Politics / BREAKING!!! Finally, Akpabio Dumps Nsima Ekere Over N7.2b Campaign Funds by Igboblog: 6:33am On Dec 23, 2018
By Augustina Ukoh, Uyo, 22nd December 2018

Except there is divine intervention, hell is set to be let loose in the coming days between the Akwa Ibom APC governorship candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere and Senator Godswill Akpabio concerning 7.2 billion naira allegedly collected by Senator Akpabio as part of mobilization “seed” to rig the 2019 elections in favour of APC.

According to a source who should be in the know, Senator Akpabio had approached Mr. Nsima with a proposal of 11.2 billion naira to be utilized to win the governorship election. The title of the proposal reads: “A Holistic Material for the Dismemberment of the PDP in Akwa Ibom state in 2019”.

A breakdown of the proposal shows that the money will be utilized to lobby some Federal Government agencies like the INEC, Police, Army, Navy, Civil Defense, and other paramilitary formations to be deployed to the state for the general elections.

The source who wants to remain anonymous, noted that apart from those agencies mentioned above, the money according to Senator Akpabio was also to lobby the national and international media, Election Observers – both local and international who would monitor the elections.
After going through the document, Mr. Ekere was said to have released an initial advance payment of 7.2 billion naira to Senator Akpabio to begin lobbying the agencies. “But since 11th October when the money was allegedly released to Senator Akpabio, he has not given Nsima any concrete situation report on the deployment of the cash.”

Our source continued that “each time Nsima ask Senator Akpabio for progress report, Senator Akpabio would reply that all is well which is not a good response to Nsima and hence created room for Nsima to doubt if Akpabio could deliver”.

“You know that Nsima rely so much on Senator Akpabio to win this election so he didn’t want to confront him directly on the matter for fear of causing stir that would look as if he doesn’t trust him. So he kept using diplomatic means to approach the matter until someone close to Senator Akpabio told Nsima that Akpabio had met brick walls when he approached most of the people and agencies on the matter” our source said.

Our source hinted further that Mr. Nsima was very furious when he discovered that many days have gone without Akpabio acting on the plan to use 11.2 billon naira to rig the election. So he approached Senator Akpabio on the matter as he was loosing confidence that he would deliver.
Angered that Mr. Nsima does not appreciate all his efforts and sacrifices to make him a governor, Akpabio fumed: “do you know how difficult it is to manipulate and rig elections now, do you know? I approached INEC and Mike told me that he won’t take the risk and go to jail because of two billion naira that he won’t compromise the elections for APC. I also went to the GOC in charge of 2nd battalion in port Harcourt to see how he would deploy his men to Akwa Ibom from Rivers state since the Military Officers at Ibawa Barracks in Abak are “playing Udom” but he told me that he cannot guarantee my request. So also is the new Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police which I suffered to ensure his redeployment to Akwa Ibom state telling me that he has a secondary school classmate in Udom government who said he knows APC plans to use the police to truncate the will of the people and threatens to expose it to the media, so he won’t play ball to compromise his career.”

“I have been working underground and hard to ensure that I gather their support but the more I do, the more everything keep going in favour of Udom and you are not even helping matters probing how I use your funds underground. “Nsima, to be sincere from the look of things, I cannot guarantee that you will win this election because the people are with Udom and if we cant rig the election, it is over as i fear for my own election,” Akpabio concluded in a sober tone.

According to our source who was at the meeting, Nsima who was baffled that Akpabio could give up so soon, and sensing betrayal asked the Senator for a refund of the money but Akpabio kept mute meaning that he could not give account for the initial money received – a situation that those present assumed may led to a renewed hostility between both leaders.

All efforts to speak with Senator Akpabio proved abortive as his phone was switched off as at the time of this report.

Igbere TV will keep a close eye on the situation and bring you updates if we hear something new.

EXPOSED!! How Akpabio Inflated Ikot-Ekpene Road From N28b to N71b; Udom Vindicated (Documents)

Emmanuel Nicholas Okokon

The Uyo – Ikot Ekpene Road project has been the talking point of people who wish to use it in tarnishing the hard earned reputation of Governor Udom Emmanuel .

