaya. Chelsea is not Monaco. We play with calm midfield control, not ping-pong midfield like Monaco where they lose the ball every 5 seconds then win it back with jambody. This guy can't control his bladder, much less a midfield. |
GeniusDavid:I don't want to start another Matic debate but I don't know what you're watching. If Matic on the ball is torture, Bakayoko is suicide. If you don't know, Matic is the one who comes to receive the ball in Chelsea midfield. His passing has always been good, his receiving and protection of the ball also. Passing is recognised as his strength, within the midfield of course, not meaning he has the throughball vision. Bakayoko on the other hand is a fücking carcrash to watch on the ball that doesn't know the first basic of midfield ball control. A nigga who routinely gets dispossessed on the turn after receiving the ball.
|
GeniusDavid:Conte can't improve a player who takes 1.5 seconds to trap the ball and turn. He is only an improvement on Matic physically, technically they are not mates. Our midfield will not have anyone that 'comes to the ball' if Kante and Bakayoko were to be the partnership. You always need the man that comes to the ball, assuming Kante will always seek to go the other way. Bakayoko is utterly incapable of coming to the ball or keeping the midfield flowing. I suggest we look for another person, or go with Chalobah. This dude doesn't cut it at all for me.
|
GeniusDavid:Mehn I've watched 3 games so far. My main problem is his clumsiness ie speed of turning when receiving a pass. I want to put it down to nerves of only his 2nd game for France but having followed up with his YouTube videos, this guy no be am at all. You can't be taking 1.5 seconds to trap the ball and turn when fellow midfielders are taking 0.5 seconds. This guy cannot receive the ball in any tight area of midfield because of how ponderous his "trap and turn" is. It hurts my eyes mehn. I dey very disappointed say you call this guy name with a technically refined dude like Yaya Toure. You should have said Salif Diao or Justice Christopher. No, no, no, this guy is poor. Chalobah is 10 times better than him technically. He made Kante look as technically accomplished as Fabregas today even though Kante had an average game. |
SeekinAttention:Lemme add this to my lexicon. Pius Eunuch Iniesther. |
bykebyke:Airmark is coming for you. . . grabs popcorn. . . |
raumdeuter:Oboy wetin you think of Bakayoko. This guy is RUBBBISH with capital R. We have to avoid this guy at all cost. Kondogbia is better on the ball than this clown. |
raumdeuter:Not feeling it at all. It done turn to Rugby. Na France match you dey watch? |
Mehn this Bakayoko is atrocious on the ball. Next time he gets the ball he can't even trap it, turn and pass. He loses the ball scandalously in midfield and Spain score on counter. That's two goals Bakayoko has caused with atrocious passing and technique. I don't want this guy at Chelsea at all. |
Where is that guy that told me Bakayoko can pass a ball. This guy can't pass anything. See as he just gave backpass to Spain striker in his own box and caused the penalty. |
bigkesh:None of those names are attainable except Van Dijk and Lukaku. DiMarzio is an alarmist. |
Nihilist:RLC is a player we have to treat with caution because of his undeniable technique. You could write him off at Chelsea because of his attitude, he goes to another club, gets his attitude right and easily becomes a £100m player. Then we will start gnashing our teeth. I say tie him to a long contract and send him on loan. The day he sorts out his professionalism, he will be something else. |
Funlordjnr:If Pogba is £110m, Hazard should be £200m. Cost of replacement is what we are looking at. If small boys like Bakayoko are going for £38m, what would a replacement of similar skillet to Hazard cost? |
The penny seems to be dropping with RLC. I always see him working hard in the gym these days on Chelsea Instagram pics. |
Looks like Madrid are deadly serious about Hazard this summer. £100m being quoted is too small though. |
Fayose always inspecting nonsense. This man can inspect the construction of ordinary 100m one-way road. |
airmark:Kids in Nigeria play 3v2, 2v1, Fool etc. I'm disappointed in you though. You supposed to teach us some things about pro football, you started telling us all the games we already played as kids in Nigeria. What's next "dribble and score"? How about the one we call 'American football' that one where if someone opio ie nutmeg you, everybody is allowed to slap shege out of you until you run and touch a tree. That's the best drill for teaching players how to keep their legs closed. Did they teach you that one in professional football as well? |
