Listen mate, I'm irreligious, so the most convenient thing for me to do, if I were like you, that is, would be to cite the misadventures of the crusaders and the jihadis and conclude that religions make people do evil things. There is an element of truth in that disposition. Religion does enable otherwise sane people to do insane things. But there is more to it. I'm going one step further than just pointing fingers. I'm genuinely interested in knowing the root cause, rather than pontificating with a smug sense of superiority.

I asked you go straight to the quran, read the correct verses for yourself and try to understand them to your own knowledge. Not someone else's view. Most of the time i quote from popular islamic scholars interpretations ( early Muslims commentary in particular) and analyze the verses with information from your hadiths and quran.
However when i copy and paste articles i alway vet it for errors so as not to lie and misrepresent islam. So far zero muslims not 1 has accused me of lieing or dishonesty. .. they have accused me of misinterpretation and yet fail to give me an accurate reinterpretation. Some have even agreed with me.

The teachings are all backed up by the deeds of Mohammed in the hadiths and his words in the quran. And i agree with you , they are completely offensive but while ur scholars say these are the interpretations , you on the other hand claim its misinterpretation.

Teaching # 1: Islam's paradise of evil, demented, depraved sexual perversity
Verse 9:111 – Muslim's passport to paradise
"Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph."
Islam teaches that if Muslims slay or are slain (kill or are killed) in the service of God, i.e. Jihad, they are guaranteed accession to Allah's paradise of depraved sexual perversity. Islam's Paradise is filled with whorish virgins possessing voluptuous bosoms and lustrous eyes. Muslims, blessed with an access to Paradise, will have 72 such virgins to engage in incessant Reproduction. Furthermore, a Muslim's surest way of getting a passport to Paradise, says Allah, is to get slain while trying to kill the kafirs. Indeed, the Quran incites unrestrained murder of infidels and particularly calls for the deaths of atheists and polytheists any where you see them.


Teaching # 2: Kill the infidels wherever you find them
Quran 9:5 (the infamous verse of the sword inciting mass murder):
"Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."
Verse 9:5 teaches Muslims to commit mass-murder. The kafirs must either convert to Islam, who would keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate (zakat), or be murdered. Command for unconditional slaying of humans, God's own creations, by other humans – when presented as a sacred teaching of the almighty Creator – becomes a most evil teaching.
It is needless to say that such teachings never came from the God.

Teaching # 3: Extortion Verse 9:29:
"Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low."
Here, Allah the Islamic God commands Muslims to attack and kill the so-called 'people of the book' (i.e. Jews and Christians), until they are defeated and submitted to the supremacy of Islam and, in willing humiliation, pay jizya (submission) tax to Muslims. Like verse 9:5, 9:29 is a call to mass murder and extermination. Only Hitler had openly instructed his followers to exterminate the Jews so completely. When such a teaching is presented as a teaching of the Creator of the Universe, it becomes extremely evil.

Teaching # 4: Verse 5:32/5:33 – verse of barbaric cruelty
In order to portray Islam as a wonderful religion, Muslim taqqiyah tacticians, including President Obama, will always quote the verse 5:32, which says, "We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind."
Verse 5:32 is a teaching of mass extermination and genocide. When President Barrack Obama gave his speech in Cairo, he quoted from Verse 5.32 "whosoever killeth a human being, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind."
Isn't this a wonderful teaching from a wonderful God worthy of quotation by the President? Wait a moment while I grab my handkerchief and clear the tears from my eyes. It is just such a beautiful teaching. "whosoever killeth a human being, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind."

On the surface it looks like a timeless teaching worthy of a loving God.