I’m writing on this in order to separate facts from lies without any prejudice.

It is on record that on the 19th December, 2011, the then Governor of Akwa Ibom State , Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio awarded a contract to Julius Berger(Nig.) PLC for the dualization of the 25 kilometres of Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road to the tune of N28,394,575,803,22k (Twenty Eight Billion, Three Hundred and Ninety Four Million, Five Hundred and Seventy Five Thousand Eight Hundred and Three Naira Twenty Two Kobo) (Please find attach the document titled Dualization of Uyo – Ikot Ekpene Road Dated 19th December, 2011 with reference NO. GO/FGPC/S/6/VOL.XIX/1026 addressed to the Managing Director, Julius Berger (Nig.) Plc, Eastern Bye-Pass, Port Harcourt.)

Available document has it that the contract was to be completed within 24 month and 40% was paid . That is N 11, 357,830,321.29k (Eleven Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Thirty Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty One Naira, Twenty Nine Kobo) of the contract sum which was the mobilization was fully disbursed including the balance .
Records also have it that on the 12th September, 2013, the estimated cost of dualizing the said road was reviewed and N23,516,228,394.00 (Twenty Three Billion, Five Hundred and Sixteen Million, Two Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety Four Naira) was added which took the total contract sum to N51,910,804,197.22 (Fifty One Billion, Nine Hundred and Ten Million, Eight Hundred and Four Thousand, One Hundred and Ninety Seven Naira Twenty Two Kobo) (on this, please find attach the document titled Dualization of Uyo – Ikot Ekpene Road: Revised Estimated Contract Sum Dated 12th September, 2013 with reference NO.
GO/FGPC/S/6/VOL.XX/153 addressed to the Managing Director, Julius Berger (Nig.) Plc. Eastern Bye-Pass, Port Harcourt), the funds fully disbursed. Note that there was no additional Job or increment in exchange rate .

The reasons necessitating the review of the contract sum from the initial N28,394,575,803.22k (Twenty Eight Billion, Three Hundred and Ninety Four Million, Five Hundred and Seventy Five Thousand Eight Hundred and Three Naira Twenty Two Kobo) to N51,910,804,197.22k (Fifty One Billion, Nine Hundred and Ten Million, Eight Hundred and Four Thousand, One Hundred and Ninety Seven Naira Twenty Two Kobo) was not stated.

Similarly, on 25th July, 2014, the Akwa Ibom State Government approved additional work in respect of the dualization of the said road with the following description: (i) Section from Ch. 23+000 to city centre incl. Roundabout. (ii) flyover to the tune of N19,448,373,217.63k . (Nineteen Billion, Four Hundred and Forty Eight Million, Three Hundred and Seventy Tree Thousand Two Hundred and Seventeen Naira Sixty Three Kobo) (please find attached the document titled Dualization of Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Road: (Phase111)Additional Work Dated 25th July, 2014 with reference NO. GO/FGPC/S/6/VOL.XX/234 addressed to The Managing Director, Julius Berger (Nig.) Plc. Eastern Bye-Pass, Port Harcourt. Although the sum of N71, 359, 177, 414.89 (Seventy One Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty Nine Million, One Hundred and Seventy Seven Thousand, Four Hundred and Fourteen Naira Eighty Nine Kobo) was released for the execution of the project. It is unfortunate to say that the contractor abandoned the project due to lack of funds which is to say that the funds did not get to the contractors.

During the tenure of Senator Godswill Akpabio, he hurriedly commissioned what he called the phase 1 , with 6km asphalted, 3 km with binder level , and the remaining 5 km was at earth works. Nothing was done on the other parts of the road, particularly in Ikot Ekpene LGA
From the records made available, the sum of N2.3 billion naira was set aside for the compensation of persons whose property were marked for demolition which was to begin from kilometer 4 to make way for the construction of the road down to Ikot Ekpene plaza but sadly, though the money was approved and disbursed, none of the affected persons got compensated and the construction of the said road was abandoned by the contractors because funds were not made available both for compensation and for the completion of the construction.