airmark:Shut it mate. You told us that a coach can show a player how to make a slide tackle like Boateng did on Messi. We asked you how and you went and brought a video of a coach showing kids how to slide on their arse. We asked you to come again and you started talking about piggy in the middle. airmark:There is no professional player that needs a long jump coach to show them how to slide on their arse. If you have not worked out the physics of your own body by then, it is not old men like Ancelotti and SAF that will come and break their knees showing you how to jump like long jump coach. Coach does not show professional footballer how to control the flight of his own body, coaches only job is to keep the professional footballer in shape and the player can sort out his own mechanics. Before that player signed pro-contract, he already knows how to slide on his own arse. You went to Phillipines to play football, instead of learning proper skills so we can send you to China to make shaolin money, you went to start using piggy in the middle to learn how to slide on your arse when other players where using it to learn touch, technique and speed of passing. No wonder you dropped out of football to play MMM, and now when we ask you which slide tackle drills you used in your football career, you start telling us about pig in the middle. We were actually hoping to learn something enlightening from you, instead you hit us with pig in the middle also known to Nigerians as Fool. What's next, Monkey Post or Ballay Ay? |
airmark:My friend shut it. There is only so long one can stomach eediocy. We have always known you are not bright upstairs but claiming that piggy in the middle is a slide tackling exercise is the height of eediocy. Using gif of slide tackle during pig in the middle to claim it is a slide tackle exercise is just as stewpid. You might as well use gif of slide tackle in monkey post to claim the same thing. Playing 5 a side is chiefly a possession and pressing exercise like piggy. Players shooting during 5-a-side is not evidence that 5 a side is a shooting drill. Shooting has its own drill. Crossing has it's own drill. Set Pieces have their own drill. Ball control has its own drills through head tennis etc. Dribbling has its own drill with the slalom cones. Even pressing has its own drill, where cones are set across the pitch and each player must block all passing lanes through two cones. You are busy telling us you are an ex-pro footballer and cannot point to any slide tackling drill, you are busy telling us nonsense about piggy. In all your years in pro football, which coach taught you slide tackling and what was the drill? Please don't say Piggy! |
airmark:No, a coach like Conte will either ignore the halfhearted attempt knowing it is not serious, or if it is seriously mistimed, call him and warn him not to injure his teammate in training. |
airmark:That's a playful matter, not regular pig in the middle protocol. This is how fights start in training. Your brain has been noticed - "Pig in the middle is a slide tackle drill". I hope you are not thinking of coaching career. The day you come and tell your players you want to show them how to slide tackle using pig in the middle is the day you will lose your job. We have all played pig in the middle a million times bro. Stop it. |
airmark:What a facetious mugu. Nobody is coaching this player to slide, and nobody told him to slide nor called him and showed him how to slide properly. He is just playing football not being coached on how to slide. This is Peps Barca team as evidenced by the presence of Seydou Keita and Abidal. Was Pep coaching tackle? This is how you would take a regular training exercise and claim someone is coaching a professional footballer on how to slide on the floor. |
airmark:Even Pep does Piggy in the middle drills bro. What are you talking about using Pig in the middle to train tackles that Pep doesn't train. Do you see them showing players how to slide in pig in the middle? We have all played pig in the middle. Former player ko, former player ni. Which coach took you and taught you how to slide and time your sliding. Why didn't you slap him? |
airmark:3 Vs 2 session, pig in the middle aka fool etc is not coaching of tackles. It is to help your pressing, fitness, touch, passing etc. Nobody slide tackles in those sessions. Coach slide tackle ko, coach tackle ni. Even me Ibime, no professional coach can come and coach me about slide tackling and teach me how to slide. You either have the timing or you don't. That's as stupid as claiming NBA coach is teaching professional basketballers how to jump and touch the rim. If you find one interview from one professional player claiming one coach taught him how to slide tackle after he became a professional, I will change my moniker on this forum. Brainless yarns. |
