The game was more like Mane vs Iheanacho. grin

Iheanacho is really working very hard so as to remain in Etihad when Pep finally resumes.Impressive showing today.

Would really love to see Iwobi playing behind Iheanacho at the Olympics. Iwobi is excellent ball passer while Iheanacho is an excellent finisher.

Nigeria to try to convince Sheyi Ojo, others to play for Eagles
Biyi Akangbe

https://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03555/Sheyi_Ojo_2_3555253b.jpg
A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has hinted that the Football House has set its sight on getting the trio of Dominic Solanke (Chelsea), Sheyi Ojo (Liverpool) and Ademola Lookman (Charlton Athletic) play for the Super Eagles.

The three players are all 18 years old and all but Lookman have represented England at under age levels and a source in the NFF told Nation Sport that some persons in the Glasshouse depending on the availability of funds will soon be embarking on tour of some England and Holland to woo eligible Nigerians to represent their place of origin.

The source specifically disclosed that after the success story of Alex Iwobi who now plays for the Eagles after the intervention of the NFF, the mentioned trio alongside Chuba Akpom(Arsenal) and a 12-year-old Lateef Omidiji Jr (FC Dordrecht U-14) who is said could spark a bidding war between Nigeria and the USA are all closely being monitored.

Nation Sport gathered that the NFF scouts will strive to make these players commit their allegiance to Nigeria and not follow the trend some of their compatriots took in the past only to be used and dumped by their preferred foreign countries.

Ojo is now an established Liverpool winger and Solanke is also being closely monitored by Chelsea in Vitesse Arnhem (Holland) where is presently on loan after he emerged as Chelsea Youth Player of the Year in 2015 while Lookman is also trying his best as a striker with Charlton Athletic and he is rumoured to be on the radar of Arsenal FC.

Nigeria Lagging Behind England For Services Of Highly-Rated Arsenal Goalie Arthur

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/33138Okonkwo.jpg
The English FA is ahead of the Nigeria Football Federation for the services of highly-rated Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.

The Gunners U15s netminder has made remarkable progress at Arsenal since he joined the club and is on the brink of earning a promotion to the U18s after he made the squad for their 4-1 win over Sunderland U18s last Friday.

Arthur Okonkwo has been described by one of his peers, who keeps goal for a rival London team, as a goalkeeper with good reflexes and has tipped him to make the grade at Arsenal.

“He is a good goalkeeper, good overall. He is good in shot-stopping and distribution, I have played against him,” the source told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“For his age, he is tall for a goalkeeper. England are ahead of Nigeria now for his services.”

Arthur Okonkwo has played for England at U15 level.

themall:
World football governing body, FIFA, has threatened to ban Egypt from all international football, including the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup and the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers if the country’s government did not stop further interference in the administration of the game.
Egypt defeated Nigeria 1-0 in Alexandria last month to virtually confirm their ticket for the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup. The Pharaohs are also in the final round of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
However, if FIFA banned the Egyptians from all international competitions, the Group G ticket in the African Nations Cup qualifiers would now be a straight contest between Nigeria and Tanzania. The fourth team in the group, Chad, withdrew after the second round of matches.
According to kingfut.com, FIFA’s official warning to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) comes in the light of Egypt’s Supreme Administrative Court ruling to dissolve the EFA board over election irregularities.
FIFA rules prohibit any government intervention as articles 13 and 17 of the FIFA statutes oblige member associations to manage their affairs independently and with no influence from third parties.
According to the letter, the EFA may face suspension in case the court decision was implemented. The EFA had already challenged the ruling and the court has set May 7 as a date for ruling in the case.
“The court decision, if implemented, would most likely be considered as an interference in the internal affairs of the EFA and the case would be brought to the highest authorities of FIFA for consideration of sanctions, including the suspension of the EFA,” the letter read.
Candidates for the EFA 2012 elections Magda El Helbawi and Hermas Radwan had dragged the EFA board to court over allegations of vote rigging during the elections. The court accepted the lawsuit in March and the verdict obligated Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Khaled Abdel-Aziz, to dissolve the EFA board headed by Gamal Allam.