It is the present administration led by His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel that made funds available for compensation of those whose property were marked for demolition and who again made funds available to Julius Berger PLC for the completion of the project which is why the contractors are back on site.

A careful consideration of the facts and documents attached clearly reveal that someone embezzled over 42 billion during the administration of the then Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio. So those who are lying that they left the road 1km to Plaza , and they have paid all compensation , are the people who have forced me into this research as my office demands, hence present this fact to the public , so that the public can separate truth from lies .

Governor Udom Emmanuel is not playing politics with projects that is meant for the development of Akwa Ibom State. The seeming delay in the start of the project was due to litigations by property owners who got experte motion and stopped the State Government from taking right of way

BREAKING!!! "Seats of Sacked Lawmakers Remain Vacant", A'Ibom Assembly Dispels Rumour

The Chief Whip & Chairman, House Committee on Youth, Sports and Security, Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong Bassey has released the agreement reached by the leadership of lawyers and some security officials in a meeting held yesterday.

Hon.Bassey said it was pertinent for him to clear the air because mischief makers and rumor mongers are circulating false news that the seats of the sacked lawmakers have been occupied. He said the seats of the sacked lawmakers remain vacant.

According to a statement forwarded to Igbere TV by Hon. Bassey, there was no such resolution as being mischievously circulated.

He further said that the decision as to who leads the 6th Assembly is exclusively that of the members of the House of Assembly to make. The Speaker’s position or any other business of the House for that matter is not determined at the police station or anywhere outside the floor of the House as provided for in the Constitution and the standing orders of the House.

The statement reads in full,

"I have seen a story being circulated purportedly as the resolution of a meeting between the leadership of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, lawyers, and some security officials in the state yesterday. For the sake of members of the public who have been following the recent attacks on the operations of the State legislature by certain disruptive elements, it is important to put the facts straight concerning the meeting of yesterday, that:"

"1. There was no such resolution as being mischievously circulated. The decision as to who leads the 6th Assembly is exclusively that of the members of the House of Assembly to make. The Speaker’s position or any other business of the House for that matter is not determined at the police station or anywhere outside the floor of the House as provided for in the Constitution and the standing orders of the House."

"2. The leadership of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly clearly stated its position to await the outcome of the matters currently pending in courts and to stand by the earlier resolutions of the House. We made it clear to the Commissioner of Police that as a law abiding House, we will await the decisions of the court on the matters instituted by the ex-lawmakers and which matters are currently pending. By implication therefore, the former members whose seats were declared vacant are by law not members of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly. Already, there are multiple undetermined cases in the courts against the House of Assembly as instituted by the affected former members."

"3. I must restate the fact that at no point in that meeting was it agreed that the Speaker or the House rescinds on the resolutions taken. If there was any such resolutions as peddled by the mischief makers, there would certainly have been a communique to that effect. I challenge anyone to produce any communique to the public to substantiate the purported resolution."

"We hope that mischief makers would desist forthwith from their pernicious propaganda and embrace decorum as all 21 honourable Members of the House cannot be bullied into taking the path of illegality just to please people who have made themselves gods in the affairs of Akwa Ibom state."

More details soon.

Politics / PDP Blows Hot, Reveals How Akpabio ‘danced Naked In Market Place’ by Igboblog: 12:24pm On Dec 16, 2018
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has lampooned former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, describing his actions during the visit of the President’s wife, Aisha Buhari as ‘a show of arrogance’ and warned the Senator to desist from such act.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV by the Spokesperson, Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, Otuekong (Hon) Emmanuel Ibiok said it was an act of shame when a former Governor, was seen at the forefront of breaching known protocol in a failed attempt to deprive the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel of her statutory responsibility of receiving the President’s wife as the first lady of the state, during a visit that was very formal and official.

