The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eaglets star is one of the first names on the team sheet of manager Thorsten Fink, starting 30 out of a possible 35 games in the topflight and has notched 12 goals.
“I have not been contacted to play at the Olympics, I need to be contacted first , ” said Olarenwaju Kayode to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I don’t really know the team or players because I have been so busy here and wanted to qualify for the Europa League and now we have qualified, I think I am a bit relaxed.
“If I am invited, as always I will try to put in my best, also I will make use of my pace. Sure, it is true that I am one of the fastest players in the Austrian Bundesliga. ”
Only Jonathan Soriano (Salzburg) and teammate Alexander Gorgon have scored more goals than the Nigerian striker in the Austrian Bundesliga ahead of the final round of the season on Sunday. Ifeanyi Emmanuel www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=19040 Olanrewaju Kayode. I have followed this lad since he featured at the 2009 U17 hosted in Nigeria. Kayode also featured in 2011 and 2013 U20. He played for ASEC Mimosa of CIV and now with FK Austria Wien. While I believe he deserves a call up. I dnt think he will make the final list even if invited. |

BlackAlbino6: I understand now. Na so that kain tin Sir Icon4s is in for it. Lol I understand what joseph1013 is trying to do. He has arranged a revenge game. Hahaha OMG.We shall see the end of it. But not to worry. I am not moved. I still maintain that this U20 squad would b better and more competitive than the 2015 set. See, I have said it that i have been following d WYC since 1985. When i mean following i mean following analytically. I know what a real U20 team should b made of. I have x-rayed the composition of our most succesful U20 teams of years past. I know the stuffs each of those teams is made of. The only thing that can let Amuneke down is if he does nt go for our best available players of the U20 age bracket. This U20 team will have at least 6 players from d last U20 or 2013 U17. Ifeanyi Mathew, Taiwo Awoniyi, Chigozie Obasi, Chidera Eze, Musa Yahaya, Zaharadeen Bello. These 6 players, I am sure u know, have improved from where they were at d last U20. At 2015 WYC they were academy players bt most have now signed professional contract and are playing first team football. We also have 2 U23 players hu are also elligible: Azubuike Okechukwu and Sincere Seth. Though seth is still with an academy, he will turn 18 this year and hopefully sign a professional contract. The AYC and WYC are next yr so Seth would have gained 1 yr prodessional experience. Azubuike Okechukwu is already a professional player hu needs no introduction. He has even featured for the Super Eagles of which his performance was above average. In him this U20 would have a rock solid DMF. Do I need to mention that the following players are also elligible for team selection?: Sadiq Umar, Nura Abdullahi and Chidozie Awaziem. These guys u know are already senior team players for their various clubs. This trio i need not tell you abt their exploits in Europe. And finally, we have the likes of Kelechi Nwakali, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Funsho Bamgboye that are academy players of top clubs/ academies. Some other of their mates are also soon to make their way to European academies. The 2015 U20 set though blessed with so much talent was greatly lacking in experience. Awoniyi, Yahaya, Ezeh, Mathew, Zaharadeen I am sure u agree are better players today than dey were two years ago. They have added more professionalism to their game and that will definitely rub off on d the team. I have severally Iikened this team to the 1989 Flying Eagles of which they could be better than. The only stumbling block could be Amuneke's choice of players. Most of us here have known each other for almost 2yrs. We have been through several competitions on these threads together. Go back and check all my predictions and expectations for our teams at competitions and matches. Both males and females. Senior and Junior teams. I have seen a lot abt Nigerian football to easily make informed predictions. Watch out for this next U20 team. |

terzurum5:
Yes there is and should be course for concern. You should be moved because of Coach Samson Siasia's choice of players. I want to believe that we have better U23 players in Nigeria than what we normally turn to invite to the camp. Just imagine the Flying Eagles defeating the Olympics team. That shows that Coach Samson Siasia must have allowed sentiments or wrong judgment to control his thinking or player selection. It is a very big shame of the just promoted U17 to defeat the next to be or Super Eagles team B1 or B2, any how you rate it.
We have Godwin Obaje, Chisom Chikatara and co, but Siasia would prefer Hussain Bolt and other wrestling like built or conditioned players. It is shameful.
Hope Sir TheGoodjoe is well armed and prepared with better and superior arsenal to argue this out. But if you are bent on supporting this kind of thing, then be ready for another heart attack in the Olympics proper if we go with the wrong players.
My brother, I am as worried as u are. I said I am not moved because I know "we are Nigeria". We know how to get things right even at the dying minutes If there is something I dislike most about Siasia, it is his choice of team selection; the "my boys" issue. Siasia has done this on several occasions and the NFF always play deaf and dumb. He is fund of having certain set of players he calls "his boys" and would always invite them at the detriment of other quality players. Such was the case when he was the Super Eagles coach in 2011 when he kept inviting below average players like Isaac Promise, Chibuzor Oknokwo, Solomon Okoronkwo and Yinka Adedeji just because he took them to d Olympics in 2008. The last time I set my eyes on Yinka Adedeji in 2009 or 2010 he was clubless and was only playing football on the streets of Agbado-Ijaiye, Adura to be precise, a suburb of Lagos. Next thing Siasia Invited him to the Super Eagles. I have sadly noticed the trend of invited players for this U23 team. There is too much favoritism. How can players like Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi and Junior Ajayi be the leading U23 strikers when players like Imoh Ezekiel, Isaac Success, Chisom Chikatara, Aaron Samuel and Godwin Obaje fall under this age category? Next thing he has penciled down Odion Ighalo. Recall too that Siasia brought Odion Ighalo to limelight. Ighalo was Siasia's captain at the 2009 WYC hosted in Egypt. All those likes of Ubong Ukpai to me are not even supposed to be in the list of best 100 U23 players The other day, I read the story of how he was battling with Amaefule's fitness. Amaefule and Amuzie's fitness problem is no issue but Leone Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo "are too injury prone" right? Injury prone Stanley Amuzie is a preferred left back option over a more industrious and very fit Kingsley Madu. Forumites, we are stake holders in this whole thing. Let us not cease to make our suggestions. Even if Siasia would ignore, a very high ranking NFF official or sport administrator or even technical committee member can take up Siasia's selection case. |

Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles, will take on their Olympic team counterparts today in what is expected to be their sternest test yet as they prepare for an U20 AFCON qualifier in Burundi next week.
The Flying Eagles are mainly the FIFA U17 world champions of last year and under the tutelage of coach Emmanuel Amuneke. They have been unbeaten in their preparatory games ahead of their trip to Bujumbura.
Skipper Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen have stood out for the new Flying Eagles thus far.
The Olympic team, better known as Dream Team VI, have also been in training camp in Abuja and are also getting set for an invitational tournament in South Korea at the end of the month.
However, coach Samson Siasia has been unhappy with that the top league stars he has called up have only trickled into training camp as they step up preparations for the Rio Olympics in August.
Both teams last clashed in January 2015 during the expanded Super 4 and the result was a thrilling 3-3 draw.
Today's match is fixed for 4pm at the FIFA Goal Project. http://africanfootball.com/news/628018/Flying-Eagles-dare-Dream-Team-in-test-game With the crop of U23 players in camp right now I tip the Flying Eagles to win. |

Napoleon55: For me,he is even been underrated by us,do u think that FIFA is stupid to have awarded him the MVP with just three set pieces goals ahead of a player with 10 goals and two assists,no,when last have we seen a midfielder like this in Nigeria,Nwakali is the first of his kind,a tripeptide midfield maestro. I rate Nwakali higher than all our current midfielders, Iheanacho,a great player but he need to start practicing how to score free kicks to be among the elites players, I can't wait to see when these 2 KKs will lead our new golden generations, one attacking weapon and one midfield general Spot on bro. Recall I said players with such abilities come around once in a decade: Okocha came around in the 1990s, Mikel came around in 2000s and K.Nwakali has come around in 2010s. I am usually conservative when rating young players. I didn't even rate Iheanacho this highly but this K. Nwakali is such an exceptional player. In him Nigeria and Arsenal have a great asset. |

Nigeria starlet Kelechi Iheanacho has admitted he is surprised with how far he has progressed in the English Premier League in his debut season.
Youngster Iheanacho has scored 13 goals in 34 games in all competitions this season, mostly coming off the bench.
He joined Manchester City directly from the Taye Academy in Owerri, Nigeria, shortly after the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup and while he wasn’t expected to feature so soon for the star-studded City side, he has not only featured, but has gone on to make an appreciable impact.
“Whatever happens now it has been a great season for me. I couldn’t have imagined what has happened so far so I’m really happy,” he told the Daily Mail.
“So much has happened in the last few years it is difficult to take in. If you start thinking about being here one moment and there the next, your brain would get overload and your head would be spinning so it’s best not to think about it too much.”
The 19-year old also went to state that he has had to listen to his teammates, in order to keep getting better.
“The other lads are always talking to me, offering advice and helping me – whether in training or in games – and I listen to everything they say,” he said.
“Like any striker I love scoring goals and I’m not really fussed how they go into the net as long as they do.
“I just take the chances as they come. It’s just about being in the right place at the right time and when the chance comes your way you have to be able to take it.” http://africanfootball.com/news/627898/Iheanacho-admits-hes-amazed-with-his-impact Yes, You amazed me too. Well done boy and thanks for doing Nigeria proud. Yes you broke an EPL record of the lowest minutes to goal ratio. I must still say "you are not there yet". Yes, I say so because where I wish you to be is far ahead of where you are today. I wish you to be a leading striker in Europe. I wish you to lead the Super Eagles attack that would play in the 2018 WC. I wish you to break Rashidi Yekini's record of highest goals scoring striker in Nigeria. I wish you to compete with the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Bale and Neymar in terms of wages. To whom God has blessed with this much talent, much is expected. Well done boy and keep working hard. |

A source that witnessed the Dream Team’s training sessions noticed that the stopper only resumed training five days ago after picking up a leg injury during one of the workouts.
The national team handlers have not totally ruled him out of the tournament and will continue to monitor his fitness in the coming days before announcing the squad that will be on the plane to Asia.

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that a list of 18 players, that is the eleven youngsters that will start the game against the East Africans and seven subs, has been submitted to the Confederation of African Football.
Thus, suggestions in the media that coach Emmanuel Amuneke will call up two more players to join the squad before the qualifiers against Burundi are incorrect.
The former Zamalek and Barcelona winger had already invited defender Lukman Zakari and planned to call up an unnamed player based in the Italian Serie B after he was recommended by his scouting team but later jettisoned the idea.
Burundi will host Nigeria in the first leg of the second round 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, May 21.
