At its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting currently on-going in Akwa Ibom State, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) this morning bestowed on the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel the “NMA Health Ambassador Award”, Igbere TV reports.

In a citation read by its National President, Dr. Francis Adedayo Faduyile, Governor Emmanuel was lauded and celebrated for being a doctors’ and health -friendly Governor.

The National President commended the Governor for the massive investments he has made in the health care sector through the rebuilding, remodelling and reconstruction of numerous previously abandoned hospitals in the State, equipping them with modern amenities and fully digitalizing their operations.

While bestowing the award on the Governor, Dr. Faduyile hoped the feat performed by the Governor in health care delivery services in the State could be replicated all over the nation.
This award by the NMA on Governor Emmanuel is a testament to his nationally recognized bold approach at improving the health care services in Akwa Ibom State.

He has always said that given the industries that he is attracting to the State to have the required manpower, a healthy population is needed for the jobs that are being created by these industries.
Governor Udom Emmanuel will continue to do the right thing for the good people of Akwa Ibom State across sectors to the eternal grief of those who have sworn to push lies and malicious propaganda driven mainly by political and selfish considerations on his impactful and sterling performance. Credible information at Igbere Tv’s disposal reveals that the Nigerian military authorities have organised a secret burial for over one hundred officers and soldiers who lost their lives during terrorist attacks on Nigerian Army 157 Task Force Battalion in November 2018.

our correspondent was told by one of the widows of the officers that the burial would take place in Maiduguri on Friday.

It was, however, learnt that the army wanted the event to be private so that the real number of slain soldiers will not be known.

One of the widows who spoke to the Punch on condition of anonymity said , “I was invited for the burial of my husband with a few others this Friday in Maiduguri.

“Sincerely, we don’t even know how many will be buried and the army is not giving us any information.”

A colonel, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the army decided to make the burial private in order to hide the true casualty figure.

He said, “Gen Buratai said only 23 soldiers were killed in the attack. He also put the number of troops wounded in action at 31. However, we all know that is not true. Over 100 were killed and a private burial is now being organised in order not to expose their lies.”

When our correspondent called the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.Gen Sani Usman, for comment, he cut all calls, asking our correspondent to send a text message instead.
However, he refused to respond to a text message sent to him as of press time.

Lt. Col. Ibrahim Sakaba had died alongside over 100 soldiers on November 18, 2018.
His younger brother, Lt. Yakubu Sakaba, was also killed by Boko Haram on October 5, 2014.
In a video circulated recently, soldiers deployed in the war-ravaged North-East blamed obsolete equipment and corruption among top military brass for the massive losses in personnel since the latest attacks on military formations began in July.

The dreaded militant group, Boko Haram in the early hours of Wednesday attacked the Bukawa Military Base in Maiduguri, Borno state killing scores of Nigerian troops and looting military hardwares, Igbere TV has learned.

Sources say the attack which caught the army by surprise saw the militants carting away some Armoured Personnel Carriers, (APC), Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG’s) and other military hardwares.

The army recorded some unspecified number of casualties while scores were captured by the insurgents and taken as “prisoners of war”.

A source in Maiduguri who asked not to he named due to the sensitive nature of the crisis said, the attack has not only exposed the complicity of some top military brass of the Nigerian army who are working for the insurgents and making brisk business for themselves out of the war against Boko Haram in the North East but has also demoralised and weakened the moral of the men in uniform fighting the insurgents.

“All is not well with the war the military high command is pursuing the war against Boko Haram in the zone. The war against Boko Haram is now business where some top military generals make money at the expense of national security and the welfare and lives of the soldiers in the front line”.

” The officers on the front line are not motivated because of the politics of the war. Soldiers from the Southern part of the country are sent to Maiduguri to fight and die while Northerners are deployed to promote and protect oil facilities in the Niger Delta region. This is one dubious politics that has undermined the army’s ability to contain the insurgents and win the war which is getting worse by the day despite the billions of naira spent to prosecute the war” said a military source in Maiduguri.

The source said, the failure of Nigerian troops to contain the insurgents and the frequent invasion of military base and carting away of equipment by the terrorists is adding another dangerous dimension to ongoing war, as having new military hardwares and technology falling into the hands of terrorists poses a much bigger threat to not just the security of Nigeria but the entire region that is battling with porous borders and lack of inter-agency cooperation from neighboring countries in the region.

