West Ham vs Leeds 2-4.

One of the worst offside decisions in history. Rodrigo wasn't even interfering with play and didn't change the direction of the ball.
Good for Arsenal's top 4 finish grin

Come on Dad. Don't act blind. She dropped Nigga. And then used the word, Negro. All because she had no answer to my analytical angles. What's that?

Lana remains synonymous with a very foul tongue. Nothing's changed about that since I walked in here since 2015. She needs help, believe me.
You have both been well respected members of this forum since inception. We all have our differences and with our interactions over the years we have come to know how to manage each other.

True this.

Gambia gave a good fight. I doubt that group as a whole, is very strong, but one can never tell.

Mali will most likely top the group though, if we're looking at quality of opponents in the final round.
Yeah, it would be Mali vs Mauritania and Tunisia vs Gambia.
Mali will likely beat Mauritania but for Gambia beating Tunisia, it is doubtful.

Mali vs. Gambia 1-1

We're into the last minutes of the game

Be like E go finish 1-1. So, it is only Nigeria, Cameroon and Morocco that have qualified for the next round still
With 4pts, both teams are most likely to qualify, as at least best 3rd placed teams.
Mind u Tunisia and Mauritania are still on 0pts.

I am really happy for Gambia. This is their first AFCON and they are not doing badly.

Thank you for reaching out.

I'm not exactly sure how icon4s did it last year, but I think what is required is to make an announcement as to how the awards came about.
The processes involved are thus;
Step 1: Members of the largest and most active super eagles thread on Africa largest forum, Nairaland selected a 5 members panel to oversee the organization of the award.
Step 2: The five members panel with their experience in the Nigeria football scene came up with the nomination categories and nominees for each award
Step 3: The final aware nomination list was make public to all members of the forum to cast their votes according.
Step 4: The winners of each award categories were selected.
I paid a radio station in Benin for the publicity. For every news hour it was announced, I was charged.

What you need do is to write the news about the outcome of the awards, post it and copy him (jubilantagida) in the post.

Meanwhile I am still waiting for the edited version of the announcement so I can send it to a couple of media houses that will not charge us.

Based on first half games, the standout teams have to be

Cameroon
Sierra Leone
Nigeria
Equatorial Guinea

I did not see the Mali and the Gabon games, so, I won't speak on the teams from those games. But from Round 1, these 4 teams stood out for me. Looking forward to Round 2 and a clearer picture.
Mali also played very well. They outplayed the Tunisians.
Gambia also looked impressive.

In all my life I have never seen this type of refereeing in an international game.
He can be forgiven for the two penalty decisions. But some refs won't give that penalty against Tunisia.
That Malian player didn't deserve a red card.
And then ending the game first in the 85th and then 89th Mins. Meanwhile, there was a water break, two penalties that needed VAR decision and a red card that was checked via VAR.

That guy should be sent home from this AFCON. He is not a REf

Nostradamus1:
your statement is factually wrong within context. North africa has the hottest temperatures.
Algeria and mali are 2 of africa hottest countries.
Also the tactics u describe is actually used by north african countries with their proximity to sahara desert.

The only excuse is that their foreign based players are not used to the weather ( most teams are affected)
We are talking about high temperatures and high humidity (even though the humidity in that part of Cameroon is relatively lower at this time of the year). Have you askd yourself why despite the High temperature in a place like Dubai you will hardly sweat. Dubai has a kind of weather similar to what we have in North Africa: hot hot during summer but with low humidity. And cold during winter.
Have you also asked yourself y North African teams always play their home games at 8 or 9pm local time, under flood lights? Weather is a factor.

Some days ago, , before the AFCON kicked off, i mentioned weather/climate as a factor that can work against the North African teams.
Even though it is still early, let's just be watching.

Really sorry my distinguished Sirs and Lady to walk in uninvited but I noticed an error in the #11 awards category.

I know Danielnino00 will get a lot of mentions and probably miss where I pointed it out in my vote post on the voting thread but I just thought I should drop it here and scram. grin

So let's get to it...

11. Best assist of the year
-Victor Osimhen assist for Samuel Chukwueze vs Lesotho
-Ola Aina assist for Victor Osimhen goal Vs Lesotho
-Chidozie Awazeim assist for Leon Balogun Vs Central African Republic

The bolded above is the only 2021 assist. The other listed two were in 2019.

Also, on the voting thread.... these were the options.

