Earthquake2:It is comment like this that often stir up bad blood on this thread. Please let's be factual and do our analysis without ethnic sentiments. I don't care about where the bulk of the players are from cos that is not important. Now talking about their ages, the team is a mixture of youth and experience. In women's Football players get better with age. A large percentage of those players are products of our U20 teams from 2011 to 2017. That means they are mostly in their 20s. And to ur last sentence, nothing like seggregation. The coach chooses who we wants to include in his team. Thank God the coach is a Swede and not a Nigerian. |
BascoVanVeli:It is most likely that u didn't watch Super Falcons of the late 90s to 2000s era play. The only player on that your list that stands a chance is Azizat Oshoala I may also add Onome Ebi. I must tell u the quality of players has dropped. Then were the days when as the Super Falcons were exchanging passes and initing attacks the crowd would be cheering ceaslesly. Do u know that in 2003 Nigeria presented 2 Super Falcons teams? One went to the All African Games and won Gold while the other went to the World Women's Championship. Can u split this current team that way? They even in their full strength could not win the last AAG. They didn't even qualify for the last Olympics. If you are opportuned please watch some of the games of the Falcons of the old. We should not even be arguing this. |
M7even:Mind you the word is "talent" and I didn't compare them to West Africa as a whole. When I say players from West Africa I mean the individual power Houses. Egyptian players are not as talented as players from Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Ghana. Where are talents identified? At youth level. What the Egyptians have going for them is their developed league. And this has its own positive effects on the development of their players which is why they can easily set up a formidable National team with home based players. |
BascoVanVeli:Bro, the quality is not there anymore. Did you follow the Falcons teams of the late 90s and 2000s? |
klexycole:See how much our female football has fallen. Scraping a win over Slovakia. Chai! I miss the days of Perpetual Nkwocha, Mercy Akhide, Florence Omagbemi, Stella Mbachu and co. Our female football is dying. We cannot even dominate African teams again. ![]() |
Vabasi:Mod went for lunch |
Curtisaxel7:You are not stating any facts. You have not seen his future so which facts are you stating here? You are only stating the direction in which you wish his career to go. And please don't come crying when they accuse you of hating. |
Danielnino00:Egyptian players are not typically as talented as players from West Africa. What they really have going for them is their very good tactical awareness. I think their league is highly responsible for that. In all my years of followership of the game Mohammed Salah is their best export to the European leagues. |
Curtisaxel7:This man, I don't understand you o. You are practically wishing for his downfall. Not right bro. |
BascoVanVeli:Sebi TheGoodJoe has already classified the AFCON as "Short gains". ![]() |
TheGoodJoe:So are you saying he should just focus on training and be kept out of the real playing time? Are you saying playing time is not part of development? Or what are you saying? |
TheGoodJoe:Gbam! |
Unlimited22:Page 5555 ![]() |
TheGoodJoe:This was what u said when he was under Pep I just hope this Rodgers' tenure will favor Iheanacho else I don't know what defense mechanism u will come up with again. |
TheGoodJoe:He also needs the game time now than ever before. |
Earthquake2:Development without game time? What I said is he needs more game time to aid his development. |
TheGoodJoe:If game time is not that important for developing players why do big clubs loan out their young players to lesser clubs or lesser leagues? Game time is a very important part of the development. You have come again with this your "Drills" theory. No matter how much the coach demands from you during training it cannot be like the experience from a real live game! Iheanacho needs that game time now like never before. |
Curtisaxel7:We need our young players to be getting enough playing time to aid their development. Iheanacho is an Asset to Nigerian Football. A product of our Youth system. We can only wish the lad well. |
Curtisaxel7:I wonder if this will bring you joy. ![]() |
finestiyke:You wey dey ask for like and share, did u go out to vote? |
edi287:Maybe Sha |
Kwamecron:Mr literate. This your sentence though ![]() |
Aegon:Then next election let a party with the acronym "AFC" contest so that spill over of rigged votes from APC will also touch them. ![]() |
What I see on Felix Nicholas' poster is ACP or something and not PCP. |