In a related development, an investigation by The Next Edition, an online newspaper, has reported that Nigerian security operatives are significantly sabotaging the government’s efforts to eliminate Boko Haram as they aid the funnelling of huge volumes of petrol and other fuel products to the deadly group.

According to Mr Ibanga Isine, the soldiers, police, customs, immigration and civil defense operatives frequently receive bribes and turn a blind eye as fuel marketers and smugglers divert truckloads of petrol and foodstuff to Boko Haram enclaves in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.
During interviews with security operatives, marketers and undercover exploration of the dark market, the newspaper obtained details of the well-coordinated transactions and is able to provide a glimpse into a largely unreported and unregulated operation that has clearly fed the insurgency in the Northeast and helped prolonged the nine-year war.

The reporting has also shown the impact of the large-scale murky operation on the nation’s petro-economy.

Highly classified sources said not fewer than 60 trucks loaded with petrol and an equal number carrying foodstuff illegally leave the country through Adamawa State daily.
This newspaper learnt that Boko Haram insurgents get their food and fuel supplies from the diverted products.

Each day, operatives of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Customs Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, manning the many checkpoints across Adamawa State extort bribes ranging from N500 to N300, 000 from motorists in order to allow them to pass regardless of the vehicle convey .

The smuggled fuel is sold at lucrative rates either to the Boko Haram insurgents, a group that has waged war against the Nigerian state since 2009, or is ferried across the border.
Today, Nigeria’s subsidised petrol and foodstuff are being illegally sold in countries such as Cameroon, Niger, Chad and in the Central African Republic.

The military sources said Boko Haram has relied on such smuggling fuel to power their vehicles and motorcycles when going for attacks.

Repeatedly, security services in Borno, Gombe and Yobe have either arrested suspected Boko Haram fuel suppliers or seized huge consignments of petroleum products believed to have been procured for the militants.

In July 2016, the Army in Borno State arrested a man it said was a supplier of fuel to Boko Haram.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the suspect was arrested with a truck loaded with 25 jerry cans of petrol and other goods cleverly covered in cartons.

In January 2018, the NSCDC in Borno State said it seized 1,000 litres of petrol from suspected Boko Haram fuel suppliers. The NSCDC Commandant, Ibrahim Abdullahi, told the NAN that the products were filled into jerry cans and concealed in sacks. In June, the Army said it arrested two other men in Gombe for allegedly selling large quantities of fuel to Boko Haram. Concealing fuel-filled containers under sacks would turn out a common method for hiding smuggled or diverted products in neighbouring Adamawa as this investigation has shown.

Former APC members in Akwa Ibom allege threat to lives

Some decampee leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom have revealed that Senator Akpabio and other leaders of the party planned to rig the 2019 election in the state, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

The former APC members who dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday also raised alarm over alleged threat to their lives.

The former APC members led by Mr Joseph Amah, made the allegation at a press conference on Tuesday, in Uyo, the state capital.

Amah claimed that they were molested by hoodlums suspected to have been sponsored by the APC while returning home from the rally where they announced their defection.

He said a vehicle belonging to a former chapter chairman of Nsit Atai was vandalised while his colleagues from Ibesikpo Asutan, Eket, Ikot Ekpene and other former APC chiefs were harassed.

He said, “Our members came out and celebrated their freedom from political oppression and unending impunity as being practised in the APC.

“Thereafter, as our people were heading home to share the good news of redemption with their kith and kin, they were molested on the road by hoodlums sponsored by the APC.

“In Nsit Atai, the former chapter chairman’s vehicle was attacked and his tyres destroyed. In Ibesikpo Asutan, Eket and Ikot Ekpene, the former APC stalwarts were harassed and intimidated. This ugly situation is most reprehensible and must be totally condemned.

“This press conference is to alert the entire public that if anything bad happens to us, the leadership of the APC in the state should be held responsible.

“Having not yielded to their pressure to remain in their party, they have resorted to threats and violence. In the days ahead, we will expose the contents of the play book of the APC and how they hope to overrun the state with federal might.”

Heavy Explosion Rocks Catholic Church In Umuahia(Photo)

There is currently a heavy tension in Umuahia following an explosion that rocked Mater Dei Catholic Church, Azikiwe Road, Abia state.

