You are right but to be honest, what this guy did is not uncommon in the western academic world.

A lot of western academics had committed even more worse than the guy, but they where never witch hunted.

Even in cases where the were clear exposed the system and the institution protected them.

1. He made up non-verbal autism lie to explain his extremely poor secondary school and University performance (Only 2 GCSEs, no A Levels and degree in PE). Added partial deafness and claimed he taught himself sign language - DISABILITY box ticked ✅

2. He made up stroke, epilepsy, brain tumour - HEALTH challenges box ticked ✅

3. Made up millions he raised for charities who all denied it - Fundraising box ticked ✅

4. Though a straight married black man with 2 children, the only interest group he had unticked was the LGBTQ community, and my observation (I may be wrong) is he deliberately made his physical appearance to also tick the LGBTQ box. Notice his foundation, eyeshadow, lip balm, style of hair, eyebrows shaping, beard shaping all curated in the specific style members of the LGBTQ community use. Another box ✅


My personal opinion is he deliberately and strategically planned and gamed the system to appeal to all interest groups to further his profile and career. And that's a disservice to our true black academics putting in serious work.

There could be a witch-hunt. I'm not interested in the Politics of it. I actually believe in DEI for those who merit it or get close to it. But he was a complete charlatan, and you can judge for yourself whether his lies merit or don't merit being stripped of his position.

He was made a Professor in a different subject based on lies he told about his life story

Academically he was below par, not even passing GCSE or A Levels. His degree was in P.E in a rubbish university. He then got a PHD in Education in another rubbish university which is not a taxing course if you know the UK system

Someone of his CV would be at best a lecturer in a teacher training college, training others to become teachers.

Instead he told numerous lies about his background which I am happy to list for you, and turned that into a Professorship in Sociology (a different course) at Cambridge within 7 years

This is something field experts with the highest level of education in the best universities in their specific field will take 15 to 20 years to achieve (Professorship) even in their field.
