Family › Re: Problems In Marriage: We Need To Talk About This by ifyalways(f): 5:25pm On Nov 01, 2012
I can only talk about "post marriage"

1. Patience, not all battles are worth fighting.why shout about the position of a wet towel, toilet lid/cover, dirty socks when you can easily place it in its rightful position?sometimes, its good to see your spouse as your lil' baby that needs your constant support to keep to the right track.

2. Don't cage each other. You were individuals first before couple, give your spouse space and encouragement to be her/him self.couples should draw strenght from their individuality not fight it. Love is a free bird.

3. No one is perfect. Bearing this in mind already opens up your heart to forgive wholly. Reprimand one another when there is failure but please lift each other up too.

4. Be the best friends and buddies. This is where honesty comes in. If you can't share your sexual fantasies, jokes, dreams and aspirations with your spouse who else would you tell?

5. Love. Fall in and out of love with your partner. Its allowed! Lol
Family › Re: Men! What's Happening To Your Birthright? by ifyalways(f): 4:51pm On Nov 01, 2012
bibigirl07: It has come to my notice that more and more MEn are beginning to neglect their Responsibilities and pushing it to their wives. Every morning, whilst I do my road-walk, I keep seeing this thirty-something year old woman packaging her 4 kids to schl as early as five am in a bid to avoid the traffic, the husband sleeps at home all day, doing nothing. He keeps spinning yarn that he is a contractor bla, bla, bla, yet for the past five years he hasn't done any job. His wife pays the bills, house rent, school fees, car maintenance and purchase, clothings and all. How do u expect such a woman to retain the respect for her man? A man is respected and adored for his ability to be the breadwinner, to be the protector, the head while the wife supports. Woman are wired to nurture, not to manufacture. Your wife becomes the breadwinner and u are surprised when she starts acting like a man? What are ur constructive opinions on this pressing issue...
sorry oh but the woman complain give you?

You be wizard/witch?how did you know all that much about this family (the man is a lazy contractor, the woman pays all bills) merely by bumping into the woman daily?

PS:this comment of "what you have against Only Truth. . ." is grossly annoying. What could I possibly have for or against him?
Check "team O's" profiles, do they come across like people I can entice to fight anyone?don't go there. I voted them cos they are independent minded adults. I have zero dreams of influencing them, I can't influence them/their decisions, even if I tried.

For some others that have joined the pity party train or doing selective reading, it won't be bad if y'all go back and read the other thread with an open mind.

I state categorically that I never insulted anyone FIRST. I've not modified my posts, check!

Someone, a guy said that before he'll cast his vote, he wants to know the achievements of Only Truth on his 1 year tenure. I quoted him and said I want to know too.

Snap! Only truth came hard on me as if we had prior issues. he went "are you blind, go and check page 1 and 2 of this thread, why ask when you bolted from the cabinet, you are insane" bla bla. Just cos I asked a question?!

And ify replied and became a villian?none of you deemed it fit to call him to order then. Was he expecting me to not reply him and run off the thread? Nke o ji buru Onye?

And oh, Nwa uwa, you've got eyes. Nice observation.
Its only when the coin is tossed and swings the other way that the "elders" suddenly remember its time to talk peace.

PointB and 9ja I hail, where were you guys when some other Igbos were insulting Odumchi and Ogugua?they've been continously called all sorts of degrading names here, I ask, where were you guys?so long as you guys don't get off your "selective and highly hypocritical peace making mission" , this is a cycle that won't stop. When Odumchi and Ogugua was insulted by miscreants and foot soldiers from the "favoured" side, no one thought of scrapping the office of the eze but oh, now, we are thinking of scrapping it now cos you got dished a dose of the food you cooked and served?

Make I lol first!

You want peace?call both parties to order
Don't sit smugly on the fence acting blind when its Adamu then preach peace when its Hassan.

I'm neither crying more than the bereaved nor speaking for anyone, heavens forbid! I believe and know that "team O"(odumchi and Ogugua) are more than capable but I'm only doing my nld civic duty which is voting wisely, protecting my vote and mandate. Just like the other parties are equally doing.

La Paris, I loved your other post, especially how you described a womans place/role in her home. Very well put.

Men can claim all they want but it takes a "touch" from a good woman to get them sing and dance to our tunes. Every wife ought to know that.

Can we get the meaning of feminism?

Speaking as an ordinary layman, I'll say that feminism is not just un African but also created to spite the black woman. Feminism(how its largely understood and carried on here) portray women as oppressed, powerless, confused and unable to take charge of their lives. Its even safe to say that feminism is coined by "certain" group of women so they can dominate over and project their counterparts as weak, to see them as a "problem to be solved" that's a twisted mental struggle, IMO.
The African woman might not be ambitious(we can't deny that we live in a patriarchal society) but we surely are not entirely without vision or goal.

My views would change when I get a clear definition of feminism for an African woman .
