Nice story we've here...I don spread my mat...no shifting for anybody.

If I may say, since you're finding it difficult maintaining the story either in first person or second person, why don't you tell the story entirely in first person using different characters' pov? Like for each scene, you first indicate who's telling the story by using things like PRECIOUS' POV. That way the whole story would be in first person...