The statement reads,

“Twenty Four hours after His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio and wife, Unoma led to pandemonium at the Victor Attah International airport during the visit of the President’s wife, Her Excellency, Aisha Buhari, the Senator is yet to apologize to the government and people of Akwa Ibom State.”

“It was an act of shame when a former Governor, was seen at the forefront of breaching known protocol in a failed attempt to deprive the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel of her statutory responsibility of receiving the President’s wife as the first lady of the state, during a visit that was very formal and official.”

“The whole world is still frozen in bewilderment to have seen a Senator struggling with the crowd and pushing down old women who also went there to receive the President’s wife, just to thrust his wife to the front row. He practically threw away, civility, decorum and responsibility, for reasons best known to him. It is pertinent to ask the Distinguished Senator, if he would have condoned such flagrant disrespect to protocol, during his era in the saddle.”

“It is most embarrassing considering that this was a national event, and Mr President’s wife was visiting Akwa Ibom State for the first time in an official capacity. It is therefore unethical for him and his co-travelers to choose such an auspicious occasion for a dress rehearsal of their infamous ‘Warsaw’ script.”

“What else could have made a man of his exposure and experience, literally confront security/protocol personnel on duty just for not dancing to his tone? It is instructive therefore that politicians note the clear cut demarcation between desperate political maneuvering and respect for constituted authority. We advise the APC to call their nationalist to order, and curtail the embarrassments some of his actions tend to bring to the image of the State.”

“We use this opportunity to once again commend the Mother of the State, Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel for her comportment and sense of maturity in managing such a situation, in the face of extreme provocation.

May we therefore humbly appeal to Mr President, the country’s first lady and all Akwa Ibomites to forgive the perpetrators of the show of shame at the airport.”

“We also urge all well-meaning Akwa Ibomites to continue to remain law-abiding and supportive of the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel, the symbol of peace and prosperity which defines our dear state presently.

Divine Mandate! Only God”

I sat recently with a Senator at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja who insisted that Buhari is no longer on this planet and he’s been replaced by a nebulous Jubril from Sudan. My God, what manner of country is this, I soliloquised…

Fellow Nigerians, let me say how worried I’m about our dear beloved country Nigeria. Yes. I’m troubled because of how much we have allowed politics and politicking to turn our land into a playground of beasts and vampires. It is sad, very sad.

Just yesterday, an old friend woke me up from my deep sleep. He is no other than the former Governor of Abia State, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu. I had tried to reach him desperately in the last few weeks after reading all kinds of reports online about him. The one that alarmed me the most was a purported ‘Breaking News” that said Orji has just died after an unsuccessful operation in Germany. I was so rattled that I quickly put a call through to my dear friend and former colleague at Concord Newspapers of Nigeria, Eric Osagie, now the Managing Director of The Sun Newspapers. As soon as he picked his phone, I tried to check if I would hear, or feel, any wailing, or gnashing, of teeth in the background but my friend sounded as boisterous as ever. Ever since I knew Eric, I have never seen or heard him in a dull moment.

Eric screamed my moniker as always “Bob Deeeee!” I retaliated, “Ericooo!” and I went straight to the reason I was calling him.” Where is Orji Kalu?” I asked, hurriedly. “Your friend is in his house in Abuja,” Eric responded, matter-of-factly. Somehow, I thought he was just being clever and tactful and didn’t want to break the sad news, just yet. I wasn’t going to allow Eric do that to me. The reporter in me took the upper hand and I thundered, “I just read that Orji is dead!” But Eric, in his characteristic confidence mode, responded authoritatively. “Bob Dee, don’t mind them, “your friend is in his house in Abuja, please call him.” Wow, thank God, I sighed and simmered. I called but got no response from my friend of over 27 years.