But wait a moment. The President did not quote Verse 5:32 correctly. He left out a most important part of the teaching. God has created in his infinite wisdom two exceptions to his teaching." whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind," We can killeth a human being for manslaughter and corruption in the earth and it will not be the killing of all mankind.
And what does the exception "corruption in the land" mean. All human beings who do not convert to Islam have declared war on Islam and Allah, are a danger to Allah, and therefore have created corruption in the land and must be murdered. All Apostates of Islam by rejecting Islam are creating corruption in the land. Muslim women who demand equality with men are creating corruption in the land. All Muslim girls who refuse to obey their fathers by adopting Western culture are creating corruption in the land. It is also important to note that only Muslims are innocent according to the Mohammed and his god. And on and on.
President Obama quoted Verse 5:32 in his Cairo speech as a symbol of the wonderful, wonder of Islam. The President quoted a teaching that justifies the mass murder of non-Muslims.
This is a teaching of madness masquerading as a teaching of love. And how are the kafirs to be murdered for making "corruption in the land." Read the following Verse 5:33
Verse 5:33 says:
"The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom;"
Teachings as contained in this verse – "they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land" – are cruel and barbaric in nature. When those teachings are presented as God's, it becomes extremely evil, no better than those Hitler had committed.

Teaching # 5: Verse 65.4 -- Allah's teaching of pedophilia
Quran 65:4 says:
"And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the 'Iddah (prescribed divorce period), if you have doubts (about their periods), is three months,and for those who have no courses [(i.e. they are still immature) their 'Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise, except in case of death]. And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their 'Iddah (prescribed period) is until they deliver (their burdens) (give birth) and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him."
The most important duty of any species is the care and protection of its young. The prime duty of mankind is to raise children in a safe and caring environment, so they can progress into responsible adults. There is no worse crime than the sexual abuse and exploitation of children. But verse 65:4 clearly approves marriages and sexual Reproduction with pre-pubescent little girls, who haven't started menstruating yet. And Muhammad at the age of 50 duly complied with this sanction of Allah by marrying Aisha, only 6 years old. Mohammed was the original paedophile.

Teaching # 6: Verse 33:50 – sanctioning unrestrained slavery and rape for Muhammad by his Allah
Verse 33.50 says:
"O Prophet! surely We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those [slaves] whom your right hand possesses out of those whom Allah has given to you as prisoners of war, and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts, and the daughters of your
paternal aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who fled with you; and a believing woman if she gave herself to the Prophet, if the Prophet desired to marry her – specially for you, not for the (rest of) believers; We know what We have ordained for them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess in order that no blame may attach to you; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful".
The term "possessions of the right hand" mean slaves. It is expressly stated that Muhammad's slaves, which he attained as a share of the captives in raiding infidels communities, were actually given to him by Allah Himself. And Allah also makes raping them halal for Muhammad (and his Muslim followers).
The verse also gives a special privilege to Muhammad to marry as many wives as he desires, beyond the restriction of four wives for ordinary Muslims. When God's teachings encourage a people to wage wars to capture the women for raping as well as encourages His holy prophet to engage in unrestrained marriage for sexual gratification, there can't be a teaching as evil as this in such matters.

Teaching # 7: Quran's Sanction of Wife Beating
Quran 4:34:
"Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great."
A Muslim woman is the property of her husband. A Muslim husband has the legal right and religious obligation to beat a wife if she disobeys him, is disloyal to him or simply does not please him. The concept of wife abuse does not exist in Islam. There is no concept of martial rape. A Muslim woman cannot refuse sex with her husband. NEVER. If he wants sex she must drop and obey. According to Islamic law, a husband may strike his wife for any one of the following four reasons:
She does not attempt to make herself beautiful for him (i.e. "let's herself go"
She refuses to meet his sexual demands
She leaves the house without his permission or a "legitimate reason"
She neglects her religious duties
Any of these are also sufficient grounds for divorce. These are evil affronts to the idea of equality and dignity of women – very evil teachings, indeed.

Teaching # 8: Allah takes a shares of plundered booty
Quran 8:41
"And know that out of all the booty that ye may acquire (in war),a fifth share is assigned to Allah, - and to the Messenger, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer, - if ye do believe in Allah and in the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Testing, - the Day of the meeting of the two forces. For Allah hath power over all things."
This verse was revealed about how the booty captured in wars – such as after attacking and mass-slaughtering the Jews of Banu Quraiza – would be distributed. And most horribly the Islamic Allah Himself claims a share of the booty along with His prophet. God is the Creator of everything in the Universe. When that God encourages some people to attack and mass-murder others, so He Himself can take a share from the wealth captured from those murder people – no evil can get higher than this.


