Igboid: Anioma is already claimed by Delta North, many of who are suffering from Bini induced ethnic crisis. Someone already suggested "Ikenga Republic", I like the suggestion and think we should consider it. Cc.Igboid Please , what do you mean by "claimed by Delta north"? And who will bear "Ikenga Republic" ? |

Such terrain doesn't exist there for even ESN to come or Herdsmen to build camp.

QuotaSystem: Northerners have proven they're not savage, impulsive anarchists like they've been stereotyped for decades.
There are however, several ways to skin a cat. The northerners ( elites including your Dangote) need Nigeria to stay together for their continuous milking of the Treasury. This has nothing to do with the over 70% northerners living in abject poverty. Your governor's are subtly begging the south east to become the next President. You want Nigeria together for your upkeep but the east don't care if this country burns. Nigeria togetherness benefits you more that us. |

look, I am not interested in trolling, only facts matter to me. Why are you telling me about Igbodo and Anioma traditional rulers whereas I was addressing the regalia of Obi of Onicha which you claimed was all borrowed and the Obi is from Anambra. Who doesn't know that the dressing of the Obi Agbogidi is purely Nri/Anambra styled. Only a history neophyte would not know that. But , just a little education for you. The Anioma before the rise of Bini Kingdom practiced the traditional Igbo style kind of administration until the spread of the Bini empire and influence. Henceforth, the borrowed monarchial system of administration and it's items like the sword and beeded crown. |
Culture › Re: What If Proto-igboid Speakers Entered Igboland From The South? by IDENNAA(m): 3:08pm On Feb 16, 2021 |
AjaanaOka: It is quite plausible that the proto-Igbo word for 'mother' had a '-na' ending. This is based on the the few Igboid lects that still use such forms today.
In Ekpeye, mother is ina. In the Ndele dialect of Ikwere it is nna. In Ogba, it is ona/nna. The rest of the Igboid speech forms (that I am aware of) use words that have a '-ne' ending.
My theory is that proto-Igboid word for mother had a terminal 'na', but that the 'a' shifted to 'e' to avoid confusion with the word for father.
It is not mere coincidence that all the Igbo lects that use a -na word for mother have a '-da' or '-di' word for father. In Ekpeye, father is 'ida'; in Ndele, it is 'ada' or 'nda'; in Ogba it is 'didi' (although nna is also used; perhaps reborrowed recently from the hinterland Igbo).
In much of the rest of Igboid, the word for father had evolved to 'nna'; and perhaps to avoid confusion with mother, a concomitant shifting from '-na' to '-ne' occurred with respect to 'mother'. I don't know how this is relevant to your reply but in Umuoji and Onicha areas we use ineanyi for our mother/nne anyi. It's used interchangeably with nne anyi. Ineanyi/nneanyi |

Obi1kenobi: Your exact context is what I quoted and whether you used "may" or not, you still made a presumption. If I said "the world may have been created by the flying spaghetti monster", your puzzlement at my comment would be no different from what it would be if I said "the world was created by the flying spaghetti monster". You're trying to be too clever for your own good and look ridiculous. Then he doubles the clownery and goes ahead to say that my exact initial assumption was exactly what he was saying by stating the informal sector was not captured. Again, based on what? Your study of NBS methodology? All Nigerian GDP estimations by any institution from NBS to IMF include the informal sector because it is a very large part of the Nigerian economy - the largest chunk of the economy infact. Sectors like Agriculture (which accounts for most of our GDP and employment), trading, real estate, arts and entertainment etc are primarily driven by the informal sector: http://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/download/403 So you're talking nonsense to say it was "not captured"
There are few towns more overrated in Nigeria than Nnewi. I spend all my time in Anambra at yuletide periods around the Onitsha-Idemili North area and I'm also well acquainted with Awka. But I had never been to Nnewi since childhood until touring the place a few years ago and I was surprised at how rural the place was looking: the famous city of billionaires that Anambra braggarts love to beat their chest about. Ogun's industries are not in Abeokuta which is the seat of government and more of a residential area that is more comparable to Awka, so using Abeokuta as your barometer for Ogun economic activity is nonsense. I don't even understand what you're rambling about in the emboldened about Ekiti. Maybe reframe the comment so it could make sense. How Ogun got into debt is not my business and I don't care to research their domestic politics and it is not relevant to the fact that Ogun generates far more in IGR than Anambra. Isi ekwe onwu! Learn to compromise. |

The ancestral regalia of every Obi is the same beeded ancestral regalia as that of the Oba of Benin. That should tell you something. What ancestral regalia are you talking about. Apart from the borrowed sword what else looked anything like Bini there. By the way , Bini didn't invent sword in Nigeria because they weren't the first to fight war. Igbo has been smelting irons way before Bini Kingdom was founded. You guys are very young. Finally, the white clothes the Bini Chiefs and Oba wear were copied from the Portuguese reverend father's Cassock. You Bini people need to keep quiet. You language is even like 70% extinct...lmao |

Culture › Re: The Eze Nris Of Nri Town by IDENNAA(m): 6:47pm On Feb 12, 2021 |
AjaanaOka: Agbala/Agbara is quite a complex concept. I'm not even sure I can give a comprehensive explanation. It is (especially in Southern Igboland) often used in a generic sense to mean spirit-forces/deities.
In my axis (the north) it is used in narrower senses. Agbala is a fertility spirit for us. It is also one of the manifestations of Chukwu, which is why one of the compound names for the high god among us is Anyanwu-na-Agbala (translation may go something like "the sun and the source of all fertility). It is perhaps its connection to fertility that explains why women with progeny are referred to as Agbala Nwanyị. As Agbalanze, Agbala is also connected with titled men and title-taking. This connection I cannot explain.
If there was a semantic connection with Ala/Ana, one would expect that sound laws as regards the use of 'l' and 'n' or 'l' and 'r' in Igbo would apply.
One would expect my people who use Ana to call it Agbana. We call it Agbala however.
And one would expect Chinenye's people who use Ala to call it Agbala. They call it Agbara however.
Ah. Thanks for this. Agbalanze means an ideal/model nze na ozo man. In Umuoji there is only one in each village/ebo. |