No matter the situation, my friends are always my friends. Business or politics should never separate friends. Orji was already a successful businessman when I met him around 1990. I used to call him “the Aba Trader” then and he changed my nickname from Bob Dee to Don Dee. He used to pick me up, every now and then to visit his various sites and properties in Lagos and I was quite impressed about his business acumen and vision. I loved to gist with him, as he had incredible information on everything and everyone. One of the most fascinating stories I savoured endlessly from him was that of the coup that almost toppled General Ibrahim Babangida from the seat of power at Dodan Barracks. Orji is an extremely affable man whose wealth of friends, from North to South, and East to West, is remarkable and commendable. I wish every Nigeria was like members of their generation who saw Nigeria as one nation and not a country of fracticidal fractional nationalities.

When I was in exile in England, Orji contacted me regularly whenever he breezed into London and he always invited me to his beautiful home in North Finchley. We had fun visiting the best restaurants and we were so close then and remain so now. I will always recall his visit to our former home, on Romford Road in East London, when my wife and I had the naming ceremony of our second son, Enitanyole, in July 1996. Also present was Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate most of the photographs taken on that special occasion, but we still have that of Tinubu and myself.

When Ovation took off full blast, we did an exclusive interview with Orji Kalu at home in London, titled “Aba Trader Eyes the Government House.” It was the first time Orji revealed for the first time that he was nursing the ambition to go into politics and contest the gubernatorial election in his home State of Abia, in South East Nigeria. I was excited by the story which was lavishly garnished with beautiful pictures of his London home. Though I had my doubts about his ability to take on and dislodge the firmly rooted professional politicians in Nigeria, I was nonetheless happy that successful managers of men and resources were getting into politics instead of abandoning governance in the hands of semi-literates, mediocres and never-do-wells.

My only worry at the time was the risk of duelling with political sharks and alligators who were ready to tear everyone and everything into shreds if it threatened their entrenched interests. I felt that Orji might end up a veritable victim of their customary shenanigans. Orji soon started his campaign and I monitored him from a distance. His raw courage always marked him out and I assumed his humongous business conglomerate was the source of his confidence and suavity. He contested and won the Governorship race and I was very elated. We met a few times whenever he was in his Lagos home and I relished our breakfast meetings at his home in Victoria Island. He had bright ideas about how to transform Aba from a rural setting to a cosmopolitan society. I noticed in his first term that he embarked on an aggressive modernisation of roads which was hailed in many newspaper reports which, I believe gave him the opportunity to win a second term, despite his running battle with President Olusegun Obasanjo. The only time I visited I visited Abia State was when I was made a Chief by HRH Eze Dr Ngozi Israel Ibekwe, the traditional Ruler of Etiti Mgboko Umuanunu Ancient Kingdom. Unless I am doing a story, or I am expressly invited for some activity, function or even visit, it is not my style to bother my friends who are in positions of power. I believe that they have enough on their plate and that I should not add to their problems or distract them from their serious work of nation building.

I had no means of assessing or ascertaining how well he did as Governor, but he seemed very popular from the way he was handed a second term by his people. At some point, he even nursed Presidential ambition. I will not be surprised if he still does because I know he is passionate about Nigeria and feels that we have so far been short-changed by the quality of leaders that we have had. He remains resolute and firm in the belief that he still has a lot to offer the country. Orji was one of the most vociferous critics of the Obasanjo regime. He must be commended for surviving the blistering Hurricane OBJ that swept away several Governors of that incredible era. Since he left power, his critics have attacked him too endlessly and he’s been dragged before the anti-corruption agency, EFCC, accused of pilfering some of the resources meant for developing his State. The latest controversy has now led to the rumour of his death.

Well, Orji woke me up from bed yesterday morning. “Don Deee, how are you?” Then he went into the rumour of his death. He said He’s happy that he survived his operations that lasted many hours.

He wondered why some people wanted him dead after serving his State and country meritoriously. He reminded me of how long we’ve known each other and recalled how he had made his billions via his SLOK GROUP, long before he went into politics.

He was very excited to chat with me just like old times and as we usually do whenever we have the opportunity to interact. He said he was returning to Germany to recuperate properly and fully and I wished him a safe trip. It is always a delight chatting with a man who has some of the hottest gist about men and women of power. His tentacles and reach also go beyond Nigeria.

