Joezinho: Saying Kanu’s usefulness to the Super Eagles ended in 1996 isn’t true though esp his afcon contributions. Dude might not a goalpoacher but he created assists.
Afcon2000 he was central to our attack. He recorded at least 5 assists in that competition alone including a hat-trick of assists against Tunisia (2 for Okocha and 1 for Ikpeba), an assist in the group game against Morocco and another in the final against Cameroon.
2004 when we met our nemesis Cameroon in the QF, he made one of the best assists at the tournament to utaka from the midfield. He also had 3 assists in the afcon. Kanu didn’t select himself. coaches kept inviting him because he still offered something Nigeria lacked. If you read my post you will see where I wrote that the last 7 years of Kanu SE career turned gratitude into hate That's the period 2004 to 2011 and even arguably AFCON 2002 We come dey carry grandpa who could barely walk at West Brom and Portsmouth in the team for a whole 7 years |

Nobody should blame SE for anything. Those guys are playing despite village people doing everything against them. Read this nonsense. For the record, Chelle has not lost a game as SE coach. They are looking for another coach they can influence and share his salary on paper
🇳🇬 The federation technical committee is divided on whether Eric Chelle should continue as the coach of the Super Eagles, as he awaits the federation's decision on his future.
Some believe he did not meet the AFCON final target set for him and failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup; for this reason, they argue that he should not be allowed to continue as the head coach of Nigeria's senior national team.
However, others believe that he has made significant improvements in the team's performance and that his continuation is vital for achieving better outcomes in the future.
A decision will be made by the NFF leadership regarding his position, but the National Sports Commission (NSC) is also expected to be involved in this process. 🤞 |

This new South African CAF President has killed the fun of African football. AFCON to be replaced with this rubbish below. Who is in Southern Africa apart from SA and maybe Zambia. Also who is in East Africa
So Senegal, Nigeria, Mali, Cameroun, Ghana, CIV will be killing themselves while South Africa is chilling
Format of the African Nations League.
✅ Teams will be divided into four geographical zones: North Africa, East Africa, West Africa, and Central & Southern Africa.
✅ Each zone will have its own group-stage matches, with teams facing each other in September and October.
✅ The top team from each zone will qualify for the final phase in November.
✅ The final phase will see the four regional winners compete to determine the champion of the African Nations League. |

Roland17: Stop with this Hakimi akara analysis. I am getting more upset/ irritated the more I watch this final.
I mean, Onyedika couldn’t even complete a simple half-turn after receiving the ball, your biggest test of any midfielder! Shey na Hakimi hold am?
The players were already intimidated by the sea of reds immediately they walked into the pitch.
Baba no vex, body just dey pain me as I dey watch this thing. I just dey tell you say na from Hakimi all their pressure dey come from Hakimi is the one that dragged Iwobi out of our midfield to be tracking him on left wing and you think that won't have impact on our control? Go watch their first 2 matches when Hakimi was absent Just pray Morocco don't win this match, or you will apologise to our boys today |

Roland17: Look at Senegal taking it to the host nation. You’d never believe Morocco are the host nation. If na our drama queens the sea of red in the stadium go don drown them mentally. They are mental midgets! Senegal no even give ref chance.. The difference is simply Hakimi has something to think about with Sadio Mane Chelle diamond formation will not allow Lookman to pull left to do the same thing Everything Morocco plays comes from Hakimi driving down right wing |

iamoyindamola: Fifa rep Wenger doesn't need to even be FIFA rep to attend AFCON. He is an honorary African and has always had deep ties with African football right from the 80s, giving George Weah prominence and one of he highest salaries in France when it was unusual to pay Africans at that level. Also bringing through Japhet Ndoram etc to being involved in the setup of the ASEC Mimosas academy by his best friend that produced the golden generation of Ivory Coast footballers (Toures, Aruna Dindane generation) I even saw Wenger at Southampton stadium for Nigeria Vs Japan friendly in 2001. Nigerian fans mobbed him outside the stadium |

Joezinho: Kanu that most people drags mostly played as a SS or attacking midfielder for the SE not as a traditional No 9.
Always linking play, dropping deep and creating chances rather than leading the line. Kanu usefulness to Super Eagles ended in 1996 And we still paid Kanu tax till 2011 while he messed up our structure 15 years of gratitude paid to him for Olympic exploits. Baba even refused to retire even while on wheelchair at Portsmouth. Our gratitude is exhausted and turned to hatred for the last 7 years of his Super Eagles career |

Amoto94: Unlimited22, Bluemann and Ibime is Jacquet any better than what we already have in Acheampong to warrant the club paying a huge sum for his signing? Can't Acheampong play the position and any other academy CB pending the return of Colwill and Sarr who has been brilliant in AFCON I don't know the fella but Mamadou Sarr would have slotted in with no problems Don't trust spending big on French league given our recent experience. I rather buy in the £10-£20m range from that league and see what comes good |

Lana1: That team has been choking at Afcon since before dem born some of us Nigeria has reached 16 semifinals By law of probability, assuming all semifinalists are equal, we should have reached 8 finals which we have, thus we win our semis 50% of the time. Where we are underperforming is in finals where we have reached 8 and only won 3 instead of 4 if we performed to averages. You can blame Cameroon for most of our defeats, especially Roger Milla. We have only won finals as host and against Zambia and Burkinafaso lending credence to the chokers tag We have lost finals to Cameroon (3x), Algeria (1x) and Ivory Coast (1x) |