Teaching # 9: Verse 24:2 – Mohammed and his god approves Adultery and fornication.
Quran 24:2 says:
"The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication, -- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by God, if ye believe in God and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment."
This verse says that Muslims must not have mercy on people, who commit adultery or fornication, and punish them brutally with 100 lashes in public. However, since other verses in the Quran specifically allow men to have sex slaves, the horrible crime of serial rape against a non-Muslim woman is not considered adultery or fornication and would not be punished as the woman would be considered God-given concubine.
Again, what kind of an ignorant deluded person would flog a woman 100 times for having sex with a man if she doesn't provide 4 witnesses if she was raped? Answer, a muslim man.
On the other hand, Islamic god, evil as He is, allows men to force sex upon their unwilling wives (verse 4:34).

Teaching # 10: Teachings of torture, enslavement, beheading cruelty, eye-for-eye …..
There is a gigantic tie for the tenth most evil teaching. There are 3,990 teachings of the Quran that are equally evil. All these teachings are immoral depravity. Not being words/teachings of Moral Perfection - the Quran is not Moral Perfection and therefore not from God, therefore Allah is not God but the AntiGod and Muhammad is no prophet. Can't you see the flaw in your argument. ..u once again condemn Islam while trying to defend it. ..Abraham did that over 3000 years before Jesus. ....we know this because jews were particularly good at keeping and passing records. this was an ancient event even by the time of Jesus. . Jesus was crucified in his 30s and didn't once promote slavery or sexual immortality. .
Jews still had servant at this time but they were commanded to be very fair to them and marry them and if the slave was unhappy the slave was free to leave..how do we know this. Because it is part of the Old law jews lived by to maintain righteousness. Mohammed on the other hand traded slaves, had sex with slaves, adviced on breeding slaves , approved of sleeping with married slaves because the righthand of the Muslim possess ed them. So jews for thousands of years treated slaves well and married them but St Paul in his letters acknowledged slaves where under a yolk and even preached equality as seen in

Galatians 3:28p
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond(slave) nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

This thread was meant to be a peaceful one for me to have civil discussions with my Christian neighbors who have questions about Islam. I opened up my story and have answered a number of questions but I think at this point it has just turned into a thread of insults. I would just like to say one last time that Islam and terrorism is different. Islam teaches peace. Most of us (note that 1.7 billion muslims in the world) believe in peace. To answer the question about the quran being burnt or my prophet being insulted, it makes me unhappy but not angry and violent for I know that this world is but temporary and the best punishment can only come from God. The prophet (saw) spoke of the khawarj "rebels", "terrorists" and called them the dogs of hell fire. Thank you Rich4God and AgentofAllah for your polite discussions. We can use an alternate means of discussing without all the distractions from those who are merely here to insult.

I personally don't see the outrage. Jesus has been depicted every which way by cartoonists in the past and even today in cartoons like South Park. Christians aren't decapitating people over it.

Jesus preached love, forgiveness and tolerance.. Any christain that hurts someone because they criticized jesus ceases to be a christain unless he goes back in repentance. ...... Hypocrites Here are verses from the religion of "peace"

Sahih Muslim 8:29: “IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO HAVE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH A CAPTIVE WOMAN AFTER SHE IS PURIFIED (OF MENSES OR DELIVERY) IN CASE SHE HAS A HUSBAND, HER MARRIAGE IS ABROGATED AFTER SHE BECOMES CAPTIVE.”
Sahih Muslim 8:3432: “Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that at the Battle of Hunain Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) sent an army to Autas and encountered the enemy and fought with them. Having overcome them and taken them captives, the Companions of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) seemed to refrain from having intercourse with captive women because of their husbands being polytheists. Then Allah, Most High, sent down regarding that:" And women already married, except those whom your right hands possess (verse 4:24)" (i.e., they were lawful for them when their 'Idda period came to an end).”

Qur'an (4:24)-"And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." Even sex with married slaves is permissible.

Qur'an (8:69)-"But (now) enjoy what ye took in war, lawful and good" A reference to war booty, of which slaves were a part

Qur'an (33:50)-"O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those (slaves) whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee"

Qur'an (23:5-6)-"..who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess..." This verse permits the slave-owner to have sex with his slaves.