Orji is not the only butt of jokes and ridiculous rumours in this season of political giddiness. I have had to practically engage in hot verbal exchanges with supposed educated and intelligent Nigerians over the cloning or body double speculation about our President Muhammadu Buhari.
I sat recently with a Senator at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja who insisted that Buhari is no longer on this planet and he’s been replaced by a nebulous Jubril from Sudan. My God, what manner of country is this, I soliloquised. The thought that any rational or reasonable person could contemplate that such far-fetched subterfuge and con could be perpetrated by any group of Nigerians with the collaboration of foreigners, especially the English, just makes the mind boggle. It is for example utterly ridiculous and sheer madness to ascribe to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo – a cerebral, discerning man of God, a Professor of Law and the immediate beneficiary of any unfortunate accident to the President – any role in such a farcical debacle. Indeed, it is such a crying shame that supposedly brilliant, intelligent and wise men and women would even deign to condescend to join the cacophony of noise and excitement about the existence of such a dastardly plot. For me, this is a distraction that we can least afford when there are important matters to engage us as a nation particularly as we draw near elections which may turn out to be the making, breaking or otherwise of our great country.

I have met Buhari at close range on at least four occasions since 2011, including engaging him all alone in a room in Aso Rock in 2015. As far as I am concerned, he remaind the same person now as he was then. He may be affected by the aging process and ill-health, but that happens to us all. It does not make us cloned or a body double or doppelganger of a Sudanese man. How can anyone want to brainwash Nigerians like common idiots? The fact people disagree politically is no reason to manufacture such malicious, irresponsible and fallacious tales about anyone least of all the President of our country.
All our political gladiators must purge themselves of this poisonous bile. At the same time, I have a generous advice for Buhari and his handlers, in particular.
They should resist the temptation to play politics of coercion. While I agree that there is plenty of fake news going around which is a mere part of the internet phenomenon, not many of it is hate speech, but mere irresponsible, spiteful or just jocular people who do not know any better. Only God gives power. To label rational, but dissenting speech as fake news just heats up the polity and clearly degrades us and our democracy.

Dissent and criticism are the hallmarks of true freedom and the ability to tolerate such critique is the difference between celebrated statesmen and despised autocrats, dictators and tyrants.
Some of the moves of certain government officials and agencies in recent times have been interpreted as a sign of panic and desperation. Blocking and obstructing opposition on all fronts may actually make certain candidates more popular. We have recent history to refer to in this regard. A word is enough for the wise.

As we approach 2019, another year of elections in Nigeria, the unification, security and economic well-being of our countrymen and women should be our priority. It is not how long we rule or reign but how well that is important and vital.

God bless Nigeria.

BREAKING!!! Methodist Bishop Escapes Attack from Suspected APC Thugs, Akpabio Fingered

A very disturbing report reaching Igbere TV news room says that a group of heavily armed thugs, suspected to be loyal to the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom state, have stormed the home of the Methodist Bishop of Essien Udim,
Rt. Rev. Robert Egwenre.

Igbere Tv learnt that the thugs, who came from Ukana, stormed Rev Egwenre’s house armed, but where unlucky as the man of God was nowhere to be found.

They thereafter threatened the wife of undesirable consequences, should she fail to stop her husband and other Methodist Church priests from further ‘disrespecting’ Senator Akpabio and his wife.

They also allegedly warned the Archbishop of the diocese, Sunday Uko, vowing to bring him down following his utter spat with their leader, Akpabio.

Rev. Egwenre clashed with Senator Godswill Akpabio and his wife last weekend during the presentation of a new lay president for the diocese in Ukana.

Igbere TV recalls that during that ceremony, the Most Rev. Sunday Uko had stopped the wife of Senator Godswill Akpabio from resorting to political campaigns for the APC Gubernatorial candidate, Nsima Ekere in church, but together with her husband, Mrs Akpabio had rebuffed the diocesan Archbishop of Ikot Ekpene.