Egypt is threatened with a ban and Nigeria also under a ban threat. Tanzania may end up being the only Team left. Automatic qualification for them be that.

Sure u meant Sadiq Umar and nt Nura.

Sadiq plays in a more competitive league than Awoniyi while Osimhen trains in d top division of same country Awoniyi plays Second division.
Talent wise Awoniyi lags behind Sadiq and Osimhen.

Amuneke typically plays a 4-5-1 formation. Such coaches are usually contempted with 2 natural CF while the other forwards would come into d team as WFs or AMs. And if this scenerio plays out, without any atom of sentiments, Awoniyi may nt make d WYC sqaud if we qualify. Remember there is still Chidera Ezeh.

No sentiments should be attached to this team, this team should be built around Osimhen and Nwakali,to be supported by chukwueze and sadiq Umar. The likes of Yahaya,Awoniyi, mathew,Azubike, should be brought later on to beef up the team and the team will b super, just like the way Mikel and Ogbuke was brought on board to the flying eagles class of 2005 (Holland 2005) and the team became stronger.
I believe this set of flying eagles is going to be stronger than the last set if coach Amuneke should able not to let ego and pride affect his job by merging both the 2015(manu boys) and some of the Olympic eagles(siasia boys) that r still within the age bracket with his 2015 eaglets(Amuneke boys) into one unit. How he will be able to put together his boys ,Amuneke's boys, manu Garba's boys and Siasia boys is the key. only pride and ego won't alloy u seek for help.
I have predicted that the 2017 U20 Team (If Amuneke fully utilizes all the eligible players at his disposal) would be about the best we have seen in decades.

You are very right in stating that it would be a triple combo of Manu's 2013 Eaglets, Amuneke's 2015 Eaglets and Siasia's 2016 Olympics Team players.

This would be a Golden opportunity to win that illusive FIFA U20 Trophy. I have more confidence in this U20 than the 2015 class.

He can still muscle his way through. You know that Awoniyi, apart from scoring goals, contributes a lot about defence. I don't know if Sadiq is also good in that regards.
Awoniyi to me has never been a grade "A" teen striker. In performing the CF Role having to chose from amongst Osimhen, Sadiq, Awoniyi and Ezeh, I think Osimhen and Sadiq (Who I consider Grade "A" teen strikers) are ahead of Awoniyi. I can comfortably rate Osimhen and Sadiq in the same class as Rashford and Iheanacho. Awoniyi does not belong to that class. I dnt attach sentiments in my analysis. When a player is not there I say "he is not there".

Talking about contributing a lot to the defense, that attribute, even if Awoniyi has it is inconsequential in this case cos we have midfielders and defenders who can perform such role. The most important criterion is there ruthlessness in front of goal.
However, if Amuneke choses to work with 3 CF mayb he (Awoniyi) could be included. I have not seen Chidera Ezeh play of late so I can't rate him yet.

Politics › Re: We Did Not Ban Export Of Nigeria’s Agric Products – EU by Icon4s(m): 9:00am On Apr 26, 2016
Caseless:
The European Union (EU) has clarified that it did not ban the export of several agricultural products from Nigeria, as wrongly stated in a number of national newspapers.
Head of Trade and Economics Section of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Filippo Amato, during the final national training on standards on code of practices for Nigerian agricultural products for exportation in Abuja with the theme: “Standard and Quality: Unleashing the Potential of Agricultural Products to grow the Non-oil Export in Nigeria,”organised in partnership with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria(SON).

While admitting that although it was true that there were a number of food products (such as melon seeds, dried meat, palm oil ) imported from Nigeria that were sometimes rejected at the EU border because they were found to contain dangerous substances for human health, Amato said the import suspension measure adopted by the EU only concerned dried beans.

“The reason for the import suspension measure of dried beans is that since January 2013 more than 50 rejections have been recorded at the EU border in relation to this product originating from Nigeria, nearly all of them reporting the presence of the unauthorised pesticide dichlorvos at levels largely exceeding the acute reference dose tentatively established by the European Food Safety Authority,” he explained.