See also Qur'an (70:29-30). The Quran is a small book, so if Allah used valuable space to repeat the same point four times, then sex slavery must be very important to him.

Qur'an (24:32)-"And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among your male slaves and your female slaves..." Breeding slaves based on fitness.
Qur'an (2:178)-"O ye who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the matter of the murdered; the freeman for the freeman, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female." The message of this verse, which prescribes the rules of retaliation for murder, is that all humans arenotcreated equal. The human value of a slave is less than that of a free person (and a woman's worth is also distinguished from that of a man's)

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share my story and invite Christians who have reservations about Islam to post their questions about the religion here so that we can all understand each other more and hopefully as I result I will be able to change the opinions of those of you who look at our religion in such a negative light.

I am a northern Muslim who was born and raised in the United States. Growing up I was always ashamed of being a Muslim because Islam was hated and considered as weird in the society. As a young child I badly wanted to be a Christian because it seemed easier and cooler. My friends didn't know I was a Muslim because I hid that side of myself. I didn't cover my hair, I dressed as my friends did, I wouldn't pray like I was meant to. I didn't get why it was so important to do all those things. I believed that if anything, practicing my religion would just make me unpopular in school and a bully target.
I recall an incident when I was about 6 years old and a friend of mine found an Islamic book in my room. We rummaged through the pages and made fun of the Arabic words, the names we considered to be funny and it was because we were so young and didn't understand it all.
I moved to Nigeria as a teenager and it was here that I felt comfortable being a Muslim. Being around so many other Muslims and Christians who were accepting of the religion made me feel comfortable in practicing Islam. I began covering up, and when I did I felt the importance of it. As a woman, when you cover up you feel as sense of protection. You don't obsess as much about your looks because your body is concealed. No obsessing over how your hair looks, getting attachments all that pressure because no one can see it. I began to pray daily and at doing so I became a happier person. I felt a closeness towards God and a sense of protection and guidance.
I'm ashamed at how I as a child I was embarrassed of my religion. At this point in life I couldn't be more proud to be a muslim. It's still tough being a Muslim in the world today and I know that won't go away soon. But one thing I need you all to understand is the Islam I and a majority of other Muslims practice do not agree with boko Haram and other terrorist groups and their beliefs, the killings, the hatred. We are appalled by their acts even more than Christians are. The fact that they do such heinous acts in the name of our religion which clearly condemns against such.
The more things seem to escalate with terrorism in the country and around the world, the more I observe how Christians are turning against Islam and how southerners seem to distinguish themselves from the "northerners". It breaks my heart because when I moved here Christians were soo accepting of me, the religion. I got the treatment and acceptance from Nigerian Christians more than I could have ever imagined receiving so In America.
I don't choose my friends based on religion or tribe. I love all Nigerians alike. I wish a lot more people could feel the same way too.
Anyways I've gone on for too long. I just wanted to share my story in the hopes that I can shed Islam in another light. I know it is a religion that is misunderstood. If you have any questions please ask, I would love to have peaceful discussions and start a little campaign to get Muslims and Christians across the country to work together and love each other again.

my take on your narration here is that apparently you haven't studied your quran indepth as well as your authentic hadiths, . Infact start with the 2 Most authentic hadiths sahih muslim and sahih bukhari. i hope u know the importance of the hadiths..u need the hadiths to understand the quran. your quran is filled with instructions

You need to listen to a true Muslim in the person of Anjem Choudary, a no nonsense western Muslim living in london. He tells you Islam as it is and that violence is part and parcel of Islam. He is okay with it because he believes his god sanctioned the commands. The man isn't a hypocrite.

On the other hand there are exmuslims like Sam shamoun, Dr Nabeel Qureshi who after spending years studying both the Holy bible and quran came to the conclusion that the quran's god is the antithesis of the true God as well as an anti Christ in disguise(claiming Jesus is Christ but denying he is the son of God) and they have left Islam and become great christain apologetics.