“You cannot stop me and my wife from speaking politics inside here or anywhere, not while I am alive,” Akpabio snapped at the priest, forcing the man and other men of God to abandon the church.
Not satisfied, the senator, in continuation of his “Warsaw” agenda is said to have sent thugs to attack Rt. Rev. Robert Egwenre, the Bishop of Essien Udim.

“Except something is done urgently, the Methodist Church Nigeria in Ikot Ekpene arch diocese may face avoidable human losses as a manhunt on her clergies has been hatched by Senator Godswill Akpabio”, a source who should be in the know said.

“A group of thugs and serial killers have been mobilized to ‘deal’ with Bishops and Archbishops for the embarrassment they caused Senator Akpabio and his wife Unoma during the presentation of a new lay president for the diocese last Sunday in Ukana”, the source added.

It is not yet clear if the Methodist Church leadership in Ikot Ekpene have reported the matter to the police, but an inside source confided in our reporter that there is increased security watch on the Archbishop, who is not ready to go against the decision of the state Christian leadership, CAN, which has endorsed Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election.

Politics / BREAKING!!! Kalu Departs Abuja, Arrives Germany For Medical Attention by Igboblog: 10:32am On Dec 15, 2018
The former governor of Abia state and APC Senatorial candidate for Abia North, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu this morning arrived Frankfurt Airport and headed to Wiesebaden Hospital for appointment with his doctors.

Igbere TV recalls that Kalu, on November 28, in a letter of appreciation to Nigerians for their solidarity during his ill health, indicted that he will return to Germany on 10th of December and return again on January 22 for further medical checkups.

The December appointment was however rescheduled by Kalu’s doctor, Prof. Dr. med. Kleinschmidt to 15th, 17th and 18th December due to his unavoidable absence.
Igbere TV learnt that the Doctor, who is also the family physician of the Saudi royal family, traveled to Saudi Arabia to attend to the family.
Our hospital source also informed us that Kalu will have another follow up on January 20, 21 and 24 after which the hospital will decide if to discharge him fully.
In unusual display of patriotism and respect for the judiciary, Kalu had returned to Nigeria on November 30 against the advice of his Doctors, who insisted Kalu remained in Germany as an inpatient for close monitoring till end of January. But due to cost considerations, the extremely cold of the winter and other factors, Kalu decided to be coming in from Abuja as an outpatient, a source revealed.

One of Kalu’s aides also hinted us that his principal is likely to return to Nigeria on Dec 22 and will head to his country home, Igbere to celebrate the xmas. Kalu is known to always celebrate the Yuletide with close family members and his community in Igbere.
Like was observed during his November 30 homecoming, it is expected that Kalu will be accompanied by medical staff who will keep close eye on him while in Igbere. A Doctor and nurse was assigned to travel with Kalu to Nigeria on November 30 and left with him back to Germany last night.

Meanwhile, since the news of Kalu’s surgery broke, there has been overwhelming outpouring of love and solidarity by Nigerians and the people of Abia North in particular, who have repeatedly assured Kalu of their resolve to vote for him in 2019 for Senate.

Many of the people interviewed by our correspondents urged Kalu to concentrate on his health as they will vote for him whether he campaigned or not.

A Youth leader in Arochukwu LGA, Onyebuchi Udensi said “our people are tired of people coming to share N500 or N1000 during election and nobody will see them again till four years. We need quality representation, we need a senator who can influence the Federal Government to fix our roads, tackle erosion, provide assistance to our farmers, build schools and provide meaningful empowerment to our youths, not fry pan empowerment and Orji Kalu is the only credible candidate who can deliver. He has done it before and I know he will do it again”

On her part, a woman leader in Abiriba, Madam Ogbeyealu Okorie said: “When Kalu was governor, civil servants were paid on time, Pensioners were happy, parents were happy because of Kalu’s free education program, free health care, even till today, OUK foundation is giving out free interest loan to our people, giving scholarship to students and many more. Campaign or no campaign, the women will vote for him massively because he loves for us and we love him too.”

