Approved:I am telling you. I went for a visa interview last year with four other colleagues for a training, all dressed up in long sleeves and corporate trousers + lace up shoes except for one of us - white Jean trouser, timberland boots and a T-shirt his hair was curly too.Embassy fall our hand o  Mr Timberland got the visa, the whole office said he rigged it!  He met a jovial interviewer and answered his questions right so he got it. No wayo. 1 Like |

Approved:From the much I have read here over the last couple of months, also plan to write TOEFL. Score mightily on the GRE and TOEFL (the higher the better), most people would avoid stating a good score but I would say above Q160 for engineering will be fine. Since we have limited research experience in naija, mighty scores might offset that deficiency to an extent and get one admitted. Hustle for assistantship (naira don cast), you willl have it easier at the embassy for visa (GRE and TOEFL scores help shows you truly wish to attend school and not dissappear in the US), less stress sourcing for funds and more time to focus on your studies. Those practicing for the test this period can start reading from Page91 (too many people claim they cannot read from page1), for insights and recommendations by the 'most recent test takers' -July to October. For engineering schools, I had great help starting my search from here - http://www.findengineeringschools.org/Search/Majors/ - It helped me with the largest pool of schools offering my intended course. Lastly before I forget again, I use an App on my p.c called Wordweb (had it over 2years before writing the GRE). WordWeb quickly provides you with definitions, synonyms and related words as well as readable and audible pronunciations. I downloaded it because I didn't want to leave my p.c looking for a dictionary or going online when I encounter unfamiliar words while reading. Please guys that wrote theirs 2days back. Did u practice with d 2 powerprep tests before ur exam? And please can u share how ur scores in those 2 powerprep tests compare to ur real test score??Powerprep gives an idea of what will be tested on exam day. Exam is simply an application of 'light' reasoning. Normal maths you have been practising all along but you need to reason out how to go about finding a solution. Reason out what method to use. If you don't reason out fast enough a technique to employ to solve a question, you waste valuable time. Doing the calculation (which most times doesn't require a calculator) is fast. |

drhopeful:Thanks. I have already pruned my choice of schools, a 159 might hurt my profile for my current selection. The 'Light' noise comes every 30mins I guess, after they are done with each class. It is not something to worry about, just have it in mind that it will happen and it lasts for a few minutes. |

Though many may dissaprove but my prep and focus has been Quant based.Will edit my summary if I remember anything else. Prepare your mind for noise if writing on a week day (Monday to Friday) in p.h, those school children sabi make noise. Dress light too, no air-conditioning. Na fan dey there o. Very key point - after all your practice, conclude with Manhattan and return back to the ETS practice questions for Q and V to get your mind in the ETS model. It is very close to the actual test but requires a lot of reasoning. How do people score 170 on these tests!?? |

Thanks @Cuspy. @Cephas0009. The difference between ATM-by-PayPal payment and Agency payment is like 30k. I paid someone in the US 66k for Toefl registration, 5days and it couldn't be done. Had not choice than to use an agency I felt was fine and I paid less (50k). 3 Likes |
