PoliticsRe: Rivers Teachers Lament Five Years Unpaid Salaries by idahme(m): 9:06am On Feb 12, 2021
einsteine:
The state government does not get the revenue from the school fees of these schools so why should they be the one to pay the salaries? The tertiary institutions that established the schools should be the one to pay the salaries.

And how does someone owe you 5 years salary? Who goes to work for straight 5 years without getting paid?
They refused the new terms of contract offered I guess and are technically on strike or sacked. The legal issue surrounding this is what I think the government should look into. The tertiary institutions employed them as their employees and then seconded to these schools as teachers. The new policy should have only been with the new teachers employed post 2015 when the policy started. They should have been redeployed back the their territory institutions since these schools are already operating with new teachers anyways.

Neddyogu:
The question is do the affected schools fall under the purview of the state govt or should they be paid from the IGR of the tertiary institutions they're attached to? Where does the school fees paid by the students and pupils go? Is the state education board in charge of those schools? There need to be clear answers to these questions. I need to know so I can direct the thunder to the appropriate quarters with pinpoint accuracy.
The tertiary institutions are solely responsible for the schools including the fees generated .....

Height of wickedness. Yet the governor was donating some funds to northerners. I still will never understand non payment of staff salary though. I don’t believe there’s a justification for it. It’s just plain madness
I guess they are in court for redress, the government changed its policy as regards payement of salaries of schools owned by its tertiary institutions from 2015. The institution were mandated to pay the salaries of schools they set since they are the once who take 100percent of fees payed by the students, ever since the instructions have been responsible for the payment of salaries.
These teachers are the ones that objected to that arrangement which they all have legal basis to, a case is in court on that regard.
As at 2015 when the policy came into effect the best the government should have done is to absolve the teachers into the tertiary institution payroll and allow the institution to employ new staff with a new terms of contract expressly stating it's new policies.

What I suspect is that the teachers have stayed away from teaching technically been on strike from 2015 to date because majority of teachers prior 2015 refused to accept the new terms of contract offered to the by the relevant institution.
Their best bet now is through the courts, I really sympathised with them.

Vardanes2:
Maybe the governor wanted the tertiary institutions to pay the teacher's salaries.

(If I remember, and someone can correct me on this, there has been issues over who funds schools onwed by tertiary institutions...and Rivers isn't the only state with that issue )
Your last statement is what is actually playing out.... The only issue I have with the directive Is that these teachers were duly employed by the tertiary institution as employees and posted to the secondary and primary schools as teachers. The policy would have worked perfectly well if new teachers were employed with new terms of contract bearing the secondary and primary school as tbeir employers and the old teachers given an option to be posted to other areas of the institution...
They should seek redress in court, they have a valid reason to do so.

There was a guy who constantly calls me telling me he loves me. Sometimes i even stopped picking his calls, the disturbance was too much.
Then one day my brother told me if he calls me again, i should ask him for money and he would stop calling and lo and behold i did what my brother said and lol he never called me again..

Even online when chatting with men, once you mention you need money. They block you instantly .. Its funny

If you can't support to someone you love then why you love that person then??

Who else can support you?
You are only a Scammer when you want to exploit affection someone had for you for your personal gain when you have not declared mutual affection for same person. It is only normal for men to run when the lady they toast want to use them for meal ticket when she has no affection for him......

Relationship is mutual, spending is meant for both parties.. As a rule of thumb I disappear from ladies who use validation of spending from men for love without using same criteria for themselves.

To your last question you can only support yourself no one else can do that, know this and know peace.

Gas!

2018, I was in Nasarawa state when on one sunny afternoon I and everyone around heard what sounded like a bomb blast.

We looked towards the direction of the sound and the sky was black. It was as if the keeper of the Abyss had opened the gate mistakenly.

We taught maybe the dreadful terrorist group have entered the state. When we enquired, we were told a big gas plant down the road had caught fire.

Shivers enveloped everyone. We could hear people wailing, parents panicking especially those whose children had gone to school.

I have never seen such sight in my life. Chaos everywhere.

News got to us that one of my sisters was on her way back from school and... cry

She was completely roasted. But yet alive, though unconscious. I prayed to God to kill her.
The pain and anguish was unbearable when she opened her eyes.

She died the next day.

I fear gas pass woman. So many people have been unlucky. This pretty lady is among the lucky few. I am really happy for her and thank God for her life.
What a sad story, gas explosion is something no one should experience. That's why It's always advisable to use blast walls in demarcation between humans and gas to mitigate these catastrophe when it occurs. I felt those sad moment going through ur write up, God strengthen u more.

With the grave allegations against Godwin Akpabio, I don't think a serious and good government will still keep such man in office even till now. I have never seen a man as corrupt as Abubakar Malami. A man whose his sole job is to always denied allegations of corruptions against himself. This Buhari government is a catastrophic one. Even the one termed corrupt government is still even better. A government that's full of lies, nepotism, suffering and bad administration.
It's unbelievable, that Akpabio of a man is corruption personified. Buhari doesn't know whats popping in his cabinet, very appalling.