Kalu who was spotted at Frankfurt Airport this morning was accompanied by two security personnel. Our source said the Germany authorities where asked by one of the American countries to ensure Kalu’s Security during his stay in the country. The Security personnel were also spotted through out Kalu’s stay in the hospital in November.

All efforts to reach the ex governor on phone proved abortive. However, our correspondent reached out to his close associate who confirmed the trip, assuring Nigerians that ex Governor Orji Kalu will be back in Nigeria in time to celebrate Christmas with his family and supporters.

According to the associate, “This shows that against the propaganda of the opponents and other political parties, Governor Orji Kalu is a free man who would sacrifice personal comfort, even risking his health, to obey the order of the courts in Nigeria. Most people in his status would stay 6 months or more because the doctor said so, until they are completely healed overseas before returning home to answer the laws of the land. Governor Orji Kalu has shown that he is a great statesman who has high respect for the rule of law having asked most of his supporters to stop joining issues with the decision of Justice Idris.”

BREAKING!!! Akpabio, A’Ibom APC Panic Over Appeal Court Judgment, Ekere Risks Disqualification

There appears to be no respite for the embattled Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the All Progressives Congress, (APC) governorship flag bearer for Akwa Ibom state, Nsima Ekere.

Igbere Tv has learnt that there is palpable tension within the state APC following Wednesday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal in Rivers State which affirmed the disqualification of Tonye Cole as the APC Governorship candidate for Rivers state and the non recognition of all the ward, chapter and state executives of the party following the faulty primary that brought them to office.

The tension within the Okopido led State Working Committee, SWC, is because the same scenario of Rivers state is about playing out in Akwa Ibom state following a suit by some aggrieved party members who are seeking the dissolution of the Okopido led executives on the grounds that their emergence did not follow laid down procedure.

The suit which has as Claimants Rev Samuel Ukut, Elder Sunday Akrasi and Barr. Monday Udofot, are praying the court to declare the Okopido led executives illegal. The implication of this is that, using Rivers state as a reference point, any court judgement declaring Ini Okopido and his executives as illegal automatically disqualifies Obong Nsima Ekere as the party’s governorship candidate and jeopardizes the chances of all APC candidates from contesting the 2019 election as valid candidates of the party.

Aware of the dangers that lies ahead if the suit leads to the dissolution of the Okopido led executives, the Guide Newspaper reveals that there is pressure on the petitioners to withdraw the suit and seek an out-of-court settlement, the Guide Newspaper

Igbere Tv also learnt that the plaintiffs have also gone underground following death threats by some elements within the APC loyal to two leading chieftains of the party.

It could be recalled that the aggrieved party executives are insisting that Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district alone has gotten more than enough positions to the detriment of Uyo Senatorial district, hence their call of Mr Ini Okopido to step aside for proper power balancing for equity and fair representation and also to correct the faulty process of the primary that brought him into office.

According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the APC SWC members are of the opinion that the office of the State Chairman should be moved from Ikot Ekpene to Uyo Senatorial district since the Caucus Chairman; Otuekong Don Etiebet, State Leader; Senator Godswill Akpabio, State Woman Leader; Ekaette Uloma Akpabio and Deputy Governorship candidate; Dr Amadu Attai are all from the same Senatorial district leaving Uyo Senatorial district with no significant position in the power equation of the party.

The Case with a suit No. HU/357/201, assigned to Court 1 Federal High Court Uyo, had the APC National Working Committee, State Working Committee and INEC, joined as defendants in the suit.

The aggrieved party executives mostly from Uyo Senatorial district are asking the court to among other things; a declaration that the Wards and Chapters Congresses held in consonant with congress guidelines on the 5th and 12th of May 2018 be declared as the authentic executive of the party, that Mr Ini Ikopido should cease to parade self as chair because his acclaimed nomination and declaration by selected elders was in breach of any known party law, a declaration that all actions and deeds emanating from his table be declared null and void and an order seeking to compel the APC to conduct a valid State congress among others.
