Update
Chioma is yet to decide on the home to take her daughter to and is NOT open to the suggestion of involving/telling her parents now.(she says she would do so herself when she is done with her exams)
She has the contacts of an Orphanage,Mutter's lawyer friend and welfare so its gonna be an easy route for her whenever she decides.
NLD charity are NOT so far involved in Chioma's case.
Anyone that wants to help or contact Chioma should do so on this thread.I believe Chioma would respond accordingly.
I and CC(she sent someone) have seen Chioma, advised her and given our widows mite however along the line, somethings came up which I for NOW,dont understand so after seeking counsel from Mutter's lawyer friend, this update is necessary.

God bless us all.
Family › Re: How Is Divorce Obtained Under Islamic Law by ifyalways(f): 6:34pm On Jan 25, 2012
You'd get detailed replies @ Islam for Muslims section.

Its basically 3 steps.
Initiation:Pronouncing Talaq to your wife publicly.
Reconcilation:Family and friends come in and initate reconcilation. The couple makes love within this period and the divorce pronounciation is voided.
Completion:If after a certain time(i think 60 days) from day of intiation and reconcilation, the couple are yet to settle their differences then the divorce takes effect.

Btw,hope this is not about you?

Mutter, your lawyer friend is Godsent, very helpful.

Our conclusion today are:
Chioma is NOT going the adoption route.
Mutter's lawyer friend would take her to welfare morrowwhere she would be getting counselling and the legal aspect of her situation sorted out.

Hopefully, with the Documents and legal aspect dealt with,it would be easy to get a home for the baby.

CC,for her needs,I can't say much now till i see her this evening.Yesterday's meeting was quite brief and been the first time, she was taking her time to open up to me.

@ all, Chioma does NOT want to give up her daughter for adoption so that closes the adoption chapter.
Some things we all should consider are: she is in her final year in a private university.
She is 24.
Her parents would come around and accept the child but NOT now.
She needs a place to keep her baby for say 6 months. She would be writing her final exams soon.
Her parents are in Lagos.
She just confided in me that she is a little bit broke.

@mutter, I called your friend and she said, we would still have to go to welfare but she is willing to go all the way to the welfare with us then probably help her get a home.
I would be seeing her again this evening.

Exactly Jenny.Such decisions are not meant to be taken in a haste. She has to think it through.
No,her parents had no idea she was pregnant much less having a child.
Family › Re: A Baby Girl,she Is Just A Week Old. by ifyalways(f): 9:55am On Jan 23, 2012
@Mutter,Cool.All options and advise welcome.

How do we get her contact  ? OK you can mail me via nairalandcharity@gmail.com
Make baby the subject.

@Jenny,Now she is saying she wants adoption. But you know, emotions are not stable now.We are trying to see if she can keep in a home first then take time to decide on the adoption stuff.

Her major problems are strict parents who would never accept or understand, means of taking care of the child then the social stigma associated with single parenthood.
All in all,if we explore all options and a one off adoption  is the best or her choice then so shall it be.

Come to think of it,is it remotely possible the husband have a hand in all these  undecided

If the hubby fed the mama tales of he making all the money while the wife is just a leech, gives her the assurance that she can shop as much as she wants then add that to the fact that DIL. MIL relationship is shaky then the MILs behavior is not surprising.

I think the OP has to talk with her husband and work on her relationship with MIL.
Family › Re: A Baby Girl,she Is Just A Week Old. by ifyalways(f): 9:35am On Jan 23, 2012
That decision is for Chioma but ultimately its either adoption or keeping in an orphanage home.
Im leaning more on keeping in a home first.

Thing is ,we either get it done rightly or she would still dump the baby somewhere. Its all about the child now.

pslm23:
My first reaction at reading Chioma's story was shock, then worry for her and then fear for the baby.
After CC and Ify intervened, I was relieved and shed a few tears because that baby now had a chance at having life and growing up.
You women are heaven sent! God bless and bless you 2!

