BREAKING!!! Heavy Tension in Bende Over Alleged Plot to Withdraw Chima Anyaso’s PDP Ticket There is currently a heavy tension in Bende federal constituency over alleged plot by Abia state People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to withdraw Dr. Chima Anyaso ticket. An insider revealed to Igbere TV that Abia state PDP are under pressure to return the party’s ticket, (through the back door) to reps members who lost at the Primaries. Igbere TV gathered that Bende people are extremely angry over the recent developments. Igbere TV also learnt that Bende Youths have vowed to protest if Anyaso’s PDP ticket is withdrawn from him. A youth, Michael Onwuka who spoke with IGBERE TV revealed that the youths are already organizing for a protest. ” We, Bende Youths have decided to take it upon ourselves to fight on behalf of Chima Anyaso because he is a youth like us. “We can’t allow PDP to return the ticket to Ukeje because she has failed the entire good people of Bende. Ukeje can’t deprive we the youths our right because she is a woman “. “We are already organizing for a protest, very soon the party and Ukeje will hear from us”,he said. Igbere TV had reported of moves by the lawmaker, through her mother, Justice Rose Ukeje, a former Chief Judge in Federal High Court, to illegally snatch Chima Anyaso’s ticket using the 35% affirmative action for women. Bende: Nnenna Ukeje’s 35% Affirmative Claims Against Anyaso Laughable – PDP Following the recent move by a House of Representatives member, Nnenna Ukeje to retrieve, via the law court, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for Bende Federal Constituency after she was defeated by Dr. Chima Anyaso at the primaries, Igbere TV decided to seek for opinions of a lawyer and a People’s Democratic Party Chieftain to address the issue. IGBERE TV had reported of moves by the lawmaker, through her mother, Justice Rose Ukeje, a former Chief Judge in Federal High Court, to illegally snatch Chima Anyaso’s ticket using the 35% affirmative action for women. When Igbere TV contacted Barrister Emmanuel Kalu to speak on the 35% affirmative order for women representation, he laughed over it and described the actions of Ukeje as ‘shameful’ because she has a mother who was a former chief judge that ought to know the laws and explain to her. He revealed that the 35% Affirmative action or order for women was to be contained in the Gender and Equality Bill which failed reading in the Senate and was never passed as an alteration to the Constitution’. In his words, “I’m still in shock about Ukeje’s actions to seek for 35% affirmative action for women despite having a mother that was a Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja who ought to know the laws of the country.” “Let me explain to her that the 35% Affirmative action for women was to be contained in the Gender and Equality Bill which failed reading in the Senate and was never passed as an alteration to the Constitution.” “So, I don’t know where she got the courage to go to the law firm, maybe because her mother was a former chief judge,” he said. When Igbere TV visited a member of PDP SWC (name withheld on his demand) to speak on the issue, he made it crystal clear that that the 35% affirmative order is not contained in the PDP constitution or Guidelines as he also expressed shock over Ukeje’s recent actions despite hugging Anyaso, a sign of accepting defeat on Thursday’s primary election held in Bende Federal Constituency. “I was shocked when I read the news that Ukeje went to her mother with a SAN to seek for 35% affirmative order which is not legal.” “In fact let me explain to her that It is also not contained in the PDP Constitution or Guidelines. It relates more to appointment of women in Government positions and not in a contested election won on simple majority.” “Also, Chima Anyaso is a youth and there is also an affirmative order for the youths. There is affirmative order which says 40% should be given to the youths”,he said. He went further to describe the 35% affirmative order for women as a merely propaganda which should not be taken serious because Ukeje has been defeated and rejected by the good people of Bende. By Wisdom Nwedene As 2019 general election draws nearer, former Governor of Abia State, Senator T. A Orji has been caught sharing millions of naira to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials in the state. Senator T. A. Orji reportedly visited the INEC office on 3rd September 2018 which prompted the INEC officials to welcome him while the Senator doled out huge amount of money which is against the law of INEC. Meanwhile, a group known as 'Abians for Good Governance' (AGG) has condemned the development in an open letter to the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu. AGG revealed that the development was a violation of INEC’s code of conduct and demanded an investigation into the matter. “The visit of the former governor few months to the general election and the cash gift openly doled out to staff is suspicious and highly objectionable,” AGG said in the letter published on Monday. “It is nothing but a subtle action to influence the predisposition of the election officials. It should be investigated and corresponding action meted. “The commission should not remain taciturn considering the wide-ranging condemnation that trailed the visit and the pictures of the scene released online. “We, therefore, demand explanation for the visit and also the immediate redeployment of INEC principal officers in Abia State. “We have suffered almost two decades of bad government and have collectively resolved to retrieve the carcass of our God’s own state from chasm where it is deposited come 2019. “Any form of acquiescence from the electoral umpires to subvert our wish will be resisted this time. “We use this medium to urge you to monitor the activities of your staff to ensure decorum as we head to the poll in six months’ time,” AGG said. INEC is yet to respond to the open letter. Source : http://igberetvnews.com/456203/breaking-former-governor-abia-state-t-orji-caught-sharing-money-inec-officialsphotos/