11. Best assist of the year:
-Victor Osimhen assist for Samuel Chukwueze vs Lesotho
-Ola Aina assist for Victor Osimhen goal Vs Lesotho
-Alex Iwobi assist for Iheanacho's second goal vs. Liberia

Awaziem's assist was removed and not among the list of voting options in #11

Iwobi assist for Nacho is also the only truly 2021 assist.

Looks like we are all in love with that Lesotho game abi. grin

I understand it's an error and it's not easy keeping up with a lot of the data one has to collate to ensure accuracy. I know coz I've been in your shoes on this committee before.

And while I know it's probably too late to change anything. I just need to point that if any of the 2019 assists win the 2021 Assist of the year, it would be very funny if someone outside our group of minds on our home thread point it out and reveal its absurdity.

Please I implore the committee to look into this #11 and find how they can fix it. We cannot award a 2019 assist for 2021. I hope we understand how funny that looks.

Thanks for your time and thanks for reading even though I was uninvited. I appreciate the courtesy.

Take care and more power to what you gentlemen and lady are doing. Godspeed. wink
When I saw those Lesotho games mentions, I tried to figure it out in my head if we ever played Lesotho in 2021. It was when I was on holiday in my village and i was out of Network for some days. I couldn't even nominate any assists because of the confusion.
But by the time i realized, nomination had been concluded and voting started.

Good morning everyone.

Given the fact that some of us will be really preoccupied with one thing or another, I've decided that the final announcement of results will be made on Friday. That gives us 3 days to properly collate the results.

With regard to the collation of result, a moniker from the thread tglobal came up with the idea (via an email he sent to me) that we can use a Google excel spreadsheet to collate the result. he already created the document which I'll post the link later.
I'd like the house to indicate if we can make use of the spreadsheet to compute the result or do so manually. A quick response will be very much appreciated.

Chidera Ejuke: Meet the talented winger leading Nigeria's charge at AFCON 2021
footballng.com

The Super Eagles will be seeking a fourth continental title at the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, and one of the players that will be key to the side’s hopes is Chidera Ejuke.

In a squad that has been decimated by injuries and withdrawals, Ejuke’s performance will be vital for Nigeria if they are to win a fourth AFCON title.

But who is the talented winger?

Ejuke is currently with Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow, but he has had quite a remarkable journey even though he is only 23.

The 23-year-old’s talents were first spotted at the U-17 level, but the youngster never got to represent Nigeria at any age-grade competition.

He didn’t make the Golden Eaglets that won the 2015 u-17 World Cup and was ineligible to represent the squad that failed to make it to the world stage two years later.

Ejuke also had a failed trial with English Premier League club Liverpool. Following the disappointment of failing to play for the Golden Eaglets and Liverpool, Ejuke got his chance with Nigerian club Gombe United.

However, he only stayed at the club for a few months before moving to Europe, where he signed for the Norwegian football club Vålerenga Fotball.

Ejuke’s impressive performance in Norway caught the attention of Dutch football club Heerenveen, who paid 2m euros to sign him in 2019.

But just like his time at Gombe United, Ejuke spent just a year at Heerenveen before CSKA Moscow snapped him up for 12m euros.

Ejuke’s displays at CSKA earned him his Super Eagles debut in October 2020. But his talents only caught the eye of many Nigerians this season.

The 23-year-old has been CSKA’s best player this season, winning the club’s player of the month in the last three months.

At the international level, he is already a fan-favourite because of his ability to move past defenders with ease, even though he is yet to have a good run of games in the team.

But with new interim boss Austin Eguavoen, a big fan of the skilful winger, Ejuke is set to play a vital role in the Super Eagles AFCON 2021 campaign.
My own be say make him try to dey release balls at the right time. No be all those dribbling wey him dey do in past games, without a finished product.

I share the same sentiment with you 100%. It's a real shame how mal naurished our keeping options have been since 2017. Rohr sent a trainer to work with Uzoho before the world cup. One would have thought he should have devoted more reasourses in scouting and training more keepers before now.
Truth is that our midfield will is not built for Spain-like total domination, so you need a real keeper who will dominate his box and keep you in games especially those tense moments.
Non of our keepers are capable of this.
A team with a robust midfield is often difficult to break. Rohr's lean midfield philosophy really exposed our defense in a number of games.
Nigeria is typically known to be ball possessive with good midfield dominance. That completely varnished under Rohr and we started playing all sorts of long balls. Just hope the current crew will make this amendment.