He said In order to allow the time necessary for Nigeria to provide feedback and to consider the appropriate risk management measures, the suspension of imports of dried beans applies until 30 June 2016,adding that Nigerian authorities must provide an export control plan to assure that the beans exported to the EU comply with the EU Minimal Risk Levels for Hazardous Substances.
Amato also said that the key to economic development is not protectionism, but a good mix of policy measures and reforms capable to increase the competitiveness of all sectors of the economy and consequently Nigeria’s trade relations with the rest of the world.
He argued that one tool that would considerably enhance trade relations, and increase the potential to diversify the exports from Nigeria to the EU, is the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the EU and ECOWAS.

Former Nigeria international winger, Femi Opabunmi has reportedly turned to a beggar in the city of Ibadan.

Opabunmi represented Nigeria at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan and had a total of three caps for the Super Eagle before he retired.

The former winger who has been trailed with reports of financial difficulties is said to have turned to a beggar in Ibadan.

According to blogger, Ladun Liadi, sources revealed that the former Shooting Stars forward has resorted to begging after he an eye surgery years ago ended his career.

"He practically begs from anyone he spots. If you see him and greet him like an ex-footballer he is, the next thing is for him to ask you for money and his slogan has always been, ‘I don’t know what my wife and kids will eat today, we have nothing at home," the source told Metronaija.

Metronaija's report states that Opabunmi could be located somewhere around Ring Road, the street beside Echos bar.

He played for a few clubs, including Shooting Stars FC, Grasshoppers Zürich (Switzerland) and Chamois Niortais in France.

He studied at Methodist High School Ibadan and played for the Methodist High School Ibadan Old Boys. Serious eyes problems stopped his career since 2006.

Opabunmi scored a goal to help Nigeria win the African U-17 Championships in 2001.

He was a key player at 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship where he scored a hat-trick against Australia and won the Silver Shoe as second highest goalscorer and also the Bronze Ball as third best player in the tournament, helping Nigeria to reach the final where they lost to France.

Femi Opabunmi.

He has been in this state for some time.
Also reminds me of the last days of Rashidi Yekini.

Problem is most of these guys think they can play football and retire at 60 or 65 jst like in every other profession. They often forget the life span of a footballer's career is very short.

Femi simply did not manage his resources well.

I know a good number of footballers that were hit by health set backs very early in their careers but they are not begging today.

Let all well meaning Nigerians come to his aid in any possible way.

lalasticlala and mynd44 u too can play your parts in helping Femi.

Chelsea Loanee Omeruo Rejected Overtures From Siasia To
Represent Nigeria At Olympic Games
Kasımpaşa defender Kenneth Omeruo rejected the
opportunity to represent the Nigeria U23s at the 2016 Olympic
Games when he was contacted by coach Samson Siasia.
This website earlier reported that the Chelsea loanee’s name
was missing from the list of 60 players sent to the Nigeria
Football Federation.
“Siasia contacted Omeruo and asked him if he wants to
play at the Olympic Games. His answer was negative, so
that’s the reason he was dropped ” an official source told
allnigeriasoccer.com .
Omeruo has proved a bright spark since he featured for the
Nigeria setup at the Fifa Under 17 World Cup and his
performance was highlighted when he helped the senior
team win the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
The central defender, 22,would have easily made the Dream
Team VI roster for the competition in Brazil as he is still
within the age limit.
Well then Good Luck to him.
But I know we've not heard the last of that case. Time and events will surely reveal more.

No one doubts his ability and guts. I remember his games at the AFCON against respected names. His injuries have been too many and I will not blame Coach Siasia considering him a risk.
What kind of rigorous routine is that? That will b causing players to limp off the training pitch.

I think it I dangerous towing in the line of Coach Siasia's boys. That was one of the reasons people were blinded to the fact Amuzie played well in the first game against Egypt.

When we work with that mentality, it makes us not notice other reasons for a selection.

Coach Siasia runs a rigorous training method and players like Aaron Samuel, Adi and Chikatara could not cope. He did not drop them to make space for his boys. They could not fit into the system.

So if Coach Siasia drops Balogun and Iheanacho, It should not be because he wanted to play his boys. We should find other reasons why he dropped them.