There is also the popular Ali Sina who became convinced the quran was nonsense, and became popular after several Islamic clerics announced his death sentence for questioning Islamic teachings. He left Islam for athesim but after many years of living a godless life he just accepted Christ tho in an unorthodox manner because of his issues with the Bible.
There is the son of hamas author and Dr. Rushdie (the satanic verse ) etc who are exposing Islam every day and giving real arguments even tho they all have fatwas issued on their heads calling for their deaths.

What about the Muslims that killed 17 people in revenge of Muhammad? Is this in the teaching of Islam? where does this madness came from?

If you follow world news you know am talking about the 7-10th of January cold blooded terror that took place in France. They killed people bacause Muhammad was caricatured. And killed 4 Jews and Police. Is this a teaching from the Koran? If no where comes this teaching? They were so proud to die for this. I read a Muslim here posted an article validating this action. WhaWhere comes this madness? I need an answer please.

To understand why they love to kill and die for their god u need to understand just a few passages in the quran


Death in the cause of allah's will is encouraged, supported and promoted as well as fully endorsed in Islam. Let's look at some quran verses and one or two narratives from the hadiths, sahih burhari, one of the most respected and authenticated sources in Islam.

The Qur'an:
Qur'an (4:74)-"Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso FIGHTETH IN THE WAY OF ALLAH, BE HE SLAIN or be he victorious, on him WE SHALL BESTOW A VAST REWARD"

Qur'an (9:111)-"Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, AND SLAY AND ARE SLAIN: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the
Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme."

Qur'an (2:207)-"And there is the type of man who GIVES HIS LIFE to earn the pleasure of Allah..."

Qur'an (61:10-12)"O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous Penalty? That ye believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew! He will forgive you your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and to beautiful mansions in Gardens of Eternity: that is indeed the Supreme Achievement."
This verse was given at the battle Uhud and uses the Arabic word, Jihad.
The dark-eyed virgins are mentioned in several places as well, including verses 44:54 and 52:20.
For those who swing the other way, there are"perpetual youth"verse6:17, otherwise known as"boys"verses52:24and76:19.

Qur'an (17:33)"And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, EXCEPT BY RIGHT"
An important verse that is used by Muslims to not only justify their own deaths, but that of other bystanders who might be believers as well. Like we saw 2days ago when the Muslims in Paris killed a muslim police officer in their quest to avenge their prophet. The end justifies the means, with the goal being the defeat of the kafir, their submission and finally the establishment of Islamic rule.

Qur'an 3:151
Soon shall we cast TERROR into the hearts of the unbelievers, for that they joined companion with Allah...

And fight with them until there is no more filna(disorder, unbelief) and religion should be only for Allah

This is just a little taste of the evil commands in the quran which encourages persecutions, intolerance and prejudice.

Now From the Hadith:

Bukhari (52:54)- The words of Muhammad:"I would love to be martyred in allah's Cause and then get resurrected and then get martyred, and then get resurrected again and then get martyred and then get resurrected again and then get martyred." This is why modern-day Jihadists often say that they love death.

Good morning to you fellow nairalanders. I'm using this avenue, to correct an impression towards Islam the religion of peace in regards to Boko Haran menace that has been troubling our dear country for quite some time. I know many are of the beilieve that the actions of boko haram are related to the religion of peace i.e Islam but that's not true. Its so disheartening when Boko haram claimed of been muslim or were called islamic sect.
Boko Haram have never been true muslims thats if they are because all they do (killing.kidnapping etal) are not supported by Islam. The following quran chapters, are some of the proofs. They are as follows:-
-Q. 2:256- There is no compulsion in religion(boko haram making it compulsory to become muslim is anti islam)
-Q 4:19-O you who believe! It is not lawful for you that you should take women against their will(Boko Haram claiming they've married off chibok girls off is anti Islam because Allah(SWT) forbids it)
-Q 10-99-And if your Lord had pleased,surely all those who are in the earth would have believed;all of them. Will you then force men till they become beilevers ?(There shouldn't be force in making someone believe so BH actions is againt Allah's wish)
100-And its not for a soul to believe except Allah's permission and he cast uncleaness on those who will not understand
-Q 5:32- For this reason did we prescribe to the children of israrl that whoever slays a soul unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men(yet boko haram kept all killing thousands of people).
Boko harams actions are not part of islamic teaching and will never be part of it please my fellow nigerians the Sect is anti Nigeria progress and not anti christianty or anti particular tribe. They've killed as much muslims as they've killed christians. They've killed pastors, priests also imams and Mualeems.

