dozymars: The Lagos State Government should also shut down this road if they are truly sincere.

This road have long been neglected.

Very shameful site along Ago Palace way, Okota.

We cannot go on living like this.

The water hardly dry up, No drainage.

If Ladipo can be shut down due to its filthiness then this road should be shutdown for repairs.
i thought that the ago palace way in okota, is repaired,
I am disappointed with Fashola, how could he even think of closing the market because it is dirty. A reasonable government should employ some CLEANING COMPANIES that will be cleaning up the area and have those people at the market to pay. This will not only keep the market clean, but will also create employment for people. That is a very daft decision and should not be applauded. Nigerian leaders always looking for easy ways
at least somebody came up with and idea.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Motorized Patrol On Lagos-ibadan Express. No Overtaking by ifebosco: 11:45pm On Feb 08, 2013
kingoflag: Very stup.I'd idea.

This is what should've done instead:

1. Have a database with the information of every car/driver. Force the states to start maintaining such records so it can be accessed on a whim by Federal law enforcement (since States don't enforce Interstate highway rules in backwards aszzz Nigeria). Give financial incentives to states that comply by a set deadline, appraise and affirm penalties against those that don't.

2. Encourage the States to build and maintain modern traffic courts.

3. Give the highway patrol officers computer access in their vehicles that can check on the identity of every speeding driver they accost by accessing the databases suggested above in real time. They don't have to slow down traffic like they are fo.olishly doing in the pic. Give them radar guns to be able to spot speeders. They can write you a ticket based on whatever speeding violation they allege you've committed and they can send you on your merry way; this is after entering all your info--- and the amount which you are expected to pay for your violation--- into the database from the computer in their car. If you dont pay the ticket amount, or dont show up for your hearing in court ( on the date stated on the ticket) to explain to a judge why you shouldnt pay, a warrant for your arrest is then issued and entered into the database. Next time you're accosted by any law enforcement officer, for any reason, anywhere in the country, once your name pops up the database will reveal that you have a warrant that calls for your arrest; you'll be immediately taken into custody.

Putting Nigeria onto the right path to sanity and development is actually not that hard, all that's required is investment in the right places instead of idiotic endeavors like N16billion guest houses for the V.President, or N4billion halls for an illiterate First lady that can't make a proper complete sentence and is a disgrace(like her husband) to Nigerians everywhere.

Truth be told, Nigeria, you need Buhari. That's the only way corruption can be stemmed and the monies being yielded by the country be put to proper use instead of ending up in the pockets of a few dense individuals who don't see the advantages of an orderly, and properly run society. Just one Buhari term and it is my utmost belief that the country will be back on its way to greatness.
at least the is hope for nigeria when i read people like you

take dat: God bless you, Intelligent dude. Its a shame when ordinary citizens encourage government to buck pass its own dereliction of duty to average Nigerians, expecting you and I to take up the failings of a government elected to perform and earning huge emolument!
don´t mind him, his trying to be sentimental on our brother president.but 3years is enough for any government to change nigeria.gej as a president, his too slow and have too many corrupt people around him.
PoliticsRe: A Nairalander's Ilorin To Lagos Train Experience by ifebosco: 12:34am On Feb 08, 2013
Justcash: All of you that are blaming GEJ for this one are very daft. He is refurbishing the rail system. Is it not the duty of the masses to guard and ensure that these infrastructures are operated efficiently? The people that are to blame for this rot are;
A. The masses that prefer to hang like monkeys on top of the coaches instead of sitting like decent people inside.
B. The inefficiency of the masses that got employed after these trains were brought back to life.
C. The illiterate masses that cannot just be patient on order for the coaches to be operated within its capacity.
D. The preference of the masses for short cuts even if it implies indulging in corrupt practices.
E. The chaotic orientation of the Nigerian masses.
F. The Spineless masses that cannot exercise their civic rights by demanding for orderly conduct through legal means.

Everything is not about the FG. You will just be surprised at the kind of criticism and antagonism that will come from the masses following any plan by the FG to restore order through coercion. Nonsense.

tomakint: For the records, I am not a fan of any party be it PDP, ACN, APGA, CPC and all that! But this Jonathan, he will always have my support, I see Jonathan as that man who will eventually break the monopolization of Nigerian party politics into shreds, not even the merger of the other parties can fix this country's problem. In the area of basic amenities; potable water, power supply, working private sectors, good roads, etc previous governments have failed us but would rather leave Nigeria worse than the way they met it! Now Jonathan has began to work on those ailing basic amenities destroyed by previous governments, but goons in the house will not let him rest!
please sir, list his achievements in 3years.for skeptics like us
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Plans Floating Cities In Niger Delta by ifebosco: 12:11am On Jan 28, 2013
PapaBrowne: Ok. How do I begin now to explain to you that the article you have fallen for is a ploy by Jonathan's enemies to make him look like a directionless and sectionist president with outlandish aspirations!
First, if you read my article, I didn't comment on the Floating cities. My comment was on electoral reforms.

Now let me explain. Compass Newpaper(the originator of the article) belongs to Gbenga Daniel(OGD).  OGD is working towards an IBB presidency. The only way for IBB to become President is to make Jonathan unsellable to the Nigerian public. And incase you don't know, that is the purpose of this article. And it has already started working on you. Its a pity.

FYI, anytime the FG comes out with any plans, Ima Niboro(Special Adviser on Media) or any of the Ministers serve as the mouthpiece. This article is telling us that presidency sources are the ones telling them. Isn't that signal enough??

Please, lets learn to read btw the lines. Don't just follow headlines.
I took time to explain to you because I percieve U as someone that is quite logical in reasoning and advanced in thinking.

As for the talk on Socialism, yes,the average Nigerian is socialist by inclination. And they hate big projects.
you make some sense in your comment, but vast majority of nigerians are religious and conservative, very few are socialist

The Nigerian government budgeted some $250 million for the training colleges annually, but most of the funds are embezzled by top police officers in the country

Watermelon: why do we blame our leaders for every misfortune in this country,I am sure so much money was budgeted for the maintenance of those structures but the money somehow found its way into the police officers pockets. What about our "i don't care" attitudes to public utilities, somebody messes up a public utility and does't think it is wise to tidy up for the next person and the cycle goes on, you piss on the wall, poo on the floor, wet every where and you expect your leaders to come and clean up for you even when your own health is at risk. What a country
please im tire to hear from people like you who pass the blame of our uncivical atitude to the comon man on the streets.you are wrong, becuase the comon man on the streets, needs the goverment to educate him/her and put up institutes that will discipline us when due.we donñt have this in nigeria and you are here insulting extrem poor people.our generation is going to suffer, if we don´t send the right massage to our political elites