Ikpeazu Returns Schools To Assemblies Of God Church After This Happened By Wisdom Nwedene The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the Commissioner of Education, Prof Ikechi Mgbeoji to make sure that East Street Primary School and Clifford Road Primary School both in Aba are returned to the original owner, the Assemblies of God Church. The State Governor made the announcement during the 2018 Men’s Day celebration of the Assemblies of God Church, 222 Clifford Road, Aba, in response to the plea made by the church. In their address read by the Secretary of the Men’s Ministry, Deacon David J. Okai, the church passionately pleaded with the Governor to facilitate the return of the schools to their church, a process they said started during the immediate past government in the state, but was stalled due to the leadership crisis in the church then, which has now been settled. “Your Excellency, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu Sir, please, on behalf of the entire church, we are appealing to you to approve the recovery of our primary schools; East Street and Clifford Road Primary Schools which were approved by the former governor, T. A. Orji, during his tenure, but because of the Internal misunderstanding we had then, it was withheld. Now that it has been resolved, we plead that you use your good office to give them back to us. This church will never forget you for helping us out in this regard. We thank you in anticipation of doing this for us, Your Excellency. Divinity and humanity will never forget you in Jesus name, Amen.” Responding after the Governor announced the pledge to return the schools, the Assistant District Superintendent of the Church, Rev Don Njoku, thanked the Governor for his kind gesture and assured him that the church will continue to support and pray for his government. Earlier in his address, the President of the Men’s Ministry of the Church, Deacon Kalu Egbe, applauded the leadership and development strides of the governor and assured him of the support of the men of the church in his determined efforts to positively change the narrative of Aba and Abia State. Governor Ikpeazu who was received at the Church by Rev (Dr) Ogboso Ejindu, Assistant District Superintendent and the executives of the men’s ministry was accompanied by top Government officials including the Commissioner for Agriculture, Rt Hon. Abia 2019: Ikpeazu’s Abysmal Performance Does not Justify a 2nd Term – Ex-Super Eagles Player A chieftain of APC in Abia State, Pascal Karibe Ojigwe has emphasised that the party is growing not just by the day in the state but by the minute, making it ready to take over power in the state come 2019 given the “abysmal performance” of the incumbent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu. The ex super eagles player made this revelation in a chat with our correspondent in Umuahia. He said a lot of people with integrity are trooping into the party by the minute, people he said have something to offer to the society. The Bende North State Constituency aspirant expressed regret that his victory at his previous attempt to represent his people was truncated, expressing optimism that with the caliber of people in APC, such will not happen again. He explained that he dumped APGA for APC because in APGA there is no father at the centre. He said a lot of serious people are in APC, making it a formidable platform to win elections. He said he is in politics to give back to the state and contribute his quota to its developmental process, having lived in Europe for a long time. Mr. Ojigwe hailed the option of direct primaries adopted by the party in the state, saying it is a plus to the grassroot people. He expressed optimism that come 2019, he would emerge victorious to represent his constituents at Abia state House of Assembly. By Wisdom Nwedene No fewer than 150 ex-militants from the Niger Delta area have begun one month training in agriculture in Umuahia, the Abia State capital as part of the federal government’s amnesty programme. The programme is organised by the government in collaboration with the Abia State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) in partnership with FADMOBAT at the headquarters of the ADP. The ex-militants would be trained on poultry, fishery, land tilling and preparation, book keeping, farm business, produce marketing and farm personnel management. Flagging off the training, the programme manager of the ADP, Chief Batho Onyemaobi said at the end the participants were expected to be proficient in their respective areas of specialisation. He said the need for the country to return back to massive agriculture to promote food sufficiency and create employment opportunities for the teeming youth cannot be emphasized at this time. Siilarly, the coordinator of the training, Chika Abangwu appealed to them to forward any challenges they may encounter during the period in writing for onward transmission to the appropriate quarters. Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Mr Abraham Ebiyekon wondered why their training should last for only one month while those of others before them lasted for about nine months.