How many chapters have u read from your sources. .Sahih hadiths , quran etc. .. the days you Muslims deceived kafirs with friendly looking verses is OVER ... it's 4 am here so I won't bother tearing down the falsehood in all the verses you cited but I shall pick one...

From Qu'ran 5:32, “...If anyone slays a person, it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.”

Now let's look at a popular early Muslim interpretation;

According to the highly respected Qur'anic exegesis of Ibn Kathir- early Qur'anic commentator and Tabi'un, Sayid ibn Jubayr (who lived at the time of ProphetMuhammad, and was a companion ofAisha), had said:
[فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيعاً]
.....Sa`id bin Jubayr said, "He who allows himself to shed the blood of a Muslim, is like he who allows shedding the blood of all people. He who forbids shedding the blood of one Muslim, is like he who forbids shedding the blood of all people."

**So early understanding of the verse claims it applies only to shedding the blood of a believer(Muslim). This can be disputed so let's go back to the Qu'ran.

The Fuller context says;

Qu'ran 5:32-34, "On that account: Therefore we prescribed for the Children of Israel that who so slays a soul not to retaliate for a soul slain, nor for corruption done in the land, shall be as if he had slain mankind altogether; and who so gives life to a soul, shall be as if he has given life to mankind altogether. Our Messengers have already come to them with the clear signs; then many of them thereafter commit excesses in the earth.
This is the recompense of those who fight against God and His Messenger, and hasten about the earth, to do corruption there: they shall be SLAUGHTERED, or CRUCIFIED, or their hands and feet shall alternately be STRUCK OFF; or they shall be banished from the land. That is a degradation for them in this world; and in the world to come awaits them a mighty chastisement,
except for such as repent, before you have power over them. So know you that God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate."

*** Notice how you can slay a person if the person spreads corruption in the land or as some translations call it, "mischief". This "corruption in the land" or "mischief" can mean anything such as Preaching the Gospel of Christ, making Muslims uncomfortable by questioning the Qu'ran or Muhammed, drawing Mohammed, supporting western education etc This has therefore been an excused used by Jihadists like BokoHaram, ISIS, Hamas, hezbollah, Al shabba, Alqueda etc to murder, kill and destroy.

Finally a very brief explanation of the verse by an Ex-Muslim-

We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person -unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land- it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

Salient points:
1 - It explicitly states that this was a commandment to the Children of Israel, i.e. the Jews! This is not a commandment to all people, and it certainly should not be misused as if this is Allah's command to Muhammad's people.

2 - Even if this were a command to the Muslims, there's still an escape clause: "unless it be for murder or spreading mischief in the land." If someone is "spreading mischief", he can still be killed. Now let's think for a moment. The would-be Times Square bomber considers Americans to be spreading mischief in Palestine and around the world (practically all Muslims I know think this, even the ones who are American citizens). Accordingly, even if this verse were to apply to someone like Faisal Shahzad, he would still be justified in his slaughter.
As if this weren't obvious enough from the verse itself, the Qur'an further expounds this point in the very next verse. 5:33 says
The punishment of those who wage war against God and His Apostle, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.
This verse is referring to the Muslims, not the Jews anymore, as we can tell in the shift from past tense to present tense. And here, the punishment for mischief is clearly prescribed: execution, crucifixion, mutilation, or at the least, exile. This is the command given to the Muslims. Quite clearly, it does not teach what the Muslims proclaim it teaches; in fact, it teaches almost the exact opposite.
It is undeniably clear that, in order to make Islam seem peaceful, Nazam and many other Muslims rip this verse out of its context, take words out of the very verse itself, changing the entire message for something else. I wonder if they know they are guilty of Surah 5:13.
In any case, we should not let ourselves (or anyone who might be interested) be deceived by the popular Muslim interpretation of these verses.