Igbere TV correspondent who visited the scene of the incident reports that the explosion which occurred in the church premises at about 2:45pm, caused pandemonium in the area as residents scampered for safety.

Igbere TV gathered that the explosion was caused by an old abandoned petrol tank which had been buried and long forgotten. The church gardener, after his routine clean up was said to have burnt the refuse directly where the tank was buried, triggering the explosion which affected roofs of houses around the cathedral.

As at the time of writing this report, no life was however affected by the incident.

Outrage As Old Man Marries Young Girl In North(photos)

There is currently an outrage online after these pictures of 70 years old man getting married to a young girl emerged online.


A Facebook user, Hamisu Danladi who shared the pictures online asked for help in order to eradicate the early which is rampant in the north.

In his words,

"The picture is not of grandfather and his granddaughter!

It's a newly married couple!

Who will save the North from this � Recklessness? � �".

Igbere TV also gathered that the wedding took place on Monday in Lapai, Niger State, with family and friends in attendance.

The 70yrs old man, Mr Chanji, also known as Nafsi-Nafsi in Minna city, earned the sobriquet “Chanji” for his frequent divorces and replacement of wives.

“He is a philanthropist in Kwangila area of Minna. He has contributed immensely to the community, especially the building of the community mosque.

“We call him Chanji because he regularly ‘changes’ wives. In my knowledge, he married at least 12 times, but other people say it could be up to 20 times.



“What we know is that he always keeps four wives in his house. Once he divorces one, or one of them dies, he immediately picks a replacement,” said a source who preferred not to be named.

Ahead of 2019 General Election, leaders of several women groups in Bende have unanimously endorsed the candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Chima Anyaso and vowed to come out in mass and vote for him.

Speaking to Igbere TV, Ambassador J. O. Ejindu who was present during the event described Anyaso as a philanthropist who has a sacrificing spirit. He also noted that Anyaso has invested much towards human development.

"We, the good people of Bende have unanimously agreed to vote DR. Chima Anyaso , who is known for his philanthropical gestures, and who has been sacrificing his preference for overall interest of  the people."

"Anyaso is the only candidate who has invested much towards human development."

"We need practical representation to meet the demand of the people  because their expectation  is high and have nothing to do with theory of debate that is mere status symbol without responsibility." Ejindu said.


The leader of the women said they voluntarily decided to endorse Anyaso, noting that he has touched many lives.

She also said that their support for Anyaso is just getting started because they will everything possible to see that he gets to the national assembly.

More pictures of the substance(poison) which the Imo State University undergraduate took that led to her death have emerged.

According to an eyewitness, Jennifer Agomuo took the poison after stabbing her boyfriend.

In his words,

“A student of our school has taken her own life. She was studying computer science and was supposed to graduate in 2019. She was in the third year.”

“She poisoned herself after stabbing her boyfriend.”

Sources within the hostel said that the deceased had thought that she had killed her boyfriend and out of fear she committed suicide.

Her boyfriend, Johnson, who was rushed to Federal Medical Center, Owerri, did not die. He is said to be recovering.

“She ate the poisonous substance out of fear that she had killed her own boyfriend.

There was jubilation after a huge Python that has been terrorizing a village in South East was killed by Villagers while trying to escape.

According to an eyewitness who shared the pictures, the Villagers have searched for the Python for two weeks before it was was finally killed.

A suspected ritualist has been caught after he stormed Umuokoro Umuihi community to steal female pants.


Igbere TV gathered that the man was caught while trying to escape after he collected many pants.

An eyewitness who spoke with IGBERE TV warned girls to be careful with their pants especially this ember month.

"A guy came into the community all the way from Obowo to steal female pants and was caught in action."

An All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, and the party’s candidate for Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal constituency, Hon. Nnamdi Iro Oji has paid a visit to the former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who underwent a major surgery late last month in a Wisebaden Hospital.
Oji, who spoke exclusively with IGBERE TV after the visit said Kalu was in high spirit and is recovering fast.

Opotoyom, as he is popularly called, further urged Nigerians to continue to pray for Kalu’s total recovery and subsequent return to the country as he’s already being deeply missed in the polity.


Meanwhile, a Lagos high court today revoked Kalu’s bail over his failure to appear in court.
Kalu has been bedridden for weeks after an emergency in October which led to his being flown to Germany for medical attention.