klexycole:The coach had both Ozil and Iwobi on the pitch for the greater part of the second half. Seems Emery is considering playing both together. Ozil went central while Iwobi played from his regular flanks. I see something like this against the Spurs: ...............Lacazzette Iwobi........Ozil......Aubameyang. Mkhitaryan is also Having a good run of form and may also start or come in as a sub. |
TheGoodJoe:I just hope Rodgers' tactics favors Iheanacho o. Else I no know wetin u go use as defense again o. Cos I know some people here would be eagerly watching and waiting. ![]() |
TheGoodJoe:Truly interesting times ahead. |
junnyjake:You see? No be only me ![]() |
junnyjake: Nops. That word "Exposed!" |
My Analysis of the Chances of African Representatives at the upcoming FIFA U20 World Cup. England and Brazil are shocking absentees. This is the second consecutive time that an U17 Champion has failed to qualify for the subsequent U20 WC. GROUP A Poland Colombia Tahiti Senegal Based on pedigree Colombia would be favorites in that group. They would prove Senegal's toughest opposition not only because of the confederation they qualified from but also because South American teams have been known to be technically gifted at all levels. And we know in Youth football technical ability of the players plays a major role in their performances. Finally, for Brazil to not to have qualified, respect any team that came out of the South American qualifiers. A draw for Senegal would be a fair result Poland are hosts and so are expected to capitalize on the home advantage. However, their pedigree at youths level would negate their rating. I expect a Win for Senegal and at worst a draw. Tahiti, on paper, are the weakest team in this tournament. They have always been known to be points and goals donour to opponents they face in previous competitions they ever participated in. In fact, the fact that Tahiti are in this group, this group more likely than others would produce 3 qualifiers as we know that 3pts with fairly good goals difference will usually be enough to make it as one of the best 3rd placed teams. Senegal will spell "Tahiti". ![]() Verdict: Senegal likely to qualify among the top 2 from this group. Group D Qatar USA Nigeria Ukraine Though based on calculated rating USA were top seed of this group but based on age grade pedigree Nigeria are favorites. At first glance the group may look easy by on a closer look it appears a tricky group. Qatar, coming from a region where talents are relatively few, may look like the whooping boys of the group. But considering the recent football structure the country has in place courtesy of the Aspire Academy, and their winning of the Asian cup with a very young team, they may just be the Dark horses of this group. I expect a stiff opposition from them against Nigeria but I tip Nigeria to win. USA are the seeded team mostly due to their continuous participation at this age level and consistent descent showings. They typically do not produce much technically gifted teams but their tactical discipline has always seen them through. I expect a great game between Nigeria and USA. The result can swing either ways. Ukraine: not much pedigree at this level but for the fact that they qualified from Europe it means they have at least a descent team. Another potential tight game for Nigeria but I tip Nigeria to win this. Verdict: Nigeria will qualify from that group. Group E Panama Mali France Saudi Arabia France are the top rated team in this group and Mali are second. The group toppers would likely be between Mali and France and the result from the clash between the two teams could prove decisive in determining the group's toper. Mali are expected to secure wins against Panama and Suadi-Arabia Verdict: Mali qualifies among the top 2 Group F Portugal Korea Argentina South Africa Portugal are the seeded team here and deservedly so. They alongside France and Spain have been able to develop a very functional youth development structure in the recent years. South Africa would be underdogs going into the game against Portugal however, who says SA cannot win? Remember Zambia beat Portugal in their opening game in the 2017 WYC. Korea, perennial East Asian strong representative. Known for playing tactical football and can hurt any team if they get their tactics right. The game against SA can go either ways Argentina's performances at Youth level have dwindled since the introduction of the MRI. They are no longer as prolific as they used to be at the U20 level. However, I still expect them to produce at least a descent team. Again, just like against Portugal, SA are the underdogs going into this game.Verdict: SA are in a very difficult group. They are not likely to finish among the top 2. They are the African team that has the least chance of making it out of the group. They will not qualify from the group. But I wish they can prove me wrong. ![]() |