@Chioma, "ebezila akwa, obi sie gi ike"
You are a brave, strong woman, yes you made a mistake in getting pregnant but your actions after the birth of this child has redeemed you. I could give you a big hug right about now!
Chioma is not Igbo.

@All,I think my last post yesterday was not clear enough.
What we practically did yesterday was to assure Chioma that she is not alone,we are here to support her and convince her not to dump the baby at an unsafe place
Ok,we got to know where and when she actually had the child, physical examination by a Gyn to prove that she just had a child etc.
As i type, the child is still safely with her, though her mindset is better now and shes calmer too.The baby is going for immunization today after which i would go with her to the social welfare services to make everything legit and documented.Little saints cannot accept the child or any other credible home without proper documentation from social welfare services.

At the end of the day,Chioma truthfully cannot cater for or take care of the baby now . . . FACT so what we are working towards now is not necessarily adoption but a place where the baby would be well tended to till chioma makes a permanent decision.

OP,Your MIL's behaviour could be because she grudgingly accepted you as a DIL.Tough luck, you can't change that.Btwn before the marriage was contracted, did u make any effort to get to know ur MIL or u did Not see the need to hence you don't care?

Money.Hmmn but u stated u only work part time.Is ur husband taking good care of the homefront, respects all his finanial obligations? If yes then ur rant is abnormal.Besides if u are in ur hubys position, working 6 days wud u NOT send money to ur family back home if u see them as one of ur priorities plus wud u NOT label ur husband 'selfish, lazy and inconsiderate' if he raises an eyebrow on how u spend ur OWN money?

Bobo prolly dey wet ground for eventualities u dey hia dey voke sango.

All is well that ends well.

Chioma,Now you know better. No condom,no shifting of pant. You are now a young mother and have a bright future ahead, let today and the birth of your baby be a motivating force.Goodluck in ya studies and stay safe.Don't forget you are now a mother,in everything u do.Check up on her as much as possible and give urself enough time to heal emotionally before you decide on the adoption ish.

@Siena,Sisi,Ivy,CC,Cotton,Amen and Gods blessings on us all.

Culture › Re: Will New Generation of Nigerian Leaders Continue The Same Culture Of Corruption? by ifyalways(f): 7:49pm On Jan 22, 2012
Aluta continua!

A corrupt free country would start from the home,to the church/mosque down to the mkt/school/office.

The popular street slogan is "the end justifies the means" . . .No one wants to know how many heads rolled so long as you give them a few pennies, all's well.

A corrupt free Nigeria would start the day parents stop failing in their duties as parents, stop mounting unecessary pressure on their wards to "go out and hit big like others" and not look the other way when their kids are erring.

Like Charity,Corruption begins at home.

^Intresting.
Lets pick it one at a time. . .
what is Igue in Onicha lingo and what do you think "Iya aselle" means to an Onicha man?

What is the connecting dot between "ve" eg ive(ife) that Onichans use and Bini?Plus last I checked, most parts of Idemili down to Alor use "r" in place of "l",all of them had Bini roots ?

Lastly, you are neither in the romance section nor sending an sms to your pal, type in easily legible letters.Thank you.

^No oh.Atleast If she takes my advice and reach Rev George.

I'm not planning on taking the child from her either so nope, financial help not needed.Thank you.

@Chi,I want to believe you've talked to Rev. George? You don't have nothing to fear or worry about.Your baby would be in safe hands. You'll only have to sign some documents and ofcourse, they must be convinced the baby is actually yours, take care of you, health and emotions, reconcile u with ur family and u can always go see ur baby in future.

grin You went for approval from your GF's biz partner?lol but that is your first and most important fvck up.

You know what dude?Have u tabled out all your fears and insecurities with ur girl and what is she saying?
If the man is an ex(according to them),still a principal partner(they see often) and wields so much authority/influence on your girls personal life then its either you accept your position as secondary partner/2nd fiddle or you man up,talk with ur girl and then go talk to the 'big boss'.walking is another option.

If they are done with each other emotionally, why is he still interested in the babe's private life?.Something tells me that you know the truth . . .and still hanging on to that relationship for reasons best known to you.aka living in denial and praying/hoping for change