airmark:You are a joker my gee ![]() You went a brought an instructional video from livestrong for kids and amateurs to show that professional coaches are coaching topflight professional footballers to slide tackle. You are ridiculous mehn. Any coach that instructs professional footballers to do sliding drills in training will get sacked that same day. What an insult. For one, training sessions try to avoid too much hard contact to avoid injuries to players. What kind of mumu coach will run slide tackle drills with professional topflight footballers? When Pep said he is not a coach for the tackles, everyone with sense understood that he meant he doesn't coach defence much, not that we expect Conte and Mourinho to be doing slide tackle drills while Pep is not. |
airmark:Coaches don't train players on any sliding tackles. Do you think any coach comes with whistle and tell players to start sliding on the floor? ![]() Oh boy you funny o. All coaches defensive work is positional. Where to stand, when to press, when to drop, when to spring offside trap etc. Any coach that plays the ball down the line and asks players to go sliding after it will get laughed out of the training ground. That Boateng tackle is an anomaly. 9 times out of 10 you don't hit the floor on a tackle like that. His momentum took him down in trying to clear the ball as far as he can at the same time as make the tackle. That was not a slide tackle situation. He fell down, he didn't slide forward. When someone is running at you face to face, you don't usually slide into them. |
airmark:How do you do slide tackle when ball is between your opponent's feet? You can only slide tackle when the ball is a reasonable distance away from his body and usually when you are chasing him side by side. They were facing Messi eye to eye with the ball between his feet. Are they supposed to jump into his body? That is clearly a standing tackle situation which they tried too aggressively and exposed the fullback position for Messi to run into at full speed. Wetin you dey yarn sef? |
Oga Diggz, more blessings mehn. |
airmark:Show me those tackling stats from the 10 matches Messi played against Chelsea. I think we need optician in the house. From what I saw from your gif Bilbao engaged Messi aggressively right from the halfway line. He built up a head of steam and ran into the vacated fullback position at full speed. Now if he were facing our Chelsea legends and he receives ball on the halfway line, they would usually leave him there than engage him. By the time he enters into our final third there would be no where to run into, he would not have built any acceleration, he would lackadaisically pass to the next man. 10 games, no goals, you can't argue with the approach. Those Bilbao guys however were disorganised and out of position because the first guy broke ranks to go and tackle Messi. By the time Messi arrives in the box, they are desperate, panicking and out of position with 3 of them standing on each others toes whereas Chelsea players would all be 5 yards from each other in rigid formation so if Messi beats one, he would come into another one's zone. When Messi himself see the formation like Roman battalion formation with even spacing between each player, he would be discouraged from trying anything. These Bilbao players just rushed in like disorganised Barbarian army in the name of early tackle. Most defenders are unsuccessful with tackling Messi anyway, so I don't know why any team would set up to maximise no of tackles. The goal is to minimise situations where you have to tackle Messi which is what Chelsea do everytime. Last match in 2012, Barca midfield made 7 tackles and Chelsea midfield had 7 tackles. DiMatteo even told the boys to let Barca have the ball on the wings and don't engage them until they come central. You're the one with a lot to learn. |
airmark:How does this relate to no of tackles? You are even confused whether you are talking about no of tackles or percentage success of tackles. I can't deal. Man, you don't know what you are talking about. Those Bilbao defenders were desperately trying to tackle Messi right from halfway line. They tried numerous times. If they were wise like Makelele and Ballack, they would have just chilled in tight formation on the edge of their box and controlled the space and Messi won't score. That's why Messi has not scored a single goal in nearly 10 attempt vs Chelsea. Those Bilbao defenders decided on early confrontation right from the halfway line and paid for it and you are telling us it's vice-versa. Stop typing rubbish. You are clueless. |
